This review is specifically for the bar at the founders, we stopped in for the Happy Hour 3-5pm. We assumed it would be similar to the one at the Vic, but it was a joke. It states domestic draft beers are on happy hour $4, and import draft beer is $5 They have one domestic draft Michelob Ultra, where as the Vic all draft beers are on Happy Hour, a better choice. The staff was great and the waitress apologized for the somewhat disappointing "Happy" Hour. read more

First off, Verrado Golf Club slaps. Played a few Tom Lehman courses up in Minnesota in the past. Pristine fairways tighter than my buddy's Dewey's grip on his first divorce, Greens so pure I thought they were gonna whisper "yes daddy" before I tapped it in. Shot an 85 from the silver tees (6,800 yards), which for me is like winning the damn FedEx Cup. Then came lunch. I ordered a Reuben. It was just okay. It was emotionally unavailable and confused, like a sandwich raised by Democrats. This is another jab at Dewey. Luckily, the Modelo was flowing and morale was high. Enter the waiter: Thomaś was flamboyant, fabulous and a bit feral. This dude hit me and my buddy Matt with a back shot of ranch that was violent. We had been absolutely creamed on. He cleaned us up. It was gentle, almost too gentle. He took a few liberties on our buddy Scott who had nothing to do with the back shot. Scott's considering though...... Now onto the back 18 (Victory). I was feeling relaxed. Loose. Freshly glazed. I strutted to the tee like George W. Bush post-9/11 and told the boys, "now watch this drive". Then I nuked a slice so far right , it could've legally been declared a war crime. I never recovered. Then there was Brett. This fucking guy. Continued to try to take everyone's ball but his own. Specifically, he continued to steal Zach's who marks his ball like a prison inmate marking his shampoo. Brett was also the only guy I've ever seen not only steal a ball, but hit it 20 yards behind him. This motherfucker literally defied physics. NASA is still trying to figure it out. Nonetheless, he sucks. Brett continued to take more pictures than a sorority girl. We will all appreciate it in the end, but he is definitely going to ruin Dewey's second marriage. Brett definitely has a picture or video of him putting in a huge lipper. And just when I thought we'd reached peak chaos. Matt has a code brown emergency. No time for a clubhouse. This mother fucker sprinted into the cactus brush like a feral animal with a brand new Ghost golf towel in hand. That $30 towel died a hero. Final verdict? I shot a 90, caught a solid back shot from Thomaś. Witnessed Brett commit non-stop ball theft and experienced a towel funeral in the Arizona wilderness. 10/10. Will absolutely return with extra wipes and less trust in Brett. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I've now played both Victory and Founders course and neither are worth what you have to pay here for what you get in return. If you're not playing in a group then they will automatically pair you up with their pass holders who typically are older retired couples mainly playing senior tees which can ruin one's game if your trying to play a round. They won't let you ride alone at all which can make it uncomfortable for some folks if you don't like play with people who listen to music or want to drink or just be their natural selves. Course conditions was atrocious. All areas outside of fairways were dead dead like not sure if it will actually come back without massive over seeding. Bunkers were clay like with pebbles in them and appear to leave marks and dings on the clubs if you attempted to hit out of them and greens were like playing the Plinko game on price is right. Range session was very limited areas and balls were what you expect when watching the Movie Tin Cup. Pass players were very pissed to find out I paid $37 less than they did on Golf Moose App for the round and I also got a free replay on the same day if I wanted which would average each round at $68 but definitely wasn't going to attempt another hole after 18. Definitely don't pay attention to their signs on outside alcohol and if you do come, I encourage to bring your own alcohol and food as they charge an arm, leg and kidney for a Luke warm beer only to be filled in a water logged cooler with limited ice. Would I come here again.....absolutely never again. Only thing this mis managed place has going for them is their local pass holders but from what I was hearing, they too are fed up with it here as well. I would be to if I was paying more than non locals coming in and getting the conditions in which you do. read more

