My new fav mexican restaurant in Homewood. Love the $2 tacos on Tuesday and $1.99 lime margaritas on Thursday!!!

New favorite place to grab some tacos! The staff here is friendly and helpful and the restaurant itself is clean and lively. I came with a large group and everyone said their meals were really good. The menu has some mexican classics such as tacos, tortas, chile colorado etc... And you really can't go wrong with anything here it appears. I ordered 3 tacos and a side of rice. I got chorizo, pollo, and pastor. I liked each of them equally, but the chorizo and pastor were my favorite. The meats were cooked properly with tons of seasoning bringing out tons of flavor. The tacos come with onion and cilantro, but there's a taco bar so you can dress your tacos exactly how you like them. The pickled onions are a must have, they are seriously a delicious addition to your tacos. If you're looking for some authentic Mexican food and great hospitality this is your spot!

Tacos Don Tachos is definitely a great place for tacos and other Mexican favorites. Since it is in a shopping plaza, parking is not an issue. Walking in, we were warmly greeted and our server was definitely friendly and professional. The ambiance is pretty pleasant and they have a salsa bar which adds to the experience. I went with four tacos and they were all very good. The others in my party got tacos, as well and one had a quesadilla. They also have ice cream and the ice cream looked very good, as well. Next time, I will have to try it. I will definitely recommend here and I will give it five stars.

Didn't add cheese sauce to our dish except a literal drop at the very bottom. So that tells me y'all knew y'all barely were putting cheese sauce and didn't just forget it. Barely gave us chips and the tiniest salsa you've ever seen.

    Their chips are great.

My family loves their food. I don't know how they make their refried beans and rice so yummy. The chips and always fresh and the queso has a great texture.

I really enjoyed my visit. I feel like Tacos Don Tachos is a hidden gem. It is pretty casual so perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. We ordered the carnitas and the Mexican burger. The portions are generous, especially for the price. The food came out piping hot so you could tell it was fresh. We did order two margaritas, they were pretty weak but heavy on the salt. The peach flavor was the best. The best part is, they have ice cream and treats right on hand that you can sample. There are lots of options and toppins to choose from. We tried a few of the ice creams and decided we couldn't leave without the coconut and chocolate.

Amazing food and their service is outstanding . I have been there about 4 times and I have not been disappointed.

The street taco"shrimps" was delicious along with Lime Margarita on the rocks and a glass of ice water with .The chips and salsa was tasty. This location has a self serve area to add salsa and toppings to the meal. The waitress provided good service and checked on me constantly. The ambiance of the restaurant was refreshing. The restaurant has a dessert menu for those who want desserts with their meals. Also, there is a bar area for customers who would like a drink . The customers can walk out to the side patio area and enjoy meals in the sunshine .

Well I went back a second time to make sure I wasn't over exaggerating. And like I thought, nope ! This place is a hit in my books so far. This time I went with family and had time to dine in . We wanted to try the drinks but the waitress didn't know how to make any drinks only margaritas. She apologized and said the manager had left and he was the only one that knows how to. The workers are not very fluent in English. But they try to understand pretty well. So I settled for the passion fruit margarita on the rocks , it was delicious . Also ordered the Mexican burger with the street corn . I didn't get a picture of the corn, it was passed down the table. My husband ordered the sizzling fajitas without rice . He was very pleased with his food . We have a Mexican restaurant near our home and he said he'll rather drive here. The desserts were a hit. This was a good visit .

This is a cool little Mexican eatery with friendly staff, cheap tacos and good drinks.

