As a Consumer that loves to support local and/or small businesses I wish I had patronized a Big Box Store for this small project and accepted a quote that would have been twice as much, but at least I would have been able to open and close the Front door and have closet doors that were actually able to open and close after the flooring job was complete!! They do not agree that after a flooring job has been complete that a customer should Assume that their doors, including the FRONT door will open and close! This is one of those situations where one person (let's call him Terry) knows that his employee (Humm let's call him Jeff) did not write a Bid correctly and then outsourced the Labor to a company that is not equipped to do the job!! Don't let the "SALE" price persuade you because they do not include or expect for a job to be complete. Terry actually said "well it doesn't say the doors will open" WTF! Terry originally verbally agreed that Jeff should have known that the new carpet would need a different installer! I didn't hire the outscourced company! I have worked with the Maplewood store to carpet 2 separate rooms now, and purchased vinyl tiles to install myself. Every project has turned out great! They are always friendly and helpful, and recognize me when I go in. They have a range of brands and materials, and I have found their pricing to be fair. The installers are obviously professionals. I had a difficult staircase and they were very meticulous and took extra time to make it perfect, then did a great job cleaning up. read more

Would rate a negative if I could Gave these folks my business due to their glowing online reviews but I will NEVER EVER EVER use them or recommend them EVER. The subcontractors they hire to do jobs offer sub par work, whine and get an attitude when you express concern with the final product, and do not offer refund or redo on work that was done to a sub standard level. Mike was literally one of the worst representatives of any company I've ever encountered. He wreaked of cigarettes anytime I saw him, spoke down to my partner and I like we had no idea what we were talking about (we do) and has about as much customer service skills as my toenail. This company is not worth your time or money. Over priced, under qualified and a disgrace to the industry. Shame shame shame. read more

My husband and I used this company in May to get our hardwood floors sanded and restained in our new first home. We went from an orangey, shiny gunstock color hardwood floor to a beautiful dark walnut. We also had them install some LVP in our laundry room which is awesome! I just bought a 6 thousand square foot house and stopped by to select tiles as I would prefer a local business to the chains. I called ahead and when I arrived they asked to assist me and the gentleman came over not wearing a mask in gross violation of the county mandate. I'm also a doctor who takes care of covid patients and every single day and has signed more death certificates in the past year than I can count. He flat out refused to wear a mask, said he was the required 6 feet away...which only applies to outside. I told him I'm a doctor and yes, please wear a mask. I explained that 6 feet only applies outside. Bought a huge house in Lake Forest. Your staff are horrible people. I'm sure I'll see you in the ICU. If you treat new customers like total crap, you won't have a business for long. read more

We bought a home last year that had about 1700 sq feet of ancient carpeting, mostly from the 60s and 70s. We shopped around at various places for price and selection and ended up here. Ultimately, we bought enough Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring from Cortec to cover about 1,300 sq feet that we installed ourselves and we had the store install carpet in the remaining space. Our close friend is a floor contractor (although he can't actually lay carpet any longer due tot he impact on his knees) and he was impressed with the work the store's installer's did. Lord knows, this is superior to what you'll deal with at the big box stores where you have no idea who is going to do your installation. All in all, the store was easy to work with and got us what we needed when we needed it. read more

This is based on one visit to Big Bob's, but they have AMAZING customer service. I went in to buy some do-it-myself carpet tiles for a new walk-in closet and Brittany quickly showed me a better (and cheaper) alternative. They have plenty of carpet remnants to choose from if you're looking at a small area to carpet and they bind the edges for around $2/foot. Luckily, they had almost the exact size I was looking for so I was able to get exactly what I needed for about $60. I have no idea how this compares to other carpet places, but it sounded reasonable to me and they were just so helpful! read more

Went to Flooring Galaxy looking for some carpet tiles for a basement rec room I just finished. Nice selection and found the right color and style for a better price than the big box chains. They had enough tiles in stock to cover a 500 square foot room which was even better. Terry was friendly and helpful, you should check them out. The customer service was great. However, we purchased 160 sq ft of 16"X16" ceramic tile for our kitchen floor. We are in the process of laying the floor and discovered not one of the ceramic title are square. most of them are off by 1/8 inch which can really throw off the grout lines. Then the next box we opened the title sizes are not even close to being the same. I know this is an outlet store, however, I would never have thought the title size would have such a variance. We will not make any future purchases at this store and would not recommend them to any of our friends at this point. JUST A SUGGESTION...IF YOU PURCHASE CERAMIC TITLE FROM BOB'S FLOORING CHECK THE SIZE OF ALL OF THE TILE BEFORE STARTING YOUR PROCESS. read more
