Wild mushroom pasta was definitely a 10/10. The flavor was out of this world. Would come back again and again for that. Tried the lemon cocktail (can't remember the name) was very strong & sweet. Was not a fan so opted for an IPA. No fault to their own just trying something new. Husband got the mushroom Swiss burger and said it was good! Also got the mule and it was delicious. I really appreciate how many dietary options they offer here. There are multiple gluten free and vegan bread choices, plus a vegan cheese option, which already makes this place stand out. For vegetarians, you actually have real choices instead of just one default option. You can pick between a chickpea patty, a vegan black bean burger, or a portabella mushroom, which is awesome to see. That said, I do wish the menu was clearer about what can actually be made gluten free. Even if you swap the bread, not every sandwich ends up being gluten free. For example, none of the vegetarian burger options can be made gluten free, which was disappointing and not clearly labeled. The sides were underwhelming. Sandwiches come with a pickle, which was just two thin slices, and "coleslaw" that was more like a small portion of kale with vinegar, about a quarter cup. The salmon bowl was good and came with a nice large filet, it was just very heavy on the rice. Service was a highlight. Our server was really kind, checked on us often, and was super helpful answering my questions about gluten. It is on the pricier side, which is why the small details matter more. Overall, it is still a solid spot, especially for a small town, just with a few things that could be improved. Would love to see "can be made gf" added to the menu. read more

Totally spectacular menu. Everything we had was heaven. From the apps to the entrees to the desserts, it was remarkable. We ate here on a Tursday night near closing time. The ambiance of this little bistro is very nice, from the outdoor murals to the tables and bar. Not a big place, but nostalgic in a way. The food was not your usual fare, in a good way. There is an effort here to be more upscale and gourmet, but in a casual way. Food was good, but seemed like it could be better for the price. Service was nice and attentive, but you couldn't help but notice all the staff moving around to close the place down while you were eating. First time here at a friend's recommendation. Small space, although I think they also have seating on the 2nd floor. Great vibe for the small town of Loudonville, OH. We ordered the short rib poutine for the 4 of us. Individually we ordered the burger of the day (nor pictured), the Reuben, and two of us got the Portabella Pinsa Melt. Pinsa is a kind of focaccia. Very nice bread. You can also have any of the sandwiches on gluten free bread. With the exception of the Reuben which didn't have enough sauerkraut, the rest was excellent. The Portabella sandwich was quite good. The addition of fresh burrata really made it quite original. Prices are competitive, service was good, parking either metered on the street or free behind the PNC bank across the street. Definitely recommend, will definitely return. read more

After a day of hiking ChatGPT recommended this restaurant to eat. The wait staff was timely and consistently checked to ensure our needs were met. I rehydrated with orange creamsicle soda. Hubby had beer. We started with crab cakes as they were out of the large Bavarian pretzel. Excellent real crab and lobster. There were 3 cakes. We were not pressed to order the rest of our food which was nice. I decided on a grown up grilled/toasted cheese and tomato basil soup. The sandwich came with house made chips and slaw. Too much to eat, however I am set for lunch tomorrow! The only complaint is how stiff and sore I felt after sitting for such great food! My wife, mom, and I made the drive out here to enjoy the beautiful fall day. The place was nearly empty as we arrived in between meals. We ordered a round of drinks only to find out they had no sweet vermouth to make a Manhattan. They did have a bourbon cocktail on their special menu, Forrester, so I ordered that. Not very impressed with it or a bar that does not have sweet vermouth. We ordered their fried pickles to start as well as their housemate chips. My wife and mom both decided on soups while I ordered something I've never had before, their chicken wings. The sauces served with their chicken wings were rather unique. Not something I was looking for in all honesty. I only enjoyed one of the three. Kind of hard to dip your wings in a sauce and then into blue cheese. Believe I would rather have my wings sauced. Everything was amazing. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had the fried green tomatoes (the pimento cheese on top was a game-changer), and the pretzel with cheese for starters. Honesty, I'd go here just for appetizers they were played beautifully (no photos we ate fast), and tasted better than they looked. Next between the four of us we had, mohican salad, fall brussel salad (a special), brazed stort ribs with gnocchi anf the firehouse burger. Nothing disappointed, it felt like we were at a fancy restaurant in Columbus - but we were close to home and got to wear our jeans! Atmosphere was casual, bar like, but the food was upscale. Our waitress was super kind, gave us perfect recommendations for dinner and suggested drinks too. The downeast pumpkin cider on tap was like drinking dessert. We will be back soon! This place is a hidden gem, especially for people with food allergies! So many choices for gluten and dairy free foods! The service was great and they took extra care making sure I could eat safely. Their vegan veggie soup was was hearty and delicious. I had the classic burger with a gluten free bun that actually didn't fall apart. I skipped the cheese but they do have vegan cheese. I also had a house salad with Italian dressing. My aunt had the tuna ramen bowl and it looked amazing. She said it was very filling and tasty. My uncle tried the chickpea sliders and he really enjoyed those as well. The most exciting thing for me was actually being able to eat dessert! Great find on a camping weekend. The wife didn't want to cook and stopped in here. Started out with the Bavarian pretzel. 100% approved and the spicy mustard was great. I have the Rueben which was great and my wife's margarita pizza was huge, tasty too. Had a couple drinks from the menu and happy with those too. Everything we tried here was fabulous! I had the Hibiscus Raspberry Tea (a July drink special) and I loved every sip- not too sweet and the bourbon taste was subtle. My husband had the Mohican Mule- this was the only thing we didn't absolutely love. It was fine, but not wonderful. I ordered the Turkey melt- I enjoyed each bite and the house made chips were well seasoned. I also had a side of sweet potato fries which were super fresh and came with a yummy cinnamon honey sauce. My husband ordered the smoked fried wings which came with 3 sauces but they were so good he barely dipped them. He also got a side of the bacon brussel sprouts- so good! The Black Fork Bistro is located in a small, quaint town (Loudonville) and literally makes you feel like you just stepped into a scene from a Hallmark Christmas movie. The bistro is rather small in size, but makes you feel welcomed as soon as you step inside. While we were there, slow 50s/60s music played in the background while it snowed outside making the atmosphere feel romantic to me. I absolutely loved the feeling that I had while I was there. However, the food - shared a different story (insert pouty face). Bavarian Pretzel - The pretzel was served warm and tasted good! While we enjoyed the honey mustard sauce for dipping, we were not big fans of the cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was watered down and lacked flavor. Grown Up Grilled Cheese (waitress recommendation) - I really wanted to enjoy this based on the menu description; however, this was not good at all! The description on the menu states "Caramelized Onion, Tomato, Bacon, Brie, Cheddar, and Mozzarella on Sourdough". This sounds delicious, right? However, it was not delicious! You would think that everything would be blended and melted together to create an ooey, gooey sandwich, but that is not how the sandwich turned out. This was more of a basic sandwich layered with various cheeses versus a warm grilled cheese sandwich packed full of melted cheeses and flavor. Tomato Basil Soup (another waitress recommendation) - Just look at my picture. This was a hard no for me! Instead of a bowl of warm, creamy tomato soup - I got a bowl of stewed tomatoes. While I thought that the grilled cheese sandwich was disappointing, this topped the sandwich! Spicy Aloha Pizza (husband) - My husband enjoyed this! I am not sure if we just stopped in on an "off" night as my husband was really looking forward to stopping in at Black Fork Bistro based on other Yelp reviews (which made me feel really bad that my meal was so horrible), but hope that others are able to have a greater experience with the food here! read more