Decided to come golf with a few buddies on Sunday with a green fee of $179 for 10am. The young kid in the pro shop was arrogant, unwelcoming, and dryly sarcastic. It was my first time at the course so I had a few questions, all of which were answered in a way that made it seem I was asking dumb questions. I had told him it was my first time at the club so it should have given him the hint I might need to know some directions. I asked him where the practice range was and if there were range balls down there or if they had to be purchased (like several other courses in the valley). The starter was brash and unwelcoming. He handed us all a form to sign without explaining what it was. I had asked him what I was signing and he said, "you new here?" Come to find out it was a waiver to drive the golf cart. After which we were given a lecture on pace - which seemed unnecessary due to it not being enforced. The people ahead of us were averaging 15-20 min a hole. At the turn I popped into the pro shop to pick up a sleeve of balls and I asked if they by chance had any Vice balls, wanting to try them out. I received a depreciating smirk and was told "we don't carry balls like that here." Well - ok then. The course was in decent shape for this time in the winter, but a few is the greens had weed spray all over them and were very patchy. Also, careful of deer droppings, they were everywhere. The back nine on the Founders Course was closed for a month for bunker renovations, so you would expect when the holes were reopened, that they would be in excellent shape. Played on Labor Day weekend, one day after the back nine reopened, and the greens were aerated, with little or no sand (didn't see any sand). The greens were absolutely horrible. Management should be fired. They should be embarrassed to produce such a poor product. read more

The current ownership (Century Golf) needs to sell the property or begin to spend money to keep It upgraded. Both courses are severely worse now than they were under the former ownership and not worth the price they are charging. Locals I know are not playing the courses anymore and they survive on "snowbirds" coming in that are willing to overpay and get underserved. read more

Once again we did not think the time management on this course could get worse but today it did...a 5+ hour round...ridiculous! Golfers stacked 2 to 3 groups on each tee box. Never saw one marshal! Starters and pro shop with just a bunch of flimsy excuses. We live in Verrado but will never play Founders again. Seriously you guys need to regroup and figure out what the heck is wrong with your pace of play and fix it. In addition to playing wherever we travel (for 40+ years) we play numerous other courses in the immediate area and in Phoenix and never have we encountered such horrible wait times as we have on Founders, on the tee box and in the fairway. Sorry Founders you've lost our business FOREVER! read more

During the summer months, June, the Price to play this beautiful course is amazing. However, they make you get off the course at 7 PM. It doesn't go dark till around 8:30 PM. I know staffing is an issue, but so is the heat. And it's a little cooler in the afternoon. They should at least extend this till 8 PM. read more

Golfed here a couple of months ago, had a good time and did very well. Driving range is large enough to accommodate a lot of people. putting and chipping greens were well kept up. My issue was, there were no refreshment cart, the pro shop was out of drinks. So we had to pay a lot extra for a cup of soda, or water from the restaurant. So, yeh service wasn't the best. But did I say I played good that day? I thought the course was in decent shape, it was wet. Greens were good, and overall the course played good. Groups were spaced out pretty good, and it didn't take that long to complete the round. Want to come back again, I like their sister course more. But did I say I had a great day playing? read more

Very slow play, on a regular basis, older ones play slow, normally will not let you play through. I am 71 yrs old myself. And rangers rarely will ever say anything to slow groups. Somewhat disappointing. They will put a new pin location 4 inch's from an old one. Poor course management. I know I am not the first one to complain about greens and course conditions. We went to a few really nice and expensive courses in Scottsdale but this was right up there with the others and was a fraction of the cost at the time. Very good course. Despite the bunker reconstruction process going on currently at the Founders course on the front nine, the back nine was in good shape. The greens were in good shape and the fairways were also in good condition. The staff here are excellent and make you feel welcome! Beautiful course. Love playing in the scorching sun. Golf Pro did open my trunk for me when I pulled up to tee off, my car wasn't even turned off, nor had I gotten out yet. I wasn't situated or expecting that, thought he would have proper manners representing such a prestigious club. In dire need of more restrooms along the course. Absolutely one of the most beautiful courses I have played at. The club house has an amazing view from above the 18th hole with an outdoor bar and seating area. The golf course it self is well maintained and every hole has spectacular views. The course runs through a quartz rich land which offers beautiful canyons with huge veins or white quartz. The course is challenging for the average golfer with lots of valleys and narrow long holes. I played in December and the weather was perfect. With a great staff, clean facilities and Covid protocols in place I will be back to play here as often as I can but I will need to save a few pennies as it is $85 per round. read more

