I wanted to love this place so much. It is adorable, independent and from a presentation standpoint is delightful. We went in the mid afternoon and ordered a latte, an iced green tea and 2 mini cupcakes. We were told the desserts were made fresh daily so each of us got a mini cupcake (peppermint and lemon). It took 10 minutes to get the latte and another 15 for the tea to show up. The cupcakes were painfully disappointing. I took a bite of the "lemon" which was actuat just vanilla cake with a supposed lemon flavor icing. It did not taste like lemon at a and both cakes were so dry I actually took one bite and went back to the counter to get a replacements. The staff seemed shocked that I would point out the fact the cake was subpar and didn't want to replace/exchange them for me. As a black women, I had a very disappointing interaction with Bird Bakery. I pre ordered a dozen cupcakes, 48 hours in advance. When I went to pick up my order (at the time that was agreed upon over the phone), I got in line and stated my name and my order. The woman looked at me and asked if I was "door dash" or "grub hub". It was clear her assumption was based on the color of my skin, because when I informed her that it was actually MY order that I placed in advanced, her tone and posture changed immediately. She was embarrassed of her assumption, but made no apology. There is nothing wrong with working in food/service delivery, but these types of interactions highlight the magnitude of racial bias that exists and the need for small and large establishments to acknowledge and address these types of bias so that customers (like me) are engaged equally regardless of skin color. read more

This place was so aesthetically pleasing! First of all, the area that it is in is beautiful. There was so much parking, so that wasn't a struggle at all. It has such a nice theme going on, perfect for instagram/snapchat. The cupcakes were delicious, so moist and perfectly sweet. I've never been a fan of icing but their cupcakes are to die for! Not as sugary as your typical store bought cupcakes. My favorite flavors are fresh strawberries, fresh coconut, and luscious lemon. I can eat 6 minis in one sitting (don't judge me). Definitely coming back to try out their lunch menu. read more

Greeted warmly from the staff, we took our time to look around at the beautiful decor of pastels, pastry displays, and all-things to create a classy party. The large selection of lunch and dessert choices made it difficult to decide on what to eat, but we settled on the creamy asparagus soup and squash corn chowder. To-die-for! You must proceed at your own risk for dessert. The risk being how many to order and try. The quality of the tastes are top notch! We went basic with a baseball themed sugar cookie and chocolate chip cookie - both of which were our best decisions! I was just visiting from CA and am bummed I can't frequent this place. I LOVE this place! Discovered it on one of my Favor Delivery runs and just had to check it out. I've been here a few times, and every time has been a great experience! The sandwiches are so good and unique in flavor, and moderately priced. I love that their ingredients are locally sourced, so definitely worth it. Their cupcakes are AMAZING! Probably one of the only places that can make a gluten free cake moist and delicious. We used the O.G. Bird Bakery in San Antonio for our wedding and were super happy with our cupcakes. When we found out they extended to Dallas, it was perfect. We had them recreate my grandparents wedding cake for their 65th wedding anniversary, and it was adorable. My grandfather has Celiac Disease, and can only eat gluten free so we were super happy and he loved the cake. (Also in the pics i knocked the big flower off the side of the top, whoops. This place is in one of the most prestigious shopping centers in town. Stopped by here around 2pm to order birthday cake but it was more out of curiosity about its celebrity owner than anything else. I order a sample of mini cupcakes to go and a pimento cheese tart for dine in. The tart took a long while although it was already baked and just needed to be heat up. Yet I was most shocked when the staff brought the tart over on a badly chipped aqua color plate that has a larger than a quarter-size broken edge which shows through in a contrasting bright white ceramic. It was almost a disgrace as I wouldn't expect to see broken serving ware like this handed to customers even at Cafeteria kind of setting. That leads me to doubt if other aspects of this bakery are properly managed. Very disappointing. read more

Frosted sugar cookies, best I ever had. Breakfast casserole with hatch chiles...scrumptuous! Nutella bread, OMG. Mini cupcakes, really adorable with lots of flavor choices! Waters, mini cupcakes (served in egg carton holders), matches, mugs, packaging for my catered order...all cute as a button and packaged in such a way that it was so easy for me to carry and transport. I did not order either of their brownie options, but the group ahead of me were raving about the brownies, and they definitely looked delicious. I will definitely have to try one next time. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because I wish my pre-ordered cupcake order (ordered several days in advance) had been filled early enough in the day on pickup day so that I got everything I ordered. But the day I went to pick up my order, they were out of full sized cupcakes, and most of the flavors I had ordered for my dozen of minis were not available either. I asked why my order wasn't filled when they baked the cupcakes, and they just apologized for not reserving back what was needed for my order. Luckily, my guests had no clue what I ordered, so the were unaware that these flavors were not what I ordered. But the bakery was willing to refund me the big cupcake since they were totally out of those in all flavors, or offered several other options (we went with sugar cookies), and they were very apologetic and nice about it. But even with this little hiccup....I would use them again in a heartbeat because those cookies, that breakfast casserole, and the nutella bread were just so amazing, and adorable.
