I had worried over how multiple dietary restrictions would be received in a city not as touristy and large as Florence, but the owner (I assume) did not make me feel like I was asking for too much, not at all. He boasted that they offered the best gf pasta and that they would make me something that I could both feel safe with and enjoy. And I did, on both counts. We tolerate her we requested it be brought out with the main disk. She refused to take it back and said the kitchen got mixed up with the bar. By the third we received our meal, the cold beer was hot. My wife had ravioli which was very good! I had a pizza with ham, which was mediocre at best. Could have used much more sauce, in fact the ravioli sauce would have made it 100% better. I definitely wouldn't choose this restaurant again!! Keep in mind we are American Italian. And so European food is very different in general. You have to have an open mind that it is not going to be like what you're used to. I got the risotto With Chianti wine and it was truly delicious. Although the rice was a little bit al dente for me. The bread was amazing. The olive oil was absolutely top shelf. Made in Luca. They gave us these little pizza bites. That were also actually amazing. The sauce on the pizza bites were fantastic. I think the biggest thing was that I thought I had made a reservation for 8 o'clock. But apparently it was for the next night!! And they squeezed us in anyway! Then I forgot to take pictures as I always do because I'm too busy sticking my face in my food. So I only have pictures of the bread and the pizza bites lol. We got a very interesting dessert that was made in a meringue shell with tart cherries and chocolate and cream, and it was truly a delight. It was very small, but it was all you needed. This is a beautiful place tucked back in a corner of the old town inside the walls. The outside area was cool and shaded for a lunch meal, and quiet and peaceful in the evening. The staff is helpful; we left wine choice to them and were not disappointed! The millefoglie melanzana raises eggplant to a whole new level. My adult daughter at home picks the mushrooms out of everything; here she devoured the tagliatelle con funghi with relish. It's rare for me to leave five star reviews, but All'Olivo earns it!
