A bit of a drive from Fort Worth but well worth it. Friendly service and great food.

We drove from Arlington to Venus to give Biundo's a try. We were not disappointed, in fact, we were delighted to find a pan pizza that was full of pepperonis, mushrooms, and flavorful marinara. The crust was not doughy, but was crispy at the bottom, which always makes me happy! We had fried mozzarella sticks and garlic cheese bread as appetizers, the only downside was that I was full enough from the appetizers that I could only eat one slice of that hearty pizza. We loved the location, as it's been decades since we last went to Venus. That's about to change, however, as we've found our new favorite pizza restaurant, and we plan to try some of the other dishes on the menu. My my my where do I begin with this review? It was "Perfect/Perfetto". My oldest son and I went for the first time Sunday evening. It was quite a full house even with the late hour. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The host and staff were welcoming, kind, attentive... and patient with us realizing it was our first time. Our waitress Chris recommended dishes for us that were out of this world good....she was on point. We started with Pinot Noir to drink. It was flavorful and reasonably priced. We ordered 2 appetizers; Bruschetta and Arancini and with every bite our taste buds danced. The Bruschetta might just be the best I've had. We actually ordered the whipped Ricotta cheese option and YUM! For our main dish, we ordered the 16 inch build your own thin crust pizza. It was cooked to perfection as well. No surprise by this point. Crispy Crust, flavor of the sauce, the generous amount of each topping and the CHEESE oh my! My son ordered a side of ranch and said it's the best he's had, which says A LOT lol. We were fortunate to be able to meet the owners. A hard working husband and wife team. The staff seemed to be made up of some family members and the others were treated like family. We were seated next to a couple that moved here from Chicago 15 years ago. They raved about how it made them feel like they were back in Chicago with every visit and every bite. They weren't wrong! So authentic! It was an all around amazing experience. Our daughter lives in Ovilla (about 16 miles from Biundo's), had tried it once and said it was great, and wanted us to meet her family there for lunch. We live in far north Dallas and had hesitated at making such a long drive for lunch, but we finally found a Monday that would work for all 7 of us. Let me say right now that the 44-mile drive was worth it. I ordered a Hawaiian pizza (BBQ sauce, ham, and pineapple) - the mix of flavors was delicious and I really liked the thin crust. My hubby ordered chicken alfredo, and I think if he could have done so without embarrassment, he would have licked the plate after finishing his meal. I loved the exposed brick walls and the high ceilings of the old building housing the restaurant. The service was efficient and friendly and it was a good experience overall. read more

