The most relaxing, peaceful stay! We love NSB and have frequented this beach for years. Each time we've pretty much stayed somewhere different. There are a good amount of decent places, but Black Dolphin Inn tops the charts! The house itself is a beautiful, Spanish style home with a red roof, romantic strung lights, and a view of the inter-coastal. Our room was spacious, extremely clean (I'm very particular) and had two balconies! We even saw a dolphin one afternoon. When you check in, you will receive your key, go on a tour of the Inn, and choose your next morning's breakfast. Each day they post the three breakfast options and have you select which time you would like your meal delivered (8,8:30, or 9). Yes, they deliver it to your room! Should you want to eat in another part of the property, just let them know! The first day I chose a blueberry compote french toast with ham, fruit, a pastry and OJ. Day two I ordered a traditional breakfast with eggs, cheesy potatoes, ham, a croissant and fruit. Day three I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel with a hash brown, pastry, fruit, and OJ. Wow!! They were plentiful portions, made fresh (I watched her cook!) and all pretty yum! My favorite was the bagel, by far! All in all, the bed and breakfast was so special that we wanted to spend time there beyond just going to bed and waking up in the morning. I can't wait to go back for more time to curl up with a book on the patio or relax by the fire pit. If you're looking for somewhere to stay that is close to downtown, a quick drive to the beach, and away from any commotion, this is your spot. It's a retreat owned by some lovely locals that will put a smile on your face! Thank you Black Dolphin!

Unfortunately this place just didn't do it for me. It didn't compare to any other B&B we have been to in the past. We were super disappointed. We paid $228 a night after the weekly discount rate. My first problem was obviously the price. The room we stayed in is averaged at roughly $275 a night. It doesn't make sense. You have no privacy. No view of the ocean, you get cars and a river view. The WiFi was very slow. It took a while to load anything and mostly used LTE the whole trip. You can hear literally everything as the rooms are so close to one another. The breakfast was something we were really excited about. We ended up getting two mediocre breakfasts, an omelette and french toast. Both we super basic and bland. The way that it was packaged reminded me of hospital meals. I hated that the latest you can get your breakfast was at 9AM. We're on vacation, we wanna sleep in. We were told that the reason the breakfast wasn't what was advertised online was because of COVID. That didn't make much sense because restaurants are still functioning and safely serving you amazing food on glass plates with silverware. If you're open for business during the pandemic but you can't function the way you were before, then you should give COVID discounts. The owners were kind and I'm sorry to leave a bad review. The truth is, I'm just shocked. I don't know how this place has such high reviews and is constantly booked. Even the pillows were stained and the parking doesn't make sense..Would not recommend this place.

This place is very nice. But I want to warn other travelers if you are light sleepers bring ear plugs. A couple next to us decided to have LOUD sex from 3-6 am. Even my white noise couldn't drown them out. We paid a lot for this and to get such little sleep was a disappointment. The walls are very thin. Breakfast was brought to us and it was just okay. The place and view is great and very clean, but based on our experience we won't book again.

Let me start by saying the staff was wonderful especially, Patricia. The room was spotless, modern and comfortable. The location is lovely, facing the Indian River Intercoastal area with beautiful historic style houses around it. Five minute drive to the historic downtown and 10 minutes to the beach. If I were judging just the above it would be 5 stars. The next comments do take into consideration the pandemic and the problems with staffing and the supply chain issues which the management did explain the problems they have but I think other businesses are working it out so sometimes you have to operate a bit differently and think out of the box. One of the issues I didn't like and that it didn't measure up to other B&B's I have stayed it. No real snacks left out, fruit was mediocre and not fresh, but coffee bar was well done. They have a bar but no complimentary glass of wine, you had to pay $7 for a glass. I have stayed other places where you got a glass of wine and sometimes cookies or something in the afternoon. The breakfast that is offered is delivered to your room (no table in your room to sit and eat it) unless you request to pick it up and can eat anywhere in the lobby or outdoor seating area. They told this they did this when Covid started and during the height of the pandemic made sense but now most people are vaccinated and the illness is not as strong so it would be nice to bring back nice breakfast experience. The breakfast is mediocre, and if I were judging it alone, would be 3 stars. They pack it in a box and it doesn't seem like it was just cooked but perhaps prepared the night before or was before you get it. Neither one of us liked anything that was served. The whole reason we stayed at a bed & breakfast was the breakfast so this was a disappointment. We would have stayed in a hotel but the website tempted us with the breakfast. This next issue is truly beyond their control, it is an older home, beautifully refurbished but the walls are like paper and you can hear everything going on next door, even when they showered. We had some young people next door that obviously did not know how to behave in a bed & breakfast and were very loud, laughing and carrying on till at least 3 in the morning. Luckly they checked out the next day of our stay.

