My name is Martin Zender. On May 6 of last year (2024) I visited the Biscayne Dental Center at 14550 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami Beach. I was there for the extraction of a molar. My doctor was Dr. Edgar Lopez. This was less of an extraction and more like a pit stop at the Daytona 500. I have had teeth pulled before, but Dr. Lopez worked as though he were being timed for a world record. He used three different instruments as he torqued, twisted, harassed, brow-beat, and finally yanked the tooth from my jaw. Following the extraction, there was no aftercare whatsoever by Dr. Lopez. Nothing. It turned out that, following this extraction, there was a gash in my mouth that exposed my jawbone. But I didn't find this out until approximately three weeks later when I went to a dentist in Peru. There, they found the injury. Though I had returned to his office three times post-extraction because of persistent pain, Dr. Lopez never did find the injury. Either Dr. Lopez did not realize he'd injured me, or he realized it and covered it up. Not sure which is worse. It took three months for the gash to heal; the pain lasted three weeks. I came to calling Dr. Lopez, "The Butcher of Biscayne." If you go to this place and get Dr. Lopez, just make sure to tell him to take his time. Oh, and don't expect there to be coffee in the waiting room on the table beneath the sign that says, "coffee." I think this is just another way to torment clients. That, and they inconveniently keep the bathroom locked at all times. (Maybe the coffee supplies are hidden in the bathroom?) read more

RUN. Don't look back. I could explain everything from these now 2 very painful expensive crowns that are incorrectly placed in my mouth that I STILL have to get redone, to the constant sales harassment every single time I walked into that office of "oh you should just get Invisalign already!" Which was just a constant reminder that #1, I couldn't afford it, #2 Them trying to squeeze every cent out of me they could and #3 My insecurity of my crooked teeth. Please go somewhere else. I have many more stories and you don't have to time to read them. Just look for a different dentist. Comfort Dentists in Plantation has been an AMAZING replacement for me. I DO NOT recommend this place. When you appreciate and know what quality service is it is hard to accept the poor service at this place. I used to go to Boca Raton to a great dentist for all my cleaning and dental work but I decided the convenience of this location . It is a disappointment. My daughter and I had cleaning and for myself a chose "deep cleaning" which they charge me extra. What a joke !!!! It was a complex scam !!! I got the same poor cleaning service as my daughter and I had to pay $80 on top of the regular cleaning . It was the worse dental cleaning I ever had and I could do it myself at home for free so don't waste your $$$ On top of it I pay for x rays and I requested the copies of it and they want an extrema $45 to give it to me. My entire family goes to this Dental Clinic now I was a bit skeptical to start off since I live in Orlando and coming all the way down for a dentist seemed a bit unnecessary! We can just start off with that I needed ALOT of dental work, 9 cavities, 6 fill ins, 3 extractions, etc. It was honestly so much that I'm probably getting the numbers wrong haha! I had been to previous dentists before and Dr. Lopez literally spent his time doing and EXPLAINING why And what I needed done. I end up traveling once a month, mind you I work full time and go to school so my schedule is already tight!!! Literally they have accommodated my schedule and laid things out in such a way that I'm able to do as much as I can when I come. I cannot rave about the staff enough! I'm very anxious when it comes to dental work and the sounds, yes I am that person haha! Yet the staff are literally like FAMILY! They're so sweet and caring, everyone to the dentist to the office managers to the hygienists! Every single person is so welcoming and loving, that it comforts me so much when coming there! Honestly it's a huge piece as to why I feel so good about being here and trusting them! Dr. Lopez I'm certain has magic hands, he's always so aware if I'm in any discomfort or pain while working on my teeth, it's truly so remarkable and honorable! He truly cares about his patients and will be a perfectionists when it comes to your teeth! My sister was telling me last weekend that he's so amazing that her kids will be coming to him haha! Oh I can't forget how good they are with payment options! Needless to say with all the work that I needed the amount was to be a concern, they were able to provide a variety of options and so willing to work with me! I absolutely adore this office and the staff. I came here about two years ago just by looking at the reviews. The office is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. The office is very nicely designed very clean cut and modern. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and honestly a trip. Those girls are hilarious!! I've been there countless of times and I checkin and the dental assist literally a minute later takes me to the exam room. No wait time, they are quick! The dental assistants speak Spanish which I'm familiar with so I speak to them in Spanglish! They always ask me about my hair and nails which is great it takes the edge of the nerves to get into small talk. Now Dr. Lopez is my doctor and I have to say he is a bit dry but I love him. Just recently I was there to remove an impacted tooth but there was some complications and he couldn't remove the root of the teeth because it was SO far back. (I've done another wisdom tooth extraction with him under a minute flat is how fast he is) He tried to take this sucker out for like an hour and a half and he communicated to me every step of the way and ask if I was okay. I NEVER FELT ANY PAIN! He made sure of that. He made it a point to make sure I'm okay these few days. He has called me personally to check on me and has given me instructions on what to do next. Even the dental assistant has been texting me. I highly recommend this office so much that I have sent my mother in law and girlfriend here and they both adore the entire staff also. read more