I had a great dinner here and can't wait to try more of their menu when I return. Foodies (like…read moremyself) will enjoy this place, from the vibes to the details in decor, food, and service. And I express my thanks to my servers and bartenders, who were not only attentive in service, but also offered recommendations which led me to a great dining experience. In short, I had the following: -dry-aged Shima Ahi crudo ( flew in from Japan) -a Mordella sandwich, and -peach fried pie. My wine pairing for my dishes was a California Albariño, which was a great surprise. I'm now searching for this winemaker to add bottles to my cellar. Every dish I tried was my favorite in its own way. Each meal was well-balanced and highlighted the flavors of every ingredient. The mortadella sandwiches featured a playful twist with Cobia fish, and the house-made focaccia bread, where the mortadella and Cobia spread are nestled, was truly what focaccia dreams are made of. Plus the garlic aioli for the fries is money !!! And the peach fried hand pie was the perfect end to a great meal. The aromatics of caramelized glaze comes across like it might be super sweet. But when you bit into the flaky buttermilk pastry crust it gave it a warm, humble feeling with the perfectly diced peaches pie filling adding the right touch of sweetness. And as a special treat, this hand pie is paired with a sour cream-lemon sorbet which I didn't know I needed in my life that was refreshing. The peach fried pie is a seasonal dessert, so enjoy it while you can. Overall, the ambiance and music were spot on making it a vibe that you definitely want to come for dinner or just enjoy cocktails which looked really yummy( but that's for another time ). The unique decor, with a mix of midcentury meets fisherman lighting and a crowned octopus handles tap beer, was a lovely detail when you get to sit back and enjoy. Even the plateware where food sits on is crafted by a local Bham female artisan at Civil Stoneware, is a nice touch ( which I was obsessed with ). I hope your experience is as great as mine. Happy dining y'all!

We were the only Black couple in the restaurant. Was that the reason? I can't say for certain. What I can say is that we watched every other table receive attentive service while we were repeatedly overlooked. We paid for our drinks and left because we refuse to support a restaurant where service is this poor.

We ordered drinks and she returned 2 mins later to take our food order. We ordered appetizers, salad and main courses. The drinks came quickly, the salads came right after and then about 3 mins later, the appetizers came out. 3 mins after that, the main courses arrived so we had plates stacked everywhere on the table and quickly tried to finish our salads and appetizers before the main dish got cold. The waitress never returned to the table until she brought the bill. The plates were all cleared by someone else. We saw her leave a bill at the table next to us and wait until they checked it over and figured out a payment method, so when she arrived at our table we just handed her a credit card. The food was average but the overall experience was terrible. I realize she was probably new and this may have been her first night but some training would go a long way! For $180 dinner, we expected a lot more.

Attentive without being obnoxious, in depth explanations of items on the menu with great recommendations! We started with a half dozen raw oysters and the pork belly. Oysters were very fresh and the seasoned crackers were a nice touch. The pork belly was quite possibly the best we've ever had and we're slight snobs about it. The fennel and orange mixture was a unique blend that really complemented the smokiness of the pork belly, Our steaks were melt in your mouth good. Cooked perfectly! I wished I could've just taken a massive bowl of the macaroni and cheese home. The char on the broccolini balanced the richness of the macaroni. They were sadly out of the crème brûlée, so instead I had the vanilla and peach gelato, while my husband had the chocolate l'orange cake. The vanilla gelato had the perfect rich vanilla taste. The peach didn't taste much like peach, but the flavor was still good. The cake was light and fluffy with a great balance of chocolate and orange. The candied orange peel on top was a nice touch! It's spectacular every time. The rotating menu keeps things fresh and interesting, and every dish we've had has been thoughtfully prepared and consistently excellent. The kitchen is clearly doing something special and it's a big reason we keep coming back. This visit, however, the service was unusually slow. Our dinner lasted about two hours (7:30-9:30) on a night that didn't seem particularly busy. There was a noticeable lull in the dining room with quite a few open tables, yet it still took nearly 40 minutes between finishing our appetizers and receiving our main courses. The pacing just felt off compared to past visits. Valet (which I understand isn't directly run by the restaurant) was also a bit slow -- about a 15 minute wait to get our car at the end of the night. All that said, Armour House is still a really special spot with incredible food and we'll absolutely be back.
