My friends and I love going to Bistango when I'm in town! We've been coming here for years because it's just that good! They have a large selection of martinis as well as other sophisticated alcoholic beverages. Prices are reasonable...most martinis are roughly $9 and made with Grey Goose! My favorites are the key lime and creamsicle! My friend enjoys a cookie dough and the red velvet cake! This martini bar is a definite stop on your list if you're a fan of martinis! The ambiance also adds to the evening of drinks. Think dim lights, mini white lights on the ceiling, and lit candles on the tables! I wish there were more Bistango's around! read more

It was Friday night date night and ended up strolling into Bistango accidentally. Happy hour had just ended and was cleared out so we got a spot right at the bar. We ordered a few different martinis and they were all great. I don't remember what they were called but I know we enjoyed them. The meatballs and egg appetizer was recommended by the bartender and he didn't disappoint. I come back here strictly for this appetizer, it's damn good. I am not sure if it because I'm always a few drinks in when I come but it's so yummy. It's Seasoned Italian sausage and meat balls, homemade zesty sauce, over easy egg topped with parmesan cheese. I love a good happy hour bar and this place fit the bill. We wouldn't have noticed the place if not for the sign out front specifying their happy hour specials. The place was a little dark and intimate for a Friday afternoon at 5. But we were seated right away and told of the different drinks. My husband had a Blue Moon with an orange for $3 and I had a "house" Cabernet from Patterson, WA for $5. It was pretty good. We were going to order food that looked awesome from the happy hour menu, but ran out of time. We will plan better next time. read more

Disappointing. Bartender made a Tom Collins with Sprite. Something I would expect in a dingy tavern not a Martini Bar. We were there during happy hour but I didn't get any kind of a HH discount. To add insult to injury, I ordered a Manhattan and agreed to the bartenders suggestion to use Bulleit bourbon. That's not even a top-shelf bourbon. I found out afterwards the well was Dickel which would have been fine. $4 upcharge to listen to the inexperienced bartender. Why have happy hour if you are going to "upsell" your customers to a no discount swill? Kind of smarmy and a bit of a rip off. They used to have better bartenders. Comment to Bistango's response: Your response is so predicable. Attack your customers personally if they share an unpleasant experience at your little bar. I see that you do that frequently with other customers. You should review your video. Your bartender did use Sprite and a lime garnish for a Tom Collins. I shouldn't have to explain to your staff how to make a classic cocktail. As for frequenting your bar, I can assure you that will never happen again. Your snarky response guaranteed that. BTW, Bulleit Bourbon is actually just Ancient Age in a different bottle. But you probably think that's a premium liquor as well. Sad. read more

Wow! This place not only knows how to make an amazing martini, they also know how to do food up right! Recomendation: Steak Bites! I can't really recommend a drink because that's all in the palate, what I will say is you can't go wrong with their in house, home make manhattan, and also their Key Lime Pie Martini... well it's the best ever! The bartender Ryan, provided amazing service, even when the bar was super full at 5:00 rush hour. First, take a look at who has given Bistango four and five stars. Few of them are actually from Spokane. Take the hint. The same kinds of people that call Spokane a "meth capital" and "trashy" are the kinds of people that enjoy places like Bistango, an overpriced martini bar that is trying far too hard to pretend that it is not "part of Spokane." The beauty of the Lilac City is the fact that there are so many mainstay establishments that "are what they are." Bistango pretends to be high society (yes, in Spokane). Alright, off my soapbox for a minute, let's talk drinks. The martinis are Bistango are equally highfalutin. They are overpriced and over-sweet. I did not order a martini so that I could suck on a lollipop. I want the GIN. When you walk in, you will remember this review and think: wow, he is a genius. If you are the frat boy type trying to get laid by your oh-so typical 20-something girlfriend (boots, leather coach purse, and too much makeup/perfume), then enjoy because you will definitely fit in here. If your girlfriend has any taste and personality (and brains for that matter), bring her somewhere fun. This place is not "slightly more refined" as has been noted. There is a stripper pole in the bar. If you want to be a real Spokaloo, grab a Martini at Europa or head over to the Davenport's Peacock Lounge. read more

I was confused by Bistango. The drink menu featured 2 drinks that sounded somewhat tasty, then about 40 that can be categorized as sweet, sweeter, super sweet with caffeine, insanely sweet, disgustingly sweet, and alcoholic sugar. The lounge had a generally nice and attractive set up, smelled of the clientele's abusive fragrance usage, and was bumping... (is it really... yes it is) Guns and Roses music videos. Maybe I arrived on an unadvertised irony night, but it all just seemed a bit strange. I love an excellently crafted cocktail, but this place seemed to simply rely on combining overly sweet liqueurs to make drinks that taste nothing like alcohol. Drinking a dessert and watching bad music videos isn't really my cup of booze, but if it's what you're looking for, then enjoy the drunk diabetes for me. Cheers. read more

