And rightfully so! They make some good breakfasts! I like their biscuits and gravy as they do a great job with their sausage gravy. Their 'home fries' are new potatoes that are tender inside and have crisp, well-seasoned skins. My go-to is their Biscuits Breakfast. They know how to cook eggs - fried, scrambled, or poached. They have good quality bacon. Did I mention their sausage gravy? Of course I did...it's delicious! They have pancake-wrapped bacon. We had never heard of it before and sure enough, it's bacon cooked in a long, skinny pancake. I'm not a pancake fan but my friend who ordered it is and enjoyed it. For our first time on MV, Biscuits became our "go to" breakfast location. We enjoyed the food and above all the service and efficiency of the breakfast. With two little kiddos in tow, it was super helpful to have this level of friendly and efficient service. When we called to place an order we told them we had a boat in just over an hour and they told us "no problem your take out will be ready in 20 minutes". 40 minutes later we go up to ask how long and they tell us another 10-15 minutes. After that we go up once more and they said "sorry it took time to fry the chicken." While this is understandable they should have either planned for this situation or told us ahead of time when we explicitly asked. I got the Cod Cake Benedict and holy moly was this delicious! It came with home fries on the side and those fries were heaven. Although they were not conventional fries they were more like mini baked potatoes, the crust was just melt in my mouth. I don't even yelp (except one time I had food poisoning) but after today I felt the need to. DO NOT EAT HERE! Awful experience, would not go back. I have never had an experience at a restaurant like today. The staff made it so uncomfortable and unaccommadating for people in our party with a food allergies to order and substitute. The portions were a joke. Also, when we asked to add peppers and onions to a hash it was as if we asked for an extra kidney and the server seemed genuinely scared of the owner to ask. When they finally obliged it was almost insulting the amount I received on a separate plate. It felt like a fuck you from the cook/owner to be honest. This was a very pleasant surprise! We were going to go across the street but it was pretty busy, so we yelped and found this place right across the street. We were all super glad we did! The best french toast we have ever had and we are kind of french toast snobs! We had the ones with bananas stuffed but any style should be amazing as it seems to be the way they make it. We also had the crab cakes Benedict and a breakfast sandwich biscuit. We were too late to get their homemade cinnamon buns since they were sold out, but we suspect those would have been amazing. They had fresh squeezed OJ too. Everything was homemade and really, really good. It was fairly priced too, especially for being on the island. I would absolutely recommend them. What a great find in Oak Bluffs. My spouse noticed this place when we started an island tour in the morning and thought "This is probably where we will be eating lunch today". Funny thing - It was! When we got back from our tour, we could not find any restaurant in the area that could cater to vegetarians and/or had a line out the door. Biscuits came to the vegetarian rescue with their breakfast selections. We could tell that everything is homemade, including their amazing breakfast potatoes (which are baby potatoes split down the middle and roasted with seasoning (Yummy! Yum! Yum!). The perfect balance of no frills establishment and excellent food! Small place with simple decor and in the perfect location for people watching in Martha's Vineyard. Their menu has a fantastic selection, from health conscious granola and chicken sausage to down-home chicken and waffles and sausage gravy smothered biscuits. My south beach scramble of spinach, tomatoes, and feta (I cut the ham out) was fresh, flavorful and delicious!! With the side of home fries seasoned with the classic Lawry's, I couldn't have been happier. My friend's chicken and waffles looked fabulous also (sorry, forgot to snap a pic of hers before we dug in!).
