Show some compassion in your tone of voice when you're on the phone, try smiling when you're speaking. You get paid to answer phones, so pause if you must before you answer the call. If I could take stars away, I would. I'm only giving it one star because it will not let me do zero stars. This office is HORRIBLE. For the most part it's been the front office that I have issues with. They lose my signed I have to go back multiple times and resign them because they can't find them. They don't return phone calls. They don't pass on messages. And they are never available to answer their phone. Now one of the rendering providers within this office, referred me to a cardiologist and assured me that that cardiologist was in network with my insurance. I trusted that provider. They sent my referral to the cardiologist. I scheduled my appointment and had my visit. Only to find out that they are not in network and I now have a $941 bill. I made it very clear to physician that day that I needed to see somebody in network with my insurance policy. And when I to let them know what kick it back and tell me to talk to my insurance company instead of taking responsibility for the fact that they completely screwed up. read more

This doctors office was recommended and found by my wife using Google search. There are only two things that are positive I can say about this office. Number one they were able to get me an a an appointment within a week. Number two the personnel seems to be very accommodating and nice. After that the best way to describe the office and how it operated......IT WAS a GIANT CLUSTER FUCK!!!The left hand NEVER knows what the right hand was doing.!! Their voicemail system was the worst I have ever dealt with. I would leave a voicemail or try IN each one of their compartments and I never got a response back even after two weeks. The one department that was supposed to help you for urgent matters was always full or it was busy. I never got any type of response or I could never ever leave a voicemail. Though the personnel seem to be accommodating whenever they said that they would get back with me, no one no one ever did. I had to call two and three times a day to get an update or find an answer to a question I had given them. It was horrible just horrible. Also Monday through Thursday they had a two hour lunch schedule in which they never told you about. I just happen to find out that one of those hours was for them to catch up on paperwork. But that was never ever ever explain to me I had to find out on my own. They only had a one hour lunch on Friday...it was lunchtime but no one would it take a call ... Plus you could not leave a voicemail and you will never get a call back if you could. The only time you could talk to a real person was maybe at 8 o'clock in the morning when they actually would open up. Someone may actually answer.. My first and only time I had seen a doctor was the day after Labor Day at 10 AM in the morning. Plus this was a new Doctor who had just started at this clinic and I was her very first patient. She listened to my issues and took down my list of medication. After that I never had contact with her again or any correspondence whatsoever... She is beyond compassionate and caring and will really listen to you. Katherine has helped me out so much the past few years after Kaiser has let me down. We found that high mycotoxin levels and a genetic predisposition to getting sick from mold have probably been the primary cause of life degrading symptoms I've had the past decade. I had an appointment for 8:30 am. There was work on the road right before the clinic and I arrived there at 8:36. While checking in, the receptionist said she would have to reschedule my appointment because they have a 5 minute late policy, and my appointment was at 8:20. while I like the concept of Functional Medicine, I have issues with this office. The office staff is not educated on medicare, and is less than helpful about scheduling in those perameters. There's also a big issue with proper billing, and I was (mis)diagnosed for 3 things by them (and billed hundreds beyond what insurance would pay for as preventative. Without referal I went to specialist for those diagnosis, only to be told by specialist that I DO NOT have those maladies. And now they're in my file as pre-existing. Just sayin. read more

