Summerland Room #5 Pro: -ample parking -Room size is decent compared to other hotels. It as fireplace and an AC system window unit. (It is pretty loud though. Had to turn it on in short bursts because of how loud it was.) -Mini fridge gets drinks nice and cold (very rare these days) Pillows are VERY soft but hold their shape Cons: -Right next to the freeway. I wish I had listened to other reviews and stayed somewhere else. It was loud the entire time but the hotel did provide complimentary ear plugs. And there is a train that comes by that is even louder. -Paid for an Oceanfront View but in the pictures you'll see that from the patio, those hedges are too high for an unobstructed view of the ocean so try to get a balcony room for a better view. -No WIFI -Rooms could use a refresh. They are a bit dated. *I would probably give this hotel a rating closer to 3.5 but the husband and I were the only guests this day so it was nice of the staff to still put out the complimentary wine and snacks for us. First time staying in Summerland and we really loved it! We had a queen balcony view room, and it was really comfortable. Love the high ceilings and the ocean view from the balcony. They also have nice extras like complementary breakfast, afternoon happy hour (wine and cheese and crackers) and later dessert, as long as you book directly on their website. Walking distance to all the cute boutiques Cafés and shops in Summerland. It is very close to the freeway, and you hear the freeway noise throughout, but they have a white sound machine playing in the room, which was actually very thoughtful. They have a nice Jacuzzi too. Totally recommend and will return! read more

A peaceful gem by the ocean - Inn On Summerhill exceeded our expectations! We stayed here to celebrate Mother's Day, my birthday, and enjoy a little family getaway with my husband and our one-year-old daughter. We booked the ocean view room and wow, it was absolutely stunning. The staff was incredible so kind and attentive. Our room was gorgeous, the bed super comfy, and the sheets and comforter felt so luxe. Breakfast was truly a highlight. When we arrived in the morning, the chef let us know he had just made pancakes from scratch, served with eggs and bacon. Alongside that, there was a full self-serve bar with fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, cereal, homemade muffins, and fresh bread. Everything was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. We booked directly through their site, so breakfast was included if you book through a third-party, they offer a breakfast card for about $25, and it's 100% worth it. The location was also perfect we visited Summerland Beach (a beautiful locals-only spot), and the ocean view from our room was so peaceful and relaxing. The overall vibe was cozy, calm, and welcoming. We genuinely didn't want to leave. Highly recommend this charming spot for anyone looking for a relaxing and beautiful coastal escape. read more

Everything was great. I love how quiet this hotel is with great views of the ocean. Everything is pretty walkable within just a few minutes and I highly recommend it. The front desk staff was super sweet they communicate via text and it truly makes everything easier it's like talking to a friend Room I think the room was perfect I hate really modern hotels and so with this bed-and-breakfast vibe it feels a lot more cozier and still clean. 10 out of 10 for me and I will definitely be back for the strawberry festival in the area and I'll stay here read more

We have come here several times. It's well situated and has a lot of ambiance. The price is fair during the week, compared to other Bed & Breakfast establishments. This time, we were one of a few couples staying there. We reserved the king room with a sea view. The view was great of the sunset. The train is loud at night so be prepared for that. If the door is closed, the noise is not a problem. They serve a continental breakfast which was just okay. Coffee was great. Nothing to write home about. The afternoon wine and cheese also just mediocre, but it's complimentary so we can't complain. At night from 7-8pm, cookies and tea/coffee. Excellent. The room was comfortable, for winter months there's a fireplace. Some things needed to be updated, bathroom sink, outside tables, but for the most part, this place is really worth the money. The staff is really helpful and they make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Also there's a jacuzzi which is awesome. So it's a yes for us. We've been coming here for the last 15 years and love it here, as well as the community. It's delightful to stay here. Well recommend. read more

