I've seen a lot of PTs in my life. No one is as good at figuring out the root cause of a problem like Noriko Arnstein! She is the best!

Therapists are great (Chris rules!) But the business itself is really a mess…read more Front desk is completely absent and oblivious to patients most of the time, where someone is there. More often than not...no one is there at all. Appts can be significantly late, too often. Their billing Dept. and process though...what a joke. They have a written policy...that they break over and over. No statements, no record of treatment, no treatment codes, no explanations at all, in any fobrm/way. Months to get ANY info about costs...long after miltiple visits, again violating their own written policy! Have recieved TEXT MESSAGES ftom an unknown number as an 'invoice'...with a link to a random pay site. SCAM.. or new (super shady) billing practice that breaks every one of their policies??? Who knows!! But bro, trust me! VERY poorly run and managed business!

I wanted to share my experience at Union Physical Therapy, because I think there's a genuine…read moreopportunity here for growth -- particularly around how front desk staff interact with patients. My PT appointment happened to fall on an already difficult day. My doctor's appointment ran 30 minutes over (something entirely outside my control), which made me late for my scheduled visit. I called ahead, let the front desk know I was en route via Uber, and offered to accept a shortened session rather than cancel. What I received in return was a firm "no" and notice that I would be charged a $100 no-show fee -- for an appointment I was actively trying to make it to, that would have only cost me a $40 copay. I understand that late policies exist for good reasons, and I respect that. What gave me pause was the complete absence of flexibility or empathy in how the situation was handled. Healthcare is rarely a straight line -- delays happen, systems are complicated, and patients are often already navigating stressful circumstances by the time they arrive at a PT office. A 5-minute conversation that acknowledged that reality would have gone a long way. There's also a certain irony in a physical therapy practice -- a field built around patience, recovery, and meeting people where they are -- having front desk interactions that feel more transactional than compassionate. Bedside manner isn't just for clinicians. The front desk is often a patient's first and last impression of a practice, and that interaction sets the tone for the entire care experience. I'm not writing this to be harsh. The therapists themselves may be wonderful. But I'd encourage the practice leadership to invest in training front desk staff on de-escalation, patient communication, and the kind of grace that makes a difficult healthcare journey a little more manageable. Patients who are trying to show up -- even imperfectly -- deserve to be met with some of that same effort.

Went here for months and months without missing an appointment. Work as a firefighter, worked a 72 hour shift and missed one appointment and they charge you $100 out of pocket, doesn't matter how long you've been a good patient. Also, it was $25, but they sent out a very easy to miss policy revision through EMAIL changing it to $100 with no agreement from patients. And when you call the front desk concerned with the 400% increase, she lets out an audible, "oh my god" and treats you like garbage. Also, she didn't let my PT know that I called in to apologize to my PT as soon as I'd realized I'd missed the appointment. Rude. My Physical Therapist was super awesome though and if you go here I would recommend Leah Kern, however, I don't agree with management's business practices. Been getting PT just down the street at one of their competitors and am treated much better and they have better, AND less expensive cancellation policies (and parking too).

