First time I'm writing a review for someone I _didn't_ use. I live in a small 3-unit condo and we needed some fire alarm work done, but no one would help us. Even the original installer wouldn't respond. So I connected with Todd and he walked me through everything that needed to be done and quoted a fair price. I didn't end up going with him because the original installer eventually responded after many months, and it was easier to go with him due to proprietary lock codes on the system. This company is ineffective and unreliable. Employees are rude and the owner was unable to send a tech who could fix an alarm box problem. Several no shows for appointment and calls that were dismissed. Fortunately there are other companies available. read more

The Tech cancelled on me multiple times. They charged me 4 times the amount quoted. Only after repeatly calling and back and forth emails did they reduce my bill to double the amount quoted, which I paid only to protect my credit. They upgraded perfectly good equipment without my consent and left me with a faulty motion detector. The staff was super friendly but incompetent. read more

We have worked with Black Lab Alarm for almost 10 years. We operate a small boutique commercial building with fairly complex security plan. Black Lab repaired an old system where necessary, added new equipment and set up new alarm panels with remote monitoring. I've been installing burglar alarm systems for about 30 years, and have worked with some great (and not so great) security companies. Black Lab Alarm was transparent in their billing and setup, and great reliable partners as modified our system. Their remote monitoring allows us the option of seeing alarms on iPhone app, etc. There is no ongoing contract -- I can still remember Todd, the president responding to my question about minimum contract period with "Why would you want your alarm company to own you?? We'll do great work for you, and you won't cancel. That's our business model." I am really surprised to see anything negative - the only way I can make sense of it is remembering that many years ago we had a lot of challenges with our cable service and the alarm panel communications. It was a G.E. alarm panel, and they exited the alarm business rather than move to the next generation. Black Lab was there for us. Obviously we're enthusiastic, but we are an arm's length customer who just wants to see them flourish and continue as business partners. read more