To the owners of the Inn. Please find staff that is remotely interested in hospitality. You have two staff for your breakfast and the "head" guy is angry, annoyed and clearly does not want to be there. In a tiny little dining area having such contempt and moodiness kills the vibe of your nice cottage. Both mornings I was there, this was the case. Slamminwho g plates, not acknowledging anyone, literally shuffling people out of the way in the small space. Our entire party along with other guests discussed this. Maybe don't serve breakfast if it's served with anger and contempt. Lastly, speaking to the attention of detail, I found the housekeeper/cleaner who literally opened our room door prior to checkout time without knocking and then opened the *BATHROOM DOOR* while I was sitting on the throne to be a little to much personal attention. Please inform your staff to pay a little closer attention to their surroundings. Don't believe we will be returning for the prices you are charging and this type of service. read more

This hotel is seemingly very cute and in a beautiful location. Unfortunately I had the worst stay I have ever had at a hotel here. We checked into our room in the evening and went out to dinner without really checking the room. When we got back we got ready for bed and started having terrible reactions to the dust in the room. It obviously had not been cleaned well at all or not stayed in for a significant amount of time. We both were unable to sleep with terrible allergies. The road noise which seems to be the biggest complaint was the least of our concern. I am not even allergic to dust but my sinuses were clogged and I felt awful. My fiance however was not so lucky she had a reaction that made her asthma worse, she couldn't sleep and has had trouble breathing all day. Her eye was swollen and she is genuinely sick. We checked out of the hotel by 8am and they refused to cancel our reservation for the following night despite seeing her swollen red eye and coughing. This place is a disgusting trap. read more

I have stayed here before and have enjoyed it. However, this time when I reserved the room on Expedia, they told us when we arrived that it would cost extra to get the breakfast because the room wasn't purchased at the B & B website. This was one of the reasons we picked this place again. I thought a Bed and Breakfast comes with a bed and breakfast no matter where you purchase the room. And if you arrive early, it's $25. for each hour early that you arrive. I am surprised. I have been here three times but I will not be returning. Be careful if you decide to come, they might charge extra for the bed. read more

Stayed Sunday January 28 to Monday January 29, 2024: As with others who rated this Inn at a 3 star or less, my wife and I have stayed here multiple times over the last 30 years and it was always one of our favorite places to stay. The rooms were always so quaintly decorated and the dinning area and lounge where very comfortable. This is our first time back since Covid and sadly, the rooms have lost all their previous charm that set this Inn apart. Even the delicious breakfasts and homemade warm cookies at night are not offered. Breakfast is now continental and only fair compared to what they use to be. The mattress was saggy and at first, I thought someone had college pranked us and short sheeted the bed...the manner in which the sheets were folded was confusing with each layer folded a different way (one layer was folded back, next layer was folded under itself. The hot water spigot for hot drinks in the bathroom needs to have the temperature raised. The water cools off to lukewarm within a minute after it is dispensed. The cowhide rug in the room has got to go as well!!! Sadly, this once gem of a get away has changed and we will not return. read more

The Inn is very dated and dingy. It's ioncredibly noisy-there are ear plugs for guests in the bathroom. The furniture is quite inexpensive. We moved a chair from the inside out to the balcony as there was only a cheap metal chair. Entering the room was a very medicinal cleaning smell. The bathroom had a HUGE burn on the wall near the door from the makeup mirror; the vanity hadn't been updated and was so short that it came to mid-thigh (I'm 5'8"). The faucet poured water all over the sink when trying to was hands. It was very disappointing. I showed pictures and told the front desk this upon checking out and she only wanted the pictures of the burned wall. I emailed the management and they did respond they were sorry but said that they couldn't offer me a partial refund or do anything else. They indicated that the pricing for the Inn was already discounted. For the record you can stay in Montecito at a very nice central inn/motel for less or in Santa Barbara proper cheaper than at the Inn. Would NOT recommend this property. read more

