Beware of scam brokers like Birch Gold. Firstly, just consider others like Miles Franklin or KEPM because they're fair and won't charge outrageous premiums. In September 2023 I converted my traditional and Roth IRA accounts to precious metals with Birch Gold. The representatives were helpful enough and even offered me custodial services at no charge. I felt good about it for a long while until I started looking into other, more honest aforementioned brokers. Little did I realize at the time that they were charging me as much as 470.04% premiums on some of the silver assets in my order! Yes, almost 500%!!! Now that's a spread! In addition, they sold me these funky 1.85oz products and other "Laurel" coins that aren't common and don't really have a buyer in the free market. I consider this unbelievably predatory behavior from a company that I trusted after hearing about them via Ron Paul's Liberty Report. If I could go back I would have shopped around a little more rather than just placing my trust in them via Ron Paul's credible endorsement. Despite the market increase in gold & silver since that time in late 2023, I feel horrible about the dishonest practices of this company and how they scammed me out of a large percentage of my hard-earned savings. I've contacted Guy Artuso and tried to recoup what I lost with my initial order. He gave me buyback prices that reflect a spread of approximately 58% from Birch Gold Group's current ask prices. If they were to sell a new customer my exact asset portfolio, it would cost that customer $266,416.76. So why is my buyback offer only $111,581.65? No progress with them as of yet, but I've found a financial advisor who knows attorneys who specialize in these types of complaints, so I'm feeling hopeful even if all else fails. In summary, DO NOT TRUST Birch Gold Group. They will scam you out of your hard-earned retirement savings just like they did to me - and they won't lose a wink of sleep over it either. read more

Based on our experience our message is "DO NOT trust these people". We transferred a portion of our retirement savings to invest in gold and silver as a way to diversify. Since we are not experts in the precious metals market, we relied on the guidance of their reps. We were encouraged to purchase their ¼ oz. gold and silver coins, because these coins traded at higher values. The rep claimed to be personally invested in them as well. What we later discovered was deeply disturbing. These coins do not appear to have any unique or widely recognized market demand outside of what Birch presents. There is no transparent way to independently verify the claimed value of these coins online, leaving customers dependent on the company's word. More concerning were the fees. We were charged approximately a 64% premium on gold coins and an 82% premium on silver coins. When we later inquired about liquidation, those premiums had dropped dramatically--to about 18% for gold and 9% for silver. In other words, a significant portion of the value we were led to believe existed had effectively disappeared. The result was a significant loss in the value of our investment, even though the gold market had risen by 55% and the silver market by 145% during the same period. They took advantage of the trust we placed in them and ended up pocketing roughly 40% of our retirement savings. They appear to be specifically targeting older, conservative individuals nearing retirement--people who can least afford to lose that kind of money. They are endorced by several well-known conservative figures. I want nothing to do with any of them. It's hard to believe these endorsers are unaware of what's happening, which makes their continued support deeply concerning. Whether it's willful ignorance or financial incentive, it reflects poorly on their judgment and character. Honestly, it's difficult to say what's more disappointing--actions of Birch, or the people who continue to promote them despite everything. read more

Please do your homework before doing business with Birch Gold Group! On 1/5/22 I purchased metals with Birch Gold for my Roth and Traditional IRA accounts with them. I was advised by James Collins to purchase mostly fixed mintage coins as the safest investment. When I received my first statement from Equity Trust the value reflected was significantly lower than what I had invested. I called to ask why the value of my account was so low but was assured by Mr. Collins that the value of my accounts were much higher than reflected, as that is only the melt price, and my coins were worth much more than that. In January of 2026, I requested my buyback values and was sick to my stomach when I learned that they won't even pay spot prices at buyback and the offer was even lower than the values reflected in my Equity Trust account. This raised serious red flags with me and I decided to investigate further. What I learned is that I was overcharged significantly on both accounts at the time