Avoid like the plague. Found our door tagged with out of state phone numbers, 6 phone calls later finally had a call back from the out of state office stating they couldn't help track our delivery. Finally reached the Scarborough office and questioned the lack of coordination for the delivery. Blame placed on receiving incorrect phone number from shipper and would be unable to deliver because of the distance for another three weeks bringing our wait time to 8 weeks since we ordered this item from amazon (would have NEVER ordered if I knew it was not coming UPS). Contacted amazon and cancelled this FIASCO, next time we will request a pack donkey for delivery (much faster) and donkeys don't make excuses. read more

They sold me "a bill of goods." They dId not pack well and as a result, I have a ton of steaming to do. In addition, I have never in my moves and there are at least five with professional movers, have so many damaged pieces. They say they can manage pianos, they cannot. They misjudged the area and charged me extra to hire a shuttle truck, and to finish moving my piano. The owners son who "sells" you does not call you back, and leaves his staff to deal with what he should personally manage. Oh, I forgot, the broken legs on my antique pieces and the filth on my white wool carpet that should have been shrink wrapped. Totally inept! read more

I started using Bisson this year when my previous moving company was unable to move items into homes without marking up walls and being insanely unorganized/rude/condescending. It has been a month now and I am pretty content. I have worked with two different crews and both were on time and very careful with items and my clients' homes. The pricing is better than what I have been paying for the past 6 years, too. I am a little confused about all the reviews-there are almost 20 positive ones hidden by Yelp's algorithms. I know cross country moves are rough, and no company is perfect, but I have found that good communication, pricing, and good folks who care generally make for a pretty good moving experience. I deliver to clients several times per month so this is a pretty important professional service. read more

I have never before used social media to communicate my dissatisfaction with a service. The service I received from Bisson Moving and Storage screams to be told to protect others from a similar fate. On June 8, 2020, the crew arrived to do the first move in a two part process to relocated my residence and the remains of my business. They announced at the outset that they would not do any packing, they would only do the furniture and whatever boxes were already packed. And in fact they had no packing materials on the truck. No alternatives were offered as to how we might remedy the situation. Late morning, they packed a couple of boxes and announced that they were going to lunch and would meet me at my new home. This left nearly half the kitchen, all closets, all the lamps except the 2 they packed, and a few items in virtually every room. There were items affixed to the wall that could not be taken because "the drill is downstairs in the truck". The disregard that these men had for my personal possessions was best demonstrated when I found my handmade quilted jacket slung in the dirt exposed when they moved a hutch. Little did I know that things were about to get a whole lot worse than that. The unloading occurred, I was presented a bill for less than the estimate. Had they been willing to pack, the move could have been completed. During part 2 of the move, I learned that the reason they felt they needed more time was because of the way they insisted on handling the fabric. I indicated to the moving consultant that I wanted the fabric taken from the store shelves in my store, packed "as is" in the truck and then unloaded back onto the same shelves at the new location. I was assured that this could be done. There was a disconnect between what the moving consultant agreed to and what the crew was willing to do. I was told they knew the "right way" to do it. I have been in the fabric business for 26 years. I vended at a dozen shows a year at various New England locations, requiring me to pack and unpack hundreds of bolts of fabric. Never once did I see any of the 75 or so vendors that I worked with ever put a bolt of fabric in a box for transport....it is time consuming and inefficient. They packed the fabric in huge boxes weighing about 400 lbs, which now makes it inaccessible to me. So I paid to have the fabric packed to their specifications costing me about $1500 more than the estimated cost of the move. I still have to get the rest of the fabric out of the boxes and onto the shelves. Once I started opening boxes with the remaining stuff from my residential move, I realized that this nightmare was not over. It seems the movers were so angry that It seems the movers were so angry that I complained about their unwillingness to pack, they decided to use my clothing as packing materials for my kitchen supplies. They packed corduroy pants in with my spices and baking supplies. There were boxes with a couple of shirts with a pots and pans, a brand new jacket with my frypans, and several other boxes where my clothes were used to pack my kitchen. It should be noted that ALL of these clothes were on hangers in closets that were several rooms away from where the kitchen was being packed up. So it took some time and energy for the movers to take everything off hangers and ball it up to throw in with the kitchen items. It also made for about 15 loads of laundry as all of the clothes were wrinkled, soiled or both. To find one's personal belongings so flagrantly disregarded is such a an act of contempt. It is hard to believe that these grown men would think that bullying a 70 year old woman would make them feel better. I tried to work out some sort of agreement with Bisson. The moving coordinator apologized profusely and wanted to make this "right", asked me what I wanted as compensation. I asked for assurances that this would not happen to anyone else (the clothing issue) and $2500 to compensate for the extra costs incurred by them choosing their own method for moving the fabric. Had I known that they would not move fabric in they way that I wanted, I would have gone elsewhere for estimates.The general manager spoke with me on a couple of occasions. Even after talking to the movers, he did not dispute any of my claims. He offered me his apology and $700. This was not acceptable to me as nothing has been done to assure that others will not have the same experience that I had. I feel that I must let as many other people know that this is the kind of experience they could have with a move by Bisson. While I felt violated by what the movers did to my clothing, I am horrified to think that their mangers would not make reasonable attempts to make it right. Please beware! read more

