I went to review the menu to see if I missed something, but nowhere on the menu does it suggest that there would be 4 other things on my sandwich that I didn't ask for. Just a suggestion, but add those other ingredients to the menu so I know to ask for them to be left off.

When our dinner arrived, we were both just in awe. They were nice thick steaks cooked to perfection! We ended up taking most of the steak home and had 2 more meals from it! I first came to Willow Bend for lunch in December when I first traveled to Van Wert. I ate lunch with people from the company during the interview/recruitment process and I was impressed by the service and the delicious food. The fact that I got a social membership as part of my joining the company was a perk and certainly a reason why I started working for the company I am in now. I easily could have seen myself coming here to eat... place is nice... classy, and again the food is delicious! I have come a few times since then, leaving it as a place for special occasions including for when I found out I got the house I am currently living at. The waitresses and bar tenders are always friendly. Just love this place. I have eaten various items on this menu, I will focus on my favorites that I've had: 1) Asian Boneless Wings. I love wings, it's one of my favorite things to eat... but I am not a fan of boneless wings. I am a traditionalist and a bit of a snob when it comes to this. These wings, though, I will make an exception for my dislike of boneless wings. These wings which are breaded and covered in a sweet and spicy hoisin oriental sauce... is perfect. It expertly blends spicy and sweet so much, I don't care if they are boneless. 2) Baked Potato Soup. I love this kind of soup, and this is one of the better versions I've had. Especially good during a cold day! 3) Peach-Apple Glazed Pork Chop Ribeye. Another exception to my normal rules of food. I like pork chops with bone... I had boneless. These chops are so juicy... it doesn't matter! It's a bit sweet... almost too sweet for my taste but it just straddles that line... I could eat this over and over 4) 12 oz. Texas Ribeye. This is a big steak! It's a delicious, hearty-cut ribeye with a dried pepper and coffee rub seasoning, char-grilled to perfection... i normally can't finish a 12 oz... I did when I came here! I just couldn't put down my fork! Honorable mention: bread... allegedly made out of veggies? Waiter and manager didn't know which... still that's pretty good... and the bread was warm and soft... and with some butter.... mmmmm! I also feel I should mention that yes there is a golf course attached to this... haven't played and don't know how so I can't opine on that. Moreover, they do have events. I haven't been to one but I may attend the next one since they are bringing a comic... surf and turf dinner included in price. Willow Bend therefore is a great place to both eat and have some fun! I am super happy I am a member of such a wonderful country club! Never saw myself ever becoming a country club guy... but life has a way of surprising you! If you are in the area, join!

As our weekend wound down, we all decided we wanted to go out for a special dinner. The suggestion came to check out Ron Lahody's Trust Your Butcher Steakhouse. It's about four blocks, easily within walking distance for most and with street parking around for those not able to walk that distance, from the Courtyard and I have to admit I was in for something a bit more premium. Lahody grew up around the meat business, though entered it a bit later after some time in the Marines, graduating from Ball State, working in the family business, and then spending 22 years in home remodeling. Finally, he opened Lahody meats in 2008 and then years later made it to the actual steakhouse business. Lahody still owns Lahody Meats in Muncie, recently opened a steakhouse in Anderson, and yet this spot is the original. As a wheelchair user, I was definitely looking for something wheelchair friendly. Downtown Muncie tends to be older and you can never be certain. I'd gone wheeling around the area the day before and was pretty sure this would be safe. We made our reservation for the end of our work day and then headed over to the steakhouse. I instantly fell in love with the place. It's intimate yet finely decorated. It has the traditional steakhouse vibe with a wood, warm environment, a nicely done bar area, and a couple spots that were clearly made for accessibility. We were placed in one of those booth/tables - small yet nicely sized and none of us ever felt over-cramped. I sat at the end of the booth while my friends took the inside seats. Our server, whose name I have unfortunately forgotten, was wonderful from beginning to end. The young woman was very friendly and helpful. Service was nicely paced, attentive, and never intrusive. It's worth noting that while you can eat somewhat modestly here, and they do have specials, this really is a higher-end steakhouse designed for premium dining. We ordered a couple appetizers at $15 each - candied bacon and green tomatoes. I had never tried candied bacon and kind of fell in love with it. My two peers enjoyed the green tomatoes. My peers enjoyed alcohol, a couple brews each with a solid variety available, and I enjoyed my usual unsweetened iced tea. We all ordered steaks, a definite rarity for me. One peer went for filet mignon. Myself and the other for a New York Strip. You get two sides with a steak. I saw they had roasted potatoes, an absolute favorite of mine, and I doubled an order for my two sides. Lahody himself was in-house. He's an older gent, silver-haired yet impeccably dressed. He was introducing himself to customers and sitting at the end of the bar when I left. When he thanked you for coming, the gratitude felt sincere. Service? Top-notch. Accessibility? I didn't visit the restroom, however, everything was accessible and comfortable. The steak? Oh my, I haven't had a steak this good in a long time. It was cooked as ordered and prepared beautifully. The roasted potatoes were nicely seasoned and simply sublime. This was a definite splurge for me, however, as we were celebrating finishing up a non-profit film it felt like a beautiful way to celebrate with friends in an environment where I felt welcome. There's no question I'll return.