Just 7 miles west of IH35 and Alvarado. 12 miles southwest of Mansfield. I drove 51 miles from Weatherford to Venus just so I could eat the Deep Dish Pizza at ** Biundo's Italian Restaurant*** I plan on doing it again. This is genuine Chicago Deep Dish pizza. YUM. The owners father owned 5 pizza places in Chicago. Jennifer (owner) learned from her father. This heritage gifted we Texans with the best pizza I have eaten in a very long time. I had the deep dish pizza with black and green olives, bell peppers, onion, Italian sausage, and meatballs. All covered in cheesy goodness. And to make it even better these ingredients were on the absolute best crust I have ever put in my mouth. It is really hard to describe this crust. Firm enough to hold the plethora of ingredients yet not tough or chewy. The flavor went far beyond a normal pizza crust. Almost like a really good pie crust. Maybe this is the reason they are sometimes called "pies" in Chicago and New York. Then there was dessert The Nutella Cheesecake is to die for. The creamy goodness of cream cheese pair with the silky smooth richness of Nutella. How can you go wrong. Each ingredient strengthens the power of the other. Not too sweet or rich. We drove over 30 minutes to get here and it was well worth the drive! We read all the reviews before coming, and we stuck with pizza, which is what everyone else recommended...so I can't speak about the other food there...but the pizza?! To die for!! We had the stuffed pizza and the think crust meatlovers...plus we had the pretzel bites as an appetizer. The bites were so buttery and garlicky...we annihilated them under 3 minutes! I moved from outside Chicago about 17 years ago and I haven't found a single restaurant in Texas that has good Italian. This place is so close to my house. I'm in trouble because it is fantastic. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan sandwich and it came with hand made fries. Definitely worth try. My husband got the cheese ravioli with meat sauce and it was delicious. Let's talk about really well done Italian food. Worth the drive to Venus, Tx to visit this family owned and operated jewel. The owners are transplants from Chicago and they know what's the what for serving up good Italian deliciousness. The whipped ricotta bruschetta was brought to the table quickly and set a positive tone for the meal. Generous portion for the two of us, and we probably could have stopped there, but we followed with Cesar salad. The salad was swimming in a delightful, heavy on the horseradish, dressing. We thought it was really tasty, with hardy chunks of Parmesan, and we probably could have stopped there, but here came our stuffed crust pizza. We chose pepperoni, Italian sausage and basil. Let me tell you, this pie was perfection! We were told people drive from Abilene to eat this pie. Totally worth a 3 hour drive! One of the owners waited on us, the other baked and served our pizza. Wait staff was great. The day I went, they were having problems with their power and the AC was out, and the main dining area was full of flies. No one's fault, but still made the meal less enjoyable. I ordered a glass of tea, and it was bottled, so it tasted old and sour. Tea is too easy to make and maintain, I don't get the bottled thing, it tastes bad. The calamari, tasted fine but was overcooked. And the portion was small. The chicken Parmesan, was super thick, but also very bland and soggy. It tasted like a piece of frozen breaded chicken. I got the stuffed pizza, it was delicious and even better the next day. It did take about an hour to make, but the menu warned me before I ordered. I might give it another try, and will likely only get pizza next time. But I was overall disappointed after hearing so many great reviews. read more

We drove to Venus to follow up on some of the foodie posts about Biundo's. We were not disappointed and for a Saturday night we're able to get seated quickly. There is not a lot of seating, quaint small town Italian food. Simple menu and many pizza options. We started with the Bread Bites and marinara sauce. The sauce makes the dish, we prefer more garlic on the bread. We had a Biundo's Special Supreme thin pizza. It was very tasty with plenty of toppings and cheese. We will be back and try some other dishes. Service was great. At one point the music was on too loud and was turned down so we could have a conversation. I always make it a point to stop here anytime I am working in the area. Several different styles of pizza and they are all outstanding...my favorite is the Pan Pizza which is not your typical pan-style pizza. The crust is actually thinner and crispier. It's wonderful!! read more

I ate there earlier this week and the owners of this restaurant should be ashamed of themselves. Being from Chicago they know what a beef sandwich tastes like and they are intentionally selling CRAP. The Beef Sandwhich I received was a few slices of rubbery deli meat in a hot dog bun. There was no sauce, no cheese, no peppers, nothing just moist and gross. It costed $13.25.. Never going back and if your deciding if its worth the drive it's NOT. just another restaurant peddling cheap ingredients. **Update the owners response is even more of an embarassment trying to justify I could have spent an additional $2 per add on to have a $20 small beef sandwhich that was definitely in a hot dog bun and had dollar general roast beef inside of it** read more

