Because the machine was malfunctioning I wasn't able to provide full plasma draw. I then proceeded to suggest my other arm but the machine still failed. I initially got to the facility at around 4:45pm. So I wasted 3 hours in the waiting room and then was penalized because of a failed machine that resulted with me not getting fully compensated for my time. When I spoke to the nurse, she stated I would still get full payment but I only received $46. I'm really disappointed and don't think I will come back in the future. I have two daughters that are autistic and my husband took care of them took them to the library but they closed at 6pm and they waited in the car outside of the facility for over an hour since I got out at 7:10pm. I was upset and asked to speak to a manager but nurse stated she was on the floor today because it is so busy. Left a note with my contact details and still haven't gotten a call or an email. Left it with the front desk and even explained my situation. This plasma place lacks customer service and I am definitely going to write a review for my experience. read more

Wouldn't recommend donating here tried using the bathroom after asking a nurse where it is the bathroom was, after my appointment and before leaving. she knew I am on HRT and I am a trans woman and told me where the woman's restroom was. then a staff member complained and he pointed out everything I'm dysphoric about my voice the way I look the way I dress. it was a uncomfortable experience the whole time. using my dead name and getting called sir just to find out I can't even donate cause of my kidneys I probably should have told them when I got there that I'm trans. The other staff were great. Maybe donate somewhere else the stuff i was being asked to sign sounds sketchy too. I would do some research on the company before going. I asked one lady to disconnect me and she said "This isn't my section ask her" and pointed to a girl with black hair and a pink visor; girl in pink said "I don't know how to do that" and walked away. Extremely unprofessional and unsafe experience. I was initially stopped by security and told I couldn't bring my service dog inside, which is against the law. That alone was concerning. The biggest issue was the blood draw. The employee assigned to me was moving at an alarming speed, far faster than I've ever seen in a medical setting. He appeared rushed, confused about which arm had already been cleared, and handled equipment carelessly. During the draw, he partially removed the needle and pushed it back into my vein, which resulted in a painful hematoma and a visibly swollen arm. The procedure had to be stopped. There was no apology, no real concern, and I was immediately asked if I wanted to schedule another appointment--while my arm was still swollen and painful. When I reported this to staff and management, I was told that "everyone has their own style." That is unacceptable. Medical procedures require a consistent standard of care, and this facility fell well below it. Worst blood draw experience I've ever had. It is currently 3:30 and I just got sat down so I need to wait around another 1 to donate and another 20 minutes for the staff to set up the machine. This experience has been horrible, it should not take 3-5 hours to donate plasma just to get 50 bucks. They are always severely understaffed and in top of that let new donors cut the line so it makes the process even slower. The customer service here is great, everyone is friendly and knowledgeable, however, they are consistently understaffed and seem to be over booked. I've donated 5 times, the last time, the phlebotomist missed my vein and then poked around in there so much, I ended up very bruised. Today they were so short staffed they recommended I reschedule for later in the day, which I did. When I went back, they turned me down because of the bruising THEY inflicted on my last visit. DO NOT GO HERE! Use a different plasma company. BioLife discriminates against felons on parole. I'm in excellent physical condition and passed all the preliminary tests and screenings on my first visit. But when I had the medical exam, the nurse took issue with my ankle monitor that I have to wear on parole. She wouldn't let me donate and said she "had to do a report and get approval. It's just procedure and I will call you tomorrow. It shouldn't be a problem". She never called. What does an ankle monitor have to do with my fitness to donate? I called several other plasma companies and none of them had a problem with my ankle monitor. Obviously I am going to them now, and I'll never go back to BioLife. I'm sharing my experience with you, so you can decide if you want to patronize such a company. Very poorly run facility. I'm not sure if they overbook, or if they are understaffed but you will usually spend 2-3 hours here. The staff that work here are generally nice and working their butts off. They don't stop moving and running around. Some are not efficient. Some do not go in the order of when the patient was put in the chair. or the order of when the machine was completed. While the new donor bonus is nice, after that's over the amount per donations is peanuts; $40 bucks. They sell that bottle of plasma they paid you $40 bucks for $5,000. Biolife is a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Look up their financials and profits if you want to feel ripped off. Maybe add in a small additional donation amount once the appt is over 2 hours? Or provide an estimated wait time on the app/online? Pay your staff more? do something....what's currently going on isn't working. read more

