This is the second plasma center that i have donated at and to start it is very clean everyone is very nice mostly everyone. They are welcoming, laid back, do a really good job in making you feel comfortable. They have been very accommodating for donors who have hard veins to stick, me being one of them. Usually their is no issues everyone works together to cover eachother and I can say the new system they have with the sitting and waiting for your name to be called seems to run much smoother. The main reason for my review today is A TRAINING OPPORTUNITY regards to 1 employee who seems to want to sabotage me on purpose which is weird cause we never actually exchanged many words with eachother but the days that she works and I request either Ecelia or Jossilyn or Yareli who are the 3 out of the 5 phlebotomist who can get my vein with no issues theis one lead or sup or idk what title she hold but she always says no to my request and then some type of medical issue happens to me that day. Like the most recent was a hematoma because she said no to the phlebotomist request I ended up suffering a blood loss and have a bruise on my are that has not gone away and its been over a week going on 2 weeeks. Now dont get me wrong i dont mind being a guinea pig for training purposes. But there are some days that i and in a hurry and i prefer someone who i know can get my vein with no issues. Piper being one that can not get my vein either. idk why but everytime denies the switch and i end up with a huge hematoma black and blue a restick and i end up spending 2 hours minimum for a donation that usually takes me 30-35 min when stuck properly. Well today she went above and beyond on her quest to sabotage my donation, when i came to do my questionnaire I was flagged said I needed to speak to management. I did and she told me their was a deferral on my account to have someone tell me that they can not accommodate my requests any longer. And besically i get who i get hematoma or not i need to cross me fingers and hope for the best. (Not her exact words of course but basically what she was saying) So i would like to let everyone who plans on going here to donate watch out for Piper not sure why she has her panties in a bunch or what she has a gainst me being that we hardly spoke to eachother and the one time she tried to stick me she couldnt get my vein. Just know she doesnt care about causing you pain to your arm. She dug into me until i could no longer use that arm i had to switch and get a restick and she was un able to stick me in the second arm bruised me all up and then put on deferral on my account to tell me they cant accommodate my request. Some say she is a jealous type and i did not see it until now. I am liked by all the employees and i guess she doesnt like that.. not really sure but as soon as i get my sample results from another plasma center i will be switching back to them anyway as they have a better payout. Really wanted to avoid doing this, but three times is beyond frustrating - I think the customer service here is genuinely top notch but I'm going to stop coming to this location and will ONLY go to the location in Vista because I genuinely think there's something wrong with the pulse meters here. I just got denied for the third time in less than a week because my pulse was "too high"...the machine reading today said 102, then it shot up to 118 after I was asked to sit quietly in a corner for 5 minutes. For the second day in a row, I checked my pulse in the car before I left for my appointment, and again once I got back to the car. My pulse going in was an 84, it was only at a 92 when I got back to the car. Im literally still in the car, writing this review out and openly frustrated, yet my pulse still isnt as high as what the nurse just told me it was a few minutes ago. I wouldnt mind this so much if I wasnt driving from Chula Vista, but this is too weird to treat as a coincidence when my donation in Vista last week didnt have this issue at all, I just had a full physical with my own doctor on Monday that didn't have these issues with my vitals, and I have a funny feeling I wont have this issue again with the staff in Vista. Terrible wait times... always understaffed... promotions per week keep going down... 2.5 hour average to go in and out... always waiting on someone for something... had multiple appointments cancelled due to "staffing issues" and with that being said no... you cannot collect your big donation if you somehow are involuntarily cancelled on. I did schedule my appointment in advance a week before. I did arrived to your Center of Plasma at 9:30am, my appointment was on October 5th at 10:00 (lemon Grove location, San Diego CA). They help me until 11:00 am. I when to all the process that took including the nurse physical two and half hours in this point we are talking about 12:00pm. The nurse took to the bed because was my first time and I am a new donor at your location. When I was in the bed a woman Name Maria, hispanic started to set up the maquine and check my veins and told me that I can donate because I only have one veins, the same that I used for a year in 2018 for the entire year in Biomat without a problem. Why this woman with the bad aptitud rejected me when my friend and her boyfriend are donors in the same location and They only have one vein and the person the help them told them was perfectly OK. This is for a me a doble standard and I can sue you location because this is not an equal opportunity you should it treat everybody the same way. I have a feeling