I really liked Dr. Bisharat when I first started at IMWT several years ago. She seemed knowledgeable and kind. Her P.A.'s Katie and Chin Wei are excellent, her nurses are great but her office staff is lacking in customer service skills for sure. But Dr. Bisharat herself is suffering from one of the worse cases of mass formation psychosis I've seen. Get mental health has definitely deteriorated to the point where she's yelling at patients about a mask when they're in terrible pain and hyperventilating. It's sad that she's more worried about a useless face diaper and a cold virus than a patient in pain. Her lack of empathy and compassion is shocking and she seems to have gone off the rails because she believes all the propaganda she's seen on the news. It's a sad thing to witness. I have had chronic pain for over 10 years, and other issues and I decided to leave the corporate world of medicine and come to see a functional doctor. I absolutely love all of the staff and the environment. Josh Dr Bisharats pa is a very nice man and very quick in responding outside of the office. Dr. Bisharat takes her time, listens and cares about her patients and their well being. I'm excited about finding a diagnosis and healing from it. I highly recommend this office. I have seen Dr. Bisharat and her staff for several years. She is kind, smart and caring. While she can be a bit terse at times I recognize she has a challenging job and despite some of the one star reviews below she and her staff do not deserve that (no snake oil saleswoman, no quacks, etc.). The office is a bit unconventional, she is a big believer in functional medicine, but the more I learn about it the more sense it now makes to me. I have been seeing various PAs and the MD in this office for three years. This is the FIRST office that has truly heard me and sincerely worked to treat my chronic autoimmune disease (Hashimotos) through both functional and traditional medicine. Chien Wei, Katie, and Dr. Bisharat have always been kind and clear communicators and have not stopped seeking ways to get me well. I'm better than I've ever been. I actually left Kaiser and UC Davis (which are wonderful in other ways) because the doctors there did not know how to treat thyroid patients with the best and most current methods. These doctor simply have not been trained in integrative medicine, which is a fault in our system, not with the people. This is the first place that is both covered by my insurance and allows for 1-hour functional medicine appointments. Will you have to take supplements to be well if you have a serious or chronic condition? That is very likely. I choose this path of wellness along with lifestyle changes. The best part is that they can also handle all my other needs--allergies, female annual exam, removal of a mole, etc. I will say that the office staff has improved greatly in the last 6 months and the new patient portal is much more efficient. But do be aware that this is not the massive, well-oiled machine of Kaiser. Hours at this office are limited, and there usually aren't appointments on Friday. For me, it's worth these small inconveniences to get effective treatment that is cutting edge for my ailment and to be respected as someone who knows her body and my needs. read more

I do not recommend Dr. Bisharat. My appointments were very unproductive because I had to wait for about 2 hours to see the doctor @ each appointment. While I was waiting I would hear other patients complaining about the wait and if it's even worth it. Then when I finally see her and spend time explaining things I needed, she referred me to a specialist for EVERY SINGLE THING! You would think she is getting a commission or something. So she never did any doctor work herself. Examples are referring me to a gynocologist just because I needed birth control & a pevlic exam, referring me to a dermatologist just because I wanted something for my acne, and referring me to an allergist just because I wanted allergy meds. Those are all things she could have done herself! (in theory) She did say she would give me a script for flonase, but she didn't. She never called me to go over bloodwork with me, so after a lot of waiting I called them and found out my Vit D levels were extremely low and I had to start taking supplements. She only calls about things that are "truly" important, not a measly vitamin D deficiency. So basically I will never go to this woman again, and I will go to a doctor that can actually be a doctor. EDIT: I do want to mention that some people like this kind of doctor and they like seeing specialists instead of just their doctor. I am not one of these people. read more

