Maria (I believe is her name) was the person cutting my friend's hair. My friend went in and showed one picture and Maria said ok and said she got it and acted confident. Then, after TWO minutes of sitting in the chair, my friends hair looks nothing like what they asked for. After already saying they were nervous about their haircut, Maria still went HAM on their hair. Save yourself a lot of frustration and don't darken their door. The owner is all talk, no walk, and is accountable for nothing. She switches stylists with little notice, which I find completely unprofessional. Further, on my last appt., the newly assigned stylist neglected to review my history, causing the need for me have to explain my needs all over again. This is needlessly wasting time. Salons are supposed to be about comfort, quality, and relaxation, not riddled with unprofessional, self-serving staff. There's no accountability here, anything that goes wrong will be your fault. OMG.... I am in aww, I went in to bishops for a balayage and my hair was already pretty light. I showed Seth my inspo pic of my ideal hair and he went above and beyond! I have never had my hair done in a salon so I was spectacle and nervous. But as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a big smile and felt welcomed. Sam did an amazing job. I was in town before a wedding and needed a quick trim, so just stopped somewhere nearby. Sam was incredibly attentive, asked lots of specific questions about what I wanted with my hair cut - what length, shaping, layers, face framing. Her attention to detail was more than I have gotten from many other stylists in the past. She also had some extra time at the end, and was able to give me a round brush blow out on the house. Unfortunately, I don't live in Austin full time, or she would definitely be my go-to hairstylist! The owner was also very sweet and attentive. Bishops is new to my neighborhood and I'm glad I tried them. You can make an appointment easily on their web app, and Samantha was both punctual and pleasant to work with. It may not be the most headturner of a haircut I've ever had, but she was competent, efficient, and a good blend of respecting my desires while also provide some expert advice. I'd much rather have that in a salon with accessible hours and easy scheduling than a salon that costs twice as much and never answers the phone, which is pretty typical in my neighborhood. Was recommended this place and saw it had good reviews so I was excited to try it out, but I don't really like the haircut I got. I asked for a straight cut but it ended up being shorter in the back and uneven in places and the shape of it looks pretty weird. Also the website says long cuts are $45 but I was charged $65 plus tax and tip. I won't be going back here. I really wanted to like this place because the vibes are cool and the chairs are comfortable but I had a terrible experience and I won't be returning. The facts: I called in advance and explained that I wanted full highlights and that this procedure at my other salon typically takes 3 1/2 to 4 hours. I explained that my obligations made it so that that was my timeframe. The owner was unable to provide an estimate for the cost of the services over the phone. he indicated that he understood my time constraints. My appointment was at 10 o'clock and the owner showed up late. The door was locked so I was left standing outside until he arrived. once I was inside I explained to the stylist exactly what I wanted. She then repeated back that she was going to do something different. I said I wanted full highlights and she said we would lift the full color. I spoke up and said that I don't have time for that type of procedure and that I wanted to stick with my regular or highlights. She indicated that she understood. The owner also indicated that he understood this. I said I did not want to be there any longer than four hours. The owner and the stylist indicated that they understood this. The stylist was very nice and kind. The stylist completed the highlights but then said that she was going to put on a toner. I mentioned that I had a bad back due to a previous back surgery and the stylist indicated that she understood. I was left at the sink for a very long time while she mixed the toner. this was very uncomfortable. The toner took a very long time to apply and started burning my scalp. I mentioned to the stylist that my head was burning. She replied "Awwwww." she continued applying the toner. Again, she is very nice and I felt like she was confident in her skills. However, once my hair was completed and styled, it was noticeably pink and purple in many areas. The stylist assured me that this would wash out in a few days. There was some type of issue with ringing me up at the register and another stylist was called into assist. I was not provided any kind of receipt and left the salon with pink and purple hair and unsure of what I had paid. The front and top of my head was and is pink and purple. I have now watched it twice since leaving the salon and it is still pink and purple. I believe the toner was left on for too long and the red tones in the toner have stuck to the highlights. I called the salon and asked to speak with the owner. When he got on the phone, he completely over spoke me when I was very calmly and kindly imparting my concerns to him. I felt that something had gone wrong with the toner and he denied that. He must not have gotten the memo that we are in the era of Kamala Harris and "I'm speaking" Because he completely over spoken to several times during the conversation. He did offer for me to come in for a correction anytime within seven days. I was very uncomfortable with the way he never spoke to me and I felt disrespected and there's no way I would return there. I would not want to be in his presence again after he over spoke me on the phone. I don't appreciate that my experience and perspective was denied. I offered to send the owner photos of my hair and I texted them to him. I received no response even to acknowledge that he received the photos. It has now been several days and I've heard nothing back. My hair is clearly not the color I requested. I was in there for 5 hours, much longer than I anticipated based on several conversations I had with the staff.Customer service and accountability go along way and that is not something I received from this salon. read more