This is probably the cutest place I've ever visited. Had no clue it was even in New Smyrna even though I've been visiting throughout the year each year! It's family owned as well. The inn is located right across from a pier and around the corner from a little walking area with cute shops and good local eats. Our room was nice and clean, very spacious too! It had a couple balconies - one overlooking the little grassy yard with string lights that turn on during the evening. Makes for a romantic view for coffee in the morning out there. Upon arrival we were greeted and checked in. I didn't plan anything for this visit lol so I didn't know what to expect when we walked in but the whole time I kept telling my partner how pretty I thought the place is lol. They also take breakfast orders that they deliver to you in the morning at your desired time that was the cutest thing! We got a little tour so we didn't have to walk around looking lost, which I was very happy with as well. Was also surprised with a bottle of wine and a "welcome back" card, since my partner had visited prior to. Anyway, my mind isn't organized so I know this review is all over the place. All I have to say is, 12/10 would come back again.

Blue dolphin inn as you drive up

A charming bed and breakfast on the river in new Smyrna beach where each room has a private balcony offering views of the waterfront or a tranquil garden. The rooms are large and very nicely decorated with well appointed bathrooms. The comfortable bed greeted us after a long day at Daytona and ormond beach. The owners personally serve a wonderful breakfast delivered to your room or the outdoor area of choice and Jennifer, the innkeeper ensures your stay is perfect and memorable. We will be back!

The Black Dolphin Inn lives up to it's reputation and photos. The history and the charm of this inn makes it so special. The private dock is perfect to watch for dolphins or spend the afternoon fishing! Walking around the property you can tell it is loved and extremely well kept! Looking forward to our future stays!

And they are good but they are the most popular and fill up fast so the wait the tends to be un-reasonable and borderline on bearable. Dinner is not meant to be eaten that early just to avoid the crowds. At RT you CAN get a reservation and the staff is friendly, kind & attentive. I am the type to never order anything on the "Chef's special menu" but the ambience was so warm and inviting, I lost my head a little-bit. I'm glad we did we order the Crustini and it was next level. I thought I was eating on south beach for a moment. Flavors were intense, but not overpowering & it all complemented one another. If you are there make sure you try this appetizer. The bread for the Crustini was fresh not overly hard or stale. The main course I had was perfect. I had the steak au poivre. The sear on the meat was spot on and the sauce was not overly peppery. It let the steak do its job with the seared crust. Chefs veggies were good and the red bliss mash was velvet, smooth. The cocktails here also are amazing! I'm not just saying that my wife order something called the beatnik. You can taste the fresh beet juice. You can tell there was somebody back there pressing them freash. You know how beets usually stains your teeth? This did not! Overall fabulous experience. We even took our kids here and they had excellent choices for kids menu. Very happy over all. We did not try dessert. However we notice on the menu they support local dessert shops in the area with their offerings. Next time we go back we will definitely try them. I hope you found this helpful buen provecho everyone

The beach access is good, the check-in at the front desk was pleasant, and the room we were in (221) was very clean and nicely designed. The room itself was also quiet and the bed / pillows were clean and comfortable. The shower head pressure was phenomenal- some of the best we've ever experienced in any hotel. The hallway was noisy at times, but late at night it was pretty quiet. The entertainment sucked - karaoke and a live performer. It was so bad, it was like being in a lounge-lizard bar. But the bar drinks were good and very friendly service. The lady playing the piano with electronic music sang off-key (a lot), but was very sweet. Get rid of the piano - it just doesn't fit the ambiance of the hotel lobby. We literally almost check ourselves out of the hotel, when we saw and heard what the entertainment was like. The pool was packed with screaming kids jumping in and out of it, until 10 PM. But at last the parents gathered them up and got them inside, which made the rest of the time out by the pool quieter and relaxing. Appreciate the front desk clerk putting us on the 2nd Floor so we would be above the little league baseball team on the 1st Floor. We skipped breakfast, because of the little league baseball team kids running around the lobby and being just kids. The room was a bit pricey, but I was able to use my AMEX rewards to save some money.

