This was beyond all expectations. I came in as a 100+ Hacker. By the end of the first day Mike Ellis had lead me to GIANT strides toward my goals. Everyday sessions included video comparisons of daily progress, narrated explanations (with illustrated lines) and guidance for drills to correct flaws. While playing, he taught strategy, course management, club selection, green reading, and was a wonderful parter. By day three I was beyond all my goals, my highest hopes, and even many beliefs about what was possible. Mike took all mystery and fear from bunker shots. I was hitting irons out of the sand better than I'd ever hit them off grass! I had pars on 4s and 5s, my first GIRs (four in 9 holes) in ages, and my best 9 hole score of the year...all on a CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE! My fairway woods went from "hopeless" to "trusted friends" in ONE DAY! As a teacher, Mike is what you'd get if you took the knowledge of Hogan, the coaching ability of Lombardi, and the easy fun-to-learn style of Mister Rogers Neighborhood! If you love the game, play around 100, and your head swirls from all the reading and internet advice that isn't helping, Bird Golf Academy is the "Mayo Clinic" for ailing swings. If you can afford it, and love the game, you cannot afford not to do it! Mike saved me a lot of money (fitting and clubs) by assuring me my clubs fit me well and showing me how well I can hit them. Peter, Tyler, and Bob were all wonderfully enthusiastic and made sure I had the best possible experience. Mike Ellis is too good for words. I have an extensive video library of Mike analyzing my shots, overcoming flaws, drills to build on, and progress made so I can review anytime I want. I spent five days at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, AZ, several weeks back for golf lessons arranged through Bird Golf. I truly cannot speak highly enough about my experience, especially with my instructor, Robert Smith. Despite the record-breaking heat in the Phoenix area for the entire session, it never impacted our coaching and playing schedule. Robert was the ultimate professional. While always checking to ensure I was coping with the heat, he never once complained or hinted at the discomfort he must have been feeling. Robert's method of incorporating the mental aspects of the game was perfect for me. As a lifelong duffer, I initially just wanted validation on the areas I felt I was struggling with and a few pointers to help me shave a few strokes. I can now say that I needed so much more from Robert--I just didn't realize it! The instruction was spot on, with drills to reinforce the techniques he demonstrated. Perhaps more importantly, his trained, professional eye caught faults that I had been repeating for decades and literally corrected them in a few days. Now, the responsibility is mine to remember this and practice with intention and purpose. Thank you, Bird Golf, for the experience. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but the accommodations were top-notch, the sign-up and communications were all easy and thorough, and as I mentioned, the instructor, Robert Smith, was amazing. We wanted to take a moment to express just how truly wonderful our experience was with Bird Golf (Hilton Head, SC) - and that starts and ends with RJ Ziats. From the very first swing, RJ demonstrated an exceptional ability to read each of us as individuals. He quickly identified where we needed the most work and tailored his instruction accordingly, making every minute on the range and course feel purposeful and productive. What set him apart, though, wasn't just his technical expertise - it was the way he delivered it. His positivity, patience, and genuine enthusiasm made every bad shot feel like nothing more than a stepping stone. It's hard to get frustrated when your instructor is smiling and encouraging you through every mishit. RJ's demeanor made us feel completely at ease, which is no small feat for two golfers who had plenty of room to improve. By the end of our time together, we weren't just better golfers - we were having more fun than we expected to. We cannot say enough about how much RJ contributed to what turned out to be a truly memorable experience. He is an exceptional instructor and an even better person. My experience was FANTASTIC! It exceeded all expectations. Shirley Furlong was my instructor. She was phenomenal. She explained and re-explained when needed. She had a great balance of serious golf skill instruction and goofing around and just having fun. Shirley had some club changes for me and even let me use her equipment during the school. She was flexible and accommodating to what we wanted to learn but made sure we covered the skills we needed. I learned things I had no idea I needed to learn. Shirley was amazing! The practice facilities were perfect. From the driving range to the bunkers and putting greens - it was all great. The endless supply of water was also greatly appreciated! The staff at the Wigwam was the nicest staff I have ever experienced. Literally every person we came in contact with was wonderful - from in and around the pro shop to the main resort staff. All we had to do was mention we were there for Bird Golf School and they knew exactly what we needed to do and where we needed to be. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful everyone was during our stay. If you're thinking about going - DO IT! You will not be disappointed. read more

I recently completed my Golf Academy at Seaview Resort in Gallaway NJ. I had a three day one on one session with Mike Ellis. There are not enough words for me to describe the positive experience I had with Mike. He made me feel comfortable from the outset and showed great knowledge and patience as he spent three days helping me correct my many swing flaws. Mike was friendly, personable and above all, an expert teacher. He had an uncanny ability to identify some of my swing issues immediately and was able to provide me with easy-to-understand drills and practice techniques that I will incorporate into my golf game. Mike videotaped our training sessions, which he went over after each lesson and provided them to me for review in the future. I have been reviewing these videos and refer to them to remind me of the lessons we had. Additionally, Mike let me know that I was now "part of the family" and I should feel free to reach out to him in the future with any questions or issues. In conclusion, Mike is a wonderful ambassador for the Bird Golf Academy. I would highly recommend Mike to any student at any level. read more