I love Spokane's Downtown and Bistango definitely serves a purpose but its not my kind of place. Located within a stones throw from the Davenport Hotel, Bistango is a high end Martini and cocktail lounge with a very cool interior. They used alot of materials in a very creative manner and many Spokanites like the contemporary lounge atmosphere. However, a few things are just a little too much even for the Spokane Downtown Renaissance that I so actively support and enjoy: 1. The crowd tends to be the 35+ set that watched a few too many episodes of 'Sex and the City' and wants to pretend they live in New York. Unfortunately, they think this means that they are supposed to take themselves too seriously and should act rude and arrogant. Spokane is getting better but lets not try to act like something we are not . 2. Bistango periodically has a fully clothed "Go Go" Dancer (what do you call a dancer on a platform who wears clothes?) on a 3'x3' platform situated at the side of the bar. She dances really slowly regardless of what music is on and it almost looks like she is doing tai chi or stretching. I don't know what is wrong with this but it makes me uncomfortable. 3. I once saw a bouncer on a Friday dressed in all black wearing an earpiece. Honestly, who is this guy talking to? This may have been a one time thing but it has stuck in my memory Basically, the place is sort of like a 'retirement home' bar for those who think they are cool or perhaps were cool at some point in the distant past. The interior is worth going in and ordering a drink and the bartenders are very good. Also, it serves a purpose in Spokane (albeit an awkward purpose) so it is a nice compliment to the Downtown Core.......just not a cool one. read more

I do like Bistango. The bar is beautiful and drinks are great. I usually order the Mexico Martini, which is tart with cilantro (something quite unique to anything I've found in Spokane). They sometimes have a Go-Go dancer who provided us great conversation but wasn't anything what I would call great dancing. I much prefer the piano player. My only complaint is that it is a small space and it fills up. It's often difficult to find a seat, especially if you have more than two people with you. This has caused us to share a table with strangers several times, which can be fun but sometimes we'll want to socialize more privately. I do have to say that the people that frequent Bistango are usually wealthy and some are even well known in Spokane. In my many trips here I've met some multi-miliion dollar business owners (yes, you would know their names). As a middle class girl who sometimes enjoys Mootsy's as much as a swanky bar, I sometimes feel like I don't belong here. All in all, it's a great place to grab a drink. We usually stop in if it's not too busy...if not, we'll head to Cavillino Lounge up the street. read more

Being part of the 35+ club... though just barely... my experience at Bistango is a little different than my new friend's. While Mike edged me out of the first review, he makes a few good points. There are some people there that take themselves too seriously. However, we can find those people most anywhere. I've found they make for fun conversation, and rarely do they impact my experience in a negative way. As for the bouncer - my only thought there is the common ownership with Niko's across the street and the need for shared services. Bistango is a great gathering place for nights when you don't want too loud of music or too tight of quarters. The decor is fabulous, the wait staff is usually pretty good, and they have a vast martini menu for those that like that. It is the kind of place that someone from New York or Seattle or San Francisco could walk into and feel at home. OK, Spokanites are still a bit more laid back than these larger cities, and the prices are a bit lower than what I see at similar establishments when I travel. But this is the kind of lounge atmosphere that Spokane needs if it is going to continue to grow, attract visitors, and lure major events (such as the US Figure Skating National Championship). If you've not yet been to Bistango you simply have to try it at least once. It may not be your cup of tea, but I doubt you'll regret your visit. read more

As Darin P. said, I am from Santa Barbara and Bistango is the first place in Spokane I entered and let out a sigh of relief. It is simply beautiful. It has nice lounging areas and an extnsive cocktail list. Not only do they have an extensive list, but the drinks are actually good. It is a little pricey for Spokane, but compared to other areas in its caliber this place is a deal. I've paid 15 to 30 dollars for a cocktail in the same environment as Bistango. This is what I expected from the Davenport. Too bad its still a little too 'stuffy' or chic for Spokane. I'm 23 and am very comfortable here. One of the stops on my birthday night out. This is a small and intimate sort of bar, trendy and upscale feel with really good martinis. When we got here, I was pretty trashed. The last thing I wanted was another drink. That said, the server was really good at giving me water every time I asked for some. The place was packed, and he never faltered to hook me up with some agua. I had a sip of a friend's chocolate martini, absolutely delish! It made me forget that liquor was making me ill. The crowd is a bit older, not too many peeps my age there. I had to keep a friend from making nice with some older ladies that were oh so willing to entertain some young blood. My experience was very different then most of the Yelpers here. We went with some friends (party of 6) and we were the only 35+ people in the very crowded and small bar. The drinks were good, the atmosphere was trendy and modern, what we refer to as mega cruise-shippy-ness (always trying to one-up the last mega ship). The drinks were good, the small plate food was just average. Perhaps we were all looking for a more refined atmosphere, or maybe we wanted to feel that we weren't sardines or perhaps it was the fact we were surrounded by mostly under 25 year olds that were there to get drunk rather then enjoy socializing but Bistango just didn't do it for us. QUESTION: Why oh why was there a go-go dancer there???? She just didn't fit in at all. Anyhow, we had our drinks ate the small plates and headed off to another to do our socializing. Bistango serves it purpose in Spokane, that's why I gave it 4 starts, but it is not a refined place, instead it is the new in place where one goes to be seen and to brag to their friends they were there last night. read more

