The girl at front desk that stepped away just continued to talk to other staff and never walked back over to speak to me. I waited around for a bit without so much as an acknowledgement, hello, etc just nothing as if I was invisible. I already had my heart set on a lotus flower because I loved the symbolism behind it, but I also let Shelby know that if he thought another design would work better as a cover-up, I was completely open to his professional opinion. He agreed the lotus would be a great choice, and we talked about incorporating color into the design. He was genuinely excited about the project, and he absolutely executed it beautifully. The appointment itself was relaxed, professional, and took about an hour. Shelby explained everything throughout the process, including the possibility that some of the original tattoo could faintly "ghost" through during healing and that, if it did, he'd happily touch it up at no charge. I really appreciated his honesty and the fact that he stands behind his work. On top of that, the atmosphere was great. He had an awesome playlist going and even introduced me to a band I'd never heard before--The Teskey Brothers (check them out!)--which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I couldn't be happier with the final result. He took a tattoo that no longer represented who I am and transformed it into something beautiful and meaningful. The lotus symbolizes growth, resilience, and new beginnings, making it the perfect choice for this new chapter of my life. It's only Day 1, but I already love it.
