There seems to be no urgency when it comes to answering phones, I just needed to speak to someone regarding what may or may not be going on and get someone who could speak to my husband David Young who has dementia. I've called several times and was put thru to a mail box that is full, I got one mail box where I left a message and a couple of times hung up on and switched to the wrong floor. Bishop McCarthy is a rehabilitation center in Vineland. My grandmother has been under the care of Bishop McCarthy since October. The rooms are usually shared with another person and there are meals provided in the dining hall or in the rooms. The nurses and doctors make their rounds to dispense medicine and care. They do a good job of hosting events and adding lively photos and decorations on the walls. There is also a chapel to worship. My grandmother says the food is decent. It is average and nothing fancy as far as decor and upkeep. read more

I spent 27 days at Bishop after I fractured my right femur. I received excellent care during my stay. The nurses showed great caring when dealing with patients. The therapists were great to work with. They were patient with me and very pleasant to work with. All and all if I have to return to this type of facility, I would come here. read more

I love Bishop McCarthy. They really care for my mother-in-law and take such wonderful care of her! She has been happy there. The only complaint I have is things like body wash, body spray and phone chargers keep disappearing from her room. Its been very annoying. read more

Bishop McCarty is one of the cleanest nursing homes around Cumberland county area!! Very Pleasant workers treated all Patiences with great Care, Food is great, and patients get what they want And need! Vwry friendly atmosphere and makes you feel right at home. I can not state this enough DO NOT SEND A LOVED ONE HERE! Twice now just because of the locations convince to their home my grandparents have come here after vary serous hospital stays. My grand mother 4 years after kidney failure, and this year my grandfather after losing feeling in his legs due to Pneumonia. My grandfather on top if the numb legs and pneumonia suffers from Dementia all this change is scary to him a fact the staff gloss over. They are so understaffed that my grandmother who was diagnosed with Acute Care Giver Syndrome, that's why her kidneys shut down 4 years ago because taking care of my grandfather was more important to her, is spending all day in his dark dirty room doing the job of the floor nurse for my grandfather. Getting him up. Getting him dressed. Changing his adult pull ups. Helping him to and from the bathroom. Washing him. Bringing him his food because the nurse left it for two hours in the hall! The only thing my grandmother isn't doing for him is his PT. When my grandmother is sent home after visiting hours my grandfather is calling Her, Myself, My Mother, or My Aunt to get help. We are his nurse call button because its a half hour+ before a staff member answers, so we are calling the desk and relaying what he needs from 9pm till 4am His has been there for a week and only yesterday (Sep 25) did they start to treat him for a bed sore "He had from the hospital" that I call BS on Inspira would have told us if he did or not while he was there. And if that is true then it was on his discharge papers WHY DID IT TAKE A WEEK FOR YOU TO FIND AND TREAT IT! read more

DO NOT send your loved one here. This place is neglectful, unprofessional and filthy. My grandmother was admitted after a procedure on her foot. They did not change her bandage every day, even though it was on her discharge papers. Her blood sugar was over 500 which is extremely dangerous for a diabetic. They refused to feed her a diabetic diet. They dropped her face mask on the floor and didn't clean it before putting it on her. They did not stick to the schedule she needed in order to recover. AND there are roaches everywhere! WORST rehab my family has ever dealt with. read more

My dad was here for 4 days total in sub acute rehab. He fell the first night and the nurse didn't bother calling me to tell me. I heard from my dad later the next day and called the nurse who eventually acknowledged that this event occurred.... But they didn't think it should be reported to his family. The entire time he was there, it was impossible to speak with staff on the phone. I would get mis-transferred or transferred to voicemails that were full or the phone would just continue to ring. Even the very first time I called to find out about visitation, I was transferred to administration and eventually their voicemail because the front desk did know (never got a call back either). Communication is really hard and feels like work just to see how your family member is doing. Then unrelated to the fall, my dad went to the hospital. He was sent by his nurse at rehab before breakfast. He didn't have his dentures in and everything he had was left at rehab. Somehow his dentures, cell phone, wallet, and clothes were all lost. I went back and forth with staff for a couple of weeks since I never get anyone one the phone. I even physically showed up one night to confront the front desk lady whom transferred me to 2 seperate vmails and then stopped answering my calls. Eventually they finally confirm that no one was able to find my dad's personal belongings. They filed a "complaint" but they cannot reimburse us for anything lost. I don't know what a "complaint" does but it doesn't fix any of their problems. Do not come here or send any family members here. They clearly cant watch them, cant keep an eye on their belonging, and don't seem to care to speak with you if you are not in the facility which is hard to get into during the pandemic. read more

This place is the worst . No one cares about anything and everything was a huge bother to all there. The nurses are ignorant not only missing in action most of the time.they treat their patients like they are a bother to them. To the point I have had to put in complaints.this place is a dump....the food my father was given i would not give to a stray cat. Please,please do not give this place a thought........ read more