Marshall finally talked to the group in front of us mid back 9 but it was too late. A lot of other very poor customer service issues, mainly involving the Marshall. We had our wedding here and the staff, coordinator and management were absolutely wonderful. It is so very stressful nowadays with covid but; they made our wedding feel stress free and as normal as they possibly could. During the reception they continuously checked on our friends and family, making sure they were happy with their meals. I have no other words other than than thank you. The best April Fools Day wedding venue. My first time in Verrado. I drove by on the freeway many times and saw the sign but never thought I would have a chance to visit. This was a great opportunity to check out the community. As I drove inside, I felt I was no longer in Phoenix. It got that small town charm. The golf club is located all way the back toward the mountains. It was gorgeous outdoor ceremony. The views to golf course were incredible. So glad it was a little windy that day since the sun was beaming down. As we were taking photos around the area, one of the wedding towers fell. We told the staff to secure it. They placed two huge boulders which you can clearly see them. Really? That would be lovely having giant rocks in your wedding photos. I don't know if they were inexperience in weddings, or just lack of common sense. Cocktail hour was in the patio area right outside of the reception room. We didn't have walk far. And still enjoy the gorgeous views. The reception room was elegant and perfect for an intimate setting. Dance floor was just good size for us. The food, the ambiance, and staff were fantastic. Went to this course because it looked amazing, and it didn't disappoint! The views we great and the course was incredible, however our round got cut at 16 because of the Marshall. Our group was first told to pick up pace or leave the course, but we after explaining we were on pace the Marshall left. He then returned apologizing that it was a different group that was slow! At this point we had to decided to already leave because of the slow pace and disrespect. I hope they fix this issue so other golfers will want to play here. read more

HELLLLLLLLO GOLFERS! What a sexy course this is. This ranks up there with some of the best courses I've ever played, and THE BEST desert course I have ever played! Yes it's desert links style golf, but you're in the desert so what do you expect? It's kind of a trek, but it'll be worth it. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you'll enjoy the service and scenery. A real private club feel. As mentioned earlier this is DESERT LINKS GOLF! No adjoining fairways, and all the crap plays as PGA desert (lateral). The fairways are pretty wide for the most part, so you can spray the ball a bit, but there is definitely some carry involved on some of the tee boxes. Hole 18 is a very hard core par 4. Long carry on the approach to the green with a TON of water along the right side of the fairway and green. This is the kind of hole that can ruin a good day on the course real quick. Don't be afraid to lay up. :) Oh, and there are mens ratings for ALL the tee boxes, I'd recommend higher handicappers play from the forward tees, because this course could be really hard if you're a mediocre golfer... Maintenance was perfect, even in September after baking in the Arizona heat all summer. The fairways were well manicured, and not too hard. Nice rough, but not too tall. A slightly errant shot will be caught, but you won't have to worry about searching for your ball for 5 minutes either. The greens were also perfect. Nice and fast, and TRUE! Ok, I'm done gushing about this course... Give it a shot, you won't regret it. read more

Staff are helpful & efficient, course is challenging but fair with beautiful views of the valley, mountains & desert... what else can you want?! It's become one of our favorites and definitely worth the drive! The Vic restaurant just up the hill from the golf course has a terrific menu with great presentation, welcoming staff, and great atmosphere and extensive patio seating. read more