As someone slightly more refined than your average Spokie, I enjoyed Bistango a great deal. For me, part of the appeal was the aesthetically pleasing interior (including the lighting, water sculptures, etc.), along with the general feel of the place. Yes, it was small, but that was part of its charm. IMO, if you moved Bistango from Spokane and placed it in New York or Chicago, it would blend in seamlessly with the other bars off of Hubbard St. (in Chicago), or in the West Village (NYC). For the most part, the drinks were above average. Outside of Miami, I have not been able to find a better mojito. While the Bistango mojito is $11 dollars, two could probably last the average social drinker the entire evening. The dessert drinks, especially the Godiva chocolate martini and key lime pie martini, are also decent. So, why not 5 stars? First, on crowded evenings, it can take forever for someone to take your order. Oftentimes, there are not any drink menus at the table. I cannot tell you how many times I had to go up to the bar and ask for menus. Also, I agree with those who said the go go dancer doesn't jive with the bar. Jazz yes, but go go dancers?!?! Not so much. Overall, if you can find a place to sit, I would highly recommend Bistango on a night when there are no go go dancers. read more

Wow, I was surprised by the negative reviews. Thought we would stop by as a Twigs alternative the other night. We walked in at about 8-9PM on a Saturday night and found a nice table with seats for the 4 of us to sit down. The atmosphere had a nice upscale vibe, but you could certainly sit in jeans and a tee and feel good about being there. The waitress gave us menus and they do have as expected a huge selection of different martinis. Yes, there were some very sweet ones on the menu, but I don't really feel like you must have a sweet drink if you wanted a more traditional martini. In fact my mango mojito was the best I have ever had, and I enjoyed the chocolate fire martini, and several others ordered by the group. As noted, the waitress was awesome and she always made sure we had drinks and was on top of all her tables. The music was ok, as they seemed to run live concerts on the screens. I would have liked alittle more variety than a whole Kings of Leon Concert....but I did like the Queen one. It just gets tough if you don't like the concert they are showing. There is no other place in Spokane as good as Bistango. I am going that far. Cozy, great staff, and good drinks/food. Ryan is amazing. Dishes out great drinks and if you're anybody in the area, you are most definitely at Bistango. Reema is a class act and a lovely person. Clearly cares about her customers and the product she serves. Depends on the night, but go to steak night. Tastes better than Mastro's and the drinks are better...and if you don't know Mastro's, the nearest location is 1000 miles away. I grew up in Spokane back in the days when there wasn't anything in downtown Spokane except for a bunch of empty buildings. I recently took a trip back, stayed at the Davenport, and drank at Bistango. I have to say I was impressed. Ignoring the fact that they only had about 6 menus for the whole bar, the martini selection was great. My date and I sat for quite a while working our way through a variety of martinis. Some of them were not my style, some had a little too much sugar, and some had just the right amount of whip cream. The waiter was cool and since they were slow that night, we chatted with him about the transforming of downtown Spokane. We hosted my wife's 40th birthday party at Bistango. In short it was fantastic. The extensive drink menu had great options for all 25 guests to enjoy. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was perfect for my wife's Mad Men theme. The wait staff was awesome....attentive, accurate, and really nice. Planning the event was also so easy. Our Bikes and Brews Crew had ridden over on our bicycles on the Centennial Trail from Post Falls and Hayden Lake Idaho and we were spending the evening in Spokane before heading back home on Sunday. We had been walking around downtown trying to find somewhere that didn't involve the "puker" 20 something crowd when someone in the group suggested going here. Great martini selection the wide variety does not take away from the craftsmanship the bartender puts into every drink. The food is a great selection. It's not your typical bar food which is a nice change. Their antipasto platter is absolutely one of the best I had in a while. Just thinking about it makes hungry. I had their Reems Drop with strawberry which was good and my second was a grapefruit cocktail not on the menu the bartender suggested it.
