The shopping experience at this BJ club is horrible! First of all you have to scavenger hunt for a shopping cart! By either going into the parking lot and hoping you see one, or stand in the doorway of BJ's hoping someone can unload their items so can get a cart. When leaving you have too many cab drivers hounding you for their service! Some of the workers in BJ are nice but some have attitudes when they are servicing you. ESP the meat counter. Then there are no shopping carts available, you have to follow people exiting, wait for their carts, after they unload, which takes away from 3 hours, then people follow you for cart, when you leave, plus people that drive car service approach you, (don't even know if they have a license or car insurance) same when you leave. read more

Unfortunately I assumed that such a huge market place would be on point. I purchased expired food which shouldn't be my problem but it is because I do not reside close by and shop there every so often since it's large bulk items. Was Sold Expired Food!!!!, expiring on the day of purchase. Not Kosher. Since they lack the staff to provide customer service via actually answering phone calls (or non-automated website) for such an issue, I had to go another route. I got in touch with the food company's regional sales department to inform them of their expired foods being sold on or after expiration dates. They need to maintain their shopping carts more effectively so there are enough for all customers and that a small front door side hustling business isn't how customers acquire a shopping cart. read more

HORRIBLE BJ's online shopping experience! I ordered $200 worth of groceries today, which I scheduled to be delivery between 7PM-9PM on their app @ check out. The only notice I received via text was "groceries were picked up at BJ's @ 8:58PM" with no follow up status. I am very upset because I had an important engagement to attend at 10:00PM, tonight, and I couldn't, since there would be no one @ home to receive my groceries. I called BJ's customer service, when I didn't received my groceries by 9:30PM, however they were closed!. My groceries didn't arrive until 10:45PM, almost 2 hrs later than the time I was scheduled to receive. Not only was my groceries delivered late, but nothing was packed in boxes nor bags, everything was lose. All my groceries was left scattered on the floor outside in the hallway of my apartment, (see pictures). All my meats, frozen items were defrosted and there were several missing items too. I would not have given BJ's any stars, but I had to give it at least 1, otherwise, I couldn't move forward with posting this review! This review is for the bakery department. I ordered a custom ordered cake a week before it was needed for 2 reasons one being that I wanted it to be fresh for the Baby Shower and the second reason is because I needed it to be a specific color to match the theme that we were having. I sent someone else to pick up the cake the morning of the event and what a disappointment!. I asked for the cake to be mint green with purple handwriting. The cake was grass green and the handwriting was ugly. The cake itself looked lopsided too. I was so embarrassed to bring that cake to the event. It was my only job to order and have the cake and I failed. Please don't bother to custom order cakes from here. You get a better looking cake from the showcase. I Went into @BJsWholesale in bronx terminal the cashier was soooooooooooo nice She had patience for years because my mother was moving so slow and so was the lady before us. She placed the scanned items back into the cart neatly & didn't rush us nor the family before us, even held the shopper behind us cart while he ran and got something (he waited his turn again, he didn't skip the line because his things were there). I offered her a cash tip, she refused and thanked me. Terrible location. Rude manager (Said his name is Jose) didn't help me, walked away. Not enough carts. Rude employees. Best employees are at the front door, in the bakery, and about 1/2 the women that help at cashier spots. Food quality is very poor. I guess since most customers are black, African, etc that BJs home office dumps the trash food at this location and doesn't check for customer service. Also, they play corny music, no rnb, blues, reggae, reggaeton, African music. Most customers are black, African or Latino, but this location plays music that most of the customers don't like. But who cares? No one, we've complained about this location before, but head office doesn't care. We need a picket or strike or to get some media coverage then maybe BJs will take note. read more