And they gave us late check out, 4pm! We grabbed our keys and parking pass and started to unload the car. The elevator floor is heavily worn- probably from fine sand on everyone's shoes. It's a bit of a hazard- easy to slip. Be careful. Our room had a partial ocean view but mostly a view of Flagler avenue, which was fine. The AC was cranking loud and hard but it kept the room at 68, where we wanted it. The shower took a few minutes to get hot, but it was great and good water pressure and it has the shower head with multiple modes. Towels were not super plush but definitely not over washed. They provided makeup remover wipes. The room was clean. They gave us two bottled waters. There was a small fridge and microwave. A hair dryer and safe in the closet. Ironing board and iron as well. We did not, however, have a tv remote! Do the tv was on and blaring. We reported it to the desk and they had one up to us within an hour. Who knows where the original remote went. Ok. Specifics. I have stayed at many springhill suites. This one had the most meager breakfast. What do I mean? Well, they only had two hot plates a day (many springhill suites have four hot plates) and they don't serve waffles all week- only on Saturday and Sunday! I was a bit sad about that. I was keen on a waffle on Monday morning after smelling them all weekend. But nope. I missed my chance. So we had scrambled eggs and either bacon or sausage every single day. No hard boiled eggs. No cut up fruit; only apples bananas and oranges. Also the butter was cold in the fridge so it was difficult to spread on toast. They have oatmeal but only 5 toppings- they did not have the sliced almonds or the chocolate chips or coconut flakes. They only had craisins, raisins, walnuts, granola, brown sugar, honey, agave and cinnamon. But I wanted almonds and chocolate chips. They had the usual yogurt and cereal and breads. Coffee was continually refreshed. The employees were out cleaning tables and refreshing the buffet and helping guests throughout breakfast. They have pool towels available at the check in area; the pool seems nice. They have a bar out there and another in the lobby. They also have a small Starbucks in the lobby but I don't think it's really a Starbucks location. They have iced water station at the lobby bar. They have ice machines on floors 2 and 4 We had a room with two queens. I loved that I had three different pillows on each bed. You could find at least one that you prefer. The bedding was nice per usual. The bed was a bit worn- I was slumping in the middle a bit. Parking was plentiful. A few spots out back and lots in the underground garage. We lost power for a little over two hours during a lightning storm. Our room stayed cool. It was set at 68 and only drifted to 71. Hot water was still available- they must have a large heater. We just opened the shades and relaxed. Power flickered on and off for awhile but finally was restored at 6:02pm. The parking garage exit gate was left in an open state so no one was trapped inside. Overall, I was pleased with the way they treat their Marriott bonvoy members. The hotel itself has a wonderful location and ample parking. The pool and beach area are so nice. The staff is truly remarkable- working hard, saying hello and checking on guests. The power outage is out of their control. I just wish the breakfast options were better- I miss the quiche, the biscuits and gravy, the seasoned potatoes, the hard boiled eggs, the spicy pepper biscuit, the cut up melon, grapes, mango, the raw spinach leaves, the croissant sandwiches, the biscuit sandwiches- there are so many options that other springhill suites have that we did not get on Saturday Sunday or Monday. Oh and the laundry facility was out of order but we were not affected by that.

When we suggested an alternate location, the answer was a "hard No"! After that, Eva went dark again (not responsive to calls, texts, etc.)!! Not until almost 13 hours before the wedding did she suggested that our guests arrive 3-4 hours early to make sure they could secure nearby parking and "hang out" and enjoy the beach prior to the ceremony.
