The pasta Gigi and the meat pizza
    Karen C.

SO DELICIOUS! We ordered the fried calamari, which was cooked perfectly, and I also had the best mojito of my life. Yes I know mojitos and calamari are generally not paired... Dinner was fresh and satisfying without being too heavy, with decent sized portions. The meat pizza was absolutely incredible, and the pasta gigi was done very well. I would absolutely recommend this spot, it was reasonably priced, had friendly service, and all of the food was spot on.

The little gnocchi were appropriately textured, with a nice pesto sauce to go along. It was filling without being overbearing. The lemon flavor in the gnocchi was a brilliant addition. The salad mentonnaise used really fresh radicchio and pine nuts. The orange vinaigrette gave the salad a really nice touch. The Dijon leek emulsion for the leeks vinaigrette was really neat, and helped give the braised leeks a lot of charcacter. The

I chose the French onion soup and salmon entree, my mom went with the escargot to start and the pork chop for her main. The soup was so rich and delicious, my mom loved the snails. The salmon was cooked perfectly and my mom also enjoyed her pork chop. We also ordered a side of Brussels sprouts which were super tasty too. The portions were surprisingly large so we couldn't finish everything. They had asked us to switch tables partway through dining to accompany a larger party, which was fine for us and they offered us a complimentary dessert for the trouble. Since we were stuffed, we took the dessert to go. It was a deconstructed dulce de leche cheesecake and it was rich and so tasty. Would definitely return!

We tried: - complimentary bread, butter, pickles, mustard. I loved this. Never saw another restaurant plop down mustard and pickles. The mustard was also possibly the most delicious mustard I've ever had. Very spicy and slightly salty - Duck confit on beans $37. Tasty, crispy, rich. - Grilled octopus on pepper sauce with potatos $24. Really tender and flavourful. The sauce was bright and acidic - Sorrel soup $13.75. First time having sorrel. It has a slightly sour taste. The soup was creamy and tangy. I'm glad we tried it - Quail with quail eggs on purple rice $37.50. Quail itself wasn't as flavourful but the sauce was amazing and soaked into the rice - Creme brulee $15. Flavour was impeccable. Had a slight grainy texture which was odd but this is just nit picking. Comes with a warm cookie Everything was good. I'm being more nitpicky here than usual, mostly to go back to these notes again in the future. I loved the meal and would definitely go back. Service is very friendly. Food came out super fast. The restaurant is bright and lively. Tables are quite cramped together but it makes sense as they quickly filled up for the evening. Thanks, we'll definitely be back!

Server was nice even though at some point he was just standing there and we were waiting for him to come back to order dessert to the point where u actually had to call him but this was nothing truly. Lamb with sweet garlic sauce Filet mignon with five peppercorn and cognac sauce Key lime pie The meat was great, truly. The sauces? a total disgrace / turn off considering the price of each plate. Sweet garlic, had nothing I could say I feel the garlic in at all. Flavorless. Five pepercorn with cognac non existent ! The only time i taste the peppercorn was if I BIT the actual peppercorn. The dessert ? I ate 2 bites and left the entire thing. The "crust" was nowhere to be found it was watered down carton... and the lime layer felt like I was biting into fake jelly. I have nothing else to say but you can decide how you spend your money. The "fancy" restaurant leaves a lot to desire.

I was staying in Downtown Montreal, and since I…read morehad made plans to visit the Museum of Fine Arts later that day, I wanted to grab something to eat within walking distance. After comparing a few places, I ultimately landed on this spot - I was able to make a last-minute reservation so we headed over to check it out. Le 9E is somewhat hard to find if you don't know it exists. It sits on the 9th floor of a building in the Downtown area, with little to no signage indicating where it is. Once we got off the elevator, though, we were greeted with aesthetics. The space is large and open, with high ceilings, large windows, and a bar in the center of the room that serves as a focal point. I was a fan of the art deco decor, and the soft music playing in the background tied it all together. The breakfast menu had a good variety of items without being overwhelming. It definitely leaned more towards classic dishes with nothing too out of the ordinary. They started us with some complimentary canary melon which was sweet and juicy mmm. For my actual breakfast, I went with the pancake and a side of sausage (because protein). The pancake was much grander than I expected; it was a single cake that was topped with butter, fruit compote, powdered sugar, and maple syrup. This really exceeded my expectations - the cake was huge and super thick with the perfect amount of components; it was definitely a more cakey pancake if that makes sense. The sausage was good as well, it was stuffed with cheese which complemented the sausage meat well. Service was great, our waiter was attentive but not all over us which I appreciated. Overall, I thought Le 9E was a good find; I'm not running back though, as I would like to try other breakfast spots in the city first, but regardless you'll get a solid meal here with great aesthetics.

