We dined in for dinner and ordered from the specialty Hoover Restaurant Week menu. Most participating restaurants have a curated menu for the week so you can try dishes they want highlighted. We started with the onion methi spinach pakora as an app. This was kind of like a hush puppy with fried onions mixed in. The brown sauce was amazingly sweet but spicy - definitely our favorite of the two. We chose chicken tikka masala, chicken tandoori, and vegetable korma as our entrees. This came with a serving of basmati rice. We thought this was a great combo of things - chicken in a sauce - chicken fire grilled and on the bone - and veggies in a sauce. We'd recommend all 3 of these and would get the exact same thing again! We are huge fans of garlic naan, so of course we both had to get an order of that. The "Dinner for Two" for $54.99 included all of this and a bottle of wine! It says that this is their special Tuesday-Thursday. Service was extremely friendly and parking was no issue. I had a great experience with takeout from Silver Coin. We ordered multiple curries and rices and shared tapas style. I picked up the meal and they were friendly and offered me a water while I waited and asked me some detailed questions about rices and such to make sure I got what was expected. Also let me know that I could get some good deals on the website instead of the delivery app I ordered through. The food was delicious. The curries are spicy and the meats tender. The rices absorb and mix with the dishes wonderfully. Everything was so good. I enjoy eating Indian food. However, for some reason, I had never heard of this particular restaurant. Earlier this week. I was able to have lunch at this restaurant with my Leadership Hoover class and I definitely enjoyed everything that they prepared for us. I had the opportunity to try some new things. I was most excited about the dessert that was offered because I had never tried an Indian dessert. This restaurant has meeting spaces that would be great for anyone that wants to have a larger lunch or dinner type party or if they need meeting space for whatever reason. Tried the shrimp scampi pasta and it was better than I expected. The sauce was buttery and had a nice citrusy twist. Shrimp were cooked well and tasted fresh. The noodles soaked up the flavor without being soggy. Portion size was generous and I even had leftovers. Service was quick and the staff was welcoming. I've been wanting to try Silver Coin for a while and finally went this week, and honestly I'm mad I didn't go sooner. The food was so good. I ordered butter chicken with garlic naan, and everything came out hot and super fresh. The sauce was rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and the naan was soft with just the right amount of crisp on the edges. The portions are also really generous, I had enough for leftovers, which I never complain about. I also tried a bite of my friend's chicken tikka masala, and that was just as good, maybe even a little spicier. The staff were really nice and checked on us without being overbearing, and the whole place felt clean and relaxed. It's not super fancy, but it's comfortable and perfect for a casual dinner. I had heard that Silver Coin is many times very busy for dinner. Decided to go for lunch and it was surprisingly not at all busy; it may have been considered early for their lunch crowd, as a few more people came in towards the end of our meal, and there were some pick-up orders, too. I ordered the Chicken Rashmi Kebab. Served not too differently than fajitas, it came sizzling hot and smelled fantastic. The chicken was not spicy (didn't expect it to be) and the onions were perfectly cooked. Be sure to squeeze the lemon over it for a little brightness to the dish. My companions do have food sensitivities, and the staff was knowledgeable and very conscientious about getting their dishes correct. Silver Coin has been around forever. My review is long overdue. This is a neighborhood place ~ Hoover's jazz bands used to play here occasionally. They also used to have a fabulous lunch buffet ~ a pre-COVID delight that is now gone. So why give this place a try now? Wonderful Indian food. The staff likely knows way more about Indian food than you do, so if you're uncertain, ask for (and follow) their recommendations. We went with Chicken Tikka and Chicken Curry with Moderate Spices (You can go Mild, Moderate, or Spicy) and naan. So so so good! Food is served promptly and is quite enough to share. The carrot pickle was flavorful and spicy, and paired so well with the papadum and the pakora. The chicken vindaloo hit all the marks, spicy and savory! The Dal was some of the best I have had- thick and stick to your ribs, and perfect for dunking your naan. The chicken tikka never disappoints and today it was creamy, seasoned well, and I kept eating past the point of full. This Tuesday through Thursday special is an amazing value and will feed 4+ folks. My hubs and I have leftovers which I can't wait to tear through. All dishes we ordered are delicious. Male server is friendly and nice. Female server who escorted us to the table might be not in good mood or did not want to serve for us. Silver Coin is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in town. The food is always delicious and the staff are always welcoming and helpful.

