They are expensive and sometimes the chicken salad is a little too tangy, but all in all I enjoy my visits to this cute little place! Update- I was able to visit Bird Bakery in person and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing, we came back a second time on our 3 day stay in Dallas! The atmosphere and customer service was excellent. I will make it a definite stop on any future trip to Dallas or San Antonio! I have a slightly different than most reviews as I do not live anywhere near Dallas. I wanted to try this bakery so I contacted the company and had the baked goods shipped to my house. From the start, the customer service was wonderful. When the baked goods arrived at my house they were packaged well and survived the journey. They tasted amazing! They are the only bakery we have found in town that makes delicious gluten free cakes and cupcakes. We ordered a beautiful and delicious cake for my daughter's graduation party. Many guests commented that it was the first gluten free cake they have ever found that was delicious! In addition we added dozens of mixed flavor gluten filled cupcakes and they were loved by all the guests. Fresh, pretty and delicious for gluten free or gluten loving guests. Hands down my favorite place to eat lunch while in Highland Park Village! This place has THE BEST Chicken Salad Sandwich in Dallas, by far! The desserts are also always delicious and I love their iced tea. This place is also just a cute spot to stop with a friend to eat a quick bite! Food comes out and it's delish tomato basil soUp is truly bOmb! sandwich was great too! leaned over for napkins that should've been in the (empty) napkin holder..no biggie.. asked the lady waitress walking by where the napkins werE? She said she'd bring me some. She never did ‍. They weren't on any of the other tables either. She walked by me several times and never came back. Interestingly, when I got up to find some by the cashier- she was right there and said nothing to me - ok. Headed back to my seat. For dessert, had a mini strawberry cupcake - which honestly was dry AF! It's a mini?! Not hard to keep moist! Honestly, unacceptable for the price ($$)- dIdnt keep my Receipt, but judging on our surroundings!? They fell into the same trap of so many Dallas cupcake shops- focused on icing, and neglect cake. Bird Bakery is a Jack of all Trades that specializes in doing everything well and better than most. The coffee is tastier than most coffee shops around. The food (which includes breakfast and lunch options) is at par or better with many of my favorite restaurants. The pastries are unique and delicious with plenty to choose from. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. They typically play "oldies but goldies," such as Frank Sinatra, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder to name a few. The noise level indoors is never too high and seating is comfortable indoors or out. If you've never been, I would highly recommend giving it a try. read more

I have a love hate relationship with this place. The soup and sandwiches (hello tuna melt!) are delish. But the staff always seems disorganized. I recently called in an order for two basic cakes with a specific pick up time for a party near by. When ordering I asked for the cakes to be the right size to serve 32 people and the person on the phone suggested 2 9inch cakes. I drove to the bakery m the day before the event to make sure the cakes would be ready and they confirmed in store that they would be. The day of the event when I went to pick them up and it was taking a while and they said that they could deliver the cakes to the party, so I left. Shortly after they called me to say that the cakes had not been made and offered to send over 2 dozen cupcakes instead free of charge. I appreciate the effort to remedy the situation and I understand mistakes happen, but 8 of my guests were left without dessert, and worst of all - I wasn't surprised that this happened considering the service I have received here in the past and the disorganization I felt when I ordered the cakes and checked in on the in person the day before. I highly recommend this place for a cute and quick lunch with friends, but caution those who want to order desserts for an event. read more

My friend ordered a Nutella sandwich which sounds amazing but its been 30 minutes he still hasn't received his sandwich. I personally love the hibiscus mint tea but it's bland without the lemonade. I've been to Bird Bakery for lunch on multiple occasions and really enjoy the food. Their California Turkey sandwich has the best flavors with the combination of a raspberry chipotle mayonnaise and avocado everything tastes fresh. Where I find it lacking is the service. I think they are understaffed during lunch hour and are unable to provide strong customer service to all of their guests. Tables were piled with trash from former guests for about 10-15 minutes after they departed. We also tried to call ahead to order a cake, and had to call (5) times before someone picked-up. Once we arrived, we could tell they weren't able to handle phones, table-clearing, and ordering. Please add some staff so we can justify heading over for lunch on a weekly basis like we used to. read more

Wow how disappointing! My husband and I visited for the first time today based off of the rave reviews and it's sad to say that most people don't really now what good baking is. The lemon cupcake tasted like a cornbread muffin, the lemon pound cake was dry and sour if that combination is at all possible and the pecan bar was too sweet to eat. These sandwiches are so well made and the ingredients fresh and well paired. We purchased a dozen cupcakes for my birthday. They were rich and all different, chocolate, red velvet, vanilla, lemon, coconut... they were so gooood. Rich but good. The staff has always been helpful I do wish it was a tad larger during the busier times of the day. They are new and still getting a feel for traffic. Really loved the Monster Cookie. It's actually flourless with just oats and peanut butter with M & M's. Cannot recommend enough. It is a little pricy in my opinion ,but a good cookie is worth it! Yelpers. This is a pretty good spot that's in the heart of higland park shops. It's in line with the store front so it's a little hard to see, you can't miss it with the patio tables outside. It's actually a nice quaint spot mainly for the ladies not really a hang out with your dude type of place. I caught a few males ordering take out, which is about right cuz the place is a girlfriend hang out with all the dainty decor. I had the tuna melt and the peach blueberry pie. The tuna was pretty good...its just tuna so nothing to get excited about and it was toasted, I would have liked it a little warmer, but it took a while for our food to be delivered so I'm sure that's why it wasn't as hot. Now the tomatoe soup was creamy and succulent......but it too wasn't hot. So the only reason I didn't give five stars is because the temperature of my food. The staff is super nice. My husband got key lime pie to go and he said it was good. So this is a must try and if you like it then go back......I will!!! read more

What a precious little bakery! They really paid attention to all of the details here, from the calligraphy on the menus to the egg carton takeout containers. Even the bathrooms are cute! (And oddly, they smell really good too!) The sweets display is beautiful and beckons customers to get one of each! I loved the mini cupcake offering-I was able to sample two different Flavors "guilt free"! There are at least a dozen different varieties, plus various brownies, cookies, and other delicacies. There was even a sinful looking 6 or 7 layer rainbow cake that was absolutely gorgeous. The strawberry cupcake was delicious, but not exactly strawberry. I believe it is actually a vanilla cupcake with strawberry icing. There is plenty of icing to go around, so it wasn't a big deal. The carrot cake cupcakes were having a sad day and were very droopy, but this didn't affect the taste whatsoever. They may just be extra moist with the addition of the carrots, since they were falling over and the icing was sliding off. As others have noted, the icing is extremely sweet, but I found zero issue with this. Bring on the sugar! It did take a few minutes for someone to take our order once we had made our decision, and there was nobody else in line. I cringed when the lady helping us grabbed our cupcakes with bare hands, seeing as the rest of the employees donned gloves when doing the same. We would come back to try some more Flavors! read more