same I arrived to the bed that this women with the name Maria dislike me, I even said hello and she ignored me. I spoke with my two friend that only have one veins and they agreed to support me to sue you location for not treat everyone the same way. This is my personal opinion you should check veins before you make customer waste three hours of their life and hope, everyone that visit your center is not because enjoying this it is because we need the money, and you should have friendly people employee's to take care them. I would recommend you go somewhere else for your plasma donation. I started donating here about three months ago at the BioLife Lemon Grove facility. The first three or four weeks were great. The center is clean and the employees were professional and courteous. After that first month, they removed all of the chairs in the waiting area and began making donors stand in line for two and three hours, waiting to donate plasma. The worst was last Sunday, October 13th. I checked in for my regular blood plasma donation and one of the phlebotomists/check-in persons, Adam, I believe his name is (he's got a red beard, red hair, wears glasses and has a really big mouth...you hear his voice blooming throughout the entire building.) He screamed at me, humiliating me in front of 50+ people. I entered the building, but had not had my screening yet. I accidentally left my phone in my car, so I told the security guard I was going to step right outside to retrieve it from my car, with view of the security guard. When I stepped back in Adam screamed at me and told me I needed to leave and I couldn't donate plasma that day. It would have been my second donation of the week, so he basically robbed me at the $80 I would've earned donating plasma that day. I have yet to meet a rude phlebotomist, but the nurse staff has been rude and condescending with every encounter.(thin, female, black scrubs, and a very sassy male) Also, there are times when people are overlooked and left in the lobby for literal hours. I've been to every plasma donation facility in San Diego. This is the only one I have ever I have negative experience. They managed to mess up not only once but twice in a row before my first time donor deal was expired. First time the machine malfunctioned. The next time I ended up developing a hematoma during the IV after my donation. They then differed me for 2 months because of subsequent complications . Then I missed over half of my first time patient deal with just a a sorry and massive bruising. Please listen to me and other reviews and go somewhere else. It's not worth getting botched! Update: After receiving multiple messages from BioLife regarding deals they're having I decided to try again. Woke up early for my appt at 7:30am. When I arrived I and was told I needed a physical that I was unable to to do today. I was told to go home again with no money feeling completely dissatisfied. Very busy almost every time I went. Plan on over 3 hours for your 1st visit, then 1 hr 45 min. to over 2 hours after that. Employees are good and all seems pretty ok at the Lemon Grove SD location. They did let some loudmouth donor talk on his phone for 45 minutes while donating. THAT SUCKED! Seems like if they need to work on getting people thru a little better. you start by often standing in line for 20-30 minutes! Maybe do a sign-in sheet and let people relax while they wait? This location has gone down tremendously. The time to donate plasma has doubled. When they first opened, it would take 1.5 hours from checking in and finishing the donation. Now it's taking 3 hrs. They are overbooking and they decreased the number of beds. Totally not worth it unless your day job makes minimum wage. read more

For whatever reason I have had more problems then not at this center. All due to "machine error" First time while Donating The machine alarmed out causing an error. Long story short. By no fault of my own I was "banned" from donating for 2 months. Because of a machine error. Fast forward. Come back. Again a machine error. This time I get half way through. Machine error. Mind you this place is packed usually so your looking at your intake being at least a half hour to 45 minutes. This time. Calibration error with temperature. I waited 20 plus minutes for intake. Mind you again. I've worked 12 hours overnight and came here. (I haven't donated in 3 weeks because it's problematic) I'm told I will not be donating today and as a matter of fact can't for the rest of this week (coordinating payment to get full amount , another issue entirely) Now after wasting over an hour and a half since getting off work I will now be driving all the way to Ramona. Complete waste of my time for a 25 dollar coupon, no payment and constant machine error. I'd rather drive farther to another facility and be paid more, this facility doesn't t pay much for the amount of time you spend) usually with some type of problem. Granted. The young ladies that work there ( most of them are fantAstic) but it's not worth all the hassles. Especially when it's my time and my donation. If I was you I would go to another center in town. What a huge waste of time, after 4 hours and 2 trips to the facility I was deemed ineligible, from one question from my medical history ( which I answered truthfully) but did not disqualify me until after 2 pre screening, my own medical history and during my interview that's when I was given the news. Although the wait times are a bit long, I had a good experience my first visit and the staff were very nice.