My sister and I loved sharing a weekend here. The room was lovely, fireplace great, beds very luxurious. The service was so efficient and pleasant. The breakfast was delicious and hot.. delivered to our room. We both had a spa treatment that was truly fantastic. The masseuse was so pleasant and very experienced. Location is just terrible!!! Too much noise from the road directly below the Inn and non-stop blasting noise from the visible 101 freeway (not to mention the horn from the passing Amtrak trains). If this hotel were located anywhere else we would consider coming back. We had a nice ocean view from our balcony but could not enjoy our expensive balcony without being drowned out from traffic sounds. The wall A/C units in the room are very loud as well so if you're looking for a peaceful getaway this is not the place. We wondered why there were earplugs provided...they didn't help. The room was decent but they don't come with electrical outlets in the bathroom (shaving, drying or curling hair has to be done elsewhere). We used the jacuzzi and none of the jets were working..the hot water felt good though. The town of Summerland rolls up it sidewalks pretty early so don't expect to find all your entertainment in the area. The Beach Overlook park down the street was ok for a quick photo op but the smell of railroad ties (oil? tar?) was nasty and there are sign's everywhere to avoid going in the ocean. Overall, the Inn is a cute place but is better in theory than in reality...just too noisy!!! read more

I just checked in with my niece who came from France to visit the region, I saw their website when I booked and honestly the pictures looked amazing. What a disappointment it is when you show up. First of all I am being greeted by a gentleman who was quickly annoyed by my confusion and disappointment at the place. He immediately asked me to give them my credit card and ID to cover the other half of this day. Then he proceeded to tell me that there was no housekeeping available for stays under 3 days. Last I was handed a key and instructed to bring my luggage up the stairs where my room was. The room has a balcony right above the highway yes facing the Ocean and overlooking a construction site with a large yellow Caterpillar. This beauty it's costing me $400 per night. Came for a wedding and ended up booking this place with another couple that we were traveling with. Got two queen beds but even then, the price is way over inflated. The beds themselves are fairly old and pretty uncomfortable, as are the pillows. The bathroom is also fairly old, there's a lot of wood all over including around the bathtub, the ceilings and all in all, gives it a look that it much desires some TLC. It's right by the road which is not such a big deal as at least this was easily identified by other reviews and looking at the map. However, the pictures definitely did not represent what I think we were given. The rooms are extremely old and at that price point, you definitely expected a little bit more. One of the most frustrating things was that we showed up about 9:55 at the breakfast that was included. The chef never really turned around and acknowledged us and when we asked if they were all wrapped up, they said that they had closed for breakfast. I get that they have a sign saying that breakfast ends at 10 and there are no exceptions, but we're still a little bit before breakfast. Especially considering that I don't think there's many people staying here, you would think they would be a little bit more accommodating. It's not like there's a lunch rush that they also have to prepare for. Even the pastries that were in the kitchen weren't offered to us, and again at this price point I really think they would make a little bit more effort. All in all, I'm not entirely sure we would ever stay here again due to all the rooms, high prices and not the most friendly service. Initially that we checked in, the lady who checked us in was definitely welcoming and told us some things to do around town, but did not make up for the above mentioned issues. We have stayed at the Inn on Summerhill many times over the years. 