I came last night for their Birmingham Restaurant Week deal, which was $14 for a full meal: appetizer, entree, and dessert! The appetizers for the full dinner meals come out like sizzling fajitas, my favorite of the meats we had was the lamb. My mom's entree came with a smiley face :). The place itself is pretty casual, with Indian decor and always a little incense burning by the door. They have a full bar, beer, and wine, but my mom swears that diet coke was made to be paired with Indian food. Taj India is a must try in Birmingham, and the buffet is the perfect place to explore Indian food!

Our waitress was friendly and efficient, and the dishes, starting with appetizers, came out fairly quickly, well cooked and ample portions. One of us got a beryani dish, it was so big and intimidating that I didn't tackle it but the presentation was fun. A whole poached egg was delivered with it, I kind of think it could have been quartered and perhaps spiced up a bit - imagine deviled egg curry style! (Hint hint Hyderabad). Their Uber Eats page is well-formatted, with all menu items listed, accompanied by descriptions and pictures of most items. My only issue with their menu on the app is that the descriptions were not very clear about whether an item came with rice or if it had to be ordered on the side. My order arrived quickly and came in a large brown paper bag. I chose the butter chicken, and it came with basmati rice. They were packaged separately, with the chicken and sauce in a large plastic container and the white rice in a small styrofoam box. I like that they separated the two to let the customer have control over the chicken-to-rice ratio. Plastic cutlery was provided as well. My food was still hot when it arrived and was full of flavor. It tasted like a very good homemade meal instead of something made with low-quality ingredients and little effort put into it. The sauce on the chicken was very creamy and absolutely delicious! The serving size left me plenty of leftovers, and I was very satisfied.

My drink order was taken (water) and my server, who answered all of my questions, was very patient and pleasant. For my appetizer, I ordered the spring rolls. They were freshly made and came out hot and crispy. I enjoyed them and would order them again. Now the main course. I opted for the spicy Himalayan chicken, medium heat. I love spicy food, and I thought I was doing the right thing by ordering the medium level. However, it was very spicy! I did notice however, that the longer it sat, the level evened out some. On my next visit, I will stick with the Himalayan chicken and order it in mild just to test out my theory.