BJ's fills a vital gap in the bulk purchases area and presents some competition to Costco in the relative areas of Harlem, upper Manhattan and the Bronx. Having said that, this particular location could greatly improve by rotating stock so that expired items, rotting produce and the occasional vermin are not so prevalent. These problems arise from the number of customers who "help" themselves to "tasting samples" as they shop. This is the only BJ's that I've ever been to that did not have samples available for customers. However, I did not think that people would open containers to feed on (looking at you family of 4 who ate that whole pack of croissants!!) So yeah, someone should look into that. This location offers services of a deli counter, bakery (featuring sheet cakes for celebrations), a butcher station, dairy, skin care and small household goods and electronics. There is also a Dunkin Donuts outpost by the registers, next to the bathrooms. The membership area is to the left of the entrance and can provide you with the coupon/promotional booklet. Parking is not free but can be validated of shopping at certain stores. If you utilize car service, know in advance that the shopping plaza does not welcome drivers to enter it's parking/idling areas. Oddly enough, you will have to assertively notify a myriad of taxi drivers that you do not require their services when leaving BJ's. This place is useful for what it is and offers but requires an attentive shopper to make the cost of membership worthwhile. Reading all of the bad experiences that people had (and STILL have) with this store, I would never go out of my way to shop there. It's not worth the aggravation. Especially when there have been many negative experiences with the food (moldy strawberries and rotten vegetables) and the horrific length of time spent on check-out lines. I understand that there are times when store CAN get crowded, but when you have employees standing around and gossiping--instead of doing their jobs OR assisting where needed--it turns customers off. This is why you'll find full carts with food just sitting around in aisles. You know customers are out of carts, no one should be chasing behind other customers who have a cart on their way to their vehicle, and begging, or even paying for a cart. This is insane, and it's the management at this location who refuse to get off their arse and be sure that carts are in the location. But the head office is also responsible. Clearly, they could view the video footage and see that insufficient carts are in the location. Just had the most wonderful shopping experience at this BJ's location!! Came here because they had the potting soil I needed for my new trees. Paulisa sprung into action helping us looking for the soil. Paulisa then pulled Tyrone and the manager, Solomon in for the search and when we realized the soil was up top on a high shelf, Solomon offered to pull it down for us. Michelle who was tidying up the clothing section said some encouraging words to help us find the soil. This really looked like teamwork at its best. This is the worst bjs. I had to stalk people And follow them to their cars for a cart. None of the carts are cleaned yet this is the most infected neighborhood of Covid 19 in the bronx. This location is the worst serving black and brown communities both in Harlem and South Bronx, sadly not meeting expectations to the public that keep making them money to stay open. I experienced my cell being mis placed and suffered the consequences for not having mobile checking in as normal. I suffered a long wait time for online pick up, customer service that rejects, human contact or communication with out an electronic check in. Was almost run over by skid full of cans of soda and misinformed when I try to cancel my online order. Don't bother ordering delivery. If the drivers think your order isn't worth delivering, you'll be waiting for it for a couple of days. Don't bother calling the store for anything, no one answers. This is the worst BJ's Wholesale Club in the entire chain (and I have been to about 15 different outlet across the United States.) Problems start in the parking garage. It is inexpensive to park there, which is good, only $3, however the majority of the shopping carts are locked up in the outskirts of the garage (presumably because the BJ's staff is either reluctant to staff the lot with cart collectors or those tasked to do the job are unwilling). Note: On more than one occasion I have requested of management that the shopping carts be liberated for my use. On two occasions my request was met with a "Certainly." On at least two occasions I was told that the locked up carts were damaged or that they were immobilized by customers attempting to steal them (they had crossed the threshold of some line that caused a brake to engage); I'm not clear on why the store did not disengage the brake if it is not the earlier issue with not wanting to staff the lot. Inside, the shopping experience is not much better. For six weeks, Half & Half, I was told, was out of stock. I came to find out that it was not ordered. There is NO-ONE putting away the items that people bring to the checkout that they later realize they don't want. Hence, the cash-out areas are, on top of every display, under the checkout conveyor belts, on the floors, all over the place, is overfowing with unwanted merchandise. Adding insult to injury... In spite of the fact that this store could have lines twenty customers deep (no exaggeration), with no room to move for carts because there is all of this unwanted merchandise discarded EVERYWHERE, management never sees fit to open more than half the registers. These issues happen every single weekend, whether it is holiday time or regular time of year. The store is an absolute disgrace. read more

We used self check out which froze on us 5 times. This was all after waiting on a line for 45 min. Ppl who had way over 10 items were on the wrong line and there was no direction and no direction. When I tried using my coupons the machine did not allow me. All the employees were eager to go on break and never went the extra mile. They had no support from management. When I approached the manager John C. who was wandering all over the place but the register, he in turn had absolutely nothing to say. He needs to get fired! No justification for the inadequate behavior. He does not have proper training to run this place. This is by far the absolute worse experience Ive ever had at any BJ store. On top of which most of the items were not stocked. This was a complete waste of time. For the record Ppl work hard for their money. Its absurd to get treated this way. Horrible experience with BJs ordering online vu is the app. APparentkybit ends up with the worst seetbuce availed on this planet. I stra acart are the ones apparently doing the shopping for you and delivering. Theere is no such indication on the BJs app! As a result, you cannot apply any of the online coupons you clip. I ended up with online ordering ing bc I no longer have a car. But thank you BJs, I will not renew my membership and I will never ever place orders with Instracart. I will go to my local supermarket whom I'm sure will deliver to my home. Sadly, it's a win to another chain corporation like Key Foods, not to a family business. But it is what it is. I was refused to be transferred to speak with a supervisor. I spoke to BJs and they said that since the order was not placed with them, even though I placed it via their app, they cannot see the order nor the coupons. So it's like Instracart "hacked" BJs and you, the customer don't know it till after the fact. So I'm done with both. When I'll get a new car, I'll be a Costco client. In regards to the online services, apparently they do whatever they want and never have an answer when your order is completely wrong and you are charged with substitutions for a ridiculous price when you clearly state on the order as well as the text message to NOT make substitutions. It makes no sense when the customer service rep claims that it's whatever their system states but that seems unclear to me since I only have this problem at this location when ordering the 2 hour delivery. So this time I will be calling out a supposed employee named "Zenon P" who decided to replace my items with completely different items and name brands which cost way more than my original products after KNOWING that my order distinctly stated NO substitutions and she did NOT receive permission through text to substitute and charge me. As for whoever was the service rep that answers the phone and was completely unhelpful and quick to get me off of the phone at 10:40am today, you are another reason why I will be canceling this service! Hopefully, BJs can get the Bronx team some service training or something bc this is horrible. I have shopped at several BJ's, and this one in the Gateway Mall is by far the WORST one. The checkout lines are ridiculously long - often 1 1/2 hours long. The cashiers are inattentive, make lots of mistakes, and go slow as molasses. Today I bought 2 blocks of feta cheese at $11 each and the cashier charged me for three. When I went back to her for a refund she told me she couldn't help me and that I had to wait in yet another very long line at customer service to get the refund. So instead, I went to the back of the store and just got a third block of feta cheese so the bill would be correct. The BJ's location in Marble Hill 236th Street is much less crowded and somewhat better. Go there instead if you can. Or better yet, go to Costco! I shop at Costco and even though there are long lines the checkout process is efficient and fast. It's so much better than BJ's in every possible way. I will not be renewing my BJ's membership, even though it is within walking distance of my home. I'd rather drive to Costco. read more
