    Bread and garlic toast basket
    Mary W.

They started us off with a nice basket of bread and garlic toast that came along with our drinks. For drinks, the cocktail menu looked delicious but we both went for craft beers. The craft beer selection wasn't large but what was available was unique and tasty. We started with the stuffed mushrooms app which came out quickly. Note: we got so much food with our entree we didn't need an app, but... The mushrooms were large, firm, fresh, and mild in flavor. The stuffing was flavorful and the cheese... thick and gooey. We also got a bowl of French onion soup. The soup was definitely a stand out. While the broth had a rich beefy flavor, it didn't overpower the nice flavor of the onions. Pair this with the dense piece of French bread, which didn't got soggy, and ample melted cheese and yes, a stand out dish. Most if not all the entrees come with a quaint relish tray of potato salad, pea salad, and carrot salad. Don't skip the carrots!! Carrots are my least favorite, but this stuff is delicious. Save a few bites for the end of the meal. It's slightly sweet and a nice palate cleanser. We also received a side salad of crisp and fresh greens with a delicious blue cheese dressing. I ordered the shrimp entree and choose the baked, seafood stuffing version with a side of grilled asparagus. The shrimp were huge and very fresh. The stuffing has to be homemade and was cooked perfectly with the shrimp. My husband got an off menu special, 10 oz, medium, Wagyu sirloin and baked potato. The Wagyu was silky, juicy, and melted in your mouth. It was cooked to a perfect medium.

Bread basket. The garlic toast is amazing.

Please note as of 2020, the Steer Barn has changed owners and the name is now Boone's Steer Barn. We were a group of 6 who asked for a side room as we were going to be a long time socializing and playing dominoes as a family. First off, our server was TOP NOTCH. She was friendly, accommodating, and attentive. We didn't want for anything. We can be a large group with questions and needs and she answered and met every one with a smile. There is a full bar that has nice variety, including local wine and beer selections. The local beer is quite good and worth a try if you like local crafts. You will get a bread basket with soft bread and butter and crispy garlic toast. The garlic toast is delicious! We asked for another basket because we couldn't stop nibbling on the garlicky, buttery goodness. Next comes the trio of relishes. Selections include peas and peanuts, cottage cheese, carrot salad, potato salad, broccoli salad, and more. We had two with 6 different selections since we had a large party. All choices were fresh and tasty. Many dinners come with a side salad, which was a nice selection of crisp, fresh greens. It wasn't swimming in dressing, which was nice. Let's discuss my main course. I had the coulotte steak. I'm a steak eater and I was surrounded by steak eaters. I've had steak in some pretty fancy places and paid a good amount for incredible steak. Not even the most expensive steak on the menu, I can tell you this steak was one of the single best steaks I've ever had. It is local beef. They truly live up to the name "Steer Barn". My medium was cooked to absolute perfection. It was seasoned perfectly to compliment yet not overpower the flavor of the beef. The sweet potato was hot, fresh, and delicious. As if all that food wasn't enough, we shared peanut butter cake and German chocolate cake; both rich and delicious. Two of us, more food than we *should* eat, 3 beers, and high quality food with large portions. Our bill was less than $50. Well worth the quality, service, and experience. Go to Boone's Steer Barn. You wont be disappointed.

Empty plate of a $27 .00 20 oz medium rare steak that was way over priced! Luke warm and wasn't 10 oz by far! !

Well we came up to upper Sandusky to grab a couple things. Stopped at the Steer Barn to eat , we like to try different restaurants . If you want a mediocre meal for $$$$$$ come on to the steer barn. $27 bucks for what supposed to been a 10 oz steak! Luke warm hard bake potato. Surprise that the broccoli and Alfredo noodles were good not hot but Luke warm as well! Sweet tea I didn't care for didn't even finish the glass. My beautiful wife got the shrimp she said it was good but her fry's were cold and broccoli was like warm. The desserts were good I had the cheesecake wife had the custard thing I can't say lol. They was tasty ! The waitress was awesome and helpful she was a sweetheart! But if you want a way overpriced meal go here for what you can get at Dennys cheaper! Your eating in a barn that it looked ok to a point. Enter look wonderful then the dining room as old carpet. It would been better with hardwood foods to go with the barn theme. Bar looked good to what I seen as well. For only 2 of us we got two dinners and dessert almost $90 couple of pennies away!!