My friend and I drove down from Arlington on a Thursday to try their pizza. Our waitress was welcoming and very accommodating, offering to shut the front door if we got too cold. The menu looked very good but we had come for the thin crust pizza. And the special did not disappoint! I had ordered a side of ranch dressing but I barely used it. There was no leftover crust at the edge! The toppings were generous and spread right to the edge. Crust was light and crusty, making a good bite to go along with the chewy toppings. Just look at that cheese. Restaurant was in an old brick building with pictures hanging that was reminiscent of the past, very inviting! Staff was 5 stars during our visit. Beyond sweet! The restaurant was cute. The food was good, not what I expected, the crust was amazing. We plan on bringing a family member who lives near by so I can try something other than the pizza, when we get together with her in the future. But as I sit in the passenger seat on our 50 minute drive home I unfortunately still feel a sad lump in my stomach of mixed emotions and a general do I just need to adjust expectations on deep dish? I'm a deep dish pizza lover, my husband isn't. Deep crust, sauce on top of the cheese, lots of sauce and cheese... good stuff. I had made due with the two chains we had on the ft worth/arlington area as not the best but it was something. Both those places closed, the next best options that popped up were to go only & out in Addison. I had heard this was the place to go for deep dish pizza, so when I had a chance to come down due to needing to make a stop not as far ... we made the 50 minute drive one way to come here. The pizza was good ... it was just a weird flip from what expectations were between my husband and I. My husband really liked the pizza. (The non-deep dish loving guy.) For him he loved the crust, could have used slightly more sauce. For me when i went to order I asked for the double crust asking if that was their deep dish pizza based on the pictures I had seen. I was told no their pan is the deep dish. So following their lead we got the pan. While yes the crust is what I would call deep dish crust; it wasn't what I was expecting with being used to sauce on top deep dish that i had gotten at places before. I feel like I've had it like this at Lou's but I usually got the cheese from there that has the sauce on top. My heart went into my stomach, cause my husband could tell that after the effort of scheduling a day to come out and how excited I had been for it to not be what he knew I had pictured in my head that I would be disappointed. Still ate a piece, and thought it was really good, but left disappointed after a long drive to not get what I was expecting/had in my head. Maybe if I had gotten the double I wouldn't have felt that way? I don't know. Anyway, I wish them all the success. I can see why they are a hit. We moved to Dallas from Chicago 17 years ago and this is the best pizza we've had since moving here. My wife had the stuffed pizza, my son had thin crust pepperoni, and I had thin crust sausage. We all loved our pizzas. Many have mentioned how friendly everyone is. That's absolutely true. Jennifer sat down with us and it turned out her daughter attended an elementary school is the northern suburbs of Chicago where my wife once taught. She made us feel so comfortable. On a personal note, my wife survived ovarian cancer this year and recently finished chemo. She still gets tired when we go out. We drove almost an hour to get to Biundo's. Everyone we know is talking about this place so of course, we had to try it. Very cool old school traditional downtown Main Street location. Wait staff was super buttoned up. The food & service is fantastic. I have tried their pizza & sandwiches. However, I was surprised to learn how much the Italian bomb sandwich cost. It did contain a lot of meat, but $14+ for a 6inch sandwich is too much $$$, in my opinion. The onion rings were good. Also be aware that the some items on the menu have increased by $1-2 over the past month. Overall, the pizza is my favorite! They also offer delivery for customers within 10 miles. People raved about this place. Don't understand why. The food was sub par. The lobster ravioli was fishy and smelled odd. The beef sandwich was small for the price and a slat bomb. We brought him a pizza and it lacked flavor and any substance. Thin crust Neapolitan style crust should have a slight char and snap. This did but it had a terrible bitter taste. read more

Went on a Saturday night. About a 20-30 minutes wait. A little busy but pizza was great. We ordered the deep dish with pepperoni. A little too saucey for my taste, thought it over-powered the taste of the pizza entirely. I wasn't tasting the ingredients, cheese or sauce at all. It was just sauce at this point. Nearly half the pizza left. My kids didn't like it either. Not our favorite. Took home leftovers but honestly it just went to waste. We ordered a second pizza. This review is a long time coming. My wife and I have been wanting Chicago style Pizza for a long time! We had tried a few others but they just didn't have the wow factor. We tried Biundos and shamelessly have to admit have tried almost everything on the menu but our favorite has to be what's pictured! I don't even remember what it is actually called but I know that Jen and her family already know what we want before we sit down now. We not only love the food but we love the service and hospitality we receive the minute we walk in the door.
