I called ahead to ask if I needed to take my donations around back. I was advised there was parking in the front. When I arrived there were two designated donation parking spots. I took one of the spots as I had five large bags to donate. I got out of my car and snapped a picture for Yelp. By the time I check in and added my photo the front door to the donation center was propped open. A young man came out and assisted me with carry my bags inside. He then asked if I wanted a receipt and I advised yes please. He pushed a button on a machine on the wall and handed me a receipt with instructions for setting up a Goodwill account and completing an itemized receipt. Pretty smooth transaction. I'll drop off more donations at this location in the future.

Somebody answered and said "this is a donation center for donations." Ha! Parked in one of the two designated parking spots for donations. I thought that was convenient, not that people in Florida abide by such signs or rules. I grabbed a bag of donations and walked in to find an empty desk. I placed the bag down and peeked in the back. A lady was on the phone and held up a finger to me like "one moment." I went and got the rest of the donations and put them down on the floor. I donate without wanting a receipt so I left. That lady is probably still on the phone to this day.

It takes less than thirty minutes between blood pressure and heart rate check, answer health questionnaire, and blood donation. Donating plasma takes longer so it's one and done for me. I'll stick with whole blood donation going forward :) Last time I donated, I received a $10 gift card from Red Lobster, $10 e-gift card, and a tie die shirt. I've received gift cards from Walmart, Publix, and Red Robin depending on where the One Blood Mobile Bus is setup. Sometimes, they provide water and snacks too. Can't beat that! Tis the season of showing love and O positive is a perfect gift. This is my first time as a whole blood donor and it was pleasant. It didn't physically hurt. There was slight discomfort but I believe most of the pain is Apprehension and Anxiety. Get rid of those A-holes, and it's all good. Staff professional and friendly. I forgot her name but she answered all my questions and then some. Gave me one of all the stickers she had for my girl, packed me an extra Coke, tucked a long sleeved tshirt into my bag and cheerfully said "I'll see you next month! You get a blanket in January." I'm a total sucker for a good blanket. Even better though, I'm a sucker for a good cause. Share your power, it won't cost you a single dime. There were roughly 60 of us, and we packed 1000 boxes of food. That only took about an hour, so we were also given a tour of this impressive facility, which helps other local organizations and serves a part of the local emergency services. I came away feeling good about my employer for organizing the event and donating to a good cause.

FNEF depends on volunteers for sorting & packing in their warehouse and handing out food at their mobile food pantry. Through my company I have had the opportunity to volunteer at both the warehouse and mobile pantry. Each time has been a great experience. I've not had a reason to visit Baptist Beaches for a personal reason. I've been there to visit a…read morefriend and to take a family member there for their own injuries. While visiting my friend 5-ish years ago things didn't sit quite right with me. She was in the hospital for nearly a month with an excruciatingly painful kidney infection that just wouldn't heal quickly nor easily. To me, that seemed odd... but I'm not a doctor. She didn't seem to be getting what she needed to heal properly. Upon being discharged she sought other doctors for prolonged care. About two years ago, my mom fell and dislocated her shoulder. I took her to the emergency room at Baptist Beaches. Knowing she was in pain, she wasn't actually seen for any type of care (just checked in and places in a room for several hours before even meeting the ER doctor. While waiting she wasn't given anything for her pain, either.... Not even some ice to place on the shoulder. Once the doctor came him he was VERY short with her and spoke rather rudely, almost as if to childishly mock her because she, too, was being short and raising her voice. However, she was the one in pain! He even threatened to 'walk out of the room and not come back' after she told him that she didn't want morphine. She related it to another family member's death and it was an unpleasant trigger for her. He behaved quite immaturely as I waited for him to stomp his feet as he left the room. I literally had to be a referee for the two of them. To this day, my mom STILL cannot lift her arm much higher than where her elbow is. However, that is in part because she didn't go to physical therapy after her injury. A couple of months ago, I again had to take my mother to the ER immediately following a visit with her general practitioner. It was discovered that she had a blood lot in her leg. To this day, we don't know how big it is, if it's dissipated, where she's bleeding from, or exactly how serious it was. We DO know that this visit was much more palatable for her 5 day stay. The nurses were more polite and orderly in their interactions with her. They seemed to be knowledgeable and very thorough with their responsibilities and communications. In both cases, I'm grateful to have had an emergency room so close to her home!

I needed lab work first and the lady was nice and efficient. Then I as taken care of by a man whose name escapes me. Very nice guy. Justin gets an honorable mention iron since I talked to him on the phone. Everyone took good care of me offering me music and making me comfortable. Pleasant experience overall which is comforting especially for a woman of color. I'd definitely return. P.s. I traveled to come here.

Not only are yall advocating for WOMENS HEALTHCARE but y'all have provided a SAFE space when there was none for me and I'm beyond grateful for that. Appointments are typically in a group setting in terms of education and though it may not be the quickest it shows that you aren't alone any step of the way. Dr. Miller is beyond knowledgeable and has amazing bedside manner. Not only did he not rush you but he was happy to answer any questions. The techs and front desk lady were very sweet and helpful to each individual that walked in. The clinic is very cozy with words of encouragement, water, word games etc. There are magazines, pamphlets and even a few TVs. It actually wasn't freezing cold in the clinic. The people who leave negative reviews clearly don't know how the laws or medical protocol works. Yes we all have lives and things to attend to but if you expect to be in and out within 10-30 minutes that is not a reality at most medical facilities.