Unfortunately my experience here was not a pleasant one, however the employees for the most part seemed friendly and the situation was handled professionally in the end. I went to this business to get my hair dyed a light pink with orange tones, peachy. The first thing I asked for during my consultation and on the phone while making my appointment was to not have my hair bleached. I had natural long, thick, curly, LIGHT blonde hair. I had never bleached it and never wanted to. Unfortunately I had previously used an at home dye in my hair and was told that it would muddle the color and wouldn't be light enough for the color I wanted If we didn't bleach it. To my detriment I decided to take the advice of the professionals around me and they proceeded to bleach my hair. Something I had originally specified I did not want done... The bleaching alone took 4 hours to complete. I had been booked for 3 hours for this appointment and ended up being there 6 and a half. I realize different hair takes different times and my hair is very thick. But the majority of that time was spent ruining my hair with a service I asked NOT to have done. The end result with the dye in was a bright neon Barbie pink, not the soft peach color I had asked for. It was also extremely uneven and patchy (see photos). And to my great disappointment the one part of my hair where I liked the color was the ends, which was also coincidentally the one part that wasn't bleached... I called the next morning to reschedule an appointment to have it fixed. Initially on the phone they told me to, "just deal with it for a couple weeks until it fades." And that I," seemed happy with it." I put on a happy face because I was there a half hour past close, didn't want to be rude and just wanted to get home. But I insisted I did not like it and felt ridiculous. Luckily they booked me to have it fixed a week from then. I went in and they finally stripped the old color from my hair. When I spoke to my stylist about the color again I told her LIGHT pink with orange. For whatever reason every step of the way the employees kept repeating that, "we don't want to see that orange." Even though that is what I had asked for from the beginning? When I sat down to have the color put back in the stylist told me to, "sit back and relax." Without showing me the color... I asked to see it and it was very clearly a bubblegum pink... Lighter than the original color but still not what I asked for, again. I reiterated that I want more orange in it. After several tries she reached the color I wanted and applied it. Finally after 11 hours at the salon it was over. I was relieved to be done but ultimately left feeling very disrespected and did not feel like I was being listened to the entire time. The one reason I am not giving them one star is that they fixed their mistake free of charge. However my overall experience was very unpleasant and I cannot say I would recommend this place to anyone. I honestly wish I had just died my hair at home like I've always done in the past. read more

I took my daughters roommate from college to get her hair bleached. It was her first time ever getting her hair done and I was terrified. Everyone was so nice and made the experience really something special. They answered all of our questions and were very responsive. Sam did an amazing job. We could not stop praising her and the shop manager at the time for their wonderful service. Sam knew that we were new to this and a little nervous. I got my haircut by Amy today. I am so happy to have finally found my stylist for all future haircuts! She did such a perfect cut on a not so perfect cut when I went in. She blended the problem areas so well, that they aren't even a problem anymore. She is also super easy to talk to and makes suggestions but is ok to wait if you aren't ready. I really thought this would be a good experience. I scheduled the appointment online. I needed my hair bleached. First attempt at another salon months ago wasn't complete. The online selection for color says you have to have a free color consult first. So, I arrived and was quoted $130. I was in shock, but tried to not let it show. I agreed to the color and cut. Mind you my hair is in a short pixie already, and I thought $130 was way too much. I mentioned it and was told I was paying fir the process itself. Hmmm. Ok fine. Color was done. Looked great! Platinum blonde. However, while waiting for the blonde to process I decided on a pink swish across the front. I pulled up a pic from Pinterest and showed the hairstylist. He said ok and was excited. Didn't go well... I changed the color choice and showed him, but he out in the first color choice and it was more than a swoosh. Another hairstylist stepped in to help. He observed that there were missed spots for the blonde and corrected some of the cut. They also took out the hot pink and put in a paper pink. But here's where the real problem happened. When he removed the hot pink he toned my hair again because that spot was now a little gold. Well you may already know what happened. Overtone. Gray hair. He told me that he should out when I shampoo. I left thinking it's not that bad, and I'll just shampoo tomorrow. I got home and it stared looking darker gray. I panicked and called. He told me to shampoo in 24 hours and most should come out. Wait... most of all? He said it should come out when you shampoo. He said if it doesn't just call me back. Let me say this ... both hairstylists were extremely nice. But it hit me after I left when I noticed the darkening of the gray... You just paid $130 to complete your platinum blonde color on short hair that you had done in October and your hair is gray. Something about this doesn't make sense. And the fact that I have to correct it at home or come back. It's not close to where I live. Please make it make sense read more

I was Looking forward to getting a nice simple highlight, which normally takes about 1.5 hours with styling, and I was there for 4 hours...my hair in foils for almost 3 hours. I showed the stylist pictures of my own hair, and exactly what I wanted, and she kept seemed to understand, and continuously added foils for hours and hours. When I expressed concern for how long it was taking, she inquired how long it normally takes for me, and I told her that it usually i an in foils no longer than 40 minutes. It was incredibly uncomfortable, and I wondered out loud what foils were doing on my hair for 3 hours. I then went to the sink, where I sat with my head in toner, while she stood over me for a good 40 minutes picking through my hair. The big surprise was the grey/white streaks (like 80s frosting job), as the finished product. Horrendou. All I wanted to do was go to my car and cry. Imagine my surprise when I was told I was being charged $75 per hour that she spent on my hair, and not the approximate 115.00 for highlight. Never explained to me how I was going to be charged. my hair surprisingly didn't break off. You've lost my trust. read more
