Great environment and great cuts! A bit on the pricier end but that goes for most of Austin.

Birds is a local Austin chain barbershop. I had a 930 appointment and they seated me right on time. I was very happy with my haircut they cut my hair exactly how I wanted and it came out looking great! The prices are also pretty affordable as well. It is also nice to know they take credit. I feel a lot of barbershops are just a cash based operation. I was able to get in and out at a quick and efficient time and everybody treated me great in the process. read more

I'm afraid it's time for me to say bye bye to Birds. I've been pretty regular throughout the last ten years or so, and during that time I could be assured of a good haircut, with some quality time spent on it, no matter which location I visited. Unfortunately, my last two experiences, first at Red River and then the Domain, wound up more like Super Cuts experiences (so, not super cuts). It may be that I assume too much when I ask for advice from a stylist. I noted, at the Domain, that I wasn't happy with my last haircut, and that I would like some ideas on length and style, knowing my limitations. Most of the advice was "where does it part" and "how short do you want it on top," but of course, those were the things I wanted suggestions about. The previous haircut had left me bemused, befuddled, and bewildered about those options anyhow. Bit of a paradox. In any event, this haircut, like the previous Red River experience, took about 10 minutes. I think the walk from the parking lot to the shop was actually longer, with more conversation (someone randomly asked how I was doing--unusal, but kind of nice at the same time). I think it's time to find a more stable relationship with a barber/stylist, and cool it with the salt on the tail; "this little bird, she can fly away." read more

As far as a quality haircut is concerned, I have never once been disappointed in the work that Shauna does. I got my haircut with Teresa. I will say I was super hesitant because I've had pretty horrible experiences paying $65 a cut. But today I was like "well if my hair is going to be botched either way, why don't I just pay less". To my surprise, Teresa did EXACTLY what I asked her to do and my hair came out EXACTLY how I wanted it. This NEVER happens (well maybe back before my hairstylist moved away ). There's not a lot of glamour to Birds and it's exactly what they advertise: a good haircut for a fair price. I also really do like that Teresa wasn't trying to make small talk with me. When all of the other Bird's locations are fully booked on weekdays, this place normally has some spots available. I heard weekends are busy so I would avoid those times. This is one of the smaller Bird's locations and is located in the Red Rock district (where all the bars are) of the Domain; on weekday afternoons it is pretty quiet. I normally park at one of the nearby parking garages and if you get in early you can walk around and people watch. I haven't had any issues checking in, the staff is very nice. I guess since it is the Domain people are expecting attitude but I haven't seen this from any of the hairstylists at all. Prices are pretty standard for a haircut. read more

So I've taken my 4 year old here a couple of times now but today was different. Apparently since my son is 4 and not 5 his hair cut was full price. So instead of a kids cut for 25 I paid 35 because hes 2 months under the age limit for a "child's cut" I thought his hair cut was awesome and always think so, however this will be the last time we come here. I love this birds location. Super close to all the coffee shops in the domain and the staff are super friendly. Samantha has been my stylist for a solid minute because she cuts my hair just the way I like and is an all around awesome person to chat with while in the chair. I ignored the reviews and checked the place out myself and let me tell you its gonna last more that 2 years. I'll even update this review in 2 years just to show you that place means so much more. Turns out Nicky g aka *the sad soul review below* Is purely an account created just to hate with no other reviews for other businesses, shows hate of the staff on a personal note and nothing to do with the business. So save that for the diary or for the tea party of stuffed animals around the table to vent to. Appointment was set and I was nervous but they were super chill and gave me a beer and we talked about all the style I could work with. The outcome??? Happier than Nicky that's for sure. These girls know what they are doing and have a passionate soul for meeting your expectations and that is beyond most business today alone. Who cares if its all woman and yatta yatta. This is for Lexi G at The Domain location: I made an appointment at the very last moment before my Christmas vacation. It was the first time I have had my hair done professionally since the beginning of COVID. So my hair was a huge mess. I have lots of hair. Thick and curly. Lexi G is who I was pleasantly matched with. She said it was "A Christmas Miracle" that I was able to get her. Just the night before she opened up the time slot! She wasn't even planning on working and I would never had known by the way she was with me. She did not cut corners and I never felt like I was a pain in the rear! To color my hair, wash, and cut took about five hours! Lexi G gave the best head wash I have ever had! She was so pleasant! I felt like a princess after getting my hair done by Lexi G! I am very particular when it comes to my haircut, I moved from Houston To Austin about 2 years ago and I have to say, birds is the place to go! I came in today with some very long hair (it had been about 4 months since my last haircut and it was pretty rough lol) but I was greeted and offered a beer/cider upon my arrival, my appointment was at 4:30 and I was seated right at 4:30! I was lucky enough to get Alejandro as my harder and let me tell you, he is not only an amazing barber, but he knows how to have a good conversation! 10/10 would recommend, can't wait to come back and get the same great service I received today!!!