28 years ago, my husband and I stayed here for eight days on our honeymoon. The, previous owner had the Inn decorated. Super cute! Lots of character. Beautiful wallpaper... When you walked into your room, you instantly felt like you were transported to a beautiful Inn in Europe. Or a beautiful country cottage. Classical music playing in your room. Beautiful bed! Just really cozy. Then there was the chef that made a wonderful breakfast, and had homemade/housemade appetizers for the wine and cheese in the afternoon. They also offer dessert at the Inn. The first night we went and went down to the dining area to see if they were having dessert and coffee. The girl that was at the desk went into the kitchen. At that point, took a carrot cake out of the refrigerator, cut it into pieces and served it. Not the way it should've been planned. Everything should've been laid out nicely ahead of time. Not pulled out of a box and served while we're standing there waiting. All of the character has been stripped away. It's very sad The decorations are very sparse. Not really much storage to unpack. If you like minimalistic decorating, that's great, but they didn't even do a good job with minimalistic decorating. The furniture is very cheap, and then they have, I would hope would be a fake cowhide rug in the middle of the room on the floor. One drawer in your bedside stand, and the small armoire has three small drawers under the bottom. This seems to be the original Armoire that they had years ago, but it's far from enough storage. They also removed the character from the fireplace in the dining area. It looks like they took away the beautiful mantle that was there. Really horrible! What saved us on this trip was beautiful Montecito, and Santa Barbara nearby. We did have a wonderful vintage/antique shopping trip at one of the vintage stores in town. First of all, their beds are SO comfortable... definitely the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. My favorite things about the stay here: nicely decorated room, high ceiling, nice balcony with ocean view, comfortable beds, good complimentary breakfast, free hor d'oeuvres and wine from 3-5 PM, and turn down service. However, this place gets 4 stars instead of 5 because there are few things they can really work on. On the first night, we decided to try their hot tub that is available for all the guests. The water wasn't hot enough and the jets weren't working except for one (on the stairs so a very awkward place). Also, the tub itself was a bit worn down. Further, they only give you one towel each so if you wanted to use the hot tub you would have to use the same towel again after you showered. It would be nice if they could give you a few extra towels, knowing there is a public hot tub for use. The temperature of the room is really off. There aren't individual thermostats like in normal hotel rooms so they had the central heat on. I was sweating in the middle of the night and I'm not one to get warm easily. Because of this, we had to sleep with the AC on (while the heater was also on), which is such a waste of energy. This is just a minor thing but the faucet in the bathroom sink kind of sucks. The water squirts everywhere and it is very close to the side of the sink so when you are trying to wash your face, it's really inconvenient. This might be their attempt at water conservation but not really great for a room that costs $300+ a night. If they improved on these things, the place would be perfect! One thing to note for light sleepers, this is located right next to the freeway. The sound of the cars actually didn't bother me (I slept like a baby) but it might be because we had the AC on which helped drown the noise out. read more