I called ahead to check about insurance for my husband they said it was covered (through premera) turns out it's covered after you hit $3200 out of your own pocket.. which you'll do pretty quick I think they assume by giving you a treatment plan of 2 times a week for 8 weeks at $180 a pop. Maybe I should've known this but also feel like this should've been clarified when I called over the phone. Either way I still would've sent my husband just didn't love what felt a bit like a bait and switch. The chiro was late. They "ran out" of parking passes, we ended up having to pay for parking because we went over the 90 minutes, that was just kinda the cherry on top. I won't go into details like I usually do, HIPAA and all (well, because it's not your business),…read morebut I will say I LOVE LOVE LOVE my PT. I would give you her name, but I'm not sure how specialized she is, and HIPAA and all... But I've tried out a few PTs in my day and the one I have here is just awesome--totally chill and yet well-versed in her field, totally personable yet professional enough so that you don't feel strange letting someone lay their hands on you. The only thing I don't like about this place is that, every time you check in, they must check your info--number, address, insurance, etc. I don't like this because HIPAA and all and it's just weird. Maybe it's a UW thing, as it's happened before at another location, but most other places in my life simply say, "Has anything changed?" or even have it on the sign-in form. Maybe that doesn't work for those who simply have forgotten, but I think there's a better way, such as having them check in electronically, assuming they can read. I also think it's weird because, for the elderly, they ask things like, "Are you employed?" or "What about your spouse?" I don't know about you, but if I had just lost my job, that might be a sensitive question; isn't the more relevant question what insurance they have? It's even worse asking about a spouse; what if they are dead? Sensitive and irrelevant. But my PT is awesome enough for me to deal with this, and apparently many others since their wait list for new patients can be pretty daunting. That said, I plan to write to the administration at the hospital to let them know they may wish to consider making changes. Bottom line: If you are effed up at any point, check 'em out! Fingers-crossed you never need them.

Rachel, my therapist, provided exercises to correct the mechanics contributing to my back problem, and explained how they work. She listened carefully to any difficulties I encountered, and proposed alternative exercises when necessary. The exercises helped enormously, and I am so grateful that I have been able to resume many activities which I had difficulty performing before my PT sessions. Rachel and her assistant Ken were friendly, thorough and explained the proper areas to focus on when exercising. I highly recommend Therapeutic Associates. Thank you!

I have been working with Dr. Rachel and her aides for the past 3 years, for different injuries. The team has been Beyond Outstanding; Beyond Superb in making sure that I become healthy and well again!! Dr. Rachel would take the time to demonstrate the exercises, and then have me perform them, with a watchful eye looking for proper form; time to hold reps; and the number of reps per set! She would have me push myself to get better, but not enough so that I would injure myself! She welcomed any, and all questions on performing the exercises; even explaining the purpose of each exercise in reaching therapy goals! At the end of each session with Dr. Rachel, she would give me the homework exercises that I would perform over the week for improvement. I would diligently follow her prescribed program. and would then gain strength, mobility, and flexibility soon!! Dr. Rachel crafted a homework exercise program that made me reach my physical therapy goals in no time!! I cannot say enough great comments about Dr. Rachel and her caring approach to help the patient!! She cares for the health and well being of her patient, and it shows!! Other therapists that I had for a few days, Adrienne and Dre also made sure that I had tremendous improvement with my therapy goals! All of my therapists, including Dr. Rachel were so actively involved with my success, that they would sometimes work out with me, at the same time I performed the exercises!! Talk about investment in my success!! Physical Therapy Aides: Isobelle, Audrey, Francis, Elijah, Becky, Chloe. Patrick, and Mario would take over in the 2nd Half of my session. They showed me, and had me perform again, the exercises that Dr.Rachel had me do, and then also had me do additional exercises that Dr. Rachel had prescribed to help me improve even faster. The aides just like Dr. Rachel, watched me carefully for proper form; time for holding the reps; and counted the number of reps per set. The aides like Dr. Rachel pushed me hard to perform the exercises, but not enough to hurt myself. Aides also had me perform the homework exercises correctly, so as to ensure that I knew them well enough when doing them during the week!! I had 3 different injuries over the past 3 years. All of my injuries no longer exist!! I actually have much more strength, mobility, and flexibility than I had before my injuries!! I have reached levels of success in my therapeutic goals, that I did not believe were possible!! Should I need PT in the future, I will not hesitate to go back to Therapeutic Associates, Ballard Physical Therapy!! I would strongly recommend anyone who wants to reach their highest PT goals, to go to Therapeutic Associates, Ballard Physical Therapy!! I have reached beyond my wildest dreams, Physical Therapy Success that I did not think was possible!! I owe all of my success to Dr. Rachel, and her staff at Therapeutic Associates, Ballard Physical Therapy!!