Approximately 2 weeks ago, I called to make arrangements to have a visual evaluation conducted for a moving estimate (cross country move). The first call was amazing, the person helpful and I was confident that I had found a great company. The day the person was suppose to arrive at my home, I had not received any reminders or confirmations so I called Bisson. They stated that I was supposed to call them back to confirm and I never did. Strike one. The person on the phone created another appointment. The day before the appointment, I was advised that the person who conducts estimates was going to take a long weekend with his family and we had to reschedule. Yesterday I received a call (day of appt.) and the young lady asked if I could be home by 1:30. Our appointment was scheduled for 3pm. The guy conducting the visual estimate was in my area. I told her no as I was working and we agreed upon 3pm. Approximately 10 minutes later I received another call that the guy could not make my appointment at 3pm. At that point, I told her that we were DONE. Bisson, you just lost $3500 - $4000 for hiring the wrong people to handle phone calls, schedules and provide decent customer service. On top of that, I learned that I was given incorrect information on the first call. I do not like writing negative reviews and try to focus on the positive, but in this case, I can't. Moving is a stressful time in a person's life. Thanks for adding to the stress. read more

We used Bisson based on the recommendation of our designer. It was the most disappointing moving experience we have ever had. Items were not unpacked as previously confirmed the day before. Also, our new furniture was not properly put together, and we were left with a box of bolts and other furniture parts that were clearly supposed to be included and had not been. The worst part was the very unprofessional (and somewhat alarming) behavior of the crew. They refused to provide us with the paperwork on the day of the move, so we could verify that all items were accounted for. When we tried to raise concerns with the management, we were basically told we were not telling the truth. I agree with the other reviews. Great salespeople, but service and veracity is lacking. read more

I used Bisson for a local move (3 miles) and the cost came to over $9000. They quoted half that and didn't finish the job. Left random pieces of furniture, scratched the walls of my home, They said they were not going to have me sign the paperwork because they didn't finish the job then lied and said I REFUSED to sign the paperwork. They were supposed to move a piano and did not, costing me an extra $1200 with another moving company. I had to pay for a U-Haul and 2 storage units to move the items they left behind and they now won't deliver my stuff until they get FULL PAYMENT. I will NEVER use BIsson again and I will make it my mission to tell everyone I know to stay away from them. It's quite a racket they have. read more

I had an amazing experience with Bisson! On short notice they offered to help my husband move a large piece we'd just purchased. Unbeknownst to me, the person who showed up was the owner! (All his crews were out working and he wanted to help me out.) He and my husband worked hard but were able to get the 83" tall and over 162 lb cabinet up the stairs, and around, the corner. They ducked it under the door and placed it perfectly into the room. This was amazing example of superior customer service! I'm so impressed and almost hope I move so I can hire them and payback the favor! Thank you, Bisson, thank you! read more