We visited at lunch. Three of us shared an amazing butter lettuce salad with finely shredded mimolette cheese that was divine. I ordered the French omelette, which was divine. My new favorite seafood restaurant in Montreal…read more.. we met up at 6pm on friday night, during happy hour. The happy hour specials are one dollar oysters and ten dollars for cocktails. It is very satisfying. One caveat though, the oysters tend to have shell bits in them so be careful. I ordered the risotto as my appetizer even though it was listed as a main. My main dish was octopus. The risotto was perfect, the rice was just right, mussels, tiger shrimps, calamari and lobster tail. it was well proportioned, you could have seafood in every bite until the last bit of rice, just perfect. The octopus, came with onions, capers and olives, not my favorite combo but I did enjoy the tanginess at the end, it did grow on me. Dessert was lava cake with ice cream. We asked to have it with ice cream and it was amazing. Already planning my return...

Always get excited when a new restaurant opens its doors but was very disappointed by this place…read more There's was nothing exciting about this place decor wise or even food wise. First when I had to reserve at this place they wanted credit card information which is fine because some restaurants do that nowadays but what I didn't like was that the cancelation should be done minimum 2 days in advance if not they charge you 25$ for each person, I find that ridiculous because last minute emergency do tend to happen sometimes. Second when we got there the hostess asked us if she could seat us at the bar saying that the bar is beautiful and all. The brings us to the bar section upstairs and seats us at a tiny little bar which seats 4 ppl(nothing amazing)... The 2 other ppl that were already seated at the bar had taken 1/3 of the space leaving us a very tight area to sit and we were not comfortable sitting there. We asked to be seated elsewhere, the place looked packed but there was a table available on the floor but they told us that the only other table they had for us was a table downstairs, we agreed because we didn't really mind where to seat as long as we had more space to breath. Also something that we didn't like was that the bartender asked us if we only speak English, so we weren't quite sure why he did that remark because he was able to converse with us. When we went downstairs we realized that our table was next to the open kitchen and also we were the only ppl from the restaurant that were seated there. Which we found really odd and felt like the outcast of the restaurant. We didn't want to complain to much because we always try to give the benefit of a doubt especially when it comes to new restos. I have this place a 3 star because of the drinks, they were very well made. I definitely recommend to get the east and ivy if you like lychee and also the guilt and ginger if you like ginger. For food we got the oysters, these were really good and opened by a girl just next to entrance by order. The oysters were fresh and I love the dill mignonette, which was different then other places. For mains we got the mussel and fries. Which was okay eatable, nothing amazing. We got the new York strip and asked for medium rare but the steak came medium. The pepper sauce was too thick to my liking. We also got a side of onion rings and mushrooms, the mushrooms were good, the batter of the onion rings were have any flavor and it was bland. The waitress was nice but not really attentive, like I said before we got seated alone downstairs and we were isolated from everyone so I'm guessing she wasn't really reminding herself to come check up on us more frequently I guess. The food was average nothing spectacular about the food here. Also we didn't really like the atmosphere. I don't know if we just went on a wrong day or this place is always like this. Overall it seems like this place is good for big groups and I also heard that this place is considered a superclub. The music we were hearing was mostly techno. I give them the benefit of doubt of they moving us to a bigger space and also the men that moved us I think it was the owner checked on us twice to see if we were okay which we appreciated. Personally I would not recommend this place nor I will go back. For the price the food is not worth it.
