The most important thing to know about this shop is that people have been coming here since the 80's, and bringing their children to get their lobes pierced here, specifically here. The history of Zebra is incredibly inspiring to me as someone who has recently entered the body modification industry and is learning how to manage a business with care myself. I am especially touched by the consideration towards families and children, as there is a play corner for small children in the waiting room. There is a pleasantly high staff to customer ratio, and it is evident that much consideration has been placed on all the different aspects of a body modification appointment. It's almost weird to me. I got my own first piercing (lobes) in Russia (where I grew up) by an uninformed nurse working in a cosmetic med spa, with a piercing gun. I performed my second lobe myself, with a sewing needle I ran through a lighter flame a couple times. To find myself at Zebra, such a beautiful, calm-yet-still-inspiring-and-burgeoning-with-life piercing studio, it would have been surreal, if it weren't such a grounding experience, too. I got two piercings during my visit: a navel piercing with a short bar, and a tragus piercing with a pretty nautical star stud I was reassured would not catch on my hair. Each piercing was $40, not including the price of the jewelry. My piercer, Tiara, had great bedside manner, communicating exactly what was to happen and at which point, as well as why. "I will mark your tragus first, then your navel, and we will pierce the navel first, as the markings might rub off in that area if we pierce it second." She guided me when to prepare for the moment of piercing with a deep breath, and also was very clear about potentially ambiguous moments, to prevent any sense of "piercing-surprise". I would describe my own experience of pain as 3/10 for the navel and 4/10 for the tragus, but mostly because the tragus was second, and I could not only feel the actual piercing of the cartilage, but also hear it, which wasn't something I had considered. I am also the kind of person to describe scarification as a 2/10 and sending an email as a 9/10, so take my pain ratings with a grain of salt. I can't wait to be back for my downsize follow-up :) Thank you all so much for creating such a lovely environment. Our pediatrician actually recommended this place because it's where she took her own daughter, which immediately made me feel more comfortable. They really have the process down -- you line up, pick out your jewelry, fill out the forms, and then relax in their very IG-worthy lounge while you wait. Definitely a different experience from when I got my first piercings decades ago at the mall with a piercing gun! The line before opening honestly felt like waiting for a celebrity event. What a wonderful experience for my 6 year old daughter and myself! We came in on Valentine's Day, because she had been so excited to get her ears pierced and chose this day to come. Mari was very informative about the different types of jewelry they carry, and what she recommend. She was extremely knowledgeable, and took the time to explain all of our options. They have a great variety of high quality jewelry, which was important to us since my daughter has very sensitive skin. I decided to get my nose pierced as well to make it a fun Valentine's Day experience, and so my daughter wouldn't feel alone. After checking in, we didn't wait long to choose our jewelry. The waiting area is adorable, with kid friendly entertainment and very cool decor they even have a cool red phone booth, which was such a fun touch! We waited about 30 minutes while my daughter had numbing cream applied (which takes about 30 minutes to work), and then we were called back for our piercings. That's when we met Cicada! Cicada is an absolute doll! She was so sweet, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made my daughter feel completely comfortable and not scared at all. Throughout the entire process, she kept checking in to make sure my daughter was okay. She made everything go smoothly, and it truly couldn't have been a better experience. They also do something really cute here for the kids, where after their ears are pierced they receive a certificate with their name on it. My daughter's ears are healing beautifully, and we are both so happy with our piercings and our overall experience here! read more

Jae checked me in and answered all question. Her customer service was excellent and very through. She even had me check in after my procedure of getting addition ear piercing after many years. The tech Tiara gets 5 stars as she spent all the time I needed to place and replace the perfect spots for the new pierces knowing my ears are not level. Both ladies get 5 stars. I've been a customer of Zebra's since the very first location. So happy they came to Walnut Creek. Every time I visit, the experience is always pleasurable (and a bit painful,lol). Today I needed to have my piercings put back in after surgery. I lost my original bar so I needed a replacement as well. The wait was only about 15 minutes after completion of the transaction. I was helped today by a lovely artist, Tiara. She was very knowledgeable about piercings and helpful with my next piercing. She was very gentle with the replacement and made sure they were secure. The tattoo shop is very clean and beautiful decorated. There are several rooms to receive services. They have a wide variety of jewelry for purchase, as well as cleaning supplies for aftercare. The seating area across the walkway has the bathroom and huge area to hang out while you wait your turn. read more

Great experience here so far! They don't offer appointments- it's all walk-in- so we decided to get here right at opening. Even so, there was a long line of people but the wait time wasn't bad at all! We met with someone very quickly who walked us through different jewelry options and associated costs. While waiting, there's a really cute lounge with lollipops, couches, etc across the way. Also really helps that it's in the middle of downtown, so a lot of other things to do in the meantime. Most organized, friendly, informative piercing shop I've ever been to. They know their stuff, they are so welcoming, and guided me through my daughter's first piercing. Getting my daughter's ears pierced the right way was priority (not with a gun at Claire's or piercing pagoda) and after a referral from someone a while back I had to check it out. We were not disappointed. When we walked up, the security was really friendly and guided us to stand under the number as it's walk in only, no appointment. We were greeted by a young woman who was straight forward with all steps of setting up the piercing from picking an earring that wouldn't irritate my daughter's ears to after care instructions. I followed her to the register where she told me she would pick the perfect piercer for my sweet almost 5 year old baby girl, John. I cannot say enough kind things about John. He made my daughter and I feel so comfortable and relaxed. Even had a little trick to get her to be distracted by wiggling her toes. My baby girl was a little brave one, barely flinched, and definitely didn't come close to crying, but couldn't have done it without John's calm and caring demeanor. Came here on a Friday around 2pm to get my girl's ears re-pierced. We brought her old earrings so we only had to pay for the ear piercing ($60). The girl who helped us at the front was friendly and patient to all my questions since I don't want my girl to deal with over-cleaning problems again. Then we paid and waited for a good 20 some minutes. The process was quick. We finished in less than an hour and didn't have to pay extra for parking across the street.