What a pleasant surprise. I was trying to reach my dentist's office after calling a few times and was unsuccessful at having anyone answer. I decided to go in person (since I happened to be in the area) and make an appointment for my next cleaning. However, there were no appointments available that day and none for another month and a half. I decided to call up other dentists in the area and the first one I called was Biscayne Dental Center. I saw their amazing reviews on Google before I saw their reviews on Yelp. I was so glad I called them. Although they didn't have any available appointments that day, I was able to still be seen and get my cleaning done the very same day after letting them know I have a very tight school schedule. I am very grateful for customer service. They made time for me!! I had to give them 5 stars after my hygienist (Maribel) took great care of me. She was excellent. Didn't cause any pain and was very thorough. She was down to earth and pleasant. I am very happy that I wasn't pressured to buy any products. That's such a big turn off for me!! Besides all of this and their exceptionally clean facility, I think I have found my new dentist. Dr. Hernandez was so kind as well. He told it like it is!! I don't have any cavities. My previous dentist told me I have 4! What in the world!? I know my PPO insurance is very attractive and all but dang!! Can you imagine? I would've had 4 root canals by now. Update: beware this business is fraud! Now they are sending me messages on yelp to "please remove reviews". hmmmm. Maybe give better service. I shared my honest experience. Don't drop the ball and be rude to people maybe! It's bad business to treat people the way these people treated me. Just taking advantage of someone they thought was young and stupid. All their reviews on google look fake to me. Most of the people have only written one review and all around the same time..... just saying. Probably people who work there! -------------------- Do not come here. This is the slowest office I have ever been to. They made me wait past both of my appointment times. Once I had finally made it into the room, they had me wait around another three hours. They kept going over prices over and over again, trying to confuse me and up sell me. I finally got so annoyed with them asking me the same things over and over again I just said fine. The blonde non English speaking assistant to Dr Lopez is THE WORST. She got this white cream on my face and I kept trying to tell her it was burning my skin very bad and I was in pain. She did not understand me, and just said "I so sorry sweetie". Oh, then her friend came in and the blonde assistant said "mirra mirra" then they both started laughing after looking at my mouth. How professional.. She also stabbed me in the lip and then kissed my forehead. This was very strange and inappropriate. I'm sorry but I came to get a tooth fixed. Not kissed. I had to come back in a few days to pick up my "flipper" tooth, which I had already paid for. They made me wait until 10:30, even though I had scheduled the appointment at 10 am. They knew I had came straight from work after a 12 hour graveyard shift and they had no sense of urgency. They were just sitting around speaking Spanish and stapling papers together. I finally got impatient and had to demand for what I had already paid for or for a refund. They refused to give me what I had already paid for because the doctor had to see if it fit. When I finally saw Dr Lopez, he criticized me for being in a bad mood and "always mad". Yes I'm going to be mad, I was 15 min early and waited way past my appointment time just so you could take one minute to pop something in my mouth and have me leave. After working 12 hours graveyard and him knowing that before my appointment. He also told me my schedule is impossible and I didn't try hard enough to be more flexible for him and his schedule. Oh, and he accused me of being late. Btw there is only one person there that can do a root canal and he only comes twice a month. Every other Wednesday. My mouth is still very sore and I am in a lot of pain. He gave me antibiotics for the pain. I had this procedure done five days ago. I am reporting them to the BBB and ADA along with my insurance company. read more

After looking around for a dentist to fix my teeth, I didn't feel comfortable with just anyone. I then proceeded to ask my mother who frequents here. She told me to go and get a free check up. I did as told. Felt good coming here because they know who you are. Basically my whole family comes here. And they take really good care of you. Beyond pleased with everything. Beware of this dentist office and DR LOPEZ they are racist towards people of color and if you dont give them a positive review before your cleaning, they will mess up your teeth!!! Perfectly good molars and he decided to drill both down and add tooth paste inside and fill them in!!!!! He messed up the alignment of my teeth so they could be damaged and cause self inflicting pain. This office looks very clean and pristine but they only want money and will give false examinations for it! I have nothing but great things to say about Biscayne Dental. I recently had my routine cleaning done by Maribel, and I can't believe I've gone 26 years letting other dentists near my teeth. This was THE most thorough cleaning I have ever experienced. I floss and brush obsessively so I was appalled to hear that I had some tar buildup. Maribel said the plaque had been there for more than 6 months, which confirmed my suspicions that my previous dentist wasn't