The hospital can be hard to access if you don't have a car, it is almost a mile from Rochdale town centre and the bus which serves the hospital is not very frequent. This is made even more frustrating when considering the hospital car parking charges, which seems extortionate for a hospital. The drop-off and pick-up area is free, so if you can have someone waiting in a car, it will be cheaper. The staff seemed nice enough, I was in and out quickly, but this was down to getting the last X-ray appointment of the day, and obviously, the staff were like me in the sense that they just wanted to get home. There is a small Cafe inside. 3* - The hospital is fine, much better within the trust in terms of facilities and accessibility with everything being gradually transferred out.

Unless you have been in the same situation you won't know what I mean. At the same time I was there there was a drunk idiot visiting also(I was drunk too but not in a twatty way) and he was being really nasty and kicking off with the nurses and staff. It seems as though they decided to take it out on me and treated me like I was him. Very unprofessional if you ask me. I have to visit every few months or so to see my specialist Nurse and it is always a decent experience,as long as I don't fall over in the snow!!!!

My experience have all been with the Minor Injuries unit (broken toes, sprained ankles etc) and they've always dealt with me quickly and easily. I was last here last week with a sore foot I'd got while running. In the space of less than an hour I was seen by a nurse, x-rayed, sent back to the nurse and told what was wrong with me - because it's a way out of Leeds, you always get such quick service and treatment, and the nurses are always very competent and professional I find. It's a much less stress free occasion than the A & E of the hospitals in the centre of Leeds, so I'd always choose it over those. Splendid.

As bad as that is, the conditions in the waiting room were far worse. There was wet vomit on the floor, dried and fresh blood on chairs and tiles, and the staff barely attempted to clean any of it. They completely ignored basic CDC/OSHA infection-control standards--no proper PPE, no hospital-grade disinfectant, no isolation of contaminated areas, and no biohazard procedures for bodily fluids (which are considered potentially infectious materials in every credible medical setting). The staff in the waiting area seemed untrained and unengaged accept to make jokes about the patients..People in obvious distress received no assistance, basic triage didn't exist, and questions were answered with confusion or incorrect information. The lack of professional etiquette, urgency, or even basic competence was shocking. A medical facility should be clean, safe, and staffed by professionals who understand patient care. This place was the opposite. It felt like a butcher shop disguised as a healthcare facility--and the patients are the meat. And honestly, a real butcher shop would have handled blood and sanitation far better. If you value your health or safety, avoid this place. What I witnessed was unsanitary, unsafe, and far below any acceptable medical standards.

Harrogate Hospital is clean and well-run. The ER wait is usually very minimal and the staff are very informative and helpful. The nurses who did my blood work were very friendly and nice. I've never had a bad experience here. My friends who've given birth here have had nothing but good things to say about their experiences, too. Although I hope I won't have to come back here (obviously!) if I ever needed medical treatment, I'd feel secure going to Harrogate Hospital.

One of the largest hospitals in the area, but may feel under-appreciated or underused with the Manchester Royal Infirmary only a short drive away, which is the largest hospital in the country by the number of beds. The hospital was redeveloped in the early 2010s which was much needed, and the refreshed look still feels modern to this day, it is fairly easy to get around the hospital and find where you need to go, the environment is clean, and the staff are friendly, with overly good standards. I did find a huge contrast between certain areas and wings of the hospital, even down to the modern features and comfort of the chairs, but it is the NHS... you can't expect too much. It's surprisingly easy to get through to someone at the hospital's switchboard, and I was passed to my consultant's secretary and appointment line in a matter of minutes, which is how it should be, while other hospitals can be much more inconsistent. Mobile Signal in the hospital is weak, likely down to equipment interfering with the connection. 4*

Tameside Hospital have purposefully altered my records to hide their negligence - repeatedly! All the evidence is available, yet Tameside continue to refuse to meaningfully engage, to enable these to be corrected.

No hospital is perfect we all know that but Tameside in particular gets a beating in the newspapers and on the news. MRSA and C Dif have been topics of concern and also waiting times etc etc. So take it from a girl who works in the accident and emergency part, we all work hard. It is a hard job and i understand that people do not want to be there. We are helpful and we have millions of thank you cards, but I guess that part gets missed out. Anyway it is a lot better than it use to be. Massive improvements are being made right now and are ongoing. New buildings are being made, A new A&E is being built, new everything. Yes, it was in need of a update but the service is just as good as anywhere else! Its clean despite what you may think.