I'm a new patient, and today met with the PA, a very nice and professional woman. I've got a hip issue, so she is sending me for X-rays to find what's wrong. I also have to get blood work, and they also sent a prescription refill for a med that I'm out of. I also got to meet Marley, the office dog, who loves people AND belly rubs! She's very friendly, and takes her job quite seriously. After my tests and X-ray I need to go back to speak with the PA again. Her two P/A's aren't all that great and one of the two is an absolute idiot that received his medical degree from a McDonald's Happy Meal box. Dr Bisharat's Office staff are literally so bad, they should be fired for their behavior. Holding medical records "Ransom" until fees be paid isn't a sign of a professional medical office. Whether or not a patient is Donald Trump or the poorest person alive shouldn't matter in regard to medicine....but it does at this clinic. If you have chronic illnesses or need any type of ongoing care DO NOT GO HERE. They practice pseudoscience under "functional medicine" and are ONLY concerned about making money outside insurances. Dr Bisharat is a SNAKE OIL SALESWOMAN. They're antivax and anti real internal medicine The office is more concerned with selling you highly priced supplements and outside testing that costs about 400 dollars and is not covered by insurance. I have seen both doctors here, both PAs and the nutritionist. The test was pushed at all visits. The nutritionist only suggested OTC rare supplements they just so happen to sell. The PAs are very empathetic and attentive and do their jobs as well as they can in that office, Michael and Katie have treated me with dignity and compassion. My issue is with the doctor leading the office and the inefficiency of the front desk in communications. Bisharat spent more time seeking zebra diagnosis like toxic mold exposure and heavy metal poisoning even though I'm 29 and do not have a history of being in a damn coal mine. Every appointment I have had has pushed this 400 dollar STOOL test over the very much insurance covered Quest Diagnostic ones that rule out main issues. I have diabetes and through her scattered blood testing she found Hashimotos which she refused to treat with medication and instead pushed the 400 dollar stool test, guilting me for not affording it. And suggested diet and refused specialist referrals. My feet are numb and my fingers are going as well and this was ignored until I started a diet. I have widespread issues that need specialized attention and this office is very against sending people for referrals outside of their own office and functional medicine bunk. They are hard to get a hold of on the phone, they take a two hour lunch midday and do not return calls. Refills are difficult to get and state disability paperwork needs completed on paper instead of the faster submission online. I can not advise against this office more unless you are adamant on seeking functional medicine and you are stable and able bodied and just want to see if you have toxic mold exposure for fun. read more

This office is the absolute worst I've ever dealt with! From my experience, this doctor rarely sees patients herself, but leaves most of the work to her PAs. She used to have an absolutely wonderful PA who left about 3 years ago or so. I didn't mind seeing her. But the last PA I dealt with left a completely sour taste in my mouth for this doctor and her office. She actually folded her arms and told me she *could* examine me to see why I might be experiencing bleeding between my periods, but since I had a known fibroid tumor, what's the point (the assumption being that for the rest of my days on this planet, any otherwise unexplained bleeding or pain can be automatically be put down to the fibroid tumor)? So, thinking that there was no point in even mentioning it anymore, I've ignored my symptoms that she put down to the fibroid tumor. Well, things have gotten worse over the last 3 years, and I now have an appointment Monday for an endometrial biopsy - given that my symptoms are consistent with those of endometrial cancer (as told to me by a different doctor). I hope it really is just the fibroid - but if it isn't, I've lost a lot of time in a battle I didn't even know I was fighting - all because that PA was too lazy to do her job. I still had to pay for an office visit, regardless. Also, as other people have mentioned, they do not send you the results of any tests you've had done through their office. I actually had to go to a different doctor and have her order my records to get the test results. Ridiculous! I read through the reviews on here and was stunned. Dr Bisharat is the preferred by many nurses I worked with. Some of the complaints by others were correct in the past. The wait time was longer than it needed to be. Front staff could be better at customer service. Kenny and Vanessa are very caring. I love my PA, Katy. Everything gets run by Dr Bisharat whether you see her or not. She is very knowledgable, particularly with unusual or obtuse problems. What a gem! read more