Our servers and trainee were polite, but the bar drinks and food were inexcusable for a pricey dinner service. Gordon Ramsay would've been screaming. 1) Everything took forever to come out. It was 2 hours from being seated to being served entrees. We had a large group (18), but the restaurant was not busy at the time we were eating, with only a handful of other tables occupied. Our servers claimed that the bartender and kitchen staff were both new, but I have no way to verify that. 2) My wife and I ordered the vegetarian dishes, which turned out to both be completely absurd. $40 for "Mushroom Risotto" that had either been cooked without any sauce whatsoever or thoroughly mummified under a heat lamp while the other dishes were being prepared. It was crispy! Risotto is, by every acceptable measure, not crispy. The veggie burger was somehow more depressing, but was edible - in the same way that Soylent is food. A pale, dry, flavorless rice patty, with lettuce and a slice of tomato, on a decidedly *not* Brioche bun. Just use an Impossible burger or Beyond burger, at least those are expensive enough to justify the cost of the dish! 3) My bar drinks, both Lemon Drops (as listed on the menu!) came in different styles of glasses and were very different pours. The 4 kids at our tables that ordered Shirley Temples received what could be charitably called "a variety of recipes" with some having cherries, some not, and immediately sparking arguments between them. Overall, the service could not save what turned out to be a disappointment for our entire extended family. Flee, and do not return.

My parents ordered the Prime Rib for $54 each. They were very generous cuts of meat but unfortunately not the most tender or flavorful. I ordered the Blackened Grouper and it was good but for $50 the portion size was a little small. The restaurant itself is very dated, 80's or 90's at best. Time for a refresh. The best part of the meal was our server, Selena. She was very nice.

As a Pescetarian in Northeast Ohio I have meaning to try Jolly Roger Seafood House for a while,…read morewell I finally got there and the big question is why I waited so long. Jolly Roger is located in Port Clinton right on Lake Erie; I was expecting something ordinary or just a bit dated and boy was I wrong. The building is very modern and clean from the outside, white and angular with big windows. Inside white walls, rough hewn wooden tables and just the right amount of decor makes for a modern seaside feel, casual but also classy. The setup is fast casual, you order and pay up front at the counter, get a number for your table and then get your own drink at the service station. The menu is understandably very heavy on fish and seafood with a couple of other items. While there are the expected fried fish meals, but also oysters, shrimp and salmon, salads and even some tacos. The reason I came was of course for the fried fish, I decided on the Perch and Chips, which is $18. I grabbed some water, hot sauce and lemon and settled onto a table. The meal was brought out fresh and hot by a food runner in a couple of minutes. The meal was 4 nice sized perch fillets on top of a generous portion of fresh waffle fried potatoes with a side of tarter sauce. The fish were excellent, fresh and perfectly fried with a nice crispy cornmeal crust around the delicately fish; moist with a slight sweetness and perfect texture. The waffle fries were exceptional, fried to a crisp outside and tasty inside; usually fries at a seafood place are an afterthought, here they actually are well worth getting and eating. Even the tarter sauce was very nice, nothing special but creamy with a nice pickle contrast to add a little extra flavor. Usually when I see a place that has been around this long and has great reviews I am a bit let down when I give them a try; Jolly Rogers Seafood House exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Although set up as a fast casual restaurant with a typical fried seafood menu, the actual restaurant feels more upscale and modern with a great inside and a very nice patio looking out onto Lake Erie. The food is not cutting edge, but it is expertly prepared and delicious. Prices are moderate with large portions for your money. Some of the best fried perch and waffle fries I have had. I will be back any time I am in the area, a very high recommendation as long as you are looking for fish or seafood, go and enjoy.

We waited 45 minutes to get a salad, it was a Caesar salad salad and they were already out of Romain dressing at 7 PM on a Friday night. We had a Caesar salad salad with spring mix instead... No big deal. The portions were huge, but our dinner came in an hour and 15 minutes after we sat down. It was painfully slow, I will say our waitress was apologetic and helpful. And I know that it was busy, but it's really no excuse for it to look so dirty. It only takes a minute to sweep under a table after a party leaves. The bathroom was deplorable, there was water on the floor and muddy footprints everywhere. The napkins on the ground around the tables along with discarded french fries and shrimp tails were a bit gross. The food is five star, the rest... ehhhhh
