A local…read moredowntown told me to make sure to tell them while buying a watermelon to pick me a good one and I will never return if they won't. I stopped at one of the stands spoke to a younger guy and asked him to please find me the sweetest one they have doesn't matter the size. He went and picked the biggest one... meanwhile I was having a chat with the lady at the same stand. I asked her again will that be a sweet one? I guess she felt bad and told the guy that it will be pink inside... she went and picked me another one herself. The one she picked was a winner! One of the most delicious sweetest watermelons I've ever had! So yeah if you go make sure you insist on them picking you a sweet one! Unless you know how to pick it yourself

It's way more "manageable" than bigger H-E-Bs, & while they might not have the obscure organics or artisanal offerings of a Central Market or other H-E-B's, this store is a hidden gem. The shelves are always stocked, the aisles are always clear, & the associates are always happy & quick to help. I pretty much know where everything is, but the few times I've wandered aimlessly looking for something, fellow shoppers -- mostly older & wiser -- have helped me find whatever it is I'm hunting down. I've always preferred small grocery stores to large ones, & I really have a soft spot for this one. Maybe because I grew up in the area, or maybe I just like how leisurely a shopping trip here is; I enjoy my time spent here, & I think it's a nice change of pace from the Walmarts & Targets of the world. A pro-tip: the H-E-B app is a great help for a store as condensed as this one (& any H-E-B in general). It tells you aisle by aisle if they have something you want in stock, so you can save time, gas, & energy if you need something in a pinch.

Stopped by on the way thru town to see if they had Lysol in the can. Was told it was a company…read morepolicy not to sell the Lysol to the public because they needed it to sterilize the carts. Dollar General is a big chain and should be able to afford the commercial grade disinfectant just like all the other name brand stores and should not limit the public from purchasing cans. This place is always a wreck so my guess is upper management is too lazy to serve their customers as they should. Wish I didn't even have to give them one star.

There are ALWAYS store dollies and carts in the way. This would normally be understandable if a store was doing inventory, but I've been numerous times (I have a family member at a nursing home and sometimes make quick trips when we need something.), and this store is constantly in disarray. In all honesty, I try to avoid this store as much as possible. :(

Great Find! Go!…read more An endangered species lives here. Caring! The place is full of it and love. Everything in the place is made with copious amounts. As with most fantastic finds,this was an accident. In town next door for BBQ when I saw the sign and decided to check it out. Walked away with the most delicious sourdough Italian loaf I've ever had. Made with Parmesan, Romano, Parmigiana Reggiano, rosemary and other herbs. It was hot out of the over and the aroma was astonishing. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Luling.

This bakery really IS swoon worthy! They have the most delicious cookies and breads! I bought two…read moreloaves of sourdough and a few of the sourdough cookies! They were absolutely delicious! I was even able to purchase a bit of their starter! The starter has been so freaking great! I live quite a ways away from them, so this has allowed me to get into my "sourdough era" and start making breads, scones and muffins! Their starter is really really nice! Everyone who works there is almost as sweet as the cookies they sell, they're helpful and really nice to talk to. I didn't get a photo of the breads I bought, so I'll include a photo of my very first sourdough bread I ever made!