of purchase: Roth: I paid a 94.49% premium, which equates to an overcharge of $30,139. Assuming normal premiums at the time of purchase, I should have been able to purchase an additional 1,102 ounces of silver. Traditional: I paid a 57.4% premium, which equates to an overcharge of $6,053. Assuming normal premiums at the time of purchase, I should have been able to buy an additional 3oz of gold. So between the two accounts I overcharged by $36,193, and explains the lower value reflected in my Equity Trust accounts from the outset. Using spot prices as of 1/26/26 and the amount of metals I should have been able to purchase at the time of initial investment, this equals an approximate difference of $141,012 from where I should be to where I am. Silver: $114.09 x 1102 ounces = $125,712.18 Gold: $5095 x 3 ounces = $15,285 The excessive premiums robbed me of my true earning potential and without the high appreciation in the value of the metals during this time, would have left me way in the negative. Birch scammed and misled us. After a pleasant purchase, we realized we were scammed at buyback. Please research and buy elsewhere from a more reputable dealer. In March 2022, after listening for several months to Birch's President Phillip on a conservative podcast, I invested through Birch Gold in Gold Australian Florins and two-ounce Silver Australian Florins into an IRA rollover. I initially contacted Birch and inquired about bullion in an IRA, but representative Jack told me Florins were the right products for my portfolio as they maintain the premium, and being new to precious metals, I trusted that guidance. Here's what that guidance has now cost me. I was charged a 73.80% premium on gold and an 81.73% premium on silver. Industry standard is roughly 10% on gold and 20% on silver. Since then, gold spot has increased over 158%. Silver spot has increased over 221%. These are extraordinary, historic gains. And yet my effective return is 49.77%. My gold returned 42.18%. My silver returned 68.75%. In a market that has more than doubled and tripled, I barely broke even relative to what I should have earned. The reason is simple. The inflated premiums I was charged at purchase evaporated at buyback. Those premiums didn't just decline, they went completely negative. Had I been sold standard bullion at fair premiums, I would have purchased an additional ounces of gold and silver with the same money. At today's spot prices, the value of my portfolio would be about 58% more than Birch's buyback offer. I was told these coins were better for me. They weren't. The premiums didn't protect anything. RUUUUNNNN - DON'T WALK - AWAY FROM BIRCH GOLD!!!! I was scammed by Brock Kelly at Birch Gold Group. I trusted him when he recommended that I buy "fixed mintage" and "proof" gold and silver coins over bullion. I questioned him about why they cost so much more than gold and silver bullion. He assured me that was because there was additional cost to mint the coins and that they were more valuable as collectors' items. He also said during market "recessions" the coins usually outperformed the bullion and would be easier to sell. He claimed that the proof coins are "IRS approved" which is a scam tactic - bullion and other minted coins are also approved for IRA accounts. LIES ALL LIES!!! I was steered into gold proof coins at a total cost of over 100% and silver proof coins at 368% over spot price in the fall of 2023 - meaning some of these products remain under water even after this historic rise in metals pricing. I was overcharged by about $52,000 which translates to an opportunity cost of over $220,000 in lost portfolio value had I allocated those dollars toward bullion with a reputable company that didn't scam investors with exorbitant markups!!!! FRAUD ALERT!! I was extremely overcharged for my gold and silver coins. In March of 2022 I moved my 401k into an IRA with Brich Gold. After speaking with Phillip Patrick, who seemed very informative and upfront with information they proceeded to cheat me. I was overcharged roughly 75% on my silver coins and over 50% on the gold coins. This is over industry standard which is roughly a 20% charge. The market has doubled since I initially invested and three years later after the price of gold doubling and the cost of silver nearly trippling, my account is worth less than my inital investment. If the market didn't go up as well as it did over the last few years I would actually be looking at a substantial loss in my investment, a roughly 30%-40% loss. I brought this issue up immediately after my initial investment my statment was showing a 35% loss, I spoke with a "Jeremy" who became quite irate with me because I was loudly asking why my account was showing 35% less than my initial investment. Jeremy told me that I was wrong, that I just didn't understand how the metal market worked. Long story short I was charged a premium of 61.29% above the spot price of gold when I should have paid only 