First of all there's such a short hand on staff that you end up waiting in line for over 2 hours. More often than not the machines have some issues which slows down the process even further. There are some nice understanding and helpful staff here but they're often overshadowed by the rude supervisors/managers who dismiss any questions you have as if you're in their way. Simple straightforward answers are fine but when they start cutting you off before you're even done explaining anything is so disrespectful. The care process is often way too rushed and makes the visit way more stressful than it should be. read more

I am very impressed with this center. I personally think the clinic works very efficently compared to other centers I've been to around San Diego. They have a very organized process. Inherently, there are going to be busy times where the wait is longer but the staff is really quick on their feet. I came on here to personally call out Jasmine. She has the magic touch where she always gets my vein easily and it doesn't hurt somehow. The other couple times I haven't had her, the girls couldn't find my vein and ended up totally bruising me. It was super frustrating. But Jasmine easily get me every time. She is sooo nice and I look forward to when she is working. They're lucky to have her! read more

My returner appointment was 11:45am. The entire clinic seemed chaotic and disorganized. I answered my questionnaire accordingly. Screening line took over 45 minutes, only 2 techs available with the Return donor line continuing to get longer. During screening the tech sent me to their examination area, and the nurse that performed the exam seemed incompetent, (I watched that nurse wander around the clinic lost while I was in the screening line)... I mentioned a cat scratch that's a week old from my own pet, and the screening tech believed it should've been fine. The Nurse performing said physical, approached every procedure with question/doubt in themselves. (Which scares the sh** out of me when coming to "medical clinics"). The nurse misplaced their flashlight and took awhile looking for it, to view a visibly healing/scabbing/scarring cat scratch.. Although I said I was coming from screening, they proceeded to ask if I had done my questionnaire and 1st physical. They seemed surprised by my answers however I'd had my first appointment & physical in SM, and I shouldn't be coming from screening if my questionnaire is incomplete. I was temporarily turned away anyhow. I can sense the insecurity in the nurse's conclusion, and looking at the Yelp reviews for this location, it seems to correlate. Maybe, it was blessing in disguise because reading these reviews really adds up to my experience as well. Im glad they weren't given the opportunity to give me hematomas or major bruisings. I tried to be efficient by scheduling an appointment, mind you the first open appointment available was two weeks out. I arrived, everything seemed pretty okay at the facilities. There's a girl at the front desk and asks me if I need anything. I would've asked , are you here for an appointment. So I gave her my name, time, and provide the items they need. She tells me to be seated and to have my items ready.... I sat there for 15 minutes and people were being called after I arrived... then I see a line for returning donors and that's taking time. I start to realize they're completely short staffed and not once was it communicated that it may take a while. I understand that it being my first time, I may have needed to reserve two hour, but I sat their for 45 minutes and was never called. The retuning donors line just got longer and then there was a new line forming for those waiting to meet with a phlebotomist. At any point, I think everyone would've appreciated a "thank you for your patience and understanding," or "sorry for the wait, we will be with you shortly". Nope it was never said. The girl that greeted me at first could've informed me. Most of us go their to donate and receive a little extra income doing so, but we don't have all day. I still want to give this place a try, even after my experience and reading a review stating that they still haven't managed their time quite well. I'll go ahead and follow up if I do so. read more

Went there 4 times for no reason. First time my prom was too low, that's on me. Second time they said they need to see my social security card AGAIN after I showed it last time. Third time they tell me I have to bring in proof of address since my ID address is a mailbox. So I come again for the 4th time. Appointment was at 9:30. Everything was taking so long, but going fine. Then, after I had been waiting for three hours, I asked if I could go get something to eat since it's been so long, because I know they want to you eat right before they do the procedure, BUT they had me waiting so long and they say I can't donate because it's been too long since I've eaten. Wowww ok. So I ask if I could go get food, they say if I leave I can't return to donate today. So I have someone bring me something and I ate it, then they say it wasn't enough and I can't donate. Apparently they are understaffed, well then don't make so many damn appointments and make people wait for HOURS. They ask me if I wanna schedule another appointment, HA! No thanks! I've actually NEVER written a review before but wow. I was supposed to donate plasma after waiting an HOUR. I forgot my earbuds so I went to my car to grab them. I take my seat and some lady brought me back out to tell me I couldn't donate. She said I'm not allowed to go to my car unaccompanied. I went to my car last week for the same reason and nobody told me anything. I was able to walk out and back in with no issues. I offered to go back and wait another 40 minutes in line. She said no. I offered to come back at a different hour, she said no. She's acting like I went to take a quick drug break in my car wtf. Literally just wanted my earbuds. Also I was parked right in front. Only half of my body made it in the car to quickly grab my earbuds left on the passenger side. If I wanted to do something sketchy I'm sure it would take way