    Fireplace Build

I was scrolling on FB and came across work that Black Label had done for a FB friend. I reached out to Alisha to set up a consultation. She arrived and we did a walk through of what I wanted. She provided professionalism throughout the job, her crew showed up and showed out. My entire first level was painted, added new cabinets, painted the existing ones, and built a new fireplace. I LOVE THE OUTCOME AND WILL HIRE AGAIN. THANK YOU ALISHA!

    Light fixture not centered

Last year, July of of 2023, I contracted Alesha Marnette DBA as Black Label Construction to do a full remodel on my house. This work was to include my kitchen, living room, bathroom, two bedrooms and my entire basement. Per the email attached to the contract that was sent to me, this was to take 4 weeks starting at the beginning of August. At the start of the project all started well, until I noticed some red flags, starting with receiving emailed progress reports, where the prices on things would be changed from the previous email. I also felt rushed to pay even when the progress of work did not match the pay schedule, because I was told that the staff needed to get paid, which does not fall on the customer, but falls on the company. Despite feeling alarmed by those action I continued to oblige. Things started to take a left turn when I started to have concerns about the the quality of work. Starting with lights that were not centered correctly over my counter, and scratches that were on my new light fixtures, and cabinets, as well as the fans not being flushed to the wall. I brought these concerns to the attention of Alesha and was told they would be fixed. Things continued to take a turn when the complete day was well passed. As my patience started to wane, I noticed more issues in quality, I wanted a special design in my tub/ shower, that while they were working on they did not put in a drain on the floor that was required for this specific desig, once this was bought to my attention, I was told that it wasn't going to get fixed and that I should just "try not to get water on the floor" which is impossible when it comes to showering. In a moment of frustration , I came to her about all that was continuing to go wrong, and she was VERY combative which led to an argument. After the disagreement was acknowledged, in an eagerness to just get the job done, I continued to do business with her and wait for the work to get finished. Drama continued to unfold when one day I asked her electrician about an extra outlet, a few days layer I received a nasty text message from her at 6:30 am being accused of trying to get work done on the side without her. This could be no further from the truth because I continued to pay only her. Finally, in November now almost 8 weeks past the due date, none of my concerns had been addressed nor was the job near completion I called her, and yet again and argument ensued . It was at that moment, I was told that it is best to cancel the contract, because I'm creating a stressful work environment, and she and I quote " has contracts 10 times the value of mine". I was told despite the contract being canceled, she would replace my damaged lights, clean up , and touch up what every was half competed. This is not what happen, I received an email of the cancelation of the contract and it was riddled with lies and an inaccurate number on how much money was owed to her. I am now left with a house where my bathroom has fallen apart because they did not seal the grout and I still don't have a drain, my basement was never fully competed only just framed and floor left bare. Doors that have fallen off the hinge because of the use of improper screws, I have paint tracked on my new floors, my walls are scratched and dirty because they didn't the correct paint. My experience with Black Label was less than satisfactory, I worked had to try and get my house renovated and I am now left worse off then I was before, living in a half completed home. I would not recommend doing business with Alesha Marnette DBA Black Label Construction for unprofessionalism, inaccurate record keeping, lack in quality of work, lack of accountability.

I wanted to update my bathroom so I hired Black Label Construction Company and I'm glad I did! The consultation was free and the quote was reasonable. Once they began to work, it literally took them a week to complete the whole job. I was very satisfied and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to update or completely remodel their home. Reliable, works efficiently, and does top quality work!

As a Consumer that loves to support local and/or small businesses I wish I had patronized a Big Box Store for this small project and accepted a quote that would have been twice as much, but at least I would have been able to open and close the Front door and have closet doors that were actually able to open and close after the flooring job was complete!! They do not agree that after a flooring job has been complete that a customer should Assume that their doors, including the FRONT door will open and close! This is one of those situations where one person (let's call him Terry) knows that his employee (Humm let's call him Jeff) did not write a Bid correctly and then outsourced the Labor to a company that is not equipped to do the job!! Don't let the "SALE" price persuade you because they do not include or expect for a job to be complete. Terry actually said "well it doesn't say the doors will open" WTF! Terry originally verbally agreed that Jeff should have known that the new carpet would need a different installer! I didn't hire the outscourced company! I hired this sorry excuse of a flooring company! #SMALLCLAIMSCOURT #HORRIBLE

They showed years of deferred maintenance, damage from the previous owners' pets, and a few footprints from their DIY refinishing job-gone-wrong. After speaking with a few companies, we were skeptical of whether we'd be able to bring these old floors back to life. When we met Jim at Abeln Floor Systems, we instantly saw that he was passionate about restoration. His expertise is unparalleled and we knew he was the right person for this job. Jim also had an inventory that would help us repair a few tricky areas that required special attention and odd-sized boards. We kicked off the job by doing a walkthrough with both Jim and his crew member Kenny. This ensured we had a shared expectation of outcomes and gave us all the opportunity to flag any areas of concern before the work started. Throughout the process, both Jim and Kenny were incredibly transparent and proactive with their communications; we received a daily check in call to share updates, ask questions, and confirm we were satisfied with the work so far. I couldn't imagine a better outcome and my biggest regret is that we didn't do this project sooner. I mean, look at the pictures!! The floors are immaculate and have made such a significant impact in restoring this home's character. Jim and Kenny were both amazing to work with and I'm so thankful that we were able to do this project with them. If you are looking for high-quality outcomes and a trustworthy crew, look no further. This is the best team you could hire in greater St. Louis.

We have wood floors throughout, except for for whatever reason two of the bedrooms they put this carpet into the middle... Which, of course when we moved in one of our dogs promptly decided to use as a bathroom whenever she wanted. The carpet didn't look great, didn't smell great, collects dust all that bad stuff. Plus, it just didn't match the rest of the house. Jim was able to come in here and start on Tuesday and by Saturday the floors were ready and we could move the furniture back in. The finished product looks amazing and they were just a really good group of people to work with. If you're going to have somebody in your home for a few days in a row it definitely helps to have friendly and trustworthy people. I would highly recommend him to anybody.

I used the Yelp project assistant feature and after a short while, I received contact from Ron, via the Key Carpet Yelp business page. Ron quickly filled me in regarding his 45 years experience in carpeting repair and then reviewed some photos I sent him to get a better picture of my situation. Ron quoted me $400 for the job, using the extra carpeting material I had on hand and offered to come the very next day, Friday mid morning. Ron gave me several assurances he'd handle whatever situation was present and not to give it any more worry. I appreciated his confidence and stated flexibility regarding the job conditions and his intention to just get it done. Ron is old school and not a Prima-donna. On a prompt arrival, Ron and his helper Brayson moved our kids bed out of the way, tore out the old carpeting, filthy tack strips, and treated the area with an odor neutralizer before jumping into the installation. The whole job took almost exactly 3 hours from arrival to departure. Ron & Brayson were true beasts in knocking out the job! While the company was easy to communicate with prior to the work being done we had a huge hiccup during the actual work. While planning to sell our home we were also in the process of moving 4,500 miles away. We had multiple businesses coming to our home on certain days to do their specific jobs (cleaning, staging, photographing, open house etc). I was told several times exactly how long the installation of the carpeting should take and based all other appointments on what I had been told. While on a trip I received a call telling me the installation would take another few days, which was simply unacceptable. Thankfully, Key Carpet was able to pull employees from another job to finish ours on time. This whole process caused an extreme amount of stress and headaches. While we were happy with how the new carpeting looked, it was definitely not the smoothest process.
