The process was smooth and quick. The lady that helped first was thorough and quick. The lady with the beautiful earrings took my temperature and weight she even made me smile while my finger underwent a poke. The computer was a mess, when I would try to push a "no" answer the computer would change it to " yes " or "not sure." The nurse was so nice After all that I could not donate because of my medications. I was there for 3 1/2 hours but the employees were great. I would recommend them. Its mandatory to book an appointment but it's extremely useless because they book appointments right on top of each other and they have 21 machines but they dont use them all everyday, even when they're overbooked. read more

I have donated plasma here a few times. I love that they have an app which allows you to book appointments. My least favorite part of the process is getting my finger pricked for the blood test before the donation. The nurse is very friendly. The donation techs have always provided me with great care. The 2.5 stars out of 5 are not well deserved at all! I've donated plasma here several times and I've had nothing but good experiences. This place is CLEAN. It's new and ran like a well oiled machine... really busy but they really do their best to keep things moving. I work 4 days a week 10 hours a day. I'm extremely busy. You're telling me I can get away from my needy kids, lay in a bed and still get paid?! LOL sign me up! I did plasma donations as a college student before but as a working professional it's like my spa day (it's weird I know). I find it soo therapeutic to just lay in those comfortable chairs watch Netflix and not feel guilty for sitting on my butt while I donate plasma. Their staff works incredibly hard and is extremely professional. They always check up on you to make sure you're ok. Sure the lines are crazy long sometimes... guess what? Bring a book, watch a movie. They literally have specials like $1000 for 10 donations. Or if you're new it's 8 donations for $1000. I'll be super real. I came to this place a total of 6 times and was only able to ACTUALLY donate once. First time, I was told I would have to come back in 4 months due to a new tattoo (this isn't disclosed on their website or email of what to do before you donate). Ok no big deal. Second visit, they gave me a hematoma so big it was bulging from my arm. Pretty scary. Third time, I couldn't donate due to said faded hematoma (they never warned me about this). Fourth time, FINALLY was able to donate but was there for 3 hours past my appointment time. Fifth time, they poked me twice just to not be able to find a vein and sent me home. Sixth and last time, their BP machine said my heart rate was too high, TWICE, and they sent me home. Place is over 30 mins away from me, and I just didn't feel like wasting any more time or gas. I truly wanted to donate enough times to take advantage of the promotional pay. Maybe I'm just not a great candidate for donating plasma, just sharing my experience. read more

I am a new donor, I researched what I needed to do before setting my appointment. I arrived 10 minutes early for my first appointment, respectfully. The male nurse who did my intake, saw a scrape (NOT A CUT, no broken skin) on the top of my hand/forearm then allowed me to proceed. After 2 hours PAST MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME, he told me due to this bruise, I would have to come back when it was better, again NO BROKEN SKIN. Instead of addressing this during my intake, he allowed me to sit for 2 hours, then tell me with a bruise he couldn't proceed until it healed. I went online again to see why I couldn't donate with a bruise, on the opposite hand/forearm that plasma would be withdrawn, all said the same thing PLASMA CAN BE DONATED with a bruise and plasma withdrawal on opposite extremity. I went back today as the bruise is barely visable. Unfortunately he was there with the same condescending attitude and smirk. I told him I wanted someone else to look at it, he went into nurses office, came out giggling and said "she'll look at the bruise " laughing as he walked away. I already knew, she wasn't going to allow it since her predesessor had Already decided. I advised her, I work with 120lb dogs daily and my career ensures I have bruises frequently, she respondrd " then maybe you aren't a candidate for plasma donation "? I asked her point blank why isn't a bruise (NOT A DRUG USER HERE!) indicated on the website as a no go for plasma donation? She couldn't answer that! When I first walked in they were very friendly to me but then when it was time for me to get my physical with the nurse she was very unprofessional . I am blind in my right eye and this is how she asked about my eye very rudely so what's up with your eye I looked at her like how rude. She was very arrogant cold and I couldn't wait to get out of there and on top of it she misdiagnosed me wrong I already saw two doctors so she was incorrect she got me scared for no reason at all this woman was horrible and if people are planning to go to the Biolife Plasma in Jacksonville or Normandy Boulevard whatever you do don't get that nurse . I was going to donate not for the money but to help out so many people who need plasma I won't ever consider doing that again. read more

I am missing $30 from BioLife from the last two weeks of donations. I showed the promotional emails detailing how much I should have been paid to Kenzie. She told me that she would not pay me the money owed and that if I said anything else, she would permanently defer me. When I told her that I did not do anything to be permanently deferred, she threatened to kill me if I ever saw her again! I find this behavior extremely offensive. She then started to act like I was aggressing on her to other employees and told me to leave or she would call the police. She had another employee claim that I was filming her to justify the demands that I leave immediately. She refused to pay the money owed, she threatened my life, she ganged up on me with false testimony from another employee, and she told me that I have been permanently deferred. I have been donating plasma with BioLife for about four years and I have never experienced anything like this. I left the building to deescalate the situation. However, her behavior is putting donors at risk and must be addressed immediately! read more

