I definitely agree with what people have been saying--this place is a dusty, haphazard place to look for comics. But that's where I think it shines: browsing. Due to the haphazard nature of organization, it might not be the place for someone just coming here to check stuff out, but if you have no idea what you want, and you're just shuffling through things, then you may like this place. I, like many others, enjoy checking out comic book stores in other cities and states. Frankly, I live in a city with a bunch of great comic book shops, so I'm not hurting for quality or variety in terms of what I read. Also, I'm more of a graphic novel person, and I like to collect interesting graphic novels I find in places to the point where I have a pretty legitimate collection, of which I've probably only read about half. Whoops. I saw a couple of things that tickled my fancy, but they weren't priced, but I don't like interacting with people so I didn't feel like asking what the pricing would have been for them. Needless to say, I left without anything, but I would come back and randomly browse if I'm in the area again and had some time to kill. read more

There is quite a selection here. Rummaging the rooms you can find your staples and indie comics. I'm mostly impressed by the amount of mini comics and zines. I rarely ever see them in stores. Mostly full fledged stuff. I get that Fluke is located in Athens so that might have something to do with it. Really cool. :) Primarily composed of comics, sketchbooks, and art books... they do have a small selection of figures and various other collectibles in a far back room. A lot of this place is really messy though. A good portion of the back is just boxes falling into the store seamlessly. Clutter aside, it's a great stop in for comics in Athens. read more

Super cool comics shop! I'm not a comic fan but my boyfriend is and he loves it! They have such a wide selection and include both used and new comics. If you love comics or if you want to start getting into them then you should check this place out. I love that they had a Disney section of old comics. They have basically everything. The walls are all decorated and it's fun just to walk around and look at everything. You do have to climb outdoor stairs to get to this place so if you are handicapped it will be problematic. Overall pretty cool place. read more

Meh. This is the kind of place that they want you to believe has charm and character because it's an old building and everything is just sorta placed about. The truth is it is just a messy junked up store. If you don't mind stepping over and around half sorted product on the floor, moving books to the side to browse then maybe this is the place for you. And hey, I get it. I love a good treasure hunt. But it's just the same stuff (actually far less) you can find at any other comic shop ... without all the work. People are nice enough but cmon ... clean the place up. read more

I love to explore comic book stores when I am visiting a new city. After reading the reviews on here I was excited to visit this store. Unfortunately my experience was tarnished. After looking around the store for a good amount of time I picked out a comic that had a price tag of six dollars on it. I went to pay and then the man behind the register looked it up on line and told me it was a different price than what was marked. Why have it priced if you are going to look it up? And as a customer why even spend time in the store if they are the exact same price as on line? I can save time and just buy it on line. So I left this store empty handed. In conclusion, NO NEED TO SHOP HERE because you can purchase the same things at the same prices as on line! read more

IF YOU CAN STAND THE DUST AND DIRT... My husband and I love to go into comic stores and see what's up. This store is decidely old school because of the old building and the way everything is organized. They have a huge collection of comics and unique items like those original plastic Halloween masks, action figures and copies of Mad Magazine. I loved the NPR podcast that was being broad cast. It was a nice touch. I prefer dialogue to music much of the time and this was probably the perfect choice for this store. This probably would have been a better walk down "Memory Lane" had the place not been so dusty and just trashy in certain areas. I believe that areas accessed by the public should be neat and clean. If they are not for the public to see or access, keep the doors closed. I found myself coughing and just being distracted by dust and dirt which is just not my thing. For the avid collector this may be a non-issue but for me it was a problem. Cool store but definitely needs attention. read more

Piles of unorganized bric-a-brac lie among alphabetically sorted comics of all variety. This place is both an impressively broad and well stocked comic store and a bizarre graveyard for niche merchandise. There is a small selection of zines, but Bizarro-Wuxtry's emphasis stands firmly in traditional comics and books. That said, the store doesn't have to look like an abandoned Pripyat library. If someone were to take two days and clean up all the heaps and mounds of flotsam, put doors over the staff-only areas and maybe do some vacuuming... Is that too much of a task? read more

The store was poorly organized. Just stacks of comics and graphic novels everywhere. Many things were not clearly priced. And the selection of graphic novels and compilations, perhaps because of the lack of organization, seemed limited. read more

If I had to sum up my experience on a recent hot July afternoon trip to Bizarro-Wuxtry Comics & Stuff in one sentence, I'd call it "a comic book store only a hoarder would love." There are rooms full of comics and graphic novels, but the disorganization was so overwhelming -- copies of one new graphic novel sitting a pile on top of a box in the back area of the store while another 7-8 were on the one "new comics" shelf near the register -- honestly, it was a complete turnoff. Also, looking for new monthly copies of new comics not published by DC, Marvel or Dark Horse? Forget it. Besides the scary clutter, the store isn't air conditioned, so even if I wanted to search the massive amounts of comics and graphic novels for something, I just couldn't handle the heat in the store for more than 10-15 before leaving. I did find a couple of recent comics to buy right by the front door, and wanted to look for more but the complete lack of organization and the heat did me in. Wish I had better news, because the amount of graphic novels there is massive. But the store's best asset is its worst liability, due to a lack of organization. read more

Don't be suckered by that corporate cavern across town: they may have a few cheap remainders, but their selection is dwarfed by Bizarro Wuxtry. This place is all right. There is a significantly better comic shop in town with a much friendlier staff.

Their hours are merely approximate. For example, their sign says they open at 11am, you show up at 11:10am and the place is still locked. Strong work, guys. Way to be punctual and respectful to your customers. read more