doing the cleanings very well. I went to my Wife's Dentist at Aaron Dental down the street, to get a second opinion. Aaron Dental told me I DID NOT need the any of that after XRays done in office. Also told me I DID NOT need the deep cleaning either, only a normal cleaning. I have 0 cavaties, 0 Root Canal, and 0 Deep Cleaning. My dentist apt at Aaron Dental cost me nothing. I cant imagine if I listened to Biscayne Dental, and trusted what they said to me..I hope they get caught and charged with fraud. This is ridiculous. The receptionist was welcoming and friendly, the girl who did my xrays was soooo nice, her name is Lianet, a sweet heart who really helped me with my anxiety. I am from out of town and was experiencing tooth pain. I came across Biscayne Dental and drove in. They seemed helpful enough and i booked an appointment. I showed up for my appointment 5-10 minutes early and presented myself upon arrival. I was asked to have a seat. 1 hour later I was still left there with no communication as to why I hadn't been seen, or any communication as to how much longer I'd have to wait. I'm surprised as to the lack of communication as well as the ilack of respect for clients or their time. Eventually I simply got up walked out and wasn't even noticed. Incredibly RUDE receptionist. I called to reschedule a cleaning appt I had and the lady said "we don't do cleanings you have the wrong number." I repeated the number back to her and she said you have the wrong number. I asked her if this was a dental office and she said yes and then asked me for my DOB. Confused, I asked her why she told me they didn't do cleanings. She said well you said you had a Saturday appt and we don't do that. Are you gonna give me your dob? And where did you make this appointment because we don't do that" in the WORST tone and with so much attitude I was actually hoping I had called the wrong place. They have a new Patient Special for $39.99 that includes a Comprehensice Exam, Full Mouth X-Rays, and Cleaning. But here is the catch... That advertisement is not true.I went to their office and asked for the new patient special and the lady at the reception told me that If I had Gum issues or any major problems I would not be able to get a cleaning. I agreed to this because my teeth are in good condition and brush and floss on a regular basis. When I got the exam they did take X-Rays,but not the full mouth. For them to see my wisdom teeth area they would have to do a panoramic X-Ray which costs $100.00 extra and they told me a had some plaque so would need a semi-deep cleaning which costs $110.00 extra. So I did not get my cleaning after all left the office very upset from paying $40.00 for them to look at my mouth and give me a proposed treatment plan of $1994.00 with all work that needs to be done and including the cleaning etc. I would say that the new patient special is to get people in but is a rip-off. WORST Dental Office I have ever had the misfortune to find. Overpriced, overstaffed and unprofessional. I changed dentists after my first disappointing visit and have been fighting to get MY previously paid-for x-rays to my new dentist. Had to get insurance company involved (who also informed me the x-rays are mine) and may have to get ADA involved next. These people are thieves. I received a coupon for a Cleaning, X-ray and test for $39.99. They allowed me to use the coupon but there was a catch. Upon an exam the doctor stated that I needed a "better" cleaning and instead charged me $149.99 for the cleaning. These people are such scam artists. I decided to try this place out for my semi-annual cleaning, which is covered by my health insurance. When I scheduled my appt I was told that I could not schedule a cleaning as a new patient, but would have to first schedule a consultation to find of what kind of cleaning I would need. That should have been the first red flag for me to not go, but I still decided to give it a try. After doing x-rays, which the dentist didn't even look at, and poking my gums a bit, he concluded that I needed a deep cleaning. I take good care of my teeth so I did not believe such an expensive procedure to be necessary for me. I said that I just wanted a regular cleaning and he said that they would not give me a regular cleaning if I needed a deep cleaning. When I told the receptionist that I would not be coming back because they were refusing to give me a regular cleaning, she got verbally aggressive with me. "You have plaque and if you don't get a deep cleaning then in ten years your teeth will be falling out!" she said with attitude. By the way I'm 25. "Ok," I said, "I understand your policy, unfortunately I will just have to find another dentist." She acted personally affronted when I left. When I called back to get my X-rays the next day I was told that neither I nor any other dentist office can get copies of my X-rays without me paying $45. the worst experience I have ever had!! I went in for a cracked molar and the next thing I know I am hit with an estimate of over 12K. Had to argue with Dr. Lopez asst Lally who insisted I needed all this done. That became a massive fight. I needed the tooth pulled only to be hit with more charges. Went to pick the flipper several days later, which was paid for out of pocket to put down and explained that $400 in the dental world is nothing and that I am a problem and an issue. Unfortunately I still had to go back to have the stitches taken out of my mouth and when I tried to speak to Dr. Lopez, once again it was a fiasco. I have NEVER dealt with more arrogant and unprofessional people before in my life. I would never recommend this office or any of the dentist. I have insurance which I was told was the best there is and yet everything on my estimate was not covered by my insurance. I dont understand how that works and when I asked I was told I can go to a dentist in Hialeah.....I dont even understand what that means.
