Stopped in for a light dinner with my wife and mom last night. Seating at 1720 we were paying our bill 90 minutes later. Our order? A Chicken quesadilla for my wife and I adding a side salad for me. Mom ordered a side salad and soup of the day, potato soup. Also ordered drinks...soda, unsweetened iced tea, and water. We noticed our server had one half of the dining room, 14 tables. She seemed to be doing her best, but in that 90 minutes she only checked in on us once. The salads came out after ~30 minutes and the quesadilla and soup came out at the one hour mark. Noticed the soup was being heated in a microwave. It was still cold on arrival so Mom sent it back. Into the microwave it went and returned a few minutes later. We were done with that in ~15 minutes. We ordered 2 slices of pie to go and that took another 15 minutes to arrive with the bill. No apologies as to the time it took. Not impressed at all. Entering the place was neatly decorated, high capacity and CLEAN. This was dinner time on 10-25-24, me, chicken fingers, a 3, wife walleye, a 3. We shared potato skins app- lots of bacon bits but only a half of potato's worth. Ho hum so far. The ads boast the pies to be award winning so we caved...a piece of sugar free coconut cream pie revealed a tasty filling but the crust was no different than dry, white chewy cardboard. Swiss steak was pretty good for me and my wife got the walleye and a cold baked potato and they are so busy with minimal servers it took 18 min from time of order to time we received food. It took another 10 min to get a hot baked potato. Place is clean for a busy place so kudos for that. I think it would be better to shut down more tables if servers and cooks can't keep up with everything. All in all it's a good place to eat though. read more

We love coming here when we're in town. The food is nothing to write home about but it is good and comforting. We usually get burgers and fries. The thing to write home about are the pies and the banana split. Some of the best around locally. I have been going to this place for awhile and usually the food is good I got the cube steak dinner, it came out with small portions of mashed potatoes and the steak part . It was Luke warm and the meat was so dry and had to moisen it with a1 sauce. The pie is so expensive 18 dollars for a whole one is crazy. 5.dollars for a slice! The prices are so high for not so good quality of food and portions. Love this kind of diners! Casual diner, lovely atmosphere and warm staff. I was at the training in Ashland and wanted to have "normal food". After researching the area, I came to this family restaurant. The interior was very casual but I felt comfortable and welcomed. I ordered their special meal- beef liver. Oh my! It was delicious! Any pie there is better than most you've had in your life (except for your Grandma's, maybe, my grandma lived in Ashland and would often buy pies from there if she didn't want to make them herself). The pie is great! It's all in the crust. And the crumbles on the Dutch varieties. And there has not been any other place that has buckeye Pie this good. But, wait, there's more. Homemade chicken noodle soup full of noodles and chicken. If you like your chicken noodle soup with more goodies and less broth, this is for you. Homemade chili was also full of meat and beans. A few shakes of tobasco and it was perfect - thick tomato sauce base - like Mom made as a kid. My husband had the Philly cheesesteak and said it was also very good. Equally important, the vibe is cozy and clean and comfortable. If you want a whole pie to go, you can get one of the cream pies. Slices only in fruit pie. Looking for a place to have a great basic meal, look no further. Dined in with the family including our special needs son. No funny looks, in fact there were several other special folks in the restaurant while we were there. Treated like the normal people they are. Walking in front the car we asked a lady coming out what was good. She said everything! We had open face roast beef and mashed, open face turkey and mashed, and a cheese burger with smothered French fries. Good basic meals that didn't not disappoint. Good flavor, no fatty meat and real bacon on the fries.! Check was reasonable and portions not huge but just right. Quality over quantity. We drove over an hour to get there and we will be back! Was looking for a place to enjoy a leisurely lunch with a friend who lives in Columbus. (Ashland is exactly half way between our home towns.) Came across Lyn-Way through Yelp. Considering the lack of options in this area, this was an ok place to spend a few hours catching up. The menu is entirely comfort food...and very simple. A plain Chicken Breast was featured as their house speciality....what!?! In any case, I had the Roast Beef, Mushroom and Swiss sandwich, which was served on an open faced hot dog bun. It was surprisingly enjoyable despite the awkward presentation. My friend had the chili and it was decent. Buckeye pie was delicious. (Chocolate pudding pie with tons of peanut butter bits.) Banana cream pie was terrible. Tasted like banana flavoring and we couldn't find a real banana slice in it. Very generous slices so we could share with one another. Staff was very friendly and willingly accommodated our 2 hour lunch without a single annoyed look. We tipped accordingly. ;-) I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again but if I was in town and looking for a decent, friendly meal, I'd stop in...and order some pie. read more

Yet another must stop place when I visit home and not only for the pie but sometimes I will go just for the pie. Like Adam said and everyone in Ashland will tell you their pie is A-FREAKING-MAZING! The entire menu is jammed packed with comfort food. My favorite would have to be the pork chops with mash potato and gravy and macaroni salad. Though I haven't met an item on Lyn-Way's restaurant I haven't liked. One thing I love about Lyn-Way and Adam also touched on it is the regulars. You always see the same people or at least the same types of people here, usually white haired nice elderly couples in the early afternoon eating their dinner or families out for a bite to eat. They have a great bar seating area if you are eating solo and the servers will banter the older gentlemen and make friendly conversation with all as they go about their duties. Now onto the pie. This is the kind of pie you dream about that haunts your dreams when you move away from Ashland until you can make the trip and get a few slices for the road after eating a meal and a slice there. Hands down my favorite is the graham cracker pie. A nice light graham cracker crust filled with vanilla pudding topped with whipped cream. Simple yet amazing. Though like their menu I haven't had a pie I didn't like though I tend to lean more towards the cream pies than fruit. Now after re-living the pie in my head since starting this review I must make a trip to Ashland soon for pie and comfort food. Everything about my experience here was AWESOME!! The service is beyond excellent. Our server was one of the best I have ever had. She was so attentive, generous, and helpful. She recommended a dish that wasn't on the menu for my coworker who was having a hard time deciding between a few things. My colleague absolutely loved her suggestion. I got the chicken with mushrooms and cheese with the green beans and a sweet potato with butter and brown sugar. It was really good. I really wanted to try the Buckeye pie but can't eat pie crust. The server made me my own separate dessert with the filling in a bowl and no crust. It was so kind of her to accommodate me. She also knew we were in town for work and packed us up a bag of bakery items for free to take back to our hotel for breakfast since they were closing the bakery for the night.
