Oyster Scramble
Danielle B.

We are here in a Saturday morning around 10 am. The restaurant was full but we didn't have to wait for a table. We ate upstairs. It is a cute place, clean, and lots of windows and natural light. We ordered the big meat skillet, the veggie skillet and the oyster scramble. The portions were great. The food was fresh. It was a solid meal but nothing we would rush back for.

Jack Benny

Overall, I love breakfast, and while the portions are very generous, they were a bit heavy for me. My favorite dish was the biscuit crumble. It had so many layers, and the tomato added the perfect balance, preventing it from being too salty or overpowered by the bacon. I've actually developed a newfound love for tomato gravy. In comparison, the Jack Benny was too salty for my taste. I really enjoyed the fried hash cake, but with the ham, the saltiness was all I could taste. I loved the décor, and this experience definitely doesn't deter me from coming back to try more dishes.

We had been talking about coming here for a while now, it's just normally out of the way on the weekends plus hangry kiddos wanting food quickly means we haven't had a chance yet. We walked in for a brunch / early lunch on the weekend. We didn't have to wait long. Our kids both wanted pancakes and bacon. After some debate, I settled on the chicken and waffles. It was very good, but my gosh that was a lot of food - I ate on it another meal easily. My wife got one of the breakfast scrambles and enjoyed it. I hope they open one in Trussville - I think they'd do well there!

Was referred to this spot by a local as we were in the area visiting. Great little spot, cute vibe and friendly staff. We ordered the French toast it was good, lots of fresh fruit top. Then we got the skillet, biscuit and grits. Loved all the house made jellies.

Big Bad Skillet

First thing, first....can we say BANG for your buck! The portions are worth the price. The food was delicious. Service was on point. They were very busy; however, the service did not suffer. The hostesses, server, and manager (?-nice gentleman who seemed like he was the boss) were all friendly and welcoming. I had the Big Bad Skillet and was pleasantly surprised at how meat heavy it was. And the biscuits were "chef's kiss" fluffy and big. Definitely a place to return to.

It had been a really long time since I had BBB. This was a good choice for brunch , after leaving church. The hostess was really nice and prompt in adding me to the waitlist . I ended up sitting at the bar. The service was fast & friendly. I ordered a mimosa to drink. It was tasty and refreshing . I ordered steak and eggs with hash brown cake as my side. I was satisfied with my food overall. The steak is a 6 oz ribeye , so medium rare temp was perfect! My fav was the hash brown cake!! So good!!!! This was my first time at this location. There's street parking only, so this might be hit or miss depending on when you visit.

Flapjacks Mild Bacon

Sat at the bar since there was a long wait. I got choc chip pancakes with a side of bacon. Vietnamese coffee is also fire. My bf got the veggie omelet and it was perfect. Had goat cheese, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms. Friendly staff and got our food fairly quick even with the crowd.

I love visiting here. It is my mom and I's breakfast spot to go when we want to have brunch or breakfast together. My last visit, I got steak and egg. The steak was perfectly cooked to my instruction. I always worry about overdone steak. But this as done right. My mom enjoyed her egg white omelette and the biscuits were also fluffy and wasn't dry. We were able to find a park right out front. So I was happy about that, as parking can be quite the task in this place. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and will be back again.

Friendly Sunday service!!Our server, Madelyn, was helpful and attentive. She helped me make a choice of entrees . The biscuits and pancakes are huge! I oreder tge huevos rancheros grits bowl and it was pretty tasty. The portion size was very filling. I couldnt eat it all. My boo had the Breakfast Plate and left no crumbs. It is a very casual dining spot so no need to worry about getting dolled up or wearing your Sunday best. I look forward to vising again next time I am in Birmingham .

Breakfast Southern style. This is how you do it in the South!

Just leaving Big Bad Breakfast and OMGosh I couldn't recommend them any more. Delicious food and awesome staff. Shout out to our server Courtney and to Elliot who also stopped by several times to ensure we were enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed. If you're in the Birmingham area do yourself a favor and go to BBB.

Definitely a GOTTA GO TO spot when visiting B'ham!! Came in around 12:30; told 10-15 min wait. It was less than that. Great food and great service. Diner style. One mention, pepper is used in everything, including the biscuits. If you're not a fan of the spice, you might wanna try something else.