My first appt I was here for 3 hours when they give you an estimate of and hour or two. The staff was overworked, and there weren't enough employees to help the beeping machines Here I am back for my second appt which was scheduled for 11:05am with an approximate "one hour appt" ... it's now 12:30 and I'm still waiting to be seen and hooked up to the machine. I been coming here' off and on for a few months. I've had different people stick me and most of them are not gentle. Hurts when they poke you then they move the needle around to only say hold on and have someone else move the needle around and then stick the other arm, this has happened on multiple occasions. I know it's not pleasant to be poked but at least train to do it right the first so they don't have to keep poking around. 1 time should be enough. Not only that, they haven't gone in order when you are told to pick a bed. I have seen people after me get going which was quite frustrating. .. Bio Life was my first plasma center experience. When I walked in there was alot of people there to donate. The center looked very well lit and appeared to be clean. Some of the staff really seemed to enjoy their job while others seemed like they were there to punch the clock. They have recently went thru some changes and not for the better. The first couple of times I went ...things went rather smoothly. They had nice seating while you waited to donate. The last two times I went I felt like a piece of meat. They removed all the seating. I arrived early for my appointment and had to stand in line for 4 hours before I was called to donate. The staff seems a bit careless compared to where I am going notheyob two separate occasions They misplace the needle. Sometimes needless to say ...I not longer donate there and have found a much better place to donate my precious plasma. read more

Second time coming. Staff is still not efficient with their time, I had to reschedule the first time because it took longer than 2hrs to even be seated. Many staff member are too busy talking and laughing while there are multiple donors waiting. Once again, appointment was at 3:40pm, seated/started at 5:10pm and 'finished' at 5:35pm. Not a pleasant experience, you can tell the employee was in a rush to get off shift. Stuck the needle and left. Needle placement was very uncomfortable from the start. Wasn't able to finish with the visit due to RCB and Hematoma forming. I've donated blood and plasma more than 10 times and this has been by far my worth experience. Very traumatic! Now there's a chance I will not be able to donate blood anymore. Which is concerning due to this was my other source of income just to make ends met. Well, where do I begin? I've only been there once and they managed to bruise my both my arms and then deny another donation . I came in 6 days after my first donation and one of the girls in front was terribly rude and played naïve about her bad attitude. It seems they think people that come in there are losers !! They forget about the fact that it is a donor place so besides the fact we are getting money we are giving out a very precious part of our own blood !!!! I am saving others life for this crap ??? Omg she was by far the frekn rudest chick I came across in a long time. She was belittling me by her tone and attitude! She be acting like I'm in a crazy house and she the same one but yet she passive aggressive and says rude shit ! Once I get her name I'm reporting her ass !! After that hellish moment the nurse acted like the bruising is my fault saying I need to ice and then put heat on my arms !! I have mixed emotions on this business. I love that it's for the greater good and that we're compensated for our time and plasma. I've never had an issue with wait times like a lot of reviews I've seen on here. However, my last donation I received a hematoma. I didn't think this would be too big of an issue, I received an ice pack and a paper telling me how to care for it for the next couple of days, which I've done. I still have a giant bruise and some swelling as well as a bruise on my other arm, which they switched to after I notified staff that the injection site was painful, which it had never been before. I still can't extend my arm past a 90 degree angle and it's been 7 days. It looks like I've been hit by a car or something. I've also had a couple of interactions with an employee who has been complained about a couple times on her for her attitude but, I won't name names. I'm just posting this so people know what could happen if they choose to donate here. read more

Worst experience. I made an appt at 10:15 I was told to bring my ID, SS card and proof of address they said nothing about eating an hour before the appointment. I got there early and waited two hours for them to tell me that they refuse me because I had my break feast two hours before coming in. And I have to drink 1/2 my body weight in water before coming in. Please note, this is after they checked my protein and iron levels which were all fine. I do not believe for one minute that the people there all drank 1/2 their body weight in water before going in. Clearly they are screening for a certain type of person. I have donated for free to the SD Blood Blank on many occasions and never waited more than 15 minutes or been told no after having my iron and protein levels checked. Really wanted to avoid doing this, but three times is beyond frustrating - I think the customer service here is genuinely top notch but I'm going to stop coming to this