And the mattress... wow. It took everything in me to get out of that bed! It felt like it just embraced you, and waking up to those top window views made it even harder to leave. The food was incredible--both breakfast and dinner were beyond amazing. Enrique, Rafael, and the entire team (I wish I could remember every name!) made us feel so special. The level of care, attention to detail, and overall service was easily 1000 out of 100. Kat, thank you for everything--you truly made our stay unforgettable. The stables were just as impressive. Jack and all the handlers were not only knowledgeable about the ranch's history, but you can clearly see the love and care they have for the horses--it meant so much to witness that. I'm a little timid around horses, but Russell made the experience so comfortable and special for me. He paired me with Tator Tot, and I can't even describe the connection--he could sense when I was nervous and responded so gently. It was such a beautiful, unforgettable moment. My husband rode Big Elvis, and let's just say... the name fits perfectly--what a character! This ranch is truly one of a kind. An unforgettable experience from beginning to end. We will absolutely be back--this is now our home away from home.

Unfortunately, Circle Bar B fell far short of expectations in nearly every category. We booked Cabin 18, a two-story unit with ample space. However, the cleanliness was unacceptable. The floors were visibly dirty, with cobwebs in nearly every corner and overhang. The shower fixtures were covered in grime, and it was evident that the cabin had not been thoroughly cleaned in quite some time. While we appreciate rustic environments, there is no excuse for lack of basic hygiene and maintenance. A major concern was the food situation. While breakfast and dinner are included, there is no menu provided in advance, and front desk staff must "get back to you" with meal details. There are virtually no accommodations for guests who do not eat meat, and meal planning seems completely random. If the property chooses not to serve lunch, that is understandable but to then offer only minimal snack options is completely inadequate. Guests are isolated on a remote ranch and should not have to leave the property just to find a proper meal. Even simple items like sandwiches, hot dogs, or salads would be an improvement. The lack of child-friendly activities was also disappointing. Aside from horseback riding, there is very little for families to do on-site. The pool and game room are the only options offered. There were no organized outdoor activities for kids no open play areas, no nature programming, no campfires, no stargazing, nothing beyond a dilapidated horseshoe pit that looked untouched since the 1940s. Several buildings around the property appeared neglected and unstable, further contributing to a feeling of disrepair. Staff were polite and well-meaning, but clearly overextended. When the same person checking you in at the front desk is also mixing drinks at the bar, it's clear the ranch is understaffed and operating well below an acceptable service standard. In short, we spent more time leaving the ranch than enjoying it. Circle Bar B might have potential, but in its current state it feels neglected, understaffed, and not designed with families in mind. We'll be returning to Alisal Ranch for future trips a property that clearly understands how to deliver a polished, welcoming, and activity-rich experience for both children and adults.

Just finished an amazing Labor Day Weekend stay at the Rolling Thunder Ranch. We had a fantastic time at the ranch and were shocked at how much the property felt like a tropical resort. The perfect weather made it very easy to enjoy the 2 fire pits, the ample outdoor cooking, dining, and general hang out spots. Sleeping was a little tight for the 15 people we had, but with the great weather we were able to put inflatable mattresses pool side and make use of the hammocks. We will be back!

We were also celebrating our first grandchild as well as our younger son's engagement, and we couldn't have found a better spot for quality time and making memories. The outdoor spaces are extraordinary, gorgeous nature, minutes from town and shopping with resort amenities - had an all-day bocce tournament, epic morning workouts in the giant yoga room, ping pong + frisbee games, long soaks in the hot tub, and hikes to the nearby picturesque river trail. Also outdoor lunches with vistas of the mountains and lush tropical foliage. The beds in the charming ranch home are super comfy and we had some excellent game nights and dinners at home, plus great meals out (Roblars, Rory's Place, The Hip Vegan, The Dutchess). Our granddaughter slept well with her parents in the guest house, and our granddog was happy to run around in a safe fenced area. Communication with Lisa was perfect. Can't wait to return...A+++

While the interior looks outdated, it is well-maintained and clean. I love how housekeeping keeps the beds folded neatly and crisp. They do a really good job with keeping the rooms immaculate that it is almost better than bigger hotel chains I've stayed at. I've encountered times when the base gates have been closed during my arrival. Just be prepared to enter through an alternate base gate. The gate that's always open is off Victoria and Channel Islands but the closest gate to the Navy Lodge is off Ventura and 23rd/Sunkist. I like staying in their rooms with a kitchen because they have a full fridge to stow away drinks or other food. I mainly use it to keep my water bottles cold. They also have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion available so you won't need to pack yours. I personally don't like their product so I made sure to bring my own during my last stay - it's just my preference. The people that work here are friendly, too. They greet you even as you're passing through the hallways - each and every time. I like that. Parking is safe and plentiful. Even with a big truck, their parking spaces are roomy. The Commissary and Navy Exchange are close by so it makes the stay super convenient when you need something. Overall, I've been happy with all my stays here at the Navy Lodge in Port Hueneme. Clean, comfortable sleep, and cold AC.

Upon arrival the Navy Lodge had plenty of parking for their guests. Once we finally got checked in our room, we noticed the facility was being maintained a high standard of cleanliness. We truly enjoyed our visit, very comfortable night of rest at a very affordable rate. We would definitely stay here again and recommend. Tip: very close to beautiful clean beaches!

So we had minimal noise and we had our baby sleep in the room next to the office wall since there wasn't anyone there to bother. Our toddler enjoyed running around the room. It was just enough space for two adults, our toddler and baby. The location itself was prefect for us. We had our stroller for the kids and everything we needed was just a walk away. We could walk a block to get food, shopping and desserts. We did a causal walk about a mile and we could get to the grocery and drugstore. The beach was also a 10 min walk away. Santa Barbara was also just a 20 minute drive away. There were two parking spots for the complex on a first-come first-serve basis. But street parking was actually much more convenient for us. Street parking in front of the complex was 90 minutes during business hours. Across the street was a parking lot with varying time limits including an area for unlimited so parking was good. The only down side is that there is no dining space or coffee table. So sometimes we ate standing at the kitchen bar area while our toddler sat on the bar seat so we could face her. Great stay and we would definitely come back again!

When driving in, we made the mistake of going to the Krishnamurti Library driveway but it was the driveway after that. We stayed in the Lennon room which included a kitchen/dining area and ensuite bathroom, as well as a private entrance through the balcony. The room was very spacious with lots of seating and storage area which is a huge plus. The queen size bed was comfortable and the entire place super clean. Because this place is in connection with the Krishnamurti Library, everyone is conscientious about being quiet and reflective as to not disturb others so you will definitely get a quiet night's sleep. We did cook our second night and the basic amenities were there. Buffet breakfast was delicious. Highlights include various fruits, jams, butters, cereals, coffee/teas, cheeses, hardboiled eggs, and bread/bagels, especially the sprouted bagel which was my favorite. There is a lot of reading material about the Krishnamurti Foundation and about Krishnamurti himself in the lounge area. The grounds are nice to take a stroll around. Next time I visit Ojai, I will visit this place again and stay here.

Personable and caring, it just added to, and made the entire experience very special, from A-Z, when I arrived to check-in. This, along with everything else, gives off a super positive energy that's inviting and comfortable. The house, and the grounds, are absolutely beautiful as it's surrounded by orange trees and flowers. The place is a spiritual retreat, so not your usual B&B. It's perfect for time alone to write, paint, think, meditate -- or -- romantic time with your special someone, walks around the property, etc. Additionally, you should know that no smoking, or meat, is allowed on the property -- veggie only. Just part of what makes this a different, yet special, experience. I stayed for 2 nights, and perhaps experienced the best sleep I've had in a very long time. Extremely quiet location! This is also encouraged, and made possible, by prohibiting TV, radio/computers (with headphones it's okay), and alcohol -- no getting drunk and loud here! The rooms are clean, a bit antiquey, and well-maintained. A couple of miles from downtown Ojai, it was just perfect (you can get your drinks and eat your meats there, if you must). Extremely restful. Wifi was a bit shotty...which for me...added to my rest by keeping computer use to a minimum. I left the weekend with my soul filled, and spirit replenished (or something like that!). I can't wait to go back.

THEY LOST OUR GUESTS CAR KEYS AND HAD TO DRIVE THEM HOME!!!!!!!!!!!…read more Definitely not 5 star. Tuesday August 11th around 6pm - a dead night. Invited important investors of ours to dinner at el encanto, a place we have been going to as locals for the past 15 years with no issues. On arrival the valet made us wait forever while they moved -one car- to put a Milpas motor Porsche into its place. Then we waited again, they had 6 cars just sitting blocking the entrance so we walked up the driveway to meet our guests. Meh not that big of deal... -UNTIL we needed to leave- Same cars sitting since we arrived, blocking entrance. We stood forever waiting for the (likely ucsb children valet drivers) just standing there chatting in a corner while we were waiting forever to bring our car, looking at us like we were crazy. LONG after our guests gave their ticket to the valet, they made our guests wait longer while being rude to us for becoming impatient. And best part?!?!? THEY LOST OUR GUESTS CAR KEYS AND HAD TO DRIVE THEM HOME!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, worse experience at a so called 5 star hotel. Definitely NOT 5 star. Edit: DEFINITELY NOT 5 STAR FOR NOT FINDING THE KEYS!!!! Our guests have been calling and calling the valet manager this morning for their only car keys to go to work (we had hoped they'd find the keys through the night) or at least called to apologize, but nope - our guests are having to chase up the manager who isn't calling back. What a joke of a hotel. There is absolutely no excuse to not call a customer you wronged
