Found this place on Yelp while working in the area. The low-star reviews for this place are funny and maybe I was too hungry to care about a place not answering phone calls. Decided to try 'em anyways and, luckily, I did not experience any of the customer service issues mentioned. The staff was nice & friendly. Had to wait a bit for the food but it came out fresh straight from the fryer. My co-worker and I had to be more patient after we both burned our tongues when taking a bite after waiting for only 2 minutes. LOL. Fried Chicken was good. Fried Chicken Livers were even better :) Fairly quiet when I was there. They do have a drive-thru and can call in a takeout order. Will stop by again when working in the area. read more

My family lives and dies in this place, so we decided to try it. I am a New Yorker who loves Southern soul food, and this place tries to be soul food. What I liked: I love the fact this place has southern hospitality. The workers' vibes make you feel at home and put you at ease. I had the okra and fried pork chops, and my god, the food was so good my back is going to stay significant cause of the seasoning and flavors in the food. What I didn't like: I am a big fan of mac and cheese, and I make sure that it has a lot of cheese, the right pasta, and seasoning associated with the dish. With that said, the mac and cheese in this place is gross. No salt and pepper were used, and whatever cheese was used tasted old. The place's decor is a bit 80; I get the deer head in the restaurant because the owner likes to hunt, but it should be at your house, give the restaurant some color, and add some inviting music. What a hidden gem that I'm SO HAPPY I found out about!!! I've never been one to write bad reviews, I just don't write one at all because everyone has an off day but when they're good enough to take the time to write, it's that good! Everything I've tried so far has been amazing. The chicken fingers, Mac n cheese, mash potatoes and gravy, and green beans are all off the chart good. The chicken fingers are battered so light and airy and the chicken is so juicy. I tried it about 3 weeks ago and have been back twice since. I've always heard how great Bits chicken was and when the family and I were trying to think of something for dinner it was suggested so I was super excited to try it for the first time. Because it was a larger order, we thought it would be best to call ahead. It was about 5:30pm and after numerous attempts (5-10) and no one answering the phone, we decided to make the drive to put the order in in person. We arrived approximately 5:45pm and there were several cars in the parking lot. We rolled around the drive through and pulled up to the window. Without saying hello the lady at the window immediately says "We don't have any Livers or Chicken Gizzards." Umm okay - good - we don't want that. "Or any bone-in chicken" No chicken? What? So we can't order the 21 piece meal? "No. Well I have one but it's already someone else's." Okay so do you have any boneless chicken? "Nope" She didn't even try to tell us what she DID have. We just ended up leaving disappointed. Never again. How does a chicken place not have any chicken at 5:45pm on a weekday and can't even answer the phone? What are you busy doing? I wanted some fast, juicy fried chicken. The food hit the spot. - They were out of fried okra (my favorite) but the gizzards were tasty and not dripping with grease. - The chicken thighs and wings were crispy and also not too greasy. - Vickie and Bit were warm, friendly and proud of the food they make. Also, Bit is a hunter so I'm sure he knows a thing or two about killing animals and making sure they taste good! Check out his six and eight point bucks on the wall. I drive from Valdosta to Lakeland about once a week. Everything I've had there has been very good. My favorite is their Pork Chop dinner (2 large, juicy chops and I get the mashed potatoes & gravy and Cole Slaw for sides). Their chicken is among the best. My wife's favorite is probably the Livers & Gizzards. There sweet tea is some of the best I've ever tasted. I would say you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. read more

Tried calling to place order for family of 4 they answered said hold before I could reply and put the phone down. I waited patientlt for 10 minutes then said hello are you there, in which case the phone was picked up and hung up. I thought well maybe that was a mistake so I called back the phone was picked up and hung up. I don't know how the only other review is a 2 star. Not bashing the guy but he said all positive things with the exception of them being out of fried okra. I came here on the. recommendation of a friend that grew up here. I work out of town all the time and my buddy told me I had to come here. Came last night and got the 2 pc dark meat potato salad and green beans. The Walhalla steak house where I live had the best chicken up until I had there's. Chicken was 10x better than expected. Greenbeens were OK and the potato salad was great. The food was so good I decided to come back for lunch today b4 heading back to SC. Today I had the bits ( small chicken strips) and they are good, but the bone in chicken is so much more tasty. Will Def be back next time I'm nearby. read more

My wife and I visited Bits Country Fried Chicken today. Fried chicken was jucy and crispy with fast service. I had macaroni and cheese plus stringbeans. The stringbeans were my favorite variety, pole beans, and were seasoned to perfection. I hope they never change these wonderful string beans. My wife had chicken breast and remarked how jucy it was. I finally discovered a restaurant which doesn't cover the taste of fried chicken with a bunch of herbs and spices. I will pull a Gen McArthur with this wonderful place. I shall return. read more
