    Shrimp and Salmon with Grits

This is a friendly bistro in a fun small town location with good service and great food. There were multiple specials to choose from. I opted for the salmon bowl from the regular menu, and it was the perfect healthy option to pair with a draft beer.

First time here at a friend's recommendation. Small space, although I think they also have seating on the 2nd floor. Great vibe for the small town of Loudonville, OH. We ordered the short rib poutine for the 4 of us. Individually we ordered the burger of the day (nor pictured), the Reuben, and two of us got the Portabella Pinsa Melt. Pinsa is a kind of focaccia. Very nice bread. You can also have any of the sandwiches on gluten free bread. With the exception of the Reuben which didn't have enough sauerkraut, the rest was excellent. The Portabella sandwich was quite good. The addition of fresh burrata really made it quite original. Prices are competitive, service was good, parking either metered on the street or free behind the PNC bank across the street. Definitely recommend, will definitely return.

My wife, mom, and I made the drive out here to enjoy the beautiful fall day. The place was nearly empty as we arrived in between meals. We ordered a round of drinks only to find out they had no sweet vermouth to make a Manhattan. They did have a bourbon cocktail on their special menu, Forrester, so I ordered that. Not very impressed with it or a bar that does not have sweet vermouth. We ordered their fried pickles to start as well as their housemate chips. My wife and mom both decided on soups while I ordered something I've never had before, their chicken wings. The sauces served with their chicken wings were rather unique. Not something I was looking for in all honesty. I only enjoyed one of the three. Kind of hard to dip your wings in a sauce and then into blue cheese. Believe I would rather have my wings sauced. My wife and mom did not finish their soups. I taste tested both and thought they were fairly good.

    Mohican Salad

Everything was amazing. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had the fried green tomatoes (the pimento cheese on top was a game-changer), and the pretzel with cheese for starters. Honesty, I'd go here just for appetizers they were played beautifully (no photos we ate fast), and tasted better than they looked. Next between the four of us we had, mohican salad, fall brussel salad (a special), brazed stort ribs with gnocchi anf the firehouse burger. Nothing disappointed, it felt like we were at a fancy restaurant in Columbus - but we were close to home and got to wear our jeans! Atmosphere was casual, bar like, but the food was upscale. Our waitress was super kind, gave us perfect recommendations for dinner and suggested drinks too. The downeast pumpkin cider on tap was like drinking dessert. We will be back soon! I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our dinner here. Also of note: kid friendly, our under 2 year old had the best time looking out the front windows and waving to everyone.

Vegan and gluten free chocolate torte with in house made sorbet! Absolutely amazing!

This place is a hidden gem, especially for people with food allergies! So many choices for gluten and dairy free foods! The service was great and they took extra care making sure I could eat safely. Their vegan veggie soup was was hearty and delicious. I had the classic burger with a gluten free bun that actually didn't fall apart. I skipped the cheese but they do have vegan cheese. I also had a house salad with Italian dressing. My aunt had the tuna ramen bowl and it looked amazing. She said it was very filling and tasty. My uncle tried the chickpea sliders and he really enjoyed those as well. The most exciting thing for me was actually being able to eat dessert! I had a gluten free, vegan chocolate tort with sorbet made in house! It was absolutely amazing. I really wish we had places like this back in Florida. Highly recommend!

    Bavarian Pretzel

Great find on a camping weekend. The wife didn't want to cook and stopped in here. Started out with the Bavarian pretzel. 100% approved and the spicy mustard was great. I have the Rueben which was great and my wife's margarita pizza was huge, tasty too. Had a couple drinks from the menu and happy with those too. Looking forward to our next trip to Mohican to stop again.

Delicious food! Great service, my husband and I really enjoyed our meal, we will definitely be returning. Nicely decorated for Christmas time.

The Black Fork Bistro is located in a small, quaint town (Loudonville) and literally makes you feel like you just stepped into a scene from a Hallmark Christmas movie. The bistro is rather small in size, but makes you feel welcomed as soon as you step inside. While we were there, slow 50s/60s music played in the background while it snowed outside making the atmosphere feel romantic to me. I absolutely loved the feeling that I had while I was there. However, the food - shared a different story (insert pouty face). Bavarian Pretzel - The pretzel was served warm and tasted good! While we enjoyed the honey mustard sauce for dipping, we were not big fans of the cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was watered down and lacked flavor. Grown Up Grilled Cheese (waitress recommendation) - I really wanted to enjoy this based on the menu description; however, this was not good at all! The description on the menu states "Caramelized Onion, Tomato, Bacon, Brie, Cheddar, and Mozzarella on Sourdough". This sounds delicious, right? However, it was not delicious! You would think that everything would be blended and melted together to create an ooey, gooey sandwich, but that is not how the sandwich turned out. This was more of a basic sandwich layered with various cheeses versus a warm grilled cheese sandwich packed full of melted cheeses and flavor. Tomato Basil Soup (another waitress recommendation) - Just look at my picture. This was a hard no for me! Instead of a bowl of warm, creamy tomato soup - I got a bowl of stewed tomatoes. While I thought that the grilled cheese sandwich was disappointing, this topped the sandwich! Spicy Aloha Pizza (husband) - My husband enjoyed this! I am not sure if we just stopped in on an "off" night as my husband was really looking forward to stopping in at Black Fork Bistro based on other Yelp reviews (which made me feel really bad that my meal was so horrible), but hope that others are able to have a greater experience with the food here!

Amazing lunch! Ordered the tomatoe soup, shrimp tempura, Reuben sandwich with delicious homemade chips, Greek bowl with chicken. Absolutely delicious. Can't want to come again.

The polarizing reviews kind of scared us away from doing a whole dinner experience here so I'm glad…read morewe went to just the happy hour. BF and I stayed at the Landoll's Mohican castle for one night and stopped by here at around 3ish for their happy hour. It's pretty annoying that their happy hour is 3-4pm instead of a 4 or 5 but there are very limited options around here. Anyways, the menu online does not match what they currently have so I wish they would update! Thankfully I don't have any dietary restrictions or allergies, only strong preferences so the subs weren't dealbreakers. We ordered 4 things off the menu and the wings were the best. Small but perfectly crispy and already seasoned even before the sauce! I got 2 different sauces on the side to try and the garlic one was better than the ginger soy one. The French onion soup had the bread INSIDE the soup which took up a lot of real estate and soaked up all the broth. The melted cheese on top like a Kraft single instead of provolone. The shoestring fries were so skinny and tiny. The bier cheese was good and creamy but there were no chives and I had to ask for them even though that was in their description. Portions were small, prices were average but we still enjoyed our meal very much due to the intimate setting and library-like atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and helpful!

Then my nephew ordered an appetizer before dinner and she never brought it until he asked 2 times where is it. She brought it in a carry-out after we were all done eating telling him she was sorry and she took it off the bill. Mind you, it's he Birthday too! We had to ask another waitress for a water refill because she was never around. Worst experience I've ever had at a supposed to be high end restraurant. First time I never left a tip! I felt bad but if your working in a place like that, you better know your job!
