I was looking for the Marine Corps 250th Anniversary Rifle for my husband's 60th Birthday. I had purchased guns here before and had a great experience. Unfortunately the rifle would take a few months to get but Steve showed me the M1A and explained the history of it in the USMC. Steve went out of his way for me and I cannot wait to get more guns from him. Parker is also awesome as he guides you through the purchase process. When I came back to pick it up, Steve remembered me immediately and was amazing again! My husband and him hit it off and we already know what gun we are getting next. We stopped by to inquire about licensing and the employees were very helpful and knowledgeable. Went in for a private party transfer. I was transferring a gun to my friend and he was transferring his gun to me. Garrett and Levi extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They were fast with the paperwork. Had a minimal amount of firearms to choose from but considering the times, everyone is low on selection. I'll do business here again. Private Party Transfer was $35, I've found comparable or more expensive at other places but not cheaper than this. I'll come here again for business. read more

The owner is very polite and knows his stuff when it comes to fire arms, and when it comes to outdoor equipment he is knows what you need. He doesn't try to sell you junk but instead asks what are your want and what your intentions are, then tries to come up with a good idea of what you need. I often buy gift certificates for people at BJ's. I like to support local businesses, and I think the salespeople at BJ's are not only helpful (but not intrusively so)- they are knowledgeable and friendly too. I'm not sure it's too smart to have a large amount of firearms showing, because the bad-guy population in Hemet has soared in the past few years, and it would probably just be asking for trouble. Anything anyone needs can be special-ordered quickly, I'm sure. I think it takes a lot of gumption to maintain a small business in today's economy, and I don't care to pick on any brave businesspeople who are hanging in there and still making it--- I skip the chain stores when I can. read more

BEST. SERVICE. EVER!! I brought a young friend who needed a complete baseball setup and this was the closest place. Never been there before. One of the owners walked in from the parking lot behind us and immediately asked if he could help us find anything. I know nothing about baseball, so we told him the items we needed and he took us all around and helped pick out each item. He gave direction, encouragement, and advice, but was not the least bit pushy and did not try to sell us anything not on our list. What a nice, warm gentleman! We even explained we would be heading to Big 5 after to pick up a brand BJs does not carry, and he was as nice as can be. While at Big 5, we realized we needed a few more things, so back we went to BJs for the owner's expert advice on batting helmets. To boot, the place is family owned and the family has an interesting history, which they will share if you ask. Its been a long time since I have been treated so well at a retail establishment. If I ever need sporting goods again, I will make the drive from Riverside to Hemet, just to patronize this store. read more

Just pitiful. I was looking to purchase a firearm. I have lived in Hemet all my life and remember buying a lot of sporting goods and hunting and fishing equipment at BJ's when I was young. Unfortunately when I walked into the store recently to browse the gun selection. I was really disappointed to see that the rifle and shotgun racks were nearly empty! I mean like 5 guns in the racks. The handgun selection was even worse! like 3 new and 3 used handguns! In the whole store! Nobody greeted me or said a word as I entered the store. Not because it was overwhelmingly busy, I assure you. I could hear the crickets chirping it was so dead in there. After standing there for a minute without so much as a hello from anyone, I knew that I was going to be going to The Shootist in Murrieta to shop. Very very disappointing. By the looks of it, I would guess that BJ's is going the way of the dodo and will soon be extinct. read more
