A few weeks ago I had Alisha (owner) of Black Label come out and do a bid at my home as things needed to be touched up quite a bit ! I wanted out with the old and into the new. Thanks to Alisha that vision came true. Alisha came to bid mid-afternoon and the same day she sent me over a contract; communication superb ! All in all I couldn't be happier with the results delivered by Black Label Construction and the woman in charge Alisha Marzette. From the very first consultation to the final walkthrough, their team was professional, communicative, and highly skilled. They completed our home renovation, on time and within budget, which is rare in the construction world. What stood out the most was their attention to detail and genuine commitment to quality. Every phase of the process was handled with care, and I was well informed and accommodated if necessary throughout my entire experience . Last year, July of of 2023, I contracted Alesha Marnette DBA as Black Label Construction to do a full remodel on my house. This work was to include my kitchen, living room, bathroom, two bedrooms and my entire basement. Per the email attached to the contract that was sent to me, this was to take 4 weeks starting at the beginning of August. At the start of the project all started well, until I noticed some red flags, starting with receiving emailed progress reports, where the prices on things would be changed from the previous email. I also felt rushed to pay even when the progress of work did not match the pay schedule, because I was told that the staff needed to get paid, which does not fall on the customer, but falls on the company. Despite feeling alarmed by those action I continued to oblige. Things started to take a left turn when I started to have concerns about the the quality of work. Starting with lights that were not centered correctly over my counter, and scratches that were on my new light fixtures, and cabinets, as well as the fans not being flushed to the wall. I brought these concerns to the attention of Alesha and was told they would be fixed. Things continued to take a turn when the complete day was well passed. As my patience started to wane, I noticed more issues in quality, I wanted a special design in my tub/ shower, that while they were working on they did not put in a drain on the floor that was required for this specific desig, once this was bought to my attention, I was told that it wasn't going to get fixed and that I should just "try not to get water on the floor" which is impossible when it comes to showering. In a moment of frustration , I came to her about all that was continuing to go wrong, and she was VERY combative which led to an argument. After the disagreement was acknowledged, in an eagerness to just get the job done, I continued to do business with her and wait for the work to get finished. Drama continued to unfold when one day I asked her electrician about an extra outlet, a few days layer I received a nasty text message from her at 6:30 am being accused of trying to get work done on the side without her. This could be no further from the truth because I continued to pay only her. Finally, in November now almost 8 weeks past the due date, none of my concerns had been addressed nor was the job near completion I called her, and yet again and argument ensued . It was at that moment, I was told that it is best to cancel the contract, because I'm creating a stressful work environment, and she and I quote " has contracts 10 times the value of mine". I was told despite the contract being canceled, she would replace my damaged lights, clean up , and touch up what every was half competed. This is not what happen, I received an email of the cancelation of the contract and it was riddled with lies and an inaccurate number on how much money was owed to her. I am now left with a house where my bathroom has fallen apart because they did not seal the grout and I still don't have a drain, my basement was never fully competed only just framed and floor left bare. Doors that have fallen off the hinge because of the use of improper screws, I have paint tracked on my new floors, my walls are scratched and dirty because they didn't the correct paint. My experience with Black Label was less than satisfactory, I worked had to try and get my house renovated and I am now left worse off then I was before, living in a half completed home. I would not recommend doing business with Alesha Marnette DBA Black Label Construction for unprofessionalism, inaccurate record keeping, lack in quality of work, lack of accountability. read more