Just asking about being wheelchair accessible. Are there steps to get into the restaurant? Would you have a table high enough for the wheelchair to roll under? We have 2 men in wheelchairs in a group of 8, would you have a space for us?

We are certainly wheelchair accessible. There is a ramp to the front door access. We do have two tables in our downstairs dining room that can accommodate 8 guests with two of those being wheel chairs.

Do they have gluten free bread they can substitute for whole wheat on the avocado toast?

Hey Anna! We do have gluten free bread that can be used as a substitution for any of our bread options. We hope to see you soon!

How do you use Yelp to get on their waiting list? I don't see that as an option at least on mobile. One reviewer mentioned it and said she was seated within 5 minutes.…

You will need the Nowait app to get on the waitlist. Once you have that app, it will connect to Yelp for you! It is super convenient and cuts down the time spent waiting at the restaurant for sure!

This creative breakfast entree features their biscuit- split with fried chicken, poached egg and topped with their chicken sausage gravy. Definitely a big breakfast and shareable! Loved the tender biscuit, the crunch of the fried chicken and the savory flavorful chicken sausage gravy! The side of seasoned Moon Dust potatoes were great, too. I look forward to returning and trying their French Toast, Pancakes or a plain, yummy biscuit!

Hubby wasn't a fan of the asiago/bacon waffles, which come with the Chix and Waffles; I tried them and it is an acquired after taste. Neither of us were big fans of the smashed potatoes, although the sauce was refreshing. We wondered why they are "smashed," but round? Overall, food was satisfactory! Service was quick and helpful, and it wasn't as busy after 9. It is more of a community based set up. We appreciated the inclusive environment and staff, but we did have to move after being next to the dirty dish station and having multiple angry outbursts from the young lady working/cleaning and overly loud placement of dishes. I do prefer my grits a little thicker a little cheesier . They have more of a contemporary style of grits which it was OK, but I'm just kinda finicky when it comes to some old-fashioned grits. I tried the maple coffee which was pretty good. Had more than my fair share. There is also, seating inside and outside. Come and check this place out.

This place is my type of vibe!…read more Trattoria ZaZa has been on my list of places to stop at for several years. Parking often deters me but after attending the Italian Festival earlier that day, we had a craving for pizza. I ordered the combo that includes 2 slices of the day with salad. Since I wasn't overly hungry, I offered him one of my slices and he added another slice to the order. We paid and were given a number to place on our selected table. Jazzy music played in the background while we waited on our order to be brought to the table. The natural lighting, while beautiful, made it a little warm in the building. One of the waitresses propped the door open that leads to the restrooms (which are in the hallway near the elevators) in order for cooler air to make its way in. That wasn't a deal breaker, but do be aware of that on warmer days. Our food came out after a short wait. I kept my 3 cheese slice, and gave him the pepperoni one. The cheeses were very rich and the salad, while simple without the frills, was perfectly sized and drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette that was just the right amount. While I enjoyed my meal very much and the ambiance, he wasn't overly impressed with his. He didn't want the fresh herbs on his slices and knocked all of them off, lol. He's a simple guy with simple taste. This is definitely a place I will be revisiting with one of my girlfriends and not him next time as he didn't appreciate what ZaZA had to offer. Everyone we encountered was helpful and courteous. Our food, including drinks, was around $28, which was not bad for a cute, eclectic spot downtown. If you haven't been, make sure to try them out soon. Just don't wait as long as I did to visit!

A true hidden gem right off Highway 280…read more Let me just say--this place is absolutely beautiful. From the ambiance to the staff, everything felt elevated from the moment we walked in. We made reservations for Bae's birthday dinner, and they welcomed us with a handwritten card signed by the entire staff... such a thoughtful touch that really set the tone for the night. Now let's get into the food To start, I had the Charred Grapefruit Martini--perfection. Smooth, refreshing, and just the right balance. We ordered the Butter Crab Sushi and Lobster Bisque to kick things off, and both were incredible. For our entrées, we went with the Steak Frites (with a little switch-up on the sides), and baby... nothing missed. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. This is one of those places where you can confidently order anything on the menu. 10/10 experience--don't forget to tip generously, the staff truly deserves it!