Don't get lured by the soft-voiced phone advertisement of this place. The conditions in it are terrible: the wards are crammed - 3 people in each ward with only one bathroom to share, the distance between the beds is about 4'. I was shocked to learn that some patients had COVID on the ground floor, but the wards were all open - had no doors. My father was not sick. He was admitted for just 4 day respite care, but he was offered a middle bed in one of such wards, with two other bed-ridden patients. I regretted bringing him there the moment I saw it. The bed didn't have any mattress on it. I checked the bathroom. It looked dirty, as if it had not been cleaned for days. I had a thought that prison inmates must have better comfort and more privacy than the patients at this center. The personnel was rude and unprofessional. They were trying to reprimand me for their own failure to communicate with my father. One of the nurses said to me that he stank and repeated it several times. I was constantly called up and asked to translate, although I brought a set of duel-language cards (at least two were related to bathroom issues). On the second day my father was transferred to the second floor. I was told that he was walking the halls getting into the other patients' wards. I thought that it was expected from anybody who wasn't sick or crippled. He was not used to sharing rooms with strangers and was just trying to go for a walk or find a quiet room for himself. I tried to calm him down and explain to him that he should not wander around or bother other people. He said that he did not do anything bad. He just did not like staying inside the building all day, in the same room with sick people, because he was fine. Then I was informed that the police was summoned because there was an incident. I thought that my father might jump out of the second floor window trying to escape, but then I was told that he scared many people on the 2-nd floor... When the police came, I tried to explain to them that my father did not mean to harm anybody and I asked the officer, "Why did this place agree to admit my father if it could not handle him or could not offer the proper care for him? Is it his fault? Whose fault is that? Our case manager's? Call her!" Next day my husband and I were on pins and needles all day. It was the third day of our vacation. And just as the other two days, it did not start well. In the middle of the night, between12:00 to 4:00 a. m. we received about ten phone calls from the center. We were told that the police was coming again, and my father was to be transferred to the Regional Hospital in Vineland. They said that he needed an evaluation. They called us again and again interrupting our sleep asking me to translate for my father and the police officers, who were trying to convince him to lie down on stretches. But he did not understand why he had to go to another hospital and why he had to go there on stretches when he could walk to the car himself. When the last phone call came, while my father was leaving the place, I heard roaring laughter of the center's personnel celebrating my father's departure. We did not sleep all night after that and were ready to drive back home from Kentucky without waiting till our tomorrow flights. When we were taking my father home from the hospital the next day, he was calm, but very sad. He was transferred there without his medicine or any belongings. When we entered the room, he was lying on the bed all hunched up covering himself over the body and the head with a thin blanket. He wore a thin hospital gown and a pair of hospital socks, nothing else (no underwear). He lay there motionless. I said, "Dad, it's over. We are taking you home." But he did not even move, just mumbled, "Maybe you should let me stay here and die." The hospital nurse told me that she did not understand why he was brought in. He was not sick. He was calm and cooperative all the time. The doctor said that he did not need any evaluation because he behaved adequately: knew who he was, what his age was, etc. When my father was admitted to the Center, I was told that all his belongings would be marked, but when we came to pick them up a day after, only the socks had labels on them. There were other people's clothes in our backpacks, but some of my father's belongings were missing: two praying books, a brand new shirt, 3 towels, and a photo album with our family photographs, which were of great personal value to us. None of these items were returned to us. Nobody ever called us to give us an update on the lost items. After waiting for a month I decided to put up a complain. I hate complaining, but in this case I just can't help doing it. read more

My SIL spent a few weeks here convalescing after a hip surgery; Bishop McCarthy was able to help her rebuild strength in a quick efficient manner. Not one moment of her stay was overlooked from the food to the cleanliness of the facility to the attentiveness of the staff. If ever a family member should need a service like this again Bishop will be our first pick. read more

If I could give this place a minus zero, I would. Breakfast 9:30AM or later. Lunch anytime after they've served the Dining room. It was 1:30PM and lunch was at the end of the long, long hall. Overcrowded rooms. Three people in a room allowing less space than is afforded a criminal. Could not have a visitors' chair for any of them. I had to stand. The door to the bathroom opened into my brothers' bed. He's in a wheelchair, as are the other two men. I couldn't believe that the CNA watched as he struggled to get into the bathroom. Dining room is run by people that can carry only one thing at a time. The servers, mostly, did not wear gloves. He entered this place following a hospital stay for both a UTI and pneumonia. It was five days, and not one person checked his lungs. He has COPD too. Medication, which, should follow from the hospital, did not. The assigned rehab doctor, that had not ever seen him, changed his medication. He takes FDA controlled medication, that can not be changed without consult by his primary. This was not done. On a mundane level, he did not get a menu for 4 days. Did not get safety socks because they ran out of them. What is wrong with this? Sick people are treated horribly at this rehab. read more