Had the Peanut Butter burger, mushroom and Swiss burger and short rib Poutine that had beef,fresh cut fries, cheese curds, onions and jalapeño. It was all fantastic with excellent service. Review: Disappointing and Rude Service at Our Former Favorite Restaurant We've really loved this place over the past year and it's been our favorite spot to bring visiting family because the food has always been fantastic. Unfortunately, last night's experience really changed our view. We arrived a few minutes early for our party of five and the hostess said we could have a table marked for "parties of 5+" once our entire group arrived. When our family was parking outside, I let her know, and she acknowledged it. But as soon as we sat down--with our fifth person simply in the restroom--the hostess came over and was rude and insistent that we couldn't sit there. Both the hostess and the waitress tried to move us to a smaller table, essentially harassing us, even though we explained that our full party was there. It was extremely frustrating. Even after clarifying that we did have five people, they refused to take our drink orders until everyone was physically at the table and treated us with attitude the entire time. We spoke to the owners, but we only received a different waitress and no genuine apology. It's disappointing that our former favorite spot turned into such a letdown. read more

Hamburger tasted average more like an 8.00 /10.00 hamburger - "kick" in their monthly burger definitely wasn't there and sadly, the sweet potato fries were inedible - soggy - way too soggy to actually eat... We have been going there for years Always loved everything about it It's almost an hour drive for us Took my family to the loudenvillle Christmas market three of the groups stopped in sat a table by the bar and ordered their Christmas ale When 2 of the party tried to use the restroom they were told they were not allowed and asked to take the drinks and leave. Staying in the area around Christmas 2023 and while exploring the town we stumbled on this place and glad we did. Such a great atmosphere and service. We started the butter board, came with warm crusty bread, marinara crock and herbed butter.....YUM! I chose the creole pasta with chicken and my husband had the turkey melt with bbq season fries. Both amazing and so much food. I wish I could have tried the holiday drinks because the bartender did such a good job. I did have the peppermint mocha cheesecake, another YUM. Really loved the food but there were a few drawbacks. The burgers look like frozen patties, great descriptions on menu not what I got to eat. They never asked what temperature, so my patty came too well done. The chips are good but not fresh tasting like other places I have been to. The Brussels were not very good nor crispy. The prices are extreme for this area but the place stayed packed so they are doing something right. read more

This is our favorite restaurant! Always our first pick when we are trying to figure out where to eat. I am on a mission to try everything on the menu! I am probably half way through the menu, and I haven't found a single thing that I don't like. Everything is always fresh, hot, beautiful, and full of top notch h ingredients. We always have great service and a great experience when we visit this restaurant. It is always clean and the atmosphere is perfect. Came into town with friends for the Haunted Schoolhouse. So we had to get some dinner before the scare..Lol. We waited about 15 minutes before being seated. The place was nice and clean. We both started with a pretzel. It was good and the cheese was a good add on choice. My friend ordered a Black Fork salad with chicken and said it was Delicious!! My hubby ordered the Rueben with fries and was very happy with his sandwich. He said the fries were a little cold and chewy. I ordered the Holy Moly pizza. It was a little greasy for my liking. It was all under the crust. It had a good flavor but I didn't taste any honey on it. And it wasn't spicy at all. My hubby tried a piece and he liked it. He said what I thought was grease on the bottom was honey but it wasn't sticky like honey. Who knows??And when we got our food we were so hungry I forgot to get pictures.