A charming Inn right off the highway in Summerland. We had booked the hotel by recommendation from a friend we were visiting that lives nearby. The highlights are the following; the bedroom we chose was in the middle of the hotel second level with a balcony that had a clear view of the ocean. The rooms are have peak wood ceilings with a sizable comfortable bed, flatscreen TV on the wall, fireplace, and plenty of room. The accommodations include a outdoor hot tub, afternoon wine & auerdorves, and a wonderful personally made breakfast. The rooms are somewhat quiet when your door is closed, but when sitting on the balcony, there is considerable noise coming from the highway and railroad. read more

Stayed about 10 years ago with my mom and that trip was heaven. Food amazing, room wonderful. It was my dream to bring my future husband there. 10 years later I am now married and booked our stay on my birthday weekend. Called to see how things would look during Covid...was told breakfast was the same, just in our rooms. Great! Now I have to say our room was lovely, view is just as I remembered and guests were quiet. Street is noisy but with the noise machine they provide,ear plugs and ac on its mostly quiet. But...food was not at all as before and we just wish they had been upfront about that as we probably wouldn't have stayed. Food is a big issue for us, we love good food and good portions, especially my husband. First morning had a small portion of eggs and two slices of bacon each and 3 mini muffins total. Called at 8:40 to ask for more eggs for my husband. Cook is already gone, nothing can be done. We were sorely let down by this breakfast and after a few phone calls were told that's the new Covid regulations. I asked why 3 small muffins for two people were regulation as well as the tiny scoop of eggs? No answer( granted our regular hotel we always stay at in Santa Barbara was still serving their omlettes and my husband was regretting all this money I convinced him to spend coming here) they did make us some lovely chocolate covered strawberries as an apology and that was a great end to my birthday day. Day two still small eggs with potatoes and one sausage. There were 4 muffins at least this time :) He mentioned the small portions when asked how things were during check out and was told " oh, well you could have asked for more" we did that the first day and were told no. So why would we have tried again? Plus why wasn't it larger for us after we talked yesterday? If you are ok with smaller breakfasts, and many are, then this might be a consideration but my husband will never again spend the money on this place. We will be going back to our other bed and breakfast when we travel up here. I will miss the view and I know the front desk girl tried with those lovely strawberries. WARNING: The post is long but worth the read. I'm all about posting positive reviews but unfortunately, the experience with Inn on Summer Hill, has been a very unpleasant experience from the start and I feel it's important to share with others. We booked the hotel for two nights and had to cancel outside the cancelation policy. The cancelation policy is within 7 days and we canceled within 5 days. I completely understand and respect the policies in place but I was told the small 16 room Inn was near full capacity due to an event that weekend not to mention mid-summer and they would have no problem selling the room so that I would be fully refunded the one nights stay of $309. I spoke with Laura on Tuesday and canceled the reservation and she sent an email cancelation confirmation. I received a call from Chris on Thursday to confirm the original check-in on the 26th and he had us down for two rooms, which was even more alarming when we only had one room reserved. I let him know that I spoke with Laura 2 days prior and the reservation was canceled. He apologized for the confusion and saw that the room had been canceled. I received another call from Chris on Saturday, asking if I still planned on checking in and I had to remind him that I just spoke with him two days prior and again explained the reservation was canceled early in the week and we would not be arriving as originally planned. I was concerned with how the staff seemed to be very unorganized and did not have a clue of what they were doing and had suspected that they would retain my money. So between myself, my son, and friends we called down at the Inn from afternoon throughout the evening at different times to see if they had any availability and we were all told the hotel was SOLD OUT. I also tried to make a reservation online to see if the dates for our original stay were available and received a message that the property was sold out for the requested dates and to try other dates. I have a screenshot that the hotel was completely sold out that weekend and Fabienne Massoneau, the manager, is trying to tell me the hotel was not sold out. Furthermore, what's even more disturbing is how he has handled the situation and refuses to refund my money. He confirmed the reservation wasn't canceled until Saturday when I sent him the email confirmation of the reservation being canceled on Tuesday, 5 days prior in addition to the screenshot of his property, being sold out for the weekend. I understand, COVID has impacted many businesses as it has everyone but to take advantage of people to recoup their losses is completely unacceptable. Although $300 may not seem like a lot of money, it's more the principle than anything and I will continue to dispute and expose his dishonesty and shady business practices. I have an email thread of Fabienne completely disregarding emailed cancelation confirmations from his staff and screenshots of the property, being sold out. He even replied in the email, he has no idea how I have a photo of the hotel being sold out. I am in utter disbelief with how unprofessional Fabienne has been and unfortunately, he has left me no other choice than to write a review, report to the news media and social media platforms, as well as pursue other legal options as a consumer. As a small business owner myself, this is in NO WAY how to conduct business!! read more

Inn On Summerhill is a very spacious and comfortable B&B where cozy meets relaxing. We were up North for a quick turnaround trip and this was a nice spot that we found that halfway between Ojai & SB that was not off the radar completely, but still close enough that you could hop on the freeway close by and get to where you needed to go to explore, shop and eat. The Inn has a parking lot out front that could probably fit at least 15 cars tightly. Head up the steps to the front desk to check in and there's a little dining hall in the back where you can enjoy your complimentary breakfast, a Happy Hour that serves some nice wine & snacks during the early evening time and then finally, free dessert that alternate between pies, cakes & cookies in the late evening time after dinner to before 9pm. We checked in with the front desk and then led away to our room in the lower level (without a view of the ocean) since we figured we would be checking in late and out early that we wouldn't have to enjoy the view anyways. The room was very spacious and clean - comfortable and cozy. The bathrooms were equally well stocked with the normal amenities and everything worked as it should (outdated a bit for the fixtures, but everything still worked fine). The room had a nice double door that led into the patio area where you could sit and enjoy breakfast, (but since it was cloudy out, we opted to stay indoors) with breakfast delivered to the room (normally a $5 charge, but the front desk clerk was nice enough to give it to us free of charge). Overall, check out was easy and we were out early morning. I enjoyed the R&R time and would be back if I were ever in the area again. read more