It has been awhile since I've been to Silver Coin. In that time they have added an outside seating area. This may have been in part due to covid, but it is a nice covered area with several tables and chairs. There were also outdoor fans for the patrons who prefer the outdoors even when it's hot. Another big change is that they no longer offer a buffet... at all. They used to offer an all you can eat buffet for lunch and this was one of the reasons I enjoyed this eatery. They now have an extensie multi page menu offering several different meats cooked in just about any indian cuisine style... well I'm sure there are more since I'm not an expert in indian cuisine. Nothing has changed much on the inside with tables scattered throughout with a couple of tvs and a large private banquet room next door. We were seated quickly and our server appeared almost immediately to take our drink orders. We tried their homemade samosas and they were fantastic! Probably some of the best I've had in years. Fresh out of the fryer, the blended potatoes with peas and indian spices with the wonderful crunch of the fried wrap... Yom Yom Yom Yom! One order gets you two samosas with the accompanying green and red sauces. I wish I knew what they were called. The red was sweet while the green was tangy and a little spicy. We polished the two off in a few minutes. It's difficult to describe the complex flavors of indian cuisine so I won't try here. I just know that I like it. People usually either like indian food or they don't. Matthew tried the Karahai Gosht: diced lamb cooked in tomato based gravy with onion, bell pepper and ginger. We didn't think it was spicy since it was stated in the menu, but it tasted good. Tammy ordered the Chicken Vindaloo: boneless chicken cooked with potatoes and tangy vinegar sauce. Bear in mind, this vinegar sauce is a dark curry like sauce and not what I would imagine if you told me vinegar sauce. Nevertheless it was delicious. My favorite of the 4 dishes we ordered. It had a great flavor. The marinated chicken was delicious. Sarah tried the Chicken Tikka Masala: boneless chicken marinated in spices roasted in tandoor and blended in a cashewnut sauce. Also creamy, this is a popular dish, had the most coconut curry flavor and did not disappoint. Finally I tried (on recommendation of our server) the Fish Curry: Tilapia cooked in curry of onion, garlic, ginger, tomato, herbs and spices. I think the dish would've been even better if they used bass, salmon, or even catfish, but it still hit the spot. The flavors just exploded in my mouth with this and the other 3 dishes. I was the only one who upgraded to the "combo" which just means you get naan bread with 2 additional dipping sauces, a curry type and a yogurt type. Pardon my archaic descriptions. Each dish by itself just comes with a small order of their very fragrant and delcious basmati rice. Otherwise, you will have to order your naan bread separately for an additional $5... which I highly recommend. An order of bread gives you two very large pieces of this out of this world flat bread. We dipped the bread in all 4 dishes and went to town! It was a very enjoyable meal, great service, nice atmosphere and of course great food. Still a 5 star for me. read more

Never really tried Indian food until now , I've never been to India but I'd bet my life that this is authentic, first off the service was great , I was greeted by a lovely lady and was promptly served a drink as I looked over the menu, I asked her to recommend and appetizer that wasn't chicken because I knew I wanted a chicken dish , she guided me to Onion Methi Spinach Pakora And it was addicting very crunchy with loads of flavor I added the red and green sauce I liked the red one best , shortly thereafter my meal came in decorative serving dishes , I was told by a friend to order the butter chicken if I ventured into an Indian restaurant, and that's what I ordered ( it's not on the menu) but first the bread is delicious in-house made for sure , the rice was cooked perfectly and I'm not sure what seasoning is used but it was very good and fluffy . The butter chicken was unique in that ever bite seemed to get better than the last , I'm ashamed to say this but two people would have been satisfied , I ate almost all of it , the sauce was the star of the show it really was delicious , not only was the food great the service and decor was done very well . Hard to recommend a restaurant more. The food is amazing, the owner is kind and greets you warmly. I miss the buffet wh rich went away with Covid but the plates are a great makeup. We love silver coin! I'm married into an Indian family who also love it so I can truly say it is a crowd pleaser and very authentic Indian food! We always get the palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, and turka dal - to me this is the best combo! We order it medium so that it's never too spicy for anybody but always has enough flavor. I would suggest ordering at LEAST two items when you go because it's all about the combination of flavors and textures. I almost always come for the lunch buffet and I especially like the weekend buffet because, while it is a little more expensive, it has some more items that I really like that arent available during the week. Having said that, Im definitely not opposed to coming during the week. Whenever anyone says Indian food, Im down for this place. I have a few friends, and my wife of course, who love going here, so its kind of our regular place. Absolutely love the food here! I haven't been here since 2021 and I decided to give it another try. I got the tomato soup for an appetizer and Baingan Bharta (eggplant, tomatoes, and herbs) as my entree. The flavors were immaculate! I wish they had some more gluten free options for appetizers, however. As far as the ambiance goes, it felt very warm and welcoming, which is always a plus. HOLY MOLY. When I tell you I was having a bad day, this was the ONLY part of my day that actually was amazing. The food! I ordered chana masala (chickpea-vegetarian meal) as well as chicken biryani. I mean it when I say, it's like they sent me at least two pounds of this savory, delicious rice. I appreciated that they listened to my request of no nuts in my meal, just because I know biryani sometimes does contain nuts. This meal did take a bit of time to prepare, but it was 100% worth the wait! I will definitely be ordered from here again--soon rather! As well as I will also be telling my family and friends about this business. The food was so plentiful, it allowed me to eat left overs for 3 days. We had a nice casual dinner at Silver Coin right before Valentine's day. The service was fine and so was the food, very lowkey establishment so it's hard to say much more! Would go back to try other dishes but there aren't too many vegan/vegetarian options. The tomato soup was very creamy, I wasn't expecting it to be so rich. Not bad by any means but I prefer a stronger tomato taste. I also had Samosa Chaat, my favorite Indian dish. The spices were balanced nicely.
