Well, you would be surprised to find that the food here is actually pretty good. The pizzas are made fresh. A lot of the Italian dishes are made from scratch. You can see the cook in the front making your food. It is a pleasant surprise to say the least. FYI, Crossroads Mart is the name of the gas station. You will also see references to The New Yorker Pizza which I believe is a franchise for the restaurant side. Summary - New York style pizzas - Good Italian food including pastas, calzones, spaghetti, and alfredo dishes - Subs, cheese steaks, burgers and hot dogs for those who want something else - There is NO official web site, but you can find "The New Yorker Pizza" menus on the web. - You can't order online, which sucks. You have to call in your order if you are carrying out or having it delivered. - They do deliver for free if the order is over a certain amount - There are a few booths if you want to eat inside the gas station - The pizza prices are higher than the chains but they do have specials you can take advantage of If you find yourself just south of Mocksville on US 64 then I highly recommend Crossroads Mart (AKA The New Yorker Pizza)

You could get here if you are an I40 traveller but there are closer gas stations. Inside in clean. Several pumps here. No issues with the store. Gas pumps are pay at the pump, which most these days are. I had a stranger ask me for money here once. I filled up his tank instead, then bought him some gas. It was good to know I made a difference.

My Uncle Marion would have enjoyed Gay Sholtz's daily changing menu of meatloaf, homemade soups, and pork chops. Served in a Styrofoam container, each entrée came with two sides and a roll for $5.30. Jerry picked up lunch from Gay's for us on two occasions. The warm German Potato Salad we had with the American Goulash (we call it Beef-A-Roni at our house) was the surprise find...bacon, bits of translucent onion, and an herbed dressing with that just right tart sweet balance. Buttered Peas and Creamy Mashed Potatoes covered with brown gravy begged to be sides for the tomato ketchup glazed Meatloaf. Our family appreciated the touch Gay had when seasoning her vegetables, and the Baby Limas with Fried Pork Chop were another hit. We couldn't pass up a bowl of Chili Beans, flavorful but not burn your mouth spicy. You will have no need to go back to the Cracker Barrel once you taste Gay's Hashbrown Casserole with its cheesy browned goodness. Yes! It was that good! This Walgreens is fine. I stopped in to get a shot. No, not whiskey. It was with a needle. Inside was clean. Good selection of healthcare and other items. My issue with this Walgreens, as well as the CVS across the street from it, is getting in and out of the place. That 801 and 158 interaction is busy as hell. I assume hell is busy anyway. Lots of bad people have come and gone, and still trickling in to the place. Sorry, back to Walgreens. You can only enter from 801 northbound or 158 westbound. Getting out is worse, depending on the direction back to your house.