longer? She didn't have an attitude but the way she said it rubbed me the wrong way. Her tone? It was cold, snappy, and she almost sounded proud to kick me out :( Maybe shes just doing her job, I don't know, but she didn't have to treat my like that and could've been more compassionate. But she told me this is something everyone is supposed to know and that they inform us of this at the beginning. Like lady, if I knew this I wouldn't sacrifice my time/ spot to donate! I wouldn't just run out to my car and get myself kicked out! I was trying to hold back my tears. I went to my car to cry. Now that I know this I understand, I get it. It's honestly not such a big deal, I'll just ask someone to go with me. But I was already having a bad day, drove 35 mins in heavy rain to get here (someone nearly swerved in to me on the freeway), I just wasted so much time here to get nothing out of it, then I had to deal with that lady. I'm only coming back because I need the money/and it's amazing that my plasma gets to help people in the process. A win win. I would give 0 stars but everyone else is a literal sweetheart. Started donating plasma here in Jan, policy is 2 veins 3 inches apart. I have a tattoo sleeve on one arm so it's ineligible. They cleared 2 veins on the same arm that day and I've donated twice a week every week since with absolutely no problem. I drink tons of water and have ginormous veins, never once had any type of bruising or hematoma. My last visit, it happened. Somehow the phlebotomist botched my arm which required today a nurse to examine it. She proceeds to tell me they never should have cleared my veins they are not far enough apart and I can no longer donate. I'm sorry what? Ive been to this same facility approximately 60 times this year and at no point, did a single one of your associates think my veins were a problem. Now all of a sudden I can't donate? Thinking your team should brush up on your policies. Super frustrated. ​ read more

IS PLACE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST PLASMA CENTER ON THE PLANET!! They DO NOT honor any of the coupons that they put out!! I was seen there one time roughly one year ago, after my second visit they called to inform me the lab wanted a blood sample because my protein was too low. I did not go back because it was something I could deal with on my own. Here we are a year later I am in between employment struggling to just stay afloat and I see coupons for BioLife new and returning donors can earn $950 for their first 8 visits, awesome I figure worse case they will deduct my first 2 visits from a year ago for the returning donor pymt right?! Absolutely not upon issuing me a new card ii was paid 33.19 and was advised by the management "TOM" that I am not a new or returning donor and that they were only paying me $40 for 3 hours of my time, he cannot tell me why my card only has $33 dollars on it, I have to call the bank, I do and THEY INFORM ME THE CENTER TAKES A 4.95 ACTIVATION FEE, so I had to call the credit card company when he knew the entire time why there was only $33 on it! By the end of all of that they fully succeeded in making me feel like a complete loser!! I'm just beside myself, zero discussion, so when you call as a new patient don't believe a word you are told because they are making it up as they go along!! Horrible experience for a returning donor. Scheduled an appointment for this morning and when signing in with fingerprint to fill out questionnaire first of all it doesn't read my fingerprint 90% of the time and bring up other donors so after 20 tries I got it to work and was told didn't have an appointment and to see an employee . After resetting my fingerprint was then told to go see the nurse for unknown reason. According to nurse there was a deferral in the system which said I could not donate until tomorrow and would have to come back . She said she would tell to manager to see if the could approve me since it was a "glitch" in the system according to the nurse . Instead of helping me understand the situation the manager came and just defended herself and made me seem like I'm crazy. Not very good customer service for a manager. This was only day to the week I could make it and disregarded other plans to make it today but was turned away and still don't even understand the real reason. I understand if I have not donated in a couple months you need to do an additional blood test but every other time I have came here it was done same day so to be told I have to come back tomorrow does not make sense. Fix your glitch in the system so people don't waste their time and gas money going here for no reason. If the system showed a deferral then why let me schedule an appointment if you already knew I could not donate this day . The staff are nice enough but are suuuper busy and really do not care about your time. There were several instances where I had to deal with something administratively and it took them forever to address me. For instance (after waiting 50 minutes in person to have my issue examined) the manager told me to leave, and said that she'd call me back with a proper response the next day. She did not call, so I had to, and the staff member who picked up told me that the issue hadn't been examined and that she'd call me first thing the next day. She did not call me, so I had to contact her, and by that point, it was too late in the day for me to come in and get my issue resolved (I don't have a car so it's a two hour commute for me). The thing is, this could all have been resolved when I had come in weeks prior, and at this point, due to a housing contract constraint, I am no longer eligible to donate. Moreover, I wouldn't have cared about the fact that it took so long to get things resolved if the staff worked within the time frame they had told me. If you're telling someone you're going to examine something and then call them back, is it not reasonable to expect them to examine the issue and call you back?? Again, staff are nice. The facility looks professional and the physicians definitely take care of you. But the overall experience is extremely disappointing:/ read more