I don't even know why this place is open. They simply cannot open up on time. The bare minimum of any business is to be able to open up on time. This center sucks, is disorganized, and they treat you like a number instead of a respectable donor by wasting your time and allowing undertrained phlebotomists to stick you. I have donated plasma for years and never received a hematoma. I received a hematoma three weeks in a row I escalated the issues to management (Michael) and he made excuses for the phlebotomists and bragged about how the store is breaking records instead of taking down my concerns and reassuring me on addressing these issues. Angelique, Joanne and I forgot the other person do not know how to stick. They need more practice. I went consistently to Biolife for 6 weeks (since their grand opening) and saw people coming out left and right with both of their arms stuck due to donation issues. Most recently, I witnessed a young lady leave in tears after a phlebotomist stuck both her arms. She was unable to get her blood returned to her and was deferred for 8 weeks. This was her main source of income due to being laid off to Covid. The lack of disregard for the donors and your time at this center is despicable. You wait for long hours even and even with an appointment they still will not stick you in the order that you came. I recommend some to donate at this center and they ran out of supplies so the person couldn't even donate. I have never had this many issues with a donation center and won't be returning. I know they literally make so much money off of my plasma and can't even hire proper phlebotomists that won't cause you to bruise every week. If you want to donate and be treated like an actual human being go to octopharma, Grifols or any of the many plasma centers in the area. Steer clear of Biolife plasma!! read more

BioLife is overall a great facility with amazing staff. The headache with this location is the wait times. Unfortunately all the other reviews regarding appointments are correct. They have a serious issue with honoring appointment times. It is a bit frustrating since they don't allow walk-ins. I've donated plasma here at least 6 times and every visit I'm left waiting at least 2 hours after my appointment time to even be checked in. I completely understand that they may not have the appropriate amount of staff to accommodate everyone, but a 2+ hour wait time when you have an appointment is a bit ridiculous. They should definitely start tapering or limiting appointments to prevent this issue. They recently started using buzzers, as many restaurants do for waiting patrons. I feel like this is definitely makes the wait easier since I'm able to sit in my car with the a/c. My last appointment was yesterday at 2 p.m. I was greeted upon arrival and had my temperature taken as per usual. The receptionist added my name to a list and handed me a buzzer, unfortunately a estimated wait time is usually not disclosed. My buzzer went off around 2:45 p.m., definitely a shorter wait time than I've previously experienced. I went inside and checked in on the computers, then the wait for the vital checks was about 20 minutes. There were a lot of people waiting to actually be seated in a chair to begin their donation. I ended up standing in line waiting to be seated for 35 minutes, which is insane. My donation wasn't even started until around 4:30 p.m., everything went smoothly after that. I will give them kudos on the extreme cleanliness of their facility, every appointment I've noticed that it seems very clean and they sanitize everything after each patient. I really appreciate them upholding COVID-19 precautions such as social distancing, required masks, and temperature checks as soon as you walk in. Every queue that you stand in has the placards on the floor to measure out the 6ft. The employees I've encountered have always been friendly and professional. I really hope they can figure out staffing issues or whatever the reason behind the ridiculous wait times. I am a very understanding, patient person and really enjoy donating to help out others but at times, even I am left frustrated over the wait. If you plan to donate plasma at this location, I would highly recommend insuring you have no prior time commitments afterwards and expect to be there for multiple hours. read more

I have been having to give plasma for cash for a long time now in Jacksonville, Fl. Unfortunately. I have been to literally EVERY plasma place in town and I know the good ones, the not so good ones, and the truly terrible. Was at one place, won't say the name, but when donors started fighting in front of the building, one of the phlebotomists went running out to see it with an exposed needle in her hand! It didn't even have the cover on it! God's honest truth. That was only ONE of the really ridiculous things I saw at this place! Only wish I was kidding. Then there's Biolife. Now, I will say that about a year ago, the place was always packed, and even though we were given appts., we rarely got in on time. And because there were always so backed up, we were given restaurant style buzzers and told to wait outside. When the buzzer went off, it was your turn. Sometimes there would be a dozen people waiting outside. Between that and the fact that I moved further away from their location, I stopped going there. But then recently, I received a great offer to come back and donate, so I went in, and I have to say, it was like a new place. They've changed things around, no more buzzers, no more long waits, it's great. But then it turned out that I had a medical issue that might keep me from donating this time around and so needed a clearance letter from my Dr. Well, we wound up needing 2 documents and the doctor was kinda dragging her feet and it looked I wasn't going to be able to donate. And how did I know that was going on? Because one of the nurses, Tasha Samuels, emailed me to tell me about it. And her truly amazing, over-the-top customer service didn't stop there. Since my Dr's office wouldn't get back with me about what was happening, Tasha did. She kept nudging them and at the same time was keeping me up to date on what was going on. Found out later that her colleague Vianca was helping too. Between the two of them, I was able to come in and have been donating regularly since. Who does stuff like that anymore? Who cares that much about their customers? Tasha and Vianca didn't go the extra mile, they went the extra 100 miles, and I'm really grateful for their outstanding customer service. The staff are very kind, the facility is very clean, and it's a good way to make some extra money while also doing it for a good cause. My issue is that 50% of the donations I have, my veins blow, I get hematomas, and once I even passed out on the highway on my way back home from a donation. There are nurses who hit the vein perfectly the first time every time, but when I get anyone else, my arms get messed up. Last week I went in for a donation and the first nurse missed the vein. They asked for someone else to adjust and the second person put that needle almost all the way up in my arm, I started crying because it hurt so bad, and I went home. The person who did it was fairly nice about it, but kind of just hastily wrapped me up, told me to put ice on it, and ushered me out the door. This is the result of that. read more