One of the worst moving experiences ever. We had a 2-part move (moving out of 1 location, storing our property for a few weeks, and then moving into another location). 1. move #1 -- almost comical except we had to pay for it. one guy walked around and talked the whole time, while his partner did all the work. the talkative fellow was interested in the design aesthetic of the house and included his comments in his dialogue. when asked, when they would be done, all of a sudden mr. chatty clammed up and responded, "we're done when we're done". needless to say, we had a confirmed price over the phone, and of course the price in the end was nothing close to that. 2. move #2 -- 3 young guys -- to be fair, all very enthusiastic and professional. no complaint about them. 3. damage -- we took out an insurance policy -- the minimum deductible was $250. an item was not just broken, but crushed. it's value was less than $250, so we ate that one. we understood that there was a deductible, but after appealing to the head office, complaining about the overcharging of the 1st move, and the poor service, we assumed they'd make an exception and cut us a break. they instructed us to put our claim in writing -- which we did -- and then we received a letter in the mail from them saying our claim was subject to $250 deductible, so we were out of luck; you'd think that they'd just say that over the phone without the need for us to spend more of our time & $ on this matter with a predictable outcome. 4. quote -- we received a quote over phone. and as mentioned earlier, they missed that by a long shot. it took numerous calls to get some (but not complete) resolution. in the end, we paid more than they quoted. basically, DON'T use this vendor. we are communicating this to our colleagues in the real estate business. if for whatever reason you do end up using them, GET THE QUOTE IN WRITING. but even so, you'll be fighting with them in the end. read more

Bisson changed a stressful move into a HORROR! Bobby Cooper was the only one who gave us any confidence, but unfortunately he is the salesman. Our move was interstate with most things going into storage for several months. The move cost us about $15,000. What we experienced was severe damage to one important piece of furniture, a good lamp crushed, breakage of a number of items, and the total disappearamce of a number of things. We had Bisson do a lot of the packing but I wish we had not. The four packers were at our house 2.5 days and we could not supervise them all. In spite of our labeling things which were not to go to storage, things went into storage which should not have (including a 5 pound bag of onions which rotted) and things were later delivered to us which were meant to be in storage. Loading a custom built armoire into their truck they totally ripped off and smashed the crown molding which has cost us $500 to repair. They put a good lamp in a box without padding and crushed the base. All of my husband's suits, good slacks, and sport jackets were dumped in a box (not a wardrobe box) and things were thrown in on top. After four months in storage, the clothes all needed a trip to the cleaners. Boxes they packed were incorrectly labelled, for example a box marked "very fragile" contained a plastic laundry basket while some good china was not even marked fragile. When things finally were delivered from storage, the crew was incompetent. Boxes were placed in the wrong rooms in spite of labeling so unpacking for us was a nightmare. They damaged some freshly painted walls and would have smashed a light fixture had I not screamed. I had tried to protect an expensive new king size Tempurpedic mattress with an old sheet but they insisted that it would be carefully wrapped. It was, BUT the day they moved us in, that mattress sat unwrapped on our driveway for hours and when it came into the house had dirt stains on it which I have not been totally able to remove. As we finished our unpacking we realized that a number of things were missing. A kitchen box never showed up which contained all kinds of kitchen tools. A collection of large yard items also disappeared. We called Bisson repeatedly and they said they could not locate our missing items. When we complained about damages, they told us to fill out a claim form which we refused to do because our issues were their incompetence not normal breakage. We were referred to their "Quality" manager who called several times then went on vacation a couple of months ago and we have not heard from him since. We protested part of their bill with our credit card company so have recovered some money, although I think we have lost more than that. I would NEVER use or recommend these movers!! read more

I can't recommend Bisson enough for a local move. I used them to get a bunch of belongs from a storage unit in Westbrook to an apartment in Portland. They were on time, really fast, and extremely friendly. They brought everything in the unit in perfect condition, even though my own packaging of it left something to be desired. Came in below estimate, too! Everyone on the team was very responsive and helpful through the process. I would definitely suggest using Bisson for moving! read more