Our three day golf school with bird Academy at Seaview resort in Galloway was perfect in every way. Our Instructor Mike Ellis was kind, thorough, helpful, and I'm sure my handicap will be better as I practice his tips. There is a videotape of all my different swings and his recommendations. As per our request, he kept things simple yet explained rationale for hitting off the right foot or left foot, where to put your weight, and little pointers that I'm sure we'll go a long way. Though the Seaview resort is a bit dated in decor, the bed was super comfortable and I really liked the layout. The Gym though not huge was top-notch. Lunches in the grill were delicious and large and covered by the golf school. The only negative I can say is due to weather conditions, there were some nasty green faced horse flies that bite. Using ample bug spray seem to make a big difference. I would definitely sign up again next year. There's so many locations to choose from, we like the close proximity to our home this time around. Next time I will consider desert Hot Springs. read more

I would like to start by saying that I'm a 70 year old man who has not golfed for the last 15 years I have just recently started to golf again. I have looked at other golf schools and doing research I settled on Bird Golf,Peter Cherry was my main contact and understanding what I was looking for he was able to point me in the right direction. And I chose PGA Oceans 4 for my preferred school, the pro there was Diego he was very professional and easy to work with he most certainly had patience and great experience in the game of golf.he took all the time that was needed to get my swing on the right track same with chipping and putting. My friend and I did the 3-day buddy's golf package and had an incredible time at the Academy in Austin, Texas. Our coach, Bobby Steiner, was just fantastic. A great guy and an amazing teacher; someone who was able to simplify concepts so they would stick. He was so friendly and he clearly has an immense passion for the game. He made it fun to learn and I could tell that he really wanted to see us improve. There was a good mix of videotape analysis and instruction, outdoor full-swing range time and instruction, short game work, and on-course work. And the facilities were first-rate, both the golf practice facility/academy and the accommodations. I recently enrolled in Bird's, Golf Academy, at the hammock Golf and Spa in Daytona, Florida. The accommodations were excellent. My instructor, Scott Ezell, was excellent. Our three day one on one sessions included skill training in the morning and on course training in the afternoon. The improvement from Scott's training and drills was evident immediately, as my scoring dropped during those days of practice rounds. I have done two other golf academies, both in a group setting. Bird's does one on one multi-day sessions. I have already scheduled to return next year to the same place and with the same instructor. The one on one multi-day session was more valuable to me than any of the group sessions that I have done previously. I highly recommend this program if you want to improve your golf skills. I just finished a five day package at Old Corkscrew in Estero, FL with Greg McFee as my instructor. I cannot say enough great things about Greg and about Bird Golf Academy. Greg was patient and reassuring, especially since I had over 20 years of bad habits that needed breaking. Greg simplifies the golf swing and makes it easy to understand. He also gave me great feedback through video analysis, and a terrific post-academy recap through email. This included everything we went over throughout the week, as well as specifically tailored practice drills to help keep me on track in the areas that I need the most work. Bird Golf has something for everyone with multiple locations and flexible times. My initial week was rained out in late 2025. Bird Golf was accommodating for a re-schedule in June, 2026. I must say that Jim DeLaby was the perfect instructor for me. He is experienced, knowledgeable, and doesn't automatically accept the conventional wisdom about certain topics. I enjoyed the depth of knowledge Jim has about the game, also some real life stories and struggles of players similar to myself. I am a veteran golfer and played in college. Jim helped my game immediately and long term. Jim helped me to really enjoy golf again. Jim is very encouraging and positive and he built on exactly what I am capable of doing well. I have done several workshops with Greg Mcfee in Vermont and Florida. He is a terrific instructor and I feel as though I have made progress each time. I have taken a lot of lessons in the past and these sessions have been by far the most helpful. Greg has helped me with all aspects of the game and has given me a much better understanding of my full swing, the short game, and the mental game. I took up golf relatively late in life, mainly so I wouldn't go into withdrawal at the end of ski season, and now, by spring, all I do is talk about golf on the chairlift. Thanks to Greg and his patience and incredibly extensive knowledge, I am hopeful I might finally be able to get past being a bogey level golfer. Did not think this was ever going to be possible! My partner and I spent 3 days with Shirley in July 2024. I have taken many lessons from many instructors over the past 20 years but no one ever told me certain things that helped me elevate my game like Shirley Furlong. My partner has recorded lower scores the last 8 rounds and so have I. She assesses not only your game but personality to give you tips that will improve your game, swing thoughts and swing. She will work with what you are able to do and welcomes your feedback. Not all golf instructors are good teachers but we got lucky. Ask for Shirley, you won't be disappointed. My experience with Bird Golf was fantastic! My Instructor Craig Smith was the perfect coach for me. He was patient, kind, extremely helpful and really knew his stuff! He made everything easy and simple for me to understand and my swing/shots began to improve on the first day. He also taught me how to read my shot pattern and what adjustments should be made to improve. I also learned short game and putting techniques that are simple and really work. Took a 3 day course in Killington, VT with Greg Mcfee and was blown away by the professionalism and patience he had. The course was set up and run smoothly and we had no issues on any of the days. Greg taught us an incredible amount and stayed totally patient with my father and I despite how frustrating I'm sure it was to watch us struggle. The difference we saw in our game from each day to the next was astounding, can't wait to translate what we've learned to the course and develop our games.