10%, I was over charged 51.29%. I was charged 96.49% above the spot price of silver. I want to give a big "thank you" to Birch Gold Group for helping me move my 401k into a gold IRA. They were great every step of the way -- what I thought was going to be a long and difficult process was super easy, and I'm happy to say that I finally feel like my money is in bit of a safer place than where it's been up until now. I feel like I had done a really good job of putting money into the 401k plan with my old employer. I was with them for over 10 years and had put in a consistent amount each year. There was quite a bit of money in the account when I quit that job, all in some "mixed portfolio" mutual fund that they recommended, which was made up of some kind of mix of stocks and bonds and stuff, and then it just sat there for several years. Then a few years ago, during the recession, I watched in practical horror as my portfolio went down... and down... and down. Jeez, everything I had saved for! All of a sudden something like half of it was gone. I'm retired and I'm not a licensed stockbroker or anything but I know a thing or two about money and managing finances. I first contacted Birch Gold Group in Burbank for their free investor's kit for gold and silver. What I got was a phone call from someone asking me a bunch of personal questions and when I asked for their kit I was told that it's just a fancy brochure with a bunch of pictures of gold coins. First clue this company was a rip off. I finally told him to send it or I would hang up. Did some research on the company and on their website they list they have addresses in London and Singapore and Burbank, CA. Only the one in Burbank is legit, the other two are shadow offices or virtual offices, they don't really exist, only collect mail. Second clue it's a rip off. Got their 'kit' which is only a color folder with pictures of collectible gold coins and pages of old people holding hands saying, "Security, this is why you buy gold..." and on and on. No prices, no specific products, no information on their markup, just emotional buttons. And no information about the company. Who are they?How long in business? Who owns it? Are they licensed? Nothing. A few days later, I received a call from their telemarketing 'opener'. Would you like a market update? "Sure", I said. They put me on with Jake Kennedy, a fast talking English fellow who was obviously reading from an article they probably passed around as their script. When I asked him specifics, he didn't have a clue. He was telling me about how the value of the dollar is going down and that I should buy gold. "Well, that's not true. Compared to other currencies, the value of the dollar is the strongest and gold and silver are dropping as compared to other commodities such as oil for example." That stumped him and I could tell that he didn't know jack. Ok, I thought, he's just an idiot reading what he's told, maybe I can still buy from this company. Gold is gold, right? "How much is your gold, what is your mark up?" Then, it really gets interesting, he tries to talk me into buying collectible gold and silver coins. Calling it investment grade. What the heck is 'investment grade'? That's the silliest thing I've ever heard. No such thing. We went back and forth and I could tell that this idiot didn't have much life experience or know what he was doing. So he transfers me to his boss, Vince Miller. He started shouting into the phone about how everyone is buying investment grade and how gold will go up in price and on and on. When I asked specifics, he didn't know either. He even lied and told me I would have to report my gold when I sold it, that is a lie and only pertains to a few types of bullion gold and any cash transaction above 10K is reported anyway. He was trying to sell me collectible gold coins from a hundred years ago. When I asked how much gold is in it, he didn't know. Ok, he then tries to sell me silver dollars, when I asked how much silver is in it, he didn't know. As he's talking, I'm looking up the prices and coins on APMEX , a well known gold and silver dealer. Meanwhile, this guy keep lying to me over and over. Turns out they just want to sell collectible gold and silver coins at a 30% mark up. That's their scam. And if you buy bullion bars, which is what you should be buying, they mark it up too. You can get better prices from APMEX. What is your buyback price? He didn't know. Can you guarantee buyback? He didn't know. Why should I buy from you at a 30% markup when the same gold coin is available from reputable companies for only a 3 or 4% mark up? He didn't know. In a nutshell, their scam is to fast talk people into buying collectible coins or proofs for their IRA's. They tack on a 30% or higher markup. If you put 100K of your IRA into gold with these scammers, they'll take 30K of it. How's that for an investment. ? Take a pass on these guys. Scammers. I can't wait to hear their response on here.
