I pass this course quite often, played there years ago and was disappointed that I couldn't golf. I forget about this course actually. Anyway, as my group finished golf and arrived for lunch most said the grounds were as hard as a rock, not in good shape and I should be glad not to have golfed that day. Hmm. They all said no more golf outings there. In all fairness, it is the first week of Spring and maybe it just needs more time since the season is just starting. Nonetheless...they were very disappointed. On a good note, the 20 of us sat on the outside covered patio and had a really good lunch. I wasn't expecting much based on the bad reviews of the course therefore I was quite surprised just how good the food was at their restaurant. My burger and fries were delicious. Cooked exactly as requested. The chicken cheesesteak was a huge sandwich and filled with a generous amount of chicken. Two could easily share that. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. Only one mishap...they ran out of fries! Substituted onion rings. Normally, that would be a good thing however, the onion rings looked awful. Skinny and overdone, more fried breading then onion...not the good kind of onion rings. Glad I was last to get the fries otherwise my review would be less stars. The quesadilla, salads and other meals also looked very good and generous portions. Our service was friendly and timly. I can see going back for lunch at some point to dine outside on a nice day. Not sure about the golf? I was fluctuating between 3 and 4 stars bc 3.5 would be my pick however, I just can't do 4 stars...hopefully next time. And I will try the restaurant again...probably one of the better restaurants in that area.

From the first email interaction with the wedding staff we were treated with respect, enthusiasm and excitement at the chance of having our wedding there. NVCC was the first venue we looked at and let me say--they set the bar extremely high. We met with Matt who was eager to tell us everything NVCC had to offer and seemed genuinely excited to work with us. He was professional and very much prepared for our meeting. I usually have lots of questions when deciding something this important, but after everything Matt went over I felt well-informed and had very few extra questions. We did go look at a few more venues that same weekend but after those visits it was an easy decision and we booked our wedding with them in their Crystal Ballroom. Matt stayed as our wedding coordinator throughout the almost 2-year planning process and always got back to my emails in a timely manner. In our meetings leading up to the big day, Matt made sure he knew exactly what we wanted so there were no surprises on the day of the wedding and made us feel comfortable that everything was going to be taken care of. The day before the wedding my husband and I dropped off our decorations and instructions with Alexis (another wedding coordinator). She was fantastic as well! She not only helped us unload from my car but also went through everything with us to make sure they knew what I was talking about on my list. I can honestly say that when I left everything there I was not worried in the slightest--I knew they would do a great job and that piece of mind is priceless to a bride the day before the wedding. The day of the wedding we were greeted off the party bus by Matt who seemed very excited for us. Then when it was time for my photographers and videographers (neither had been to this venue before) to take my husband and myself on the grounds for pictures, Alexis pulled a stealthy ninja move and hoped on a golf cart to come with us without any of us knowing! She helped so much by telling my photographers some nice spots on the grounds to take pictures. Alexis even reminded me to look at my cake before the reception started-- I would not have gotten to see it until the cake cutting otherwise! They laid out all of the details I wanted perfectly--it was my vision brought to life. The entire staff was friendly and helpful--my husbands and my entrées (and my mom's!) were even covered up so they wouldn't get cold while we were visiting guests. I need to shout out the bartenders--Walt was hooking me up all night and always asked how the drinks were and if I liked how he made it and Natalie even gave her own personal energy drink to a groomsmen that was a little sleepy and wanted Redbull/vodka! Last but not least JJ was our maître d and she was phenomenal. She made sure everything was running smoothly and was to our liking and got all of our decorations packaged up so we did not have to worry about anything after the reception. Our wedding was perfect and it was largely because of NVCC-- we would not have changed a thing. Even now--a month after the wedding, guests still tell me how amazing the food and service was. Thank you NVCC for a night we and our guests will never forget.

Super easy to make a tee-time. Go to the website and chose the date/time/number of players and after creating an account, you're done. Sort of surprising that they don't make you put a card in to hold the time like several other courses do on their reservation portals, but because of what comes next, I understand why. buttervalley.teesnap.net/ A few observations: Make sure you read the fine print that the rates listed are cash only rates. If you're paying with a card, you will eat their processing charges. The course for being in January was in about as good of shape as you could expect. Good amount of mud along the pathways between holes, most of the greens were like concrete, most of the cups were filled with ice, etc. Supposedly, we had the second tee time of the day, yet magically, there were already four groups of four out playing. Hmmmm? The first few holes were log jammed but eventually the spacing thankfully improved on it's own and things got better. Here are my two pet peeves. None of the markers were out. Orange tee is where? White tee is where? The yellows were there but anything else required a bit of guess work. Here's the biggie. The yardage for the holes. The score card says X. The stone marker at the hole says Y. A few of the holes (a few par 3's from what I remember) have a marker in the ground at the tee which says Z. Why is it this confusing to just list what the yardage actually is versus having a 20-40 yard swing? Conceptually, Butter Valley is basically the cousin to Sawmill in Easton. Is this course really 4 stars? Probably not, but, I'll give it to them because they stay open year round which is a plus and you cannot beat their winter pricing to walk 18. We'll be back.

Needless to say very unhelpful staff and definitely changes my mind on going back anytime soon, next time if this happens we'll just play through the dark and see how they like it.
