Black Iron Grill is one of our favorites when we're in Miles City. The staff is always nice and attentive. The atmosphere is welcoming and high-end casual...you can walk in with jeans and still feel like you're getting a delicious meal. Every time we've eaten here, the food has been delicious. A few of our favorites: the french onion soup, ribeye, and cowboy candy. We've also tried almost all of the desserts and enjoy those as well. Stopped in for a quick supper while travelling. Sat in the lounge area. Staff very polite. Had the Salmon and Smokehouse Platter. The salmon was perfect not dry. The Platter was a good combination and smoked just right. Brisket, chicken and ribs were tender . The Caesar salad was not typical with the salad tossed in the dressing. Not a fan of Caesar dressing drizzled on salad, makes the flavour of dressing to bold and not consistent. read more

I ordered Togo from the bar. I believe the bartender name was Marty.. He was very friendly and personable. While busy with the bar, He was still able to engender a welcoming atmosphere. My appetizer was the pan seared Cowboy Candy. The Cowboy Candy is as close to Crack as one could get to without going to jail. It honestly is, my co driver had an order of his own with a side of mashed potatoes & brown gravy and called it a meal. Steak was full of flavor and very tender, the aioli had a nice kick to it. My main dish was a pan seared Red Snapper with a side of Brussel sprouts. The Snapper was prepared perfectly. Not dry and cooked to hell like some places. Well seasoned and the skin was good too (yes I eat the skin apparently thats weird). Brussel sprouts were mid, nothing crazy special. Food service and ambience this place has it all. My husband took me there for valentine's first time we had ever been. I believe it was the manager that seated us and we got serviced extremely fast. Everything came at a timely manner. My husband had the flat iron pork steak and I had the shrimp cooked perfect, perfection also our appetizer the cowboy candy beats anything I've ever had as an appetizer. There is not much in the way of food or decent restaurants in this area of Montana so the Black Iron Grill was a very pleasant option. My daughter and I stopped in on a Saturday evening. It was busy but they managed the crowd very well. Service was excellent, our server was attentive, knew the menu, offered refills, and checked back on us appropriately. She was friendly and professional. Our food was delicious. Every single bite was amazing. The food was brought out at a good pace and the food was piping hot, which is how it should be instead of sitting under heat lamps. The brisket mac n cheese was AMAZING. The sweetness of the bbq sauce paired with the mac n cheese was out of this world. My daughter loved her pasta dish as well. Decent pricing for the portions. Clean and comfortable seating. I expected better after reading some of the reviews. Walked in and waited and waited to be seated No one as hostess even though sign stated to wait to be seated. Walked into the other room and no one to seat us. Had time to take turns going to rest room before being seated. It was certainly not because they were busy. I wanted a chicken sandwich which I discovered it would not be hot with the cheese melted. I ordered a burger medium. It came medium rare which is ok but not what requested. It was quite greasy. I ordered mashed potatoes which were luke warm. Husband ordered a brisket sandwich. It was delicious. Had to request refill of water. Request more then once a to - go container and then was given the wrong bill after running my credit card. Definitely not pleased about that. This was my first visit to Black Iron Grill today. I will be coming back here again! My Prime Rib au jus sandwich was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Initially wasn't expecting much due to the location, but the food was PHENOMENAL. I had the rotisserie chicken and my partner had the quesadilla burger and we were both more than satisfied with the quality and the portions. Our server Amber was GREAT!! I've driven through Miles City multiple times, and finally got to stop and eat at the Black Iron Grill. We were a group of five, and even though it was getting late the staff were so nice to us. Contemporary setting, clean, pleasant. I went for the Burnt Ends appetizer... I guess every six months, on again, off again. Last night was off again. But we had cowboy candy - very tender chunks of beef, couldn't really tell you how they were cooked, but it was good. Not burnt ends, but good. In fact, really good. I had the rotisserie brisket, not a fan. A little tough and stringy. Chose French Onion Soup to go with it. A girl friend prepared French Onion Soup once, and I married her! She doesn't need to worry about any competition here. Okay, but not wow. My friends chose rotisserie chicken, half rack of ribs and flat iron steak. Had a great experience at the bar. $6 hornitos tequila, can't beat that. Right off the highway and a short walk to many hotels. Great place to grab a drink and some grub. The portions are large so come hungry. I had the Cajun tortellini to-go and it was pretty tasty. Every business can have a bad day, but burning them in a bad review is excessive. Came in from traveling back home from Red Lodge, MT. Glad we did it was FABULOUS!! Best chicken bacon ranch wrap I have ever had!!! Hubby got the Cuban said was delicious and hot. Then had a Caesar salad with steak on it. I love Caesar salad and am picky on it and this was the best Caesar I've had. Especially with the steak. 3.5 stars. Tried their smokehouse platter with extra brisket and no chicken. Ribs and brisket are good but I'm not a fan of their sausage (no pun intended ). The brisket was decent but lacked a little bit of smoke and was a bit to the dry side. That could just be down to this particular cut. The ribs are good, would recommend. We like to come here for special occasions, and it is a fantastic steak house. The steak is excellent and I am not much of a red meat person, but the steak salad would satisfy anyone for a full meal. We almost always bring home a box of leftovers because the portions are generous and to be honest we tend to eat every bite. They are just as delicious the next day for a snack. Their 'cowboy candy' is so good, again - I usually want to lick the plate, lol! They are so smart to be right on the highway because they fill up with locals and travellers and I would say they could easily hold their own with any fine restaurant anywhere in the country. read more