We have stayed at the inn on Summerhill since the late 80's. I remember the first time walking into our room and they had soft music playing, a bottle of wine the rooms were quaint, it was great, even with the traffic noise, we loved it. Have been coming here at least once a year until a couple of years ago. Everything has changed. I told my husband I missed the inn and we decided to take a spur of the moment trip to SB and took a chance the inn would have a room available. They did, first room we were put in the toilet ran constantly so we were moved. As I write this we are in our room pretty miserable, the traffic noise is horrendous, ( not the inns fault, except the windows probably have not been changed since the eighties) went down for evening bites, which used to be great, today, stale crackers, cheese, blueberries and one strawberry cut in half. One of the attractions of the inn was they had jacuzzi tubs in every room. I didn't notice but they eliminated the tubs. ( don't know if that is every room or just the room we are staying in) I asked the very nice girl at the front desk if tubs had been eliminated in every room and she had only been working here a month so was not aware they had jacuzzi tubs in the rooms.... So much for a relaxing soak. I can't tell you how disappointed we are, we are staying 2 nights at A price of $800+, I asked the girl if we decided to leave tomorrow could we be refunded for tomorrows stay, she said no but we could talk to the manager in the morning. As I'm writing this we are in the room with the AC cranked up as to drown out some traffic noise, just makes it worse, traffic noise and loud air conditioning. I really just want to sit down and cry, I feel like we just threw away $800. There is nothing relaxing about this stay at all. Years ago I gave this place rave reviews, told my friends and family about it, today I can't wait to leave but will have to stay the extra day or forfeit the days rate, which we might do anyway, we are that miserable. A little more on this review, went down for breakfast ( good) talked to the very nice manager about leaving today and she didn't hesitate at all, said we could absolutely leave today as they want their guests to be happy. Top notch service. I felt so at home here. The front desk manager was amazing right from the beginning. Great quaint location. Delicious breakfast and the cook was the sweetest. This is my first bed and breakfast experience and I honestly prefer it over a luxury hotel experience. It feel like I'm visiting my mom's for vacation bc of how they take care of you. They closed early because it's 4th of July. My husband got food poisoning from eating at a bistro in Santa Barbara. The front desk manager was kind enough to open up just to give me a portable cup and jasmine tea to help his stomach ache and nausea. Comfortable & accommodating - this a very nice Inn within proximity of Carpenteria, Montecito, Santa Barbara & Goleta. The staff are friendly & helpful, the rooms are clean, our king bed was supremely comfortable, etc., all very good except... The noise from the 101 freeway. Inn On Summerhill - Lobby, Sitting Room - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Summerland, California

Extremely picturesque and adorable inn with great views. Came here for my birthday weekend and had an amazing time. The inn is a little less than 15 minutes from the Funk Zone, which wasn't a problem for us since we were able to experience both the Funk Zone and the immediate area (Summerland) which is quaint and offers a different charm. The room itself was mostly wood and had a cozy cabin-like charm, complete with a fireplace, patio and high-rise fluffy bed. Parking is plentiful and free in the lot in the front. Service was great. The girl at the front desk offered amazing restaurant recommendations and they were accommodating about late check out. Plus, they offer complimentary afternoon wine and appetizers, desserts in the evening, and breakfast in the morning. Note: the inn is located right by the highway and noise is very noticeable. There is also a train that makes quite a bit of noise in the morning. They provide free earplugs. Wasn't an issue for us, but might be for those who are more sensitive to noise. read more

