My issue has nothing to do with the doctor, but with the person in the eyeglasses area. After my…read morecataract surgery I still wanted to wear my eyeglasses. My prescription (for reading) was only going in the lower portion of the lense. It was explained to me that was called a "progressive" lense...top portion has no prescription. I also needed new lenses in my sunglasses. I assumed the tech understood I wanted them exactly like my regular eyeglasses. Instead of simply saying that, she used other words when discussing the sunglasses. I still assumed they would be exactly the same. After picking up both pairs of glasses, I noticed the sunglasses were "blurry" when looking straight ahead. I knew immediately what happened. My reading prescription had been put in the entire lense. Not just the bottom. When I was finally able to speak to this tech, she told me I had to pay the difference for a "progressive" lense. Not for nothing, but I don't do this for a living. She does. Why on earth wouldn't she explain I needed a progressive lense in my sunglasses?? She didn't. She let me think my sunglasses would be just like my regular glasses! Then had the nerve to insist I was at fault. Sorry, not buying it! SHE is the so called "professional". If I only needed a reading prescription, hence a "progressive" lense on one pair of glasses, why would the second pair be different??? I'm waiting to speak to her manager when she returns from vacation. I do NOT recommend getting your glasses from here!

Having had excellent experiences at the Southpark and Steele Creek locations, I expected to be just…read moreas pleased at the Pineville location. I couldn't be more disappointed. The first issue was just making the appointment. I showed up, they didn't have me scheduled. What followed was so screwy and complicated I don't even know how to go into any detail without needing five paragraphs, so suffice it to say by the time I could show them the confirmation on their CEENTA app all they could do was try to fit me in. They did, but I felt rushed and the doctor and his P.A. seemed to be distracted by thinking of the next patient while they were talking to me. All of this was nothing in light of what happened next. I had surgery on my neck. The goal of the surgery was accomplished but the incision wasn't closed properly and I am left actually deformed. It's ugly and permanent and I will be self-conscious about it for the rest of my life. I understand that by the time it was discovered there was nothing that could be done to correct it. But they were so nonchalant about it and haven't seemed at all concerned about what happened to me. And it absolutely WAS the fault of whomever closed the incision (I don't know who, I was anesthetized). I followed post-surgical instructions to the letter. I even considered a malpractice suit, but that would accomplish nothing. This cannot be fixed. I want to repeat: I have had a more-than-satisfactory experience at the Steele Creek location and the care I've received at the Southpark location has been outstanding for the last ten years.

Dr. Lee Wiley... I cannot say enough positive things about him. He is personable, knowledgeable,…read moreconfident, empathetic, courteous, & very professional. It is quite obvious that he truly cares about his patients as he takes plenty of time with each one & answers any/all questions thoroughly. He also explains procedures/surgeries in "layman's terms" & doesn't talk over your head. I recently had the privilege of undergoing two cataract surgeries w/laser by him & I'm seeing clearer than I have in over thirty years. He is an amazing cataract surgeon but I now plan to start going to him for my routine eye care, as well. I highly recommend Dr. Lee Wiley with Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose, & Throat Associates.

Earlier this year Dr. Wiley performed both my cataract surgeries and said I wouldn't need glasses…read morefor distance, yet I do ~ ok, I can live with that. However, he didn't treat other after-surgery issues properly ~ blurriness, not seeing clearly from both eyes, & starbursts were blamed on dry eyes (given a daily Rx) and conjunctivochalasis (given Rx for 2 weeks). Returned for 3 month check up with same issues, but he said I was "doing fine" ~ I wasn't. Also, during the 4 months after surgery, I had to request prescriptions for new glasses (isn't that standard after cataract surgery?). Based on wearing 'cheaters' after surgery, I knew the first prescription he handed me wasn't right, so he changed it to what I requested. At my 3 month check up my vision had degraded a bit, and I knew the prescription needed tweaked, yet still had to request it. I again didn't agree with it, but he wouldn't change it (I had it filled, but couldn't see right). Two months later, I went to a different Dr who not only issued a new prescription that I can see well with (and she questioned why Dr. Wiley had put in a correction for astigmatism since I no longer had that condition after paying extra for the lens to fix that), she also discovered my oil glands were clogged (Dr. Wiley never checked that), I still had conjunctivochalasis (Dr. Wiley didn't recheck that on my last visit), and his dry eye Rx wasn't the proper treatment. The new Dr started a treatment plan for all 3 issues, and after 4 weeks everything cleared up, and still fine after 3 months. Bottom line, I have no faith in Dr. Wiley. I feel he just wants to do all the cataract surgeries, is intolerant of any issues that arise afterwards, and simply cannot prescribe lens properly. As a side note, I have a friend who also had the same surgeries with Dr. Wiley and had ALL the same issues. Needless to say, neither one of us will be returning to this practice.