As much as I respect this doctor and her approach to health in general, I'm afraid I have to agree with other comments regarding the lack of professionalism among the office staff - and the billing service that she uses! I have noticed a high turnover within the office in all positions. This is a cause for concern of itself. My work has changed insurance providers and Dr. Bisharat is no longer in my network...so it didn't break my heart that I must move on. I switched to Dr.Bisharat from my previous GP after doing some research on Functional Medicine. I have Hashimotos disease and Diabetes and wanted a more natural approach to treat my conditions. Switched at the beginning of November with the intent on scheduling an appointment soon thereafter. Called the office first week in November only to get an answering machine with no name and no greeting telling you who you have reached.... NOTHING! Left a message and waited. The following week I called and left another message explaining that I would like to make an appointment to go over my conditions and medication. NOTHING! A couple of days later, I awoke to a fasting blood sugar reading of 188! YIKES!! I had never had that before and knew it was SUPER high. Called the office AGAIN and left ANOTHER message explaining my situation. I have waited 1 week and still NOTHING!! Words do not describe how disgusted I am that this office is still being accepted by my insurance. After reading these reviews on Yelp, I am wondering how this Dr. stays in business! I am really not one to write reviews but felt very strongly that other potential patients should BEWARE! I have been a patient of Dr. Bisharat's for about 5 years and don't see her very often b/c I don't like the practice or the way she practices medicine. The Good: After I complained (in the comment box) that the waiting area was depressing, it got a makeover. Dr. Bisharat seems like a caring person who is concerned about her patients, she has phoned me personally at times. The Bad: The last 2 times I was there for a routine visit, she and her assistant spent the whole visit staring at their laptop computers not me. Apparently they use some kind of checklist or something that requires their full attention to the screen. I felt like an intruder to their process. I'm currently looking for another PCP. read more

The office staff is unprofessional and rude. I have waited up to an hour at times and they do not call you back in a timely manner. If they even answer their phones during regular business hours...good luck getting a return call..The providers take up to a week to return calls about lab work or simple call backs. Once you are in the office you are rushed out without as much as a thank you for your patience. She also hired some new staff and they do a better job them the ones she used to have. Still I think the PA's are way too inexperienced, although they seem nice enough. I have been seeing Dr. Mythili Nagaraj on the staff at the wellness center, and have been less than thrilled with her demeanor and empathy. She did order a thorough load of blood work, all of which returned primarily normal which seemed to close issues I have as far as she's concerned. During visits, she carries her laptop everywhere and seems more attentive to it than to me. Promised to upload test results and information to patient page and failed to do so. Front desk Staff less than friendly or helpful. Waits are too long for refill approvals on medications. I will not be going back and am in the process of looking for a new physician. read more

I established care with this office when I moved to the area. The first visit I was sold on this office as being reasonable and caring about health care and then, every visit thereafter has been an absolutely waste of time and worse than when I walked in. There is absolutely no desire to do anything convenient for the patient. The mid-level provider I saw, would discuss with me one thing in the room, not document it correctly, and then claim it never happened, so I'd have to spend more money to come in and talk to her about it again. The only real medical issue I have, has been maintained on the same med for years and I was absolutely just fine. She went on some weird tangent telling me I had issues that I didn't have, sending me on a laboratory escapade, screwed me up worse by changing me to some weird medication that causes more symptoms and fluctuation, so I had to be seen and monitored closer...all to find out I had nothing she was diagnosing me with and she was creating more symptoms and problems so I would have to come back more often and see her...sounds like a sketchy way to do medicine. When you call, you sit on hold with an annoying beep in your ear until their unfriendly and comical example of professional staff decides to do their job. When they do come on the line, they only take messages half the time, and when days go by and you call back, there is no record you called, or, no one called you back to tell you the answer to your simple requests and concerns. I'm not quite sure if the doctor does exist in this office or it is ran by a bunch of mid-levels making shit up as they go using you for a science experiment. Dr. Bisherat is the BEST primary doctor I've ever had, and I'm speaking from 50 yrs of nursing experience here. It's really easy to bash someone because they don't fit their model of what a dr. should be (at their beck and call at all times, never have to wait, etc.) She has been responsive to my needs, referred me to specialists when needed, and spent time making sure to go over tests and procedures to make sure I understood. I've gone to drs. before who never touched me or looked at the body part that was a problem! She is also very intelligent and aware of alternative therapies that can assist people to a healthier lifestyle. Take the blinders off, folks.