Our experience began with our last minute phone call to try and make reservations to one of the only places left available, which landed us here. My wife spoke with a very nice lady named Rachel. We made our reservations with her and she even stayed later than normal that night so that she could greet us on our arrival and provide us with a key and instructions for our room. The room was well decorated and comfortable. After being shown to our room, we arrived with music softly playing and the air conditioner blasting to cool our room down. Unfortunately, I now see why these actually may have been running. It was to distract us from noticing or hearing other things instead. Since we arrived late at night, we quickly unpacked and made our way to bed. This is when we noticed things were not as great as we thought. Because this bed and breakfast sits so close to the freeway, there was nothing you could do to drown out the noise. Not the air conditioner, or the music softly playing in the background. And to top it off, the people staying above us were very heavy footed (not to blame the hotel for that). The hotel obviously made efforts, knowing the noise from the freeway traffic may be loud, even providing ear plugs in our room. However, I don't sleep well with items stuffed in my ear while trying to sleep, so that was not going to work. In the morning, we were woken up by a train who was blaring its horn. Thankfully that only happened in the morning hours and only once. We did make it to their breakfast, which they did very well in executing. Their eating area was small, but comfortable and even had a little area to eat outside if you preferred to do so. They had a very nice lady cooking omelettes, which were made to order. They also had a nice variety of fresh juices and other refreshments to choose from. Later that evening, during the dessert hour, we met a very nice lady who also worked in the same dinning area who we unfortunately did not get a name for, but we made great small talk with and she seemed very genuinely kind. The beach was across the freeway and unfortunately had a bad oil smell to it, which the hotel did warn us about, due to a possible oil spill in the area. Although when we went to the beach there was a sign posted talking about the possible natural oil that seeps through the ocean floor. However, I am not so sure if that is an excuse tactic that the local oil rigs are using who seem to line the horizon just off the coast, or if it truly is a natural occurrence. Either way, it really made the beach smell. The hotel did offer a suggestion to go just a little further north or south off the coast and the smells and water would not look the same, but in fact look much more beautiful. For the price of this hotel, with all the inconveniences you had to deal with, it was just not worth the money. I would have rather paid a little more for another hotel out of the immediate area where the freeway seemed to line or even stayed at the Best Western for less. This place has such potential if it truly were not for that darn freeway and crappy beach location. The hotel has made every effort to accommodate these issues, but it is simply just not enough to make it worth while. read more

3 WORDS to describe the INN at Summerland: CHARMING, RELAXING, HOSPITABLE!! This a long overdue review. Discovered this BnB a number of years ago. Served to put up a big part of our wedding party 3 years ago. This is the perfect alternative to staying in Santa Barbara. Every charming room has an ocean view, canopied beds, and great woodwork floors and ceilings. An excellent breakfast (not Continental) is included each morning, not to mention delicious snacks and wine late afternoons. Parking could not be better and more convenient! Lastly, and I must mention this, the primary INNKEEPER CHRISTOPHER is the nicest most personable and accommodating staff member one could ask for. He will do everything he possibly can to make your stay a special one!! Highly recommended!! read more

Why this place is great for health-conscious couples who want a romantic getaway: - Ocean views - Well appointed rooms include great climate control, fireplace, high end toiletries, and comfy beds. - 2 occupant max per room policy, otherwise 4 max but with extra charges per person. Not that many rooms so intimate setting. - Made to order breakfast, hors d'oeuvre with wine in the afternoon, and desserts in the evening; all included but of course don't be shy to tip. - Number one reason I'll return: Non-smoking and no pets policy. Can't stand the snowflakes who drag their poor dogs with them everywhere without regard for the animal's comfort, let alone the noise / allergen / smells to fellow guests. Bravo to taking a stand and catering to those of us who don't want to stay in a kennel. This speaks to the owner's pride in the property rather than trying to squeeze every dollar out. Staff is courteous, parking easy, great location off the freeway (white noise machines and ear plugs included to mitigate my sole sore point: freeway noise and occassional train whistle), and just a brief drive to State Street. read more

This was an amazing first romantic get away for our budding romance. First checking in, Christopher was very attentive at check in. We were well past the 3-5 wine and cheese they provide. That did not stop Christopher from pulling it back out and setting us up. The next morning breakfast in bed was delightful. They showed up with a warm breakfast, hot coffee, cold orange juice and chilled fruit. This is a great getaway to get to know someone or rekindle your love. A truly charming bed and breakfast with a lot of nice perks. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they have an afternoon wine, desserts in the nighttime, and breakfast in the mornings. The location is about a 10 minute drive to the main part of Santa Barbara, or about a $10 Uber ride. There's also some nice restaurants, a lot of antique stores, and a small beach within walking distance. The rooms are reasonably priced, clean and look very picturesque. Ours had a patio which looked out towards the ocean, and was a very relaxing place to enjoy the complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres. The only minor complaint is the somewhat weak water pressure for the shower. Overall, would definitely recommend for those looking for a place to stay in Santa Barbara, and don't mind being a short drive away from the winery area. read more

Such a cute bed and breakfast, one thing is that I wish they warned us the hot tub was not available to use. Loved the afternoon cocktail and snack, and the breakfast was delivered to us! Noisy above train tracks but the windows are thick so it's not loud in the room read more
