I've given Bistango multiple chances over the years because I enjoy the atmosphere and want to support local Spokane businesses, but unfortunately the customer service has been consistently disappointing. Most recently, on a Friday evening around 7 PM, my party was seated near the end of the bar by the restroom area. A server approached me in a confrontational manner and told me to move my chair because it was blocking the walkway. I immediately complied and moved it where he directed. Despite that, he repeatedly pushed and squeezed past the chair in an aggressive way several times afterward and then returned to confront me about it again. The interaction felt hostile, unnecessary, and unprofessional. Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated incident. On a previous visit, a female server was rude and controlling toward our table, and on another occasion when we were unhappy with a menu item, the response was essentially, "You ordered it, you pay for it," with no attempt to address the concern professionally. The atmosphere is great, which is why we've continued to come back. However, after several visits involving rude and confrontational interactions with staff, it feels more like an ongoing culture issue than a one-time bad experience. I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect basic courtesy and respect. Hopefully management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve the customer experience. read more

Came here for a nice date night. The place was packed. We were seated in the back, and then told we might have to move if a large group came in. No sooner than we got our cocktails, and started sipping, we were asked to move. Seating is very tight . We ordered two fish and chips and only one order came out. The server, Jacob, went to drop another order, but my husband said no. Wasn't a fan of the fish and chips. They were wide as fish sticks, fries were cold. Music was video Muzak on their TV's, some howling guy on a guitar. I'll have to say the drinks were absolutely fantastic, made very well. I will give grace that it is the holiday weekend. If you are in Spokane and like martinis, this is definitely the place for you. It is an elegant space with fantastic martinis and good food. The food in particular was a pleasant surprise, as it was clearly made to order and went far beyond typical bar food. I arrived after happy hour but prices were still reasonable, especially for being in such a prime location downtown. The service was very kind and attentive. As soon as I opened the menu and saw that they had a huckleberry martini, my decision was made. I live in Colorado, which does not have huckleberries, so I absolutely love anything huckleberry-related whenever I'm in the PNW. It was an absolutely delicious drink that I have literally dreamed about since visiting Bistango. Based on the huckleberry martini, I have no doubt that their other drinks are great as well! read more

We had a group of 8 people at this establishment. Each of us had 1 drink. We asked the bartender to split the tab. To help him, we wrote our drinks down to make his job easier to split the tab. His response was "we are all close to the same age and we all have Venmo". He was implying that we just pay 1 tab so he didn't have to do his job. He complained to us about splitting a tab. My favorite is their vodka dirty martini, they'll make it as dirty as you like! Ask them to add some bleu cheese olives...delicious. We set Bistango as our meeting place at 5 on a workday - it was perfect. Not crowded like many places downtown, with a good happy hour until 6 and a nice variety of happy hour small plates and dinner if we wanted. I absolutely loved this little spot. Seriously the vibes are so goood on a Friday night for happy hour right after the work week has ended. I met up with an old roommate and it was perfect. Sitting under the twinkle of their ceiling (yes my very favorite part) and reminiscing college days over some incredible huckleberry martinis was just what we needed. Our server was so great - since I posted on Instagram that there was a 20% off check in offer the swarms of my people ended up coming and going to our table for a mere three hours. Yes - I enjoy having all my friends come through my table in a restaurant because of Instagram. Happy hour included some absolutely incredible clam steak calamari - probably my favorite calamari ever. The steak bites and sauce were really great too. I was not a fan of either of the tacos but not everything can always be perfect right. I just didn't love the tortillas but emptying the tacos onto your plate into a salad was just fine with me. I ordered a simple greyhound with kettle one. They served me spoiled grapefruit juice with kettle one. Even the color was off, after a few sips I could not stomach it. As soon as we walked in I knew we would like this place. It's very dark with the only lighting coming from low lit sconces on the bar, candles on the tables, and a backlit bar. Fantastic ambience! We ordered the Basil Gimlet and the Jalapeño citrus. Both were outstanding. Stopped in the other night with several friends after a movie about 10PM. A couple of patrons were seated at the bar and a couple more at the tables when we arrived. After us more patrons arrived. Kind of busy for a late weeknight. We all ordered different mixed drinks. Took a while and looking around noticed only one person working the bar and serving the tables. I think the all alone bartender/server was overwhelmed as more patrons kept arriving might be the reason there were several grumbles about our drinks in our group. My Martini was weak and mixed incorrectly. I drink Martinis, what better place than a 'Martini Lounge' to have a great Martini? Wrong! It was the worst Martini I ever had in Spokane. Had a fantastic Thursday evening experience. This was the best thing we did in Spokane, actually! First, a shout out to Ryan the bartender. As mentioned in other online reviews, he is friendly and a superb mixologist. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the bar and chatting with him and watching him. His drinks were fantastic. His Bloody Mary is well worth trying if you like them; his may be my favorite ever. We also tried his special fruit punch - only served seasonally (Memorial Day through Labor Day). Off the hook! Even if you don't want cocktails, the food is well worth going for on its own. Made to order, fresh, very reasonably priced. Kudos to the chef!! We had some small plates: fish tacos, skewers, prawn cocktail, sesame ahi - everything was excellent! Live music, too! The guitarist/singer was a one man act, played a wide range of "adult" rock, and was really friendly. Wasn't so loud that we couldn't have a conversation and we were sitting close.
