(888) 347-2010, which is the one I'm reviewing) and it saddens me that this is my first Yelp posting ever, but my experience with Chemtech was so negative for squirrel trapping/removal that I had to post. First off, they require full payment up front, which is already an issue, but hey, I had a rodent emergency that seemed... somewhat straightforward, so I figured it'd get resolved quickly and went with it. Second, they can't adhere to any kind of schedule. While setting an appointment, I was dealing with "Steve" who said I wouldn't need to be present when they made their first inspection of the our house and the problem. As a result, I didn't set an official appointment and when the next day rolled around, I got a phone call at 7pm on my way home from work asking, "Where are you? We've been waiting for an hour." Their "inspection" then occurred at 8pm in the dark with a flashlight, when no one could really see anything. Two nights later they put up a couple of traps over some holes that were in spots completely unrelated to where the sounds in the house were coming from and... that was it! No additional searching (particularly in the area of the house that I indicated the noises were coming from), no checkups beyond what was done in the dark at night. And no visits. I finally needed to get some repairs done and asked them two days before the repairs began (around 3 weeks after the traps went up with no success because... they weren't in the right place) to remove the traps so work could begin. No response. So I had the repairmen remove them. Steve went ballistic saying that "his property" had been removed and I "let someone touch his traps." and ended it with "This case is closed." So. Customer service = 0. Value = 0 (They got a LOT of money up front for a total of around 1.5 hrs of work). Success = 0. Avoid at all costs.

After two weeks, my squirrels situation had been resolved and Steve/Andrew came back to close the entry points. Steve was super responsive and professional during the two weeks of waiting and trapping. I was impressed that Steve responded to my call and gave me an appointment on the same day especially it was the day before Thanksgiving. This company does accept credit card, will provide a written receipt, and is forthcoming about rates and fees. So many companies I spoke with were either cash only or had quoted a wide range of costs/fees that made it difficult to gauge what the end result might be. John has been a pleasure to work with and it is reassuring to know of a reliable exterminator who will be around for many years to come.

They sprayed and then came back and sprayed again for the follow up appointment. My problem is it never worked. I texted the guy back saying I was still getting bitten but I never got a response. 800 $ down the drain! Bites continued for a while until I bought some different pesticides online and treated it myself out of desperation; they seem to be doing the trick. The pesticides he used could be purchased for $100 online and a sprayer for $30. Save yourself the trouble, worst $800 I've ever spent.

I called on Friday to ask for an inspection. I was told there were no Saturday slots available, but…read morewas offered between 9a-12p on Sunday. I happily took the slot, figuring that even if they came at 12, I'd still be out in plenty of time to make a 1:30 appointment in Bushwick. On Sunday, I received a call from the technician at 11:30 telling me he'd be at my apartment by 12 noon. At 12:10, with no sign of him, I called and was told he'd be there in two minutes. Five minutes later he called and told me it would be another 30-45 minutes (so he wouldn't even arrive until at least 1p). I told him I could not work around a 1p arrival and that I would call the main office to reschedule. The main office was kind and apologetic, and offered me a later window of 5-7p that same night. At 7:20, after receiving zero communication from anyone, I called the main office to learn that they were still running behind, with an apology. After acknowledging that I'd spent 6 hours of my day waiting, I was told I'd get a call back in 5 minutes to straighten out the problem. One hour later, after receiving no call, I called the main line once again. This time I received a voicemail greeting. I left a message stating that after spending the greater part of my day waiting with no communication, I would be taking my business elsewhere. Twenty minutes after that, I received a call from the technician (who for some reason blocked caller ID), once again apologizing and offering to schedule an appointment for the following day. I informed him that I had no time that day, and that after multiple chances to communicate clearly with me and not doing so, the business has lost my trust. Though everyone was very polite when I spoke with them, the fact of the matter is that I continually restructured my schedule to accommodate a service that never transpired. A call to inform me of the perpetual scheduling snafus would have gone a long way. I prefer to support local businesses, so it saddens me to give these guys one star.