We decided to discontinue any ongoing services with Black Label. That is including current and future projects. There has been several concerns while working with Black label. Since the beginning pricing has been ongoing concern. Eventually this resulted to us being told multiple times by Black Label owner that we were correct with the amounts we stated were factual and that sometimes she doesn't remember the amounts and it can be confusing because of her dyslexia. Our second concern is being hassled for payments when the scope of work per the contract is not completed or executed correctly. For example, per contract the baseboards in the basement were suppose to be installed. They were installed but they were not tall enough to cover the dry wall and meet the flooring. While completing a walkthrough I brought it to the owners attention and her response was "it's not a big deal and it shouldn't affect the sale of the home." I was very offended by this response. I ask if they could switch out the baseboards and was met with the response of NO and that they can add corner rounds but I will have to pay for additional materials and labor. Third concern is that majority of projects had a lot of mistakes that were very obvious but was not corrected before the schedule walkthrough such as the painting throughout the home. The paint looks rushed and messy even after they touch up the home. There are splashes of gray paint on the wire baseboards and ceiling. Also basement back room door frame a wasn't replaced and my access panel is missing. Fourth concern was in regards to the lack of care towards my flooring in the basement. Black label refused to properly cover the floors which resulted to product build up and a simple one day clean up turn into a 5 day process. Fifth concern is in regards to the main reason we needed construction in our home. Our home had a contained fire in one of the bedrooms. The room had to be gutted and brought back to its original state. During the final walkthrough on December 8, 2021 I observe the supposed new door frame was embedded into the wall all the way around. I was told by black label owner on the day of the walkthrough it would be fix. On December 13th, I was informed by black label owner that door frame amongst other mistakes were fixed and that they are ready to do another walk through. I met with Black Label on December 13th and observed the door in the fire room which was a major concern the first time and nothing had been fixed on it. Black Label owner stated that she must've dropped the ball. As of December 15,2021 the mistake is still present. Eventually, I was informed that the mistake is not theirs and that I would need to get a new door frame and that it can take another week or two to complete. I will also have to pay for additional materials and labor. Our concern was that every time Black Label made a mistake it resulted to me having to rebuy materials and pay for it to be done again. Black label owner becomes very defensive when you point out mistakes and can be disrespectful and this is the main reason we have chosen to Walk away. We spent way over our budget price and our materials were taken out of our home and was not returned in a timely matter. Please do you research before hiring them. They currently have a D+ rating with BBB and the complaints are very similar to mine. Wish I would've known before hiring them. read more

We signed the contract with Black label in october, they said it is 4 weeks to remodel our master bathroom, that led to 4 months now. We are still waiting for our shower door to be fixed. To begin with they did not measure the door sizing until they were close enough finishing up. After that we got the wrong door delivered.Eventually got a correct door after placing an order after an month. The door is just sitting in our walkway for about a week, no response from the owner. Even though this is priority, we get no responses for phone calls and texts. We have an total Non-functional bathroom at this Point. read more

I needed my large screen TV installed and mounted on the wall, ceiling light lengthened and high ceiling over steps painted. The owner came immediately after request and assessed the work. The technician was scheduled to do the work in less than a weeks time. After the technician completed the work, the owner returned to assess the work. I was very pleased with the work and the price with supplies was reasonable. I initially hired them for my kitchen floor and backsplash. Later they installed a fireplace. The kitchen floor was fine but after a few months, the grout started to crack around several tile pieces. Since they were going to install the fireplace at that time, I asked if they could look at the floor. They didn't at that time. When they cut the quartz for the fireplace, the guy cut it inside my garage and it was filled with dust and debris from that. He also left all of the scraps. After it was completed, I called and text the owner about the clean up several times. Either I received no response or I was told someone would come and clean up but they never did. They left not only the scraps, but some of their tools and supplies and they never came back to get them. A few months later, I wanted to get my electric fireplace switched out for another one and replace all the ceiling fans and the chandelier. I could not get a response. I was told they were booked (which I understood and would have waited as long as I could at least get scheduled ) but there was no follow up. I was told to find another person to do it. They didn't want to do it and they did not want to fix the tile floor in the kitchen even though they installed them. I wanted them to fix it because they installed it and it had been only a five months. When I had my electric fireplace switched out (by someone else) they said the wood was loose in some areas in the fireplace and not properly screwed in. He also looked at my floor and said if his employee did this work, he would fire them. I had planned to have one company do all the updates in my house and I initially wanted Black Label to do it, but after everything I won't recommend them to anyone and I will never use them again. read more
