This is a *public* pool with people of all ages and abilities. The majority of the pool-goers are very respectful and stay out of each other's way. Some run, do calisthenics, stretch, or just float. Who cares? There are a plenty of swimming lanes, some designated for slow-paced swimmers. My one-and-only complaint: The locker rooms. Terribly designed. It is so cramped and uncomfortable. I wish they were more like the open locker-room design of the rec center across the street. Other than that, I am thankful to have this facility.

I ask her if I can try out the Y (which I have done at other Ys and she says "no" and then "it depends on the day of the week" and then "it depends on the time of day/session" - and it was open swim. Finally she agrees to go back and ask if I can try it out. She comes back and says I can do a guest pass for $20. I fill everything out and then she said that she'll only take cash which I don't have so I have to leave without a swim workout and having met a very unpleasant human.

Likewise, the attendants I interacted with were friendly and accommodating, making me feel right at home. As for the facility itself, I couldn't ask for more in a Russian bath: a dry sauna, a wet sauna, multiple dipping pools, a big locker room and secure lockers -- the works, and all at a reasonable price! These lifeguards were NOT short staffed at all, they all have their table in the front of the stairs. They didn't open the kiddie pool at all even though very clearly there were a ton of kids. Worst part is that they're SMOKING. How are you a lifeguard and SMOKING? Especially infront of kids and others. ALSO!!!!! If you come here expect a man to tell you to move to another part of the pool because NOW they give classes. Isn't that ridiculous? Her class gave me strength and stamina to carry the twins to the full term, it definitely helped me with delivery and then speedy recovery. And on top, it was a fun activity to attend on weekly basis (especially in the time of COVID). I went into labor just 12 hours after my last class :)

Also it's a little bit cramped and gets a little bit busy in some regards but overall I like the place and they think it's a good gym - better than a lot of the ones in Queens and Brooklyn as well. Not as lavish and fancy as Manhattan but then you wouldn't expect to be. They've done a good job for Ridgewood and if they just had some great parking then I would probably give them five stars. Fairly new equipment across the board kind of like mine. I parked illegally for 3 hours and nothing happened to my car, but the fact that there was no legal parking (and I looked for a long time) is the only reason I can't give 5. One of the employees had a crush on me, and it was mutual. She gets 5, easy. I guess I'm easy, too.