Normally I'd give this place a good rating, but it has gone downhill lately. I understand being short staffed working in the medical field myself, but being completely rude on top of being short staffed is ridiculous! There are a handful I absolutely adore, but quite a few of the girls have attitudes, probably due to being overworked but it's not ok. My very first visit I should have known not to come back... being a new donor I knew the process would take a while but not 8 hrs! My appt was around 10 am & I left around 6 pm, missing plans I had for later. Later I was informed I should have been put at the front of the line being my first appt & didn't even get to spin the wheel. I didn't bring water & of course didn't bring any food in. I've been donating well over a year, I typically get I'm & out within 2 hrs & always patient. Today I was told I had to wait in the new patient line (waited for 1 hour exactly) just to rescan my finger that they couldn't rescan last week because they were too busy. I had to hop out of line & run across the street to pee because their bathrooms were absolutely disgusting! Like pee all over the toilet seat & ground; when i came back in (maybe gone 5 min) I was told I needed to reschedule that I left so I couldn't donate. I'm quiet, I don't complain but there needs to be something done about this staff shortage here. I referred 2 friends & met them at the center for their first visits & a visit from myself & frankly was embarrassed how empty the staff was & piled up the donors were. I give so much credit to the girl checking in, registering new donors & having to do physicals... she was super helpful & told her I felt bad for her. I continuously see upset people in & out. Everyone was so nice my first was today and was about 2.5 hours including the donation portion, but your always doing something so you don't even notice the time. From the moment I walked in I was doing something which is how I like it. Everyone was amazing, very professional, nice, clean and on their game. Even though they had a lot of clients you never saw anyone sweat. They answered all my questions and there was no stress. You would think after that the two minutes would not have been a problem but of course they only want you to be understanding for their incompetence. You certainly will not get any back from them. I do not know why we make appointment. There is always an hour wait before you even start donations. Then donation takes another one hour. You are there a minimum of 2 hours ALWAYS. The positive was the nurse for my physical was super sweet with a great personality and professional. The physical facility is new and clean. No worries there. It's easy to book an appointment online. I've never donated plasma before and spent time on their website to familiarize myself. Made an appointment for 10am on a Saturday. The website said the initial appointment should take 2 hours total. Arrived on time. Parking is easy. There was a slow moving line of about 6 people when I arrived. Everyone was wearing masks due to COVID. It was difficult to keep 6 feet apart but generally people were 3-4 feet apart. Every step had a long wait. I was worried I would be deferred for high blood pressure. It took two hours just to get to that point. My blood pressure was acceptable so I continued. It took over 3.5 hours to see the nurse for my physical. I ended up being declined partly because I was on antibiotics. The website reads: If you are being treated with antibiotics, you may be eligible for plasma donation depending on the reason for receiving this type of treatment. The nurse said you had to be two days off antibiotics to donate without exception. I had also donated whole blood too recently which I missed on the website. I spend 4 hours of my day off there and 40 minutes drive time for nothing. Having an appointment didn't seem to mean anything. I can imagine having a great experience on a Tuesday at 2pm but this review reflects my experience in which I felt my time was wasted. I would be okay if it had been an hour I expected but 4 hours is excessive. Had I been able to donate it would have taken 5 hours. Not cool BioLife. read more

This place is horrible- the people lack personal skills and treat people like numbers. The phlebotomists are fresh from school and have NO idea how to interact with people-they don't talk to you or make you feel like a number. They don't give clear instructions so if you get skipped in line you'll have to wait another 30 minutes to get a bed. They don't take ownership of their mistakes and twice my arm has bruised. They require you to be within certain mileage to go to certain centers. They advertise on the radio for post covid compensation for plasma donations but the new Jacksonville office doesn't offer the bonuses or compensation the other offices do. But you can't go to the other offices because you aren't within 40 miles. Such a horribly managed system that my wife and I completely lost interest in donating plasma.