location and will ONLY go to the location in Vista because I genuinely think there's something wrong with the pulse meters here. I just got denied for the third time in less than a week because my pulse was "too high"...the machine reading today said 102, then it shot up to 118 after I was asked to sit quietly in a corner for 5 minutes. For the second day in a row, I checked my pulse in the car before I left for my appointment, and again once I got back to the car. My pulse going in was an 84, it was only at a 92 when I got back to the car. Im literally still in the car, writing this review out and openly frustrated, yet my pulse still isnt as high as what the nurse just told me it was a few minutes ago. I wouldnt mind this so much if I wasnt driving from Chula Vista, but this is too weird to treat as a coincidence when my donation in Vista last week didnt have this issue at all, I just had a full physical with my own doctor on Monday that didn't have these issues with my vitals, and I have a funny feeling I wont have this issue again with the staff in Vista. I did schedule my appointment in advance a week before. I did arrived to your Center of Plasma at 9:30am, my appointment was on October 5th at 10:00 (lemon Grove location, San Diego CA). They help me until 11:00 am. I when to all the process that took including the nurse physical two and half hours in this point we are talking about 12:00pm. The nurse took to the bed because was my first time and I am a new donor at your location. When I was in the bed a woman Name Maria, hispanic started to set up the maquine and check my veins and told me that I can donate because I only have one veins, the same that I used for a year in 2018 for the entire year in Biomat without a problem. Why this woman with the bad aptitud rejected me when my friend and her boyfriend are donors in the same location and They only have one vein and the person the help them told them was perfectly OK. This is for a me a doble standard and I can sue you location because this is not an equal opportunity you should it treat everybody the same way. I have a feeling same I arrived to the bed that this women with the name Maria dislike me, I even said hello and she ignored me. I spoke with my two friend that only have one veins and they agreed to support me to sue you location for not treat everyone the same way. This is my personal opinion you should check veins before you make customer waste three hours of their life and hope, everyone that visit your center is not because enjoying this it is because we need the money, and you should have friendly people employee's to take care them. This is the second plasma center that i have donated at and to start it is very clean everyone is very nice mostly everyone. They are welcoming, laid back, do a really good job in making you feel comfortable. They have been very accommodating for donors who have hard veins to stick, me being one of them. Usually their is no issues everyone works together to cover eachother and I can say the new system they have with the sitting and waiting for your name to be called seems to run much smoother. The main reason for my review today is A TRAINING OPPORTUNITY regards to 1 employee who seems to want to sabotage me on purpose which is weird cause we never actually exchanged many words with eachother but the days that she works and I request either Ecelia or Jossilyn or Yareli who are the 3 out of the 5 phlebotomist who can get my vein with no issues theis one lead or sup or idk what title she hold but she always says no to my request and then some type of medical issue happens to me that day. Like the most recent was a hematoma because she said no to the phlebotomist request I ended up suffering a blood loss and have a bruise on my are that has not gone away and its been over a week going on 2 weeeks. Now dont get me wrong i dont mind being a guinea pig for training purposes. But there are some days that i and in a hurry and i prefer someone who i know can get my vein with no issues. Piper being one that can not get my vein either. idk why but everytime denies the switch and i end up with a huge hematoma black and blue a restick and i end up spending 2 hours minimum for a donation that usually takes me 30-35 min when stuck properly. Well today she went above and beyond on her quest to sabotage my donation, when i came to do my questionnaire I was flagged said I needed to speak to management. I did and she told me their was a deferral on my account to have someone tell me that they can not accommodate my requests any longer. And besically i get who i get hematoma or not i need to cross me fingers and hope for the best. (Not her exact words of course but basically what she was saying) So i would like to let everyone who plans on going here to donate watch out for Piper not sure why she has her panties in a bunch or what she has a gainst me being that we hardly spoke to eachother and the one time she tried to stick me she couldnt get my vein. Just know she doesnt care about causing you pain to your arm. She dug into me until i could no longer use that arm i had to switch and get a restick and she was un able to stick me in the second arm bruised me all up and then put on deferral on my account to tell me they cant accommodate my request. Some say she is a jealous type and i did not see it until now. I am liked by all the employees and i guess she doesnt like that.. not really sure but as soon as i get my sample results from another plasma center i will be switching back to them anyway as they have a better payout.