The Bisson movers were extremely hard working, polite, and careful with my belongings. They were a pleasure to be around. Bisson is an Atlas hauler, I booked thru Atlas, pickup by Ace of Maryland and they were ok, then my goods were transferred to Bisson for the haul to Florida. on June 15 Atlas estimated pickup of 6/24 and this was true, then my goods were transferred to Bisson with an estimated delivery date of July 2, 2014. I kept calling Atlas checking on the progress and then on July 1, Atlas said the new delivery date was July 8. I had prior arrangements to be in New York on that week and as a result my goods went into storage and the Bisson driver insisted because it was into storage I had to pay an $200 fee per their contract. Yep their fault they are late and I had to pay more, I called the driver on 7/8/14 and he never returned my call. Totally unreliable and unprofessional DO NOT USE read more

We had an awful moving experience with Bisson Moving & Storage and Atlas Van Lines. The people at Bisson were pleasant to deal with and offered to help us when we had questions about filing a claim and the status of our claim. This may not be the appropriate place to leave our review as most of our complaints are with Atlas Van Lines, but Bisson utilizes their services and we will never work with Bisson again as long as that is the case. Atlas Van Lines is an entirely awful company to deal with. During the packing and/or transit process of moving our belongings north a few states, the crew managed to completely damage a crockpot and multiple glasses and a bag with electronics inside somehow went missing. The company refuses to pay for the missing items because "the driver doesn't remember seeing the bag" and it was not noticed at the time of delivery. That is nonsense because we had three crew members in our apartment on the day our belongings were packed--one was packing the kitchen, another was packing our living room and the driver was taking inventory. He was in our bedroom away from everyone when the crew members were packing our living room which is where our missing belongings were. I could describe to the company exactly where the bag of electronics were at the time and how if it was packed like it should have been (or even at all), there is no reason why it would disappear. We had to open all of the boxes and check our items before submitting the claim--they apparently expected that to be done when the crew was in our new apartment delivering our boxes. Some of our belongings were broken and some were stolen. The company had very poor communication with us and just sent a check in the mail for the broken items hoping to get rid of us. Their explanation for why they will not respond to the rest of our claim (for the missing items) is beyond ridiculous and I refuse to accept this treatment. I highly recommend staying away from Bisson Moving & Storage as long as they have a working agreement with Atlas Van Lines. Also, we were charged almost $1000 more than the estimate because the driver needed to transfer our belongings to a different vehicle to fit in our apartment complex. Apparently he knew this before packing our things and putting them in the massive tractor trailer, but forgot to mention that we would be charged for this. This should not have been our responsibility and the way the company went about it was very shady--we just moved and we did not have extra money like that lying around but they take advantage of you every way they can and this is another reason why we will NEVER use this company again. read more

Boppy walked into our home looking professional and sold us a bill of goods that was false. Worst moving experience... Did not follow through on what they were supposed to do... Overcharged us for things... And finally took forever to get our things to us. Bobby never said that they might have a problem finding someone to haul are goods but they had problems arranging Delivery so we were without our household items for an extra two weeks. I actually spoke to Darren, the GM, and he first told me he had spoken to Bobby But then couldn't remember the information he supposedly got from Bobby, leading me to believe he had never actually made the phone call. The driver who delivered our items was great, Jeff, but even though our apartment building said they had Frequently had semi's drive into and unpack in the alley, Jeff was not able to get his truck back there so Bisson charged us extra for unloading on to another truck. They should've had this established before they arrived. Things were broken, not packed correctly, or boxes were smashed. Bobby has refused to return my husbands calls and therefore we are filing a claim against them with our credit card company. We have moved several times in the last few years so we are well aware of how the process works. Working with Bisson was by far the worst experience we have had and I would never never use them again nor recommend them! read more

Bisson moved us in 2017. On the load, they forgot several items and had to come back. The delivery was a complete cluster F*****. First, after notifying them they could not get a semi truck up our narrow drive, they came in one, at 4Pm in the afternoon. Too late to unload. My wife wasted a day off. I was left alone the following day to count pieces coming off the truck and directing them to the proper room. They came back the next day with a straight truck and had to unload the semi onto the straight truck. Double handling. Almost immediately the damages start coming off. at the end, the obvious missing items; patio furniture, 3 bicycles. I demanded a inventory and many boxes are missing. Then corporate accuses me of not counting! The driver then lets me know that my belongings had been moved from one warehouse to another while in storage (double handling again) without our knowledge. After the unload, Bisson is cleared of any further responsibility and I am left to take my claim up with corporate. They were less than cordial. read